Bug reporter on new updates - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi guys!
I invite you joining my thread on talk.sonymobile.com (sony forums) to complain about latest firmware updates (.54 and 75) which are far from clean:
Here's the link: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/69020
***************************************************************************
And here's my post, please everyone go and tell them to hurry for a bugfix, i'm tired of wating them giving us a good update!
thank you very much for your attention!
Hey Guys!
So I'm here again like after every update!
Thank you sony for updating our phones, but hey Bugs are still here, what can we do ?
After 2 days with 6.1.1.b.1.75 here's what I can say:
- Camera: bugs like **** (in 8MPX dark scene you don't see anything and in 6MPX there's lot of "noise" on the picture (more than before, and there's a kind of blurring on the sides of the pictures) and when I take pictures in bright areas, I can see some stripes on the pictures, I'll try to get you some examples but I won't share my personnal photos huh!
- Sound bug: Noticeable when xLoud is ON, I turn xLoud OFF then ON to fix it but it fixes for 10minutes after it comes back,
it's very Annoying when pressing icons, the sound is cracking, it's even more when unlocking phone and ringing, When I unlock, sound makes normally a "click" sound, but here I can hear the speaker ON when I approach my ear to the speaker, it cracks and stays on 1 or 2 seconds after the CLICK is done (click is also cracking), it's exactly the same thing as My XPERIA X1 was doing when I installed Android on it, I mean with poor homemade drivers on XDA by some random guys (ok they were geniuses but that was not their work, sony engineers HAVE TO make a correct software)
- Lags: All gone, it's the only advantage to have .75 Firmware!
- Reboots: I have none.
- Battery: No problems battery, it's very good actually.
- invisible bar: I don't have any problems with invisible bar as some people have encountered, like higher sensitivity on one of the 3 buttons or brightness.
All I can tell you this time is that I have those bugs since .54 update, and it's absolutely a shame that I have to always go back to old firmwares just to have no bugs because new firmwares seem more stable and smooth but bugged as ****, it also was doing fine all day yesterday and started getting crazy from today! so please when you test it just test it longer than 10minutes!
I don't see any other problems for now or at least I don't remember, be sure i'll be reporting them again and again until Sony developers unstick their fingers from their ****** to fix those unacceptable bugs!

I felt a lag once this morning, but never except once in 2 days
I got an answer from Sony on facebook (yea I spammed facebook too) they told me that all bugs I reported are known and being worked on, but will be fixed in JB because they won't update ICS anymore

Upcoming ICS, Will you Update?

Ok dudes, Sony announced that the ICS upgrade may not be a good idea regarding device performance.
I know that I will not update my phone, since I don't see any use for it. Already tried ICS on transformer, and didn't see much reason to risk any performance issues.
Feel free to write your own opinion.
I don't mind the thing regarding device performance or its effect on the battery since I do not use the phone for gaming or something; just browsing/sms/calls/music/videos&photo and it lasts 24hours or more *am currently satisfied and using stock with no tweaks*. I like to try something new
i will try ICS
I will surely update to ICS as the web browsing is better in it and i mainly use it for calling and browsing
Performance issues are made up by sony. the miniCMsandwhich by Kamarush is running really well, everything is buttery smooth. and battery is really ok, too.
so if sony would put some serious effort into ICS, I'm sure they could make it run, I think they just look for an excuse to sell new phones and not put any effort in old phones.
although it doesn't look like sony will make a new keyboard-phone, at least i haven't read about any.

am using mini pro buddy but my battery doesnt last upto dat... if i should browse heavily on it, it wont last up 4-5hours!!! but music playing is ok. sometimes my battery drops without usage.
am gonna update for sure... love ICS!
Sure gonna try it.... But can anyone tell if sony releases official ics..... Then our devs will be abe to solve most of the present bugs ?!

You'll never know, if you don't try... if we can revert to ginger then it's not a problem..

Do you know something about development at least? Sony has to put all the Timescape and xperia interface to it and stuff, Thats the main problem, is not just a clean rom.

It does not mean that sony has excellent or worse devs, they have to integrate other things like their xperia facebook sharing and other stuffs possibly including another new drm feature *yes it is minor* but they also have to ensure that it will be stable and good on our phone; remember ICS was built and designed for a powerful phone so it will take a while to port it to our phones; i.e. bugfree, stable and easy on battery.
There is already a thread with the same type of discussion...
As I said on that particular thread, all current ICS users (kamarush,exMIUI,CM9), what is your battery drain %/hour? Because mine with Spartan Rom is around 0,5%/hour with 2g only active, and in deep sleep mode.
IF Sony's 4.0 manages to have that sort of battery drain I will update. Until then, GB is more than enough for me.

