[Q] usb dac fiio e7 support - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I own a nexus 7 4.2.1. My simple question is wether to wait for support for the fiio e7 dac in a next version, or to root and install an alternative kernel which i'm not fond of. I thought that in the 4.2.1 version at least the nexus would notice there is a otg cable and usb dac device connected, but nothing. Any suggestions.

USB OTG - supported usb wired ethernet

Hi Folks,
I have the OTG cable and USB Y cable working my touchpad with 7/30 CM9 nightly... I would like to purchase a USB wired ethernet adapter. Has anyone tried and know of one that would actually work on the touchpad with CM9?
Thanks a ton!!
Anything that Android 4.0 supports should work unless its limited by our kernel. I'd say there is a good chance this one would work as it mentions plug and play compatibility on Android 3.2+. But there could be kernel limitations so you may want to get another opinion.

Backporting Galaxy S III USB Audio to GSII?

The GSII supports the USB Audio standard, allowing USB DACs (soundcards) to be used with a OTG USB cable.
Does anyone know if it would be possible to backport the USB Audio support from the GSIII kernel to a GSII kernel? Or does this require userland modifications?
Linux/ALSA has supported USB Audio for a long time.
Jellybean supports a new kind of USB Audio but it is designed for use with car docks, and is not the standard driver-less USB Audio standard used by Linux, Mac & Windows. Many people have confirmed that the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 running Jellybean do not support standard USB Audio DAC.
The Samsung GSIII support for USB Audio is unique.

[Q] S3 OTG Ethernet

Hi,
I have successfully been able to use an OTG adaptor and an apple usb ethernet adaptor with my Nexus 7 tablet.
I was wondering if the same thing is possible with a custom kernel on my Galaxy S3 which is rooted?
Any options available?

2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector. What does it stand for exactly? USB dock.

S10 lite specs say, it's equipped with "2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector". I'm confused. So which generation of USB is that? Does this "reversible" have anything to do with OTG(hosting) ability or is that just an indication that it can be plugged both sides?
I'm diggin into this topic because I'm looking for a docking station, for my S10 Lite, with some USB 3 ports and HDMI. I was wandering if some docks aimed for computers will do. Like this one for eg.:

Wouldnt bother
Hi i really wouldn't bother with a dock for this phone while you might be able to get basic OTG support for a USB stick as storage that's about it, this phone has no USB 3 support, No DEX, and no HDMI output capability. just realised this myself and i'm gutted thinking about returning it for the A90.
Ok. Is hdmi/dex support hardware dependant then? No chance for hdmi with some ported rom? My previous handset had no otg support with stock firmware and then I foud out OTG was there when flashed some lineage or stock rom ported from a newer phone.

OTG maybe, HDMI afraid not the Galaxy s10 lite has a USB 2.0 port not the 3.1 port required to output a HDMI signal. The A90 is cheaper has and exactly the same specs apart from is 6gb ram instead of 8gb and has a 3.1 USB port with full dex support plus it has 5g, not entirely sure why the s10 lite even exists and really wished i had researched more before ordering
There is a multiport adaptor listed on the Samsung store, @deanstead2k18, have you tried an HDMI adaptor and it doesn't work?

I dont have the phone anymore or I would order one and give it a try, as far as I know it's not possible I tried several different multi port adapters with hdmi and none of them worked I even got an on screen message saying it's not supported. Traded in for an s10 plus and all the multi port adapters work perfect
Hmm - I suspect that the thing on a Samsung website is a misprint then honestly. Thanks for the info.

Audio source was removed from Usb Configuration?

Hi there. First time post here. I was just wondering did Oppo remove the audio source setting in USB configuration? When I first decided to buy my Oppo Reno 2 i tested it with my portable DAC AMP(Topping NX4 DSD) using the usb-C charging port after turning on the OTG permissions on. After the recent Color OS 6.1 update, I can't seem to connect to my portable Dac Amp. I decided to look into developer mode and under networks, in the usb configuration option audio source is not available. It seemed kind of odd for something like this to happen because I've tested my friends phones like the samsung s20, note 10 plus, huawei mate 30 pro and an oppo r9s(audio source still available) they all work with my dac amp. Do I have to wait for the next update or is there something wrong with my phone? If anyone has found a way to get past this problem any help would be really appreciated. Thank you in advance.
