I don't know if anyone else has had issues after flashing ROM's and missing an APK they used...but I have. This thread is simply for STOCK APK's and that have been developed by devs (TW4.5 by Frogger, etc.).

How to install an apk.
1) Download APK straight to your phone.
2) Use any file explorer (My Files, Root Explorer, etc) and find the downloaded apk.
3) Click on the apk and when prompted, install using the installer.
4) You are done.
*These are stock APK files, there is always the risk of these not working on custom ROM's but you shoulnd't have any issues. If you are replacing an already installed APK you may need to delete the current one and then wipe your dalvik cache in CWM.

Any idea which of these includes the agenda widget? Im running TASK650's ICS'd OUT!!! which uses TouchWhiz 4.5 and it's not there. Not even sure it will work.

Most Widgets wont work on TW4.5. I too use 4.5 so tomorrow ill try extracting them and putting them into a zip

Here are a few widgets from a TW4.5 ROM. Not exactly sure what widget is for the Agenda app but try some of these. I obviously can't guarantee these will work but they are for TW4.5.
Also, try using the TW4.5 Manager App before anything else. If you don't have it I included it as well. You can open the manager, click on widgets, and install the widgets you want.

Could you post the AT&T Hot Spots app? That is the one piece of bloatware that I actually use. It is quite useful in places where the AT&T network is overrun, like airports.

I'm not familiar with ICScrewed and don't know what it runs on. You can always try the TW4.5 weather apk and see if that works.

If you're replacing older APK's you'll probably need to wipe the dalvik cache and restart. If that doesn't work I'm not sure where to guide you. Guess I need to try ICScrewed for a couple days.

I'm running the LPB leak so i've got the ugly TW MMS.apk. I've tried MMS.APK from a CM9 download but it didn't work. Is there a flashable CWM file available? Currently using Handcent.

I've been looking into this myself, as I much prefer the ICS look to the horrible iPhone-alike TW MMS app.
There's a thread that provided the stock ICS app, but the files were on multiupload, so it's not downloadable at the moment. The OP there indicated that there was a problem running the MMS app anyway.
I have tried grabbing the MMS.apk from the latest CM9 release for the SGSII, and that exhibits the described problem; the thread list appears, but the app FCs when trying to open a message thread.

There's also an ICS MMS app on the market, but it has been modified to include ads, so I'm not interested in that one.
Some guys looked at removing the ads, but the thread was shut down (for obvious reasons).

How did you try to install.As an apk. or using root explorer to pass to system/app folder?
Just wanted to bump this thread. I love the AOSP MMS app, and it FC's on me on Samsung LPH firmware. I tried pasting it to system/app, and it fc's when I try to send a message. Hopefully someone can port this apk
I believe you have to replace another apk as well.
If you want a rom that already has it, try Spike's Pure ICS special edition. It has aosp mms, calendar and contacts.

Westcrip's Resurrection Remix 9.4 is really good too. I've been using ever since 9.2 and it's been perfect so far - no FCs or bootloops or any problems at all, really. And apps are AOSP. He also has black versions of AOSP SMS and Market among others, which I love.
+1 for the AOSP mms.apk. Also tried replacing mms.apk with AOSP from different roms but it doesn't work.
I'm using Spike's Pure ICS 6.1, too bad the special edition is only in English. If Spike (or someone else) could give us a working AOSP mms.apk that would be great!

Note:
1. Make sure you flash it only after you have already synced up your contacts with google (do not flash it immediately after flashing a new rom)
2. This zip will replace your SMS app, CONTACTS app, CALENDAR app and your CALCULATOR app to AOSP versions.
3. Be sure you take a nandroid backup before flashing.
4. You must be in a Samsung ICS ROM (XXLPQ only) for this zip to work.

Thanks RobinRichard, though unfortunately this didn't work for me on XXLPQ (root with CF-Root). Phone and messaging services die horribly after flashing that zip with CWM -- "phone has stopped" and "messaging has stopped" dialogs constantly pop up
Will have a play when I have a bit more time, but I have restored the Samsung apps for now.

Im on lpq (litening rom 2.1) and it works perfectly for me too!
I used AOSP mms.apk from Spike's Pure ICS V7.0. It worked well. Btw, I used root explorer to copy the apk in/system/app

You can use a program such as Root Explorer to remount it. If you don't have that, there are other ways to do this using adb.
Does anyone happen to have a working mms.apk thaybis the same as the one in cm9? I think the aosp one is horridly ugly as is the Sammy one, but love the one used in cm9. But because it has a long way to go yet I don't wanna run cm9 as an every day driver.

if you are using Omega ROM v11 (Stock), then congratulations, you are using a very good ROM.
this mod makes it even smaller and fixes some nasty bugs.
it removes everything thats not needed to run the ROM. if you need any system app back, just push it to the phone from the original OMEGA v11 Stock rom!
Why not install the OMEGA v11 Stock ROM and remove the apps later?
if you start with all the apps, they leave traces, call home and other things.
so its better to start a ROM without these apps ever running, not even 1 time.