I just heard that the official ICS update is postponed again, mid april for the first few 2011 xperias, mini and mini pro coming later, like end of may to mid june:
http://blogs.sonymobile.com/products/2012/03/30/the-vans-around-the-corner-android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-software-upgrade-coming-to-2011-xperia-smartphones-starting-from-mid-april/
I can see it's tough to put all those things in a ROM, and I agree on the longer testing period. At least Sony does release updates, we should be happy we don't have a SGS
mid Aprils is NOW!
Haven't seen anything about a released version for the Arc S yet, but it should be just around the corner. Let's see if Sony keeps the revised schedule.
I will update my SK17i as soon as there is a final ICS available. Let's see if it will be CM or Sony ;-)
Tested CM9 (RC0, 115) already and it looks promising. The BT media issue made me switch back to stock for now.

if Sony dont want to update to ICS our xperia 2011 for low end device such as xperia mini/pro, live for walkman etc. Why dont they just make it open source for our device just like beta for Play or Ray? They afraid they will lost customer but they already lost many customer. Thats why they use promotion for new device but same performance. Stupid strategies.
Xperia Mini and others are not low-end devices. First, specs are higher than some devices. Second, these phones are inside same as Arc, Ray, Neo. Chipset is the same. That means if ray gets ICS, then others can have it also.

My speakerphone seems just the same as any other ROM I've tried including 2.13. Haptic feedback I can't say sense I usually shut it off after the first boot.
Issues I've found:
- GTA:VC will not work (works on CM10, just not Sense JB)
- Proximity Sensor doesn't always work while in a call
- Screen diming/brightening flicker while scrolling between home screens (not very noticeable though)
- Periods of significant lag (slow response time, apps takes awhile to open, recent apps takes several seconds to render)

Time to root that bad boy and come into the 2012's man, set that phone free, any ROM here is 10 times better/faster/stronger than any stock rom
Agree with musicman. I'm not rooted either but will be doing so soon. I loved my og Evo which was duly rooted with all kinds of goodies. I've waited on this device to get familiar with it and I just plain feel shackled! Ready to find my freedom once again!

You may have one or more apps that are taxing your phone. Mine is very responsive since jb. I know several apps, (go launcher, go SMS, desktop Visualizer) to name just a few that in my experiences can bring a phone to its knees.

Stock 4.3 is nice, fluid, fast, no lags, reboots faced yet (not sure what feature u were referring to)... And thanks to xposed, i've got almost everything i otherwise get from aosp roms.. excited to finally have the headphone button working again.. never worked on any aosp builds... And i was on stock rom for just a day after I'd bought the phone 3 months ago. Bloody annoying to take this huge phone out of the pocket to change tracks while riding a back.. Wonder why no one else ever said a word about that nonfunctional button.. Guess no one else listens to music on z ultra..
Cant believe we'll have to just sit n wait for Sony to bringout kitkat.. With krabappel gone, n the gpe hype fading away n with the rest of the dev communities like cm or pa or even fxp not really giving a ****, i guess sony n xposed modules are our only hope for clinging on to this magnificent beast of a phone.

So no one else has a reboot?I've had two in the last 4 days. Probably only noticed as I was using it, one I picked it up and it was half way through a reboot.

Not yet... As I always updated twice....
1. Update via PCC.
2. Make my own FTF and clean flash...
To verify random reboots.... I enabled SIM PIN so that it will stuck on PIN entry screen... Lol...

I'm on 4.3 installed via Sony Bridge some days ago and haven't had any problems since.
No random reboots at all. As a matter of fact, I think I powered it off just once to see if the boot animation had changed.
I have sound problems with the SBH52 though, as it doesn't trigger the SBH52 app when connected, hence not working right away giving commands from the headset itself (solved by uninstalling updates and re-update the Smart Connect app).
Also hearing a lot of clicking and noises while playing music, either with Walkman or Play Music.
No issues while talking on the phone. I guess it's a matter of updating the SBH52 app or the Smart Connect app.
If, and I repeat IF, this new update brings KitKat I hear A LOT of other brands fanboys screaming and throwing themselves out of the window... XD

I would guess it is a hardware issue with your phone, you'll have to send it in for repair - should only take a few days or a week at the most

[Q] getting my Z2 soon...answers?

Hey guys, purchasing my Z2 later this week hopefully but I have a few questions that are buggin me.
With the Z1 if you unlocked the bootloader it removed a camera software that made lower light performance worse, is that the case with the Z2? Or is camera quality the same?
is there actually ANYONE on here that has a non defective/ no issues with their device? All I see are complaints!
And last but not least, Has the latest update actually made the Z2 a lot faster?
Thanks

unlocking your bootloader on D65XX removes/breaks nothing at all
me and a freind have purchased two Z2s between us and it seems that the older model is poor quality and has bad issues but the one we bought a week ago has no issues
ill be buying a Z2 for my self and ill give any issues i have if any
sony have said that Z2s after mid may wont have "any issues"
the last update is an improvement but unfortionatly alot of bugs with the Z2 are still there
alot are actualy Caused by android 4.4.2, all of which are fixed in 4.4.3 the Z2 should recieve after certifacation from google
my opinion of the device:
i love the Z2 it is amazing, although the old model having some majour heating issues or random blackscreen flashes etc ive found to love the newer mid may bach device, it is extremly fast with minor things i dont like
things i dont like-
finger print magnet
too much bloatware
its made of glass (im rough with my phones - i managed to break a nokia 3310)
many others,
things i like-
fast as can be
looks simple, elegant
UI is awesome/fairly useful
sony Features i love
many others too
just ask if you want to know something

