Hi there.
I just flashed to the 'CM10.1 ALPHA3 Android 4.2.1' rom from zeubea, but i am stuck on the "HTC booting screen". I have tried to flash the rom 3 times but it's still looping. I have cleared cache, dalvik and data.
I don't really know what to do with it, i'm not that much into all this rooting and stuff, i just know how to flash a rom.
But if anybody knows what to do i would appreciate it.

Sorry for asking a bit dumb... Bit I'm not really sure what to do here: "Before beginning Step 1 of the Unlock Bootloader process, your device requires an RUU to be installed." (I can't post the link 'cause i haven't got 10 points...)
(I was able to install CM10 BETA 1, I don't know if that's relevant though.)

RUU isa ROM Update Utility. I believe this is the ClockworkMod Recovery software. It's been a long time since I gained root on my Legend, so I really cannot remember exactly how I did it. I think there is something in ClockworkMod that can give you temporary root, and you should then be able to boot and flash with a rooted image.
Sorry that's vague. Nowadays, I just drop an image on the SD card, and run the ROM Update routine. Effectively, ClockworkMod sits on my SD card too, as a file called Update.zip, and I run that from the HTC boot menu. That then lets me pick any other image I want to flash the phone.
Someone else might be able to fill in any gaps.

My bad...the RUU they refer to is nothing to do with ClockworkMod. That may come later. The RUU is explained on the HTCdev page. It is just a suitable ROM for updating the HBOOT. That said, if you could install the older Cyanogenmod, I don't understand why not this one.
Simple answer is, the phone is already rooted, so the ruu from Htcdev cannot be used to unlock the bootloader.
In this case, the only solution is to follow the solution provided by blay0, I dont have the link to the actual post, maybe you could go read some of the many other threads regarding the topic, you may even learn something you don't know.
Hint: try doing a search for "blay0", "bootloader" & "Htcdev"

I laways format boot, system, data, cache and sd-ext before I flash, so i don't think that's the problem. But yes, the phone is rooted. I'll check the solution out by blay0.
im a little confused with the posts in this thread but i seem to have the same problem with all the jellybin roms including cm10.1 alpha3.im getting suck at boot screen.im guessing it may be because my htc legend is s-so or because i haven't partitioned my sd card.
if i have topartition my sd or make it s-off can you please give me a guide or something.
p.s: my phone is rooted and i'm using a miui ics right now
p.p.s: i tried shutting down and rebooting. didn't help
please hellp:crying:

So this morning I decided to update my firmware from the PJ75IMG.zip. I booted back to and while I was in the bootload a factor reset was done by accident. Now my operating system is now erased. S-off'ed with lazy panda. Also, i have no backup because my Vista crashed a week ago. Sprint will replace my phone, but is there any possibility of unbricking now?

Im guessing people dont understand the term bricked.....
Bricked- A device state in which you can NOT get to bootloader, Recovery or standard installed OS.

There have been quite a few cases of this.

Sorry to hear that. I believe you're gonna need a pc to try to do anything towards fixing it. Try an RUU. You can always get a replacement before they start giving out refurbs.

If you can access recovery you can flash a rom. Your other option would be to run the ruu. You will never get your data back though.

I was going to S-Off but lack of clear directions and dead links and such I decided against it.
What my problem is is that I that I flashed ViperRez when It first came out and now I'm not able to flash any other Rom.
I know I need to extract the boot img from the ROM i want to use and flash it BUT I cant get adb to run on my system.
I know about renaming to PH98IMG and flashing it.
I even took the the PH98IMG from an existing Rom and dropped the boot img I wanted into that folder and zipped it back up.
I have tried to flash several boot images many different ways and always no image found. :crying:
I have read every help file on this and followed the directions but still no luck. Can anyone help a old man out..
Thanks in advanced....

So basically adb wont recognize your device? if so you could try to reinstall the drivers and that might help.
Not sure about the dead links, but I think the S-Off directions are pretty clear. Seriously, this kind of trouble is exactly why you do want S-Off. The amount of hassle you are spending on this would probably have already resulted in S-Off.

Well, you could back up everything on your rom and backup your internal storage and try to use the global RUU to get back to complete stock and then that will probably fix the problem. RUU fixes most problems.

Hello,
I have tried reading all of the stickies (and list of stickies post) for a method to downgrade hboot 1.58 without success. My ultimate goal is to be able to flash a custom recovery so that I can try the radio fix since my wife's Evo 3D will not complete the hands free activation and she does not get data services. We took the phone to the Sprint store and they said the previous owner flashed SOMETHING to the phone and messed up the radio. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to do the wire trick. Its simple. Search for the guide on here and download the required stuff. Look at the video then follow the guide. After you have s-off then you download the hboot you want and put it on the SD card and flash.

