I had SuperNexus 1 (jelly bean 4.1.1) on my phone for a long time and it was all great until one day it started flipping out. i mean literaly it started switching screens and all kinds of essential os apps started not responding and i got messages like : keyboard stopped responding, or launcher stopped responding. every second, it was unbearable. so i did a factory reset but it didn't help. so i went online to download and flash the same rom i used (SuperNexus 1) when i saw that they came up with SuperNexus 2.0 (jelly bean 4.2.1) so i downloaded it and flashed it. the install was successful until the phone booted, the home button was dead and my back button became my home button, in addition the keyboard looked strange. and when i made calls, all the other person could hear was loud Jettery noise like someone hammering. so i tried to re-install the rom or install SuperNexus 1 again but no matter what rom i flashed it gave me the error: assert failed status 7 something like that. and it displayed code on my screen. now i can replace the rom, my buttons are messed up and i dont know what to do any more i even tried replacing my CWM to CWM touch 5.8.1.5 please please help i cant use my phone and it's the only one i got:crying::crying::crying:.

Home key not working, back key becoming home key, and assert failed status 7 all indicate to me that you either flashed a ROM meant for an SGH-I777 onto a GT-I9100, or flashed a ROM meant for a GT-I9100 onto an SGH-I777.
Do you happen to be an AT&T customer in the US? Did you get your Galaxy SII from AT&T? If you answered yes to both these questions, then you ABSOLUTELY DO NOT have a GT-I9100, and are in the wrong sections.
AT&T's Galaxy SII model (SGH-I777) has a separate forum.

By reading. Which you obviously havet done otherwise you wouldn't have flashed incorrect rom to your device.
Related
So ive flashed ics on my friends SII but from the beginning it had touch problems, for example in the app drawer i have to tap setting 3 times before it registers the touch. For eveything else it works just fine so im sure its not HW related.
Switching kernel improved it (also improved scrolling lag).
Is this a known existing problem with the current kernels? I dont own a galaxy sII so i dont know the issues that are playing atm.
Thanks in advance!

no problem might be bad flash or early beta release that you flashed by mistake
Nah, i thought the same but after flashing again the problem still was there.
Gonna try returning to stock and start again with CM9 Resurrection Edition with Odin. If it still persists i gues the problem is hardware related.
and suddenly everything changes.........!
weren't you on stock ICS before? please use stock with full wipe to test such things.

Okay I'm very proficient with Android, my brother however isn't.
We live about 1,000kms away.
And I've been emailing him with detailed (n00b) guide on how to save his stuff, install a good kernel, and a good ROM on his i9100 (Vodafone Australia branded).
I also gave him lots of info/help with AOKP and Launchers and what-not.
When I was on a short holiday, he told me about some issues (stability and etc).
I was able to upgrade to a newer kernel and newer rom and fixed the issues except for one.
The STUPID microUSB port is on the fritz.
It shows charging when it isn't. It does charge. It does show the correct %.
But connecting the phone to PC, it doesn't recognize it.
After so many attempts, and troubles, he wants TouchWizz back but with ICS.
So how do I install ICS on it?
Where can I download stock kernel and stock ROM?
Flash with Odin (preferd) or Kies (shrug)?
I need some "clear" instructions, so I can dumb it down and explain to him.
He should've gotten an iPhone, seriously, but what can you do?
Thanks for all honest attempts!
(PS Why isn't this issue found in Search or Google. I thought it would be common)

Do you have access to CWM recovery? If yes then you can just download a much stable, less bloated custom stock ROM for him and flash it via CWM recovery

Yeah he's got it (custom recovery, kernel, rom, scheduler, governor, voltage setup etc etc).
He was on the best custom kernel and AOKP ROM at the time (1.5 months ago). I don't think its the custom rom, I think its his handset... he must've dropped it a lot of times.
And the microUSB issue is possibly hardware related.
He's just "had enough" of a custom rom, he wants it dumbed down.
Like I said, he shoulda got an iPhone, he's just not into spending the effort to reap Android's benefits. He "100%" wants TouchJizz again.
So where can I get him to download the files, and what's the best (dumbest) way to get him to do it. I can't go there just to solve his problems.

Okay.
I told him to back up his EFS and do a nandroid before he install'd the custom ROM.
Turns out he can't find the files (or never bothered).
Otherwise it would've been simple (nandroid restore, install Kies, apply update).
Anyways, what's the easiest way for him to fall back from an AOSP ROM to an Official Stock Samsung TouchWizz 4.0.4 Firmware?
No modifications whatsoever, he can do the rest himself I've pretty much had it

Let him scrabble to root it and restore the Titanium Backup I made for him.