Unlocking the bootloader has no effect on the camera. Everything works except for video unlimited and music unlimited (i think).
I haven't had any problems with mine at all. Couldn't be happier.
402 is a good firmware, even the stock one seemed very polished to me. The phone is very snappy and smooth. Excellent device.

they can optionaly make things how they want, if they wanted the Z1 could have had the camera not depend on DRM keys but sony being them odd selfs i think they did to promote or push people into buying a different xperia

I heard it was something to do with removing BIONZ software, if the bootloader unlocked then it could be copied by other OEMs, that's why they removed it. but not sure.

Very plausible, the Z2 doesn't have BIONZ, at least not in software form. It does have X-Reality but that works after you unlock the bootloader. In any case, feel free to unlock, there are virtually no drawbacks. Do what I did and make sure you cash in on your free music, movies and apps first though, I believe once you're unlocked you can't use those codes. Not sure.
The only thing is, as of right now there's no way to backup the TA partition on the Z2 but honestly, I haven't found one reason not to unlock the bootloader yet.
** Edit: Z2 has BIONZ image processing, sounds like they implemented it via hardware this time.
X-Reality does not work on unlocked Z2 with the latest stock rom (.402).
Fortunately, there is a patch that bring it back

I thought the 5.1.1 for Z2 and Z3 has come more than a month ago. "in the coming weeks" BS..
Don't get me wrong, but i've had enough memory leak issue on 5.0.2. All Apps getting closed in some random time.. Ugghh..
EDIT: XperiFirm is your best friend
EDIT 2: Any thoughts or patch note for 14.6.A.1.216?

Sorry but Yeah just to make people whiny again so Sony notice us again
CM FTW. I've learned to only purchase devices that has active CM support or will definitely have in the near future. Once the device is delivered and CM is available for it I'll flash CM straight away and never go back to stock again. Same for the ZU I got.

[WARNING: XDA Premium 4.0.13+ lacks Signature function - do not update]
It's been told a few times before, 5.0.2 doesn't have memory leaks, just sayin'... It will come when it will be ready
Might not have mem leaks, but it has many issues (some of which were introduced in 5.0 and now we're waiting another version to get to previous levels of functionality) and some very serious security problems.
you know. I was wondering the same thing too where is the darn update to 5.1.1 I have big bugs on 5.0.2 the darn Bluetooth disconnects from my watch when I play some games, sound problems and some app don't works. a can only hope the sony hurry up and get that update with bugs fixed. this is why I'm using lollipup on my z ultra and KitKat on my z tablet compact cos KitKat works better then........hurry up sony........
You both guys have Chrome installed do you? Uninstall it right away, it's a totally different without it... I was amazed how this thing is making everything so slow
I am getting sick of waiting too
Even started to think we may not get it at all
I've been wondering too. I'm on Resurrection rom, but the battery is too short even with all the Xposed tweaks, so I really hope 5.1.1 Xperia firmware comes out soon, so that I can have a long battery life phone again.

That's an OS problem, not an app problem.

Yeah I know, gosh I'm not that stupid... It is just a temporary fix while we are waiting for 5.1.1 improvements, if there will be any
What Chrome uninstalling gives you?

More RAM i suppose but by deleting chrome you don't solve this. I deleted Chrome right after updating to 5.0.2 and i have still similar issues that some of users described here. I guess we need to wait for 5.1.1 and hope for fix. Btw 5.1.1 firmware was certified yesterday so it should roll out soon.
Main problem Ive got is dead background services and every app after switching. I think this can be solved only by increasing amount of ram or changing os.

Yeah, even sometimes Walkman is dying when i am listening music while browsing the web with Chrome. Switching to Firefox, even worse.. Grrr..
Any radio or music app closes when i open any other application.
So i end up using two phones, one for music and other for whatsapp and chrome.

I will be VERY surprised if they fix even ONE THIRD of the issues I see on my z ultra. ONE THIRD.
Hell, I would be perfectly happy if they just let us disable content adaptive backlight, like in the first rom, before they stupidly removed the option and instead of permanently disabling, they permanently enabled it
@d1g1m4n @hansip87 I'm using CM Browser for internet and Greenify to keep apps closed and I can listen to music and browse without any problems even with Viper4android, Chrome is just a piece of crap, it use the ram that lie on the table
@tsiros Yeah buddy, exactly. Remember how they were supposed to fix Kitkat bugs in Lollipop? They fixed a bunch but introduced a second bunch of them
Now that it has been certified we can just cross our fingers and wait but I'm not getting my hopes high given that I had 4 Sony Android phones and I don't thing they have changed that much in just a few months, y'know, it's Sony
I always got 300-400 mb ram free, no matter what am i doing or what apps hibernated in greenify, but backgr apps closing anyway.