*) removed Swype!!! (its the crappy version with extra umlaut-keys) if you need swipe you can install it later, or PM me for a version without extra umlaut keys
*) Phone.apk with callrecording (this time done the proper way, no FCs, compressed format for files)
*) Contacts.apk with configuable view, meaning no sms in call logs (this time done the proper way, no FCs. and settings are saved in prefs)
*) TouchWiz30Launcher.apk modded for clean startup with clean desktop (this time done the proper way)
*) moved Omega_Files_ICS_v0.1.apk from /system/app to /data/app (this thing should not be in /system/app)
*) exchanged the bootanim to NEXUS S (from Omega files), because it just looks nicer [ok, so stone me for that ...]
*) removed some annoying sounds

(so when you plugin the USB cable, it does not make that loud PING anymore)

pack the resulting directory to a new XXXX.zip file

yeah its for german only. you can see it in this picture:

It will work for v11.1 because the only thing you modified which changed in this version is the phone mod (you just won't have the full screen photo mod).
I took a look at your work, and your updater-script is REALLY messy...
You also delete the data/app folder which contains the user's apps. Not cool.
Some important files are also deleted, strange (here) ! Everything is still working after applying this ? ._.
It takes 5 minutes to theme the 3 apps modified, why didn't you do it ? ... If you modded these apps properly, it should be easy for you.
Here are the two zips themed for BB and ICS. I didn't test. It should work (as the stock one do).

yeah data/app is deleted because those can be installed from the market. not everybody want so much stuff installed
and yes everything works after applying this. thats the point. everything useless is removed. if you need any of those samsung bloatware things, dont use this mod

i posted my issue in many places and i couldnt get the right help
i flashed ultimate rom v4z and its perfect except the notifiaction light it disappeared!!!
it works when the phone is off but when its working it doesnt work it lights for a milisecond without seeing it then disapear
i tried:: !) wiping cach and dalvik cache
2) disable light control
3) reanable it
but nothing works
please help me
(V9 clean installation step by step from OP with a last wipe data/factory reset)The rom is not smooth as I expected,however is smoother than ics!
Battery life is good like ics custom roms,no way to change slide lockscreen wallpaper ,except using xperia wallpapers.
Sometime ,for just a second, there are graphic glitches.Known camera recording bug ,no way to fix for me,tried some modes but doesn't change anything.
Finally i can say that is a good JB rom! I really apreciate your hard work and i think and i hope that you can improve this rom to lead a complete bugfree and optimized rom!notification led doesn't work...

camera is not working?? what to do i hv again installed it but still same problem wid video recording..?
i'm on V8 (don't have time to upgrade to v9), with experimental kernel v6b (ondemand+sio, 400mhz-1ghz)
it's very smooth and fast!
the only problem is a few redraws of the launcher, after closing heavy apps. however it doesn't last long, i'm used to it.
also camera fc after recording, cideo is saved though (only one test, i don't use it a lot..)
I have ultimate rom v7 installed. Any idea why I can't install new fonts or change boot animation? I can't even modify the system folder :/

for your launcher redraw problem i have the fix.
download the service.jar file from the link and copy it to /system/framework and set permissions to 644 and you will never face redraw....

you can change your bootanimation by deleting the bootanimation.zip from /system/media and copy your zip there and set permissions to 755 and reboot....!!

I have Phantom kernel and ultimate rom v9.
1) I can't uninstall any system apps. I tried with ROM Customizer, it says "Failed!" everytime. I even tried deleting them with a script in CWM but I couldn't. Why is this?
2) My LED doesn't light up when I get an SMS. How can I fix this? (It works with some other apps, for ex. my alarm clock)
3) Messaging font seems too big for me, how can I adjust this?

For crying out loud make sure u follow the instructions properly and use experimental kernel
And on top of that make sure u update the binary of super user
Then u won't face any problem

1)use experimental kernel and update sure binary for system access and cwm 2)do a clean install with experimental kernel as led is workinga for all of us
3)reduce font in display

I have some apps downloaded from Samsung Apps.
and now i switch to custom rom.
how can i get them back?
i have try ti-backup and seems not working...
just keep restoring and never finish.

ROM - SLIMBEAN 4.2.2 BUILD 8
KERNEL - GOOGY-MAX 1.7.2
APPS - Polaris Office (SHOULD BE 4.75, Downloaded from Samsung Apps Store)

Custom roms are deodexed and debloated one.So you have to deodex the stock apps you want to install and just move them to system->app and change permissions to RW-R-R !!

i am not talking about the system apps or bloatware
i am talking the apps i downloaded from the samsung apps store (apps and games)
but i will give it a try.
It depends on what kind of app it is. If they need Samsung framework to run you won't be able to install them (that's the case usually, on those specific depots, the provide apps that work only with their closed source Rom).
Nothing to do with odex/deodex, that doesn't interfere with normal installation and run.
Just re-download them from samsung apps on your custom rom. Only 50% of custom roms are samsung roms though. Other 50% if custom roms, the apps won't work.
Please read general > sticky roll-up thread > understanding the basics before rooting.
Any question that uses "custom rom" is too vague to answer

I have updated with more details.

If it is a Samsung based custom rom put the app in system/apps folder of the rom zip .
If it is not a Samsung based custom rom all you can do is try the same see if it works .

Polaris, downloaded previously from Samsung apps store, won't work without Samsung apps store installed. I think it's a kind of license or TW thing as in Google play costed money but came free with the S3. I tried to restore the apk on many custom roms without avail.

I tried restore from titanium backup and it freeze during restore... probably we won't able to do it