Don't be afraid of trying the wire trick - it really isn't that frightening as long as you follow instructions. I managed to do it on my first go, much to my exhilaration
If the previous owner flashed something onto the phone then does it have some sort of recovery on it?

Make sure the file is in the root of the SD card and is named exactly "PG86IMG.zip" with the caps and without the quotes. Sometimes an extra ".zip" gets added when the file is downloaded to Windows and copied over, so it's best to check it with a file manager such as ES File Explorer on the phone.
Also, when you first start the bootloader it may not scan the card until you press the power button once to select fastboot.
Edit: I see you edited your last post and you've figured it out.

You probably need to flash a ROM that is compatible with the bootloader you just installed. If you've removed the PG86IMG.zip file from the SD card you should be able to start recovery from the bootloader and flash a ROM. If you are using 4EXT, you will probably need to format cache+dalvik before it will let you do anything else.

So what I'm getting from this post is that for me to downgrade from 1.58 to 1.4 I need to do the wire trick..... I was thinking that downgrading would have saved me from doing tht. I also noticed that my WiFi says error and 4g wouldn't come on... Not to mention my Bluetooth is sparatic... Very close to flinging it into toxic waste... Lol

All of those issues sound like a bad kernel flash. If you do the wire trick, flashing kernels is easier too.
Long story short, had a party at my house. The phone was stolen and wiped, OS entact, then sold on craigslist. Whoever bought it on craigslist, soft bricked it. Returned it to the seller who then found out it was mine and returned it. It was retrieved by my sister and was returned to me with the Splash Screen on with the red HTC developer warning at the bottom. Good news, phone is back. Bad news, its soft bricked.
So i go through a few of my options.
1) Recover a NANDROID
Internal SD completely wiped and External is missing
2) Load a NANDROID that I had saved on the computer onto a buddies external SD and recover
Loads to Splash Screen, goes to blank and returns to splash infinitely
3) Try the new DirtyRacun S-OFF
Cannot move past Step 13 because of symptom from #2 above. So now Im thinking that this may be because this method puts the original RUU on the device. I had CM on it at the time, which was flashed using Flash GUI, Im assuming the CM Kernal is still on the device and the Stock RUU wont match with the CM Kernal.
4) Flash CM
Same symptom as #2
At this point all I can do is ask the masters on the XDA forums (all you guys). The forums have totally helped me in the past but this is my first post. So, Im not to a noob to rooting and its involved processes, but, by no means am I an expert. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. Some other things that may help are this I have a feeling that the Internal SD may be unmounted but Im not sure. I am unlocked and S-ON I was running a recent nightly CM flashed using Flash GUI. My recovery is TWRP 2.2. Also, Ive tried to search for soultions on the forums but havent found anything similar to my particular situation. If i could get a reference to different post that would be awesome too.
might try the recovery tool from original dev section
it was looking like a good resource for soft bricked phones.
since there's the racun s-off now you could maybe dev-re-lock and do the official ruu to 2.13 just to get to complete stock and a working phone
Also could try flashing stock pj75img from bootloader and starting fresh. I had to do this once when my system partition corrupted on me somehow and it saved my butt. It will overwrite anything left on your phone, kernel included.

what would that involve. i only know how to flash stuff from recovery. how would you do it from the bootloader.?
If you are on 1.12 bootloader use this link to dl, rename file to pj75img.zip only, place on an external sdcard and reboot to bootloader. Bootloader will automatically find the pj75img.zip and ask if you want to update, follow directions from there (it could take a bit and will reboot a few times and even look like it's doing the same thing over again) let it do its thing reboot and voila... Back to working stock.. If you are on a newer bootloader you will have to search for pj75img.zip that matches your loader (1.15 or 1.19) I'm at work or I'd look for the others.. Good luck bud, hope it helps..

That's what I thought to, but it's all I could find on un brick.. It sounds like u have similar symptoms as I did.. The pj75img.zip did the trick for me.. It's not nearly as involved as an unbricker would be and the phone virtually does it itself... What bootloader were u on??

Do this first: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ywwsgozw7ek1rva/2.13.651.1_Firmware_NoHBoot_NoRecovery_PJ75IMG.zip rename to just pj75img.zip
Then try the 1.19 ruu.. I can't find a full stock pj75img for 1.15 either, but this might help...