He should do full wipe before flashing.
Swyped from my Galaxy SII
Just a quick update. He's flashed that ROM you recommended (which is basically stock rom and stock kernel, with just r00t etc).
And what I told him has resulted:
1) Phone is ever-so slower in transitioning between Apps
2) Phone uses more power (I'd say a difference of about 1hour per day)
3) GPS a little slower to lock
4) Camera seems to have improved (no surprises)
5) The "bug" of his Music App not finding his music in the SD has gone
6) The microUSB still wont interact with his PC
7) The microUSB still shows "charging" constantly.
Diagnosis:
- Busted microUSB slot, incompetent user.

Skip to second paragraph for main problem, Third for main question
I am so hungry to get my hands on ICS, and I will do anything to get a rom, but not sacrifice my camera. So for a while a was literally switching back and fourth between stock rom and paranoid android (4.0.4) just to take a picture. But recently, I tried out ICS Crumble, based on AOKP, and I switched back because it was the slowest and buggiest rom I have used on any device, even when I tried other AOKP roms.
So I switched back to Paranoid android via CWM Recovery, but usually I use ROM Manager, since it back ups the stock rom automatically, but I was mad so I used CWM Recovery, and forgot to do a backup...So I tried flashing the stock rom, and pre-rooted version of the stock rom, but all it says is "Installing update, Installation aborted". I am wondering: where to find 2.3.6 odin update (I tried searching, no luck), if I can download a 4.0.4 kernel along with my 4.0.4 rom to get the camera back, or how do I get the camera back.
The main question is: HOW DO I GET THE CAMERA BACK, THAT IS ALL I WANT AND NEED. If I can't, well you now know a Galaxy Player is up for sale, and I will just get myself a Nexus 4 off ebay (only place you can get it). And please reply, Ieft this out of the Q&A since my other questions gone unreplied, depsite all the view the've got, if I can't get it back, just tell me, the iphone will come into your house and rob you if you dont....

I'm no expert at this, but only a gingerbread ROM would get your camera to work. I recommend flashing this custom ROM. and flashing the correct kernel.

Hello everyone, I was using ultimarom till now and it worked like a charm. Today I thought hey lets upgrade to android 4.4 so I found temasek's rom and it seemed fine. After flashing the rom, it got stuck on boot screen. So I reflashed the stock rom (btw I wiped everything as required) and it was working. So I retried flashing the Temasek's rom and it booted this time, only thing is that my touch screen was not responding. The capacitive buttons are working also the touch screen is showing everything but not responding to anything. I searched a little bit, and it might be possible that my digitizer is broken which I hope is not since I am in a different country and it will be a pain to do it here. Also I read that if you tried to install Note 2 kernel/rom this might happen but I know that temasek's rom is definitely for s3 so it shouldnt be the case for me. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I tried with both stock and temasek once again and the touch screen still does not respond. I always used cwm for recovery though, and did a factory reset on the stock recovery once to see if that works. I can flash ultima as well I suppose but I am not sure if that will fix it.
Edit: I tried to flash ultima but the installation steps required the use of touch screen so I could not proceed.
Are you sure that you download Temasek's rom for I9300 not for another model? Because Temasek supports more devices.
And on Temasek's thread I didn't find any user complaining about touch screen issue after installing it,so I think that you flashed it for different model.

Flash back to stock with odin if problem is still there then it is hardware issue....
I rechecked and it is temasek for I9300. I restocked ofc with odin and it is no use tbh. I mean it is weird as the first time I flashed stock rom the touch screen was not working for 30 seconds or sth than it started working so I was really happy for a second.. After another flash it was not working and I was like yea it will work soon, but it didnt. I tried with loads of roms and kernels and it is still no use.
Any help? I have no idea how to fix this! I may have to send my phone for replacement which will be costly I suppose.. Any little tip will be appreciated.

Solution
Hey dude, I couldnt find any solution to that problem. What I did was to send it in for replacement but with warranty. For that you need to triangle away your phone and also install the official firmwares. I had to use a mouse in order to do that but you will need a usb to micro usb converter, which is not that hard to find( and also cheap). They couldnt tell that I installed unofficial firmware, I replaced my screen flawlessly. You can find how to triangle away your phone in this forum and also sammobile is the place to look for official firmware.
Cheers

Hi all
Tried posting before but not getting any answers
Im new to android and have been tweaking my samsung s4 for a couple of months now. I have a Samsung S4 GT I9505 with TWRP boot recovery , nova launcher prime and KitKat 4.4 Google play edition Rom. I have also flashed Faux Kernel onto my phone to prevent random restarts. The problem is I am still getting restarts (about 8 a day) the problem was a lot worse before I re-flashed it with the same kernel. I have tried flashing it again but I still get the same problem. Also some of my apps restart more often then before I had the custom ROM (GPE)
Help would be most appreciated
Thanks

Send it back to the manufacturer. It's obviously a damaged phone if it can't last one day without a reboot.