Hello guys,
I do realize there are tons and tons of threads of this topic, but I still decided to make a new one. That is mostly because the other ones are like 1,5+ year old, and most of them have comments of people that managed to get into bootloops, bricked their phones or whatever it is called (also happened to me).
I'm a total noob at rooting and doing stuff to my phone. I have only rooted it back in 2012, march. I put some "cool ics" or something like that on it, and now, I've decided to change to something new, better. But as I've seen I'll have to downgrade it, I tryed, but I got into a bootloop. So now I'm scared to do anything (I did fix it tho). Could you guys explain, or atleast post links to WORKING tutorials, please?
My hboot version is 1.53.0007, S-ON. The bootloader is unlocked. I have 4ext recovery, and I don't think it's rooted by revolutionary method (if that even tells anything).
So if you tell me to put some other recovery stuff on it, please also tell how to delete this 4ext thingy. xD
Thank you in advance, iShovel out
Lol same case over here... But I managed to do it all and now I'm on CM 10.02...
Go to forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795934
In step 4 via direct link you will not find the file 'couse it's an old thread but search it on the web and download it, that way you don't need to download linux live cd, but follow everything else...
But before everything search a bit more because that tutorial is based on assume you have all the programs and drivers installed...
If U get in trouble just ask

Thank you very much! But it says it will put the phone on version 1.49.9999. Can I put that PACMan thingy on, if it's on 1.49.9999? I mean, I've been thinking about the PACMan, but I honestly really don't know which one to choose, since there are so many. Any suggestions? I've been looking for something that speeds up the phone, doesn't need 3D camera, and is generally good...
Don't know about pacman haven't tried it... I'm using CM 10.2 from Johnnyslt and it's awsome for me...
About your HBoot, look at the first link I gave U, there is another step in which U flash and get 1.43.0007

I've looked, with hboot 1.49.9999 U can also put pacman rom

I do have a question - if I want to install this Leedroid GB ROM, and I already have cool ics, do I have to uninstall it first to put the other rom on? And if yes, how do I do that?

First of all, make sure that is based on htc sense rom then copy the rom in your sd card, else the phone go in bootloop.
I guess you already have 4EXT recovery, so go in bootloader mode (Volume down+PowerOn. It's a white screen) and enter in the recovery.
Make sure you have the smartflash feature enabled. Go in tools and enable it.
Make a nandroid backup (it's a full backup)
Wipe cache and all that the developer say in the rom thread.
Now you have to install the new rom Install from sdcard, find the zip and install it
Thank you
But once again, the noob I am, I managed to screw something up. I'm now at steps 10-11. At first, when I ran that controlbear.exe as administrator, it got stuck saying something like "setling your device...please wait..." (it didn't say exactly that, but I forgot what it said). I rebooted phone, tryed steps 7-10 again, and now it's stuck on "searching device" in command prompt -.-' Any ideas whats wrong?
And I feel so bad right now, since I can't do anything correct...not once...
EDIT: TRYED RUNNING CONTROLBEAR ONCE MORE, IT WORKS NOW!! it tells me to do the wire trick! ok guys, now wish me luck, because if I screw this up, then...
Let us know!
Well...I've, done the wire trick, but when I turned on my phone, there was just black screen with "JuopunutBear" text on it, and a green arrow + phone. So I said to myself, it's probably ok, that I just need a rom. So i installed PACman rom + gapps, and there is still this black screen with "JuopunutBear" text on it....what do I do now?
Connect the phone and execute controlbear once more, it woked for me, forgot to say because it doesn't say in directions

It says:

blah
Found backups!
Device S-OFF already!
Quit.....
Press enter to quit....
And nothing happens, still on the black screen with "JuopunutBear" :/
OK, now go to hboot and see if your hboot is changed, then go to recovery, wipe everything except SD card, flash cm10 and gapps
Sent from my Evo 3D GSM using xda app-developers app
It is on S-OFF, 1.49.9999, I wiped, I installed PACman & gapps, and I'm back at black screen of JuopunutBear
Ahh these ****ty instructions lol, try this: remove battery, remove SD card and then turn on the device and see if it will start normally
Sent from my Evo 3D GSM using xda app-developers app
It does not - the god damn JoupunutBear still shows up.
Wait, after wire trick did u flash hboot 1.49.007? It will remove joupunut bear logo and hboot 1.49.999
Sent from my Evo 3D GSM using xda app-developers app
Ooooooh, that might have been the problem, yes. xD I thought I read that you can flash PACman with 1.49.9999...So is there like another guide to get to 1.49.0007?
No need for another guide, just find and flash zip file with hboot 1.49.007, I flashed it myself hoping that this would remove controlbear image and propperly boot the phone and it did, after that flash cm10 and gapps, don't forget to wipe before flashing ROM...
Sent from my Evo 3D GSM using xda app-developers app
And once again, there's a ****load of different methods and stuff to get to 1.49.0007. Do you think http://htcevohacks.com/htc-evo-3d-hacks/how-to-downgrade-to-hboot-1-49-0007-on-htc-evo-3d-gsm/ will work? If not, could you please paste something that will actually work? I've already bricked my phone once trying to do that thing...
Yep I checked, hboot 1.49.007 is installed, find it and flash
