Games for Local Wi-Fi(LAN) or Bluetooth multiplayer. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone,
Me and some of my friends are planning to play some multiplayer games using our Android devices(XOLO, Galaxy S, Nexus 4 etc.).Seeing as all these are pretty high-end devices and have above Bluetooth 3.0,we would like to play some higher-end multiplayer games using Wi-Fi hotspot or Bluetooth. But since none of us have mobile internet, we cannot connect to the Internet to play. Can anyone offer some advice? We already have Tic Tac Toe, Drippit , but I can't find any other games(not interested in Bomberman).

I only knew minecraft, but some more games would be nice.

Local Wifi Multiplayer Games
From the games I've tested so far, these have local multiplayer over WiFi LAN:
DUAL
Muffin Knight & it's free version
MineCraft Pocket Edition
Pixel Gun 3D
ToonWarz & it's free version
Iron Wars (You've to buy Multiplayer Maps)
BombSquad
Angry Bots 9MB
Guerilla Bob & it's Tegra optimised THD version
MiniSquadron & it's Special Edition
Iron Cube
Some have local multiplayer features, but still require internet connection for ads, scoretracking or other purposes. So, you can't play them fully offline. These are some of those games:
N.O.V.A 3 Freedom Edition
Modern Combat 5: Blackout
Asphalt 8: Airborne
Wild Blood
Critical Strike Portable (Requires you to create online account even for local multiplayer)
I tested them on my fone (Android 5.0 "Lollipop") and some on my tablet (Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwitch"). Note that I've only tested with 2 players at a time. So, I don't know if any of those games are true "multi"player games. And I haven't tested any game for Bluetooth Multiplayer mode, mainly bcoz I prefer WLAN/WiFi Direct over Bluetooth due to speed and stability improvements. Besides, it's mostly the old games that have Bluetooth only multiplayer mode; most new ones have WLAN/WiFi Direct mode.
And thanks to @androidmulti for sharing info about this awesome site dedicated to multiplayer android games:
https://sites.google.com/site/androidmultiplayergames/
This cool site gives a tabulated list of (almost) all WLAN, WiFi Direct and Bluetooth multiplayer games for Android. Infact, it's the most complete listing of Android local multiplayer games that I could find. And judging by the overwhelming number of games it lists (about 500-600 ones by now ), you won't need to look anywhere else for multiplayer games! So, what're you waitin for? Go ahead 'n try them out! :good:

I'd be interested in this too.
Here's one though, popular on market nowadays.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...idgames.tank1990&feature=apps_topselling_free

Yeah, there should be more Local Multiplayer games. I think the potential for local multiplayer games are underutilised in mobile field. Most games advertising multiplayer are Online ones.
As of now, there are only few good quality free games with Local multiplayer. Many users are unaware about the multiplayer capabilities of their device, especially in case of WiFi. Most don't understand how to connect devices with wifi, i.e starting hotspot and connecting via WiFi. Comparatively, bluetooth games are easier for users to connect and play. But, all devices don't have Bluetooth(especially Tablets, like mine). A fraction of Local Multiplayer games are for Bluetooth only, eg: Bluetooth Bomberman, Tanks, making them unplayable on many devices wid WiFi only. Many confuse between Multiplayer Local WiFi and Online connected through WiFi. And finally to make things worse, the developers of games don't usually advertise the Local WiFi multiplayer as an important feature. Gamers have to raid through google and play store to find out WiFi games. I tried googling, but couldn't find any decent and uptodate listing of Local WiFi Multiplayer games on Android.

There's one indie game with multiplayer over wifi. It can even combine multiplayer and AI: Annelids
It's basically worms real-time. It is paid though...

well its old thread I know but I was looking similar game for bluetooth and couldnt find much
Are there any card games available over bluetooth which you ppl have tested and are gd

[Q] Multiplayer games on Android?

any games that offer=
1)multiplayer on the same device
2)multiplayer via bluetooth
3)multiplayer via wifi
android v android or cross platform!!!
Live Holdem Poker Pro is over any internet
Glow Hockey 2 has same device multiplayer
Words with Friends is multiplayer cross platform
NOVA 2 has WiFi multiplayer
Drag Racing is over any internet
there are more but i cant think of at the moment.
4 Player Reactor is pretty fun. Also has 2-player mode. It's a game where it will show you a trivia question, or a pattern, or some other puzzle-type thing, and all 4 (or 2) players have a section on the screen to tap when they see the right answer. Pretty simple and well done, can be played anywhere.

In for an answer… I'm looking for good (local) multiplayer games since two years, but still almost nothing pops up. Meanwhile, quite a lot of my friends do have Android phones (whereas two years ago I was the only one and my search was pretty hypothetical).
But I have one to add to the list: GalaxIR is a fun game to play over (local) WiFi.
Anyone got more?

For a wireless experience, upgrade to AirSync, which syncs your iTunes music, photos and videos with your Mac or PC over your home WiFi network:
Pros- Quite cool looking UI. Reminds me of the iPod touch UI. Great system. Also has Lockscreen provison i.e. that it changes the lockscreen while play music. Also plays videos.
Cons – Takes up a lot of space (6mb). Cannot be moved2sd. Recent update i.e. the addition of AirSync is quite irritating. Keeps on asking for the email id and asks to download AirSync.

PlayerPro (PAID- Rs. 220)

Cons – Not many themes available. Sometimes becomes laggy. Quite pricy.

Best Productivity Apps
Move2SD Enableler (root)
This is the first app that I install when I install any new rom. This app proably changes and multiplies the capablitlites of our Galaxy 3. Using this App you can force any App to get installed on your sd card. Imagine a 7mb Asphalt Game that will occupy some 800 kbs! By this I have installed Angry Birds Rio, Season, Asphalt, and other games and had space to install much more. Don’t forget this requires root permissions.
Chainfire 3D
If you want to play Alphalt , NFS Shift, Gangster Miami or any other HD game, you need to use chainfire 3D by which you can play these games. Also one thing that you need the game resolution to that of the Galaxy 3. You can go to this site for chainfire 3d tutorial and Games.

Nope, won't work.
Added CSPortable to list. Works great with pad and HDMI, proper call of duty FPS type shooter with online multiplayer and it's free. Unofficial pc counter strike port/based by people from the Russian pda forums. I rate this game high so give it a try plus only takes up 40mb of storage
Edit : forgot to say that to enable sticks and buttons you will have to map them in the in-game controller settings first and disable gui to take on-screen controls away.

On certain games like max Payne, gta, shadowgun etc they will automatically hide but some don't and will have to change in settings. As for RR2 it has no support but if have root purchase the sixaxis app and that will allow you to map the pad to onscreen presses, so the pad will act like you touching the onscreen controls (this method applys to nearly all android games so is worth rooting just for this app). Hope this helps

There's a whole sixaxis app thread in the main xda general apps section which contains helpful info and also pre made profiles for games to make it easier plus the developer of the app has a web site with full instructions. But I must say that native pad supported games work a lot better as the games where made for controllers.

1) I mite try to update this thread but its had no interest for like a year so what's the point. Also its now in the wrong section as its all been moved around by XDA.
2) Thread was made for Xperia S smartphone. NOT xperia S tablet but does not matter as work the same.

They should do. If I was you I would use Robert broglia's emulators on market as they are so much better. NES.emu, Snes9x (find it free on his web site, link on the market under description in the other emus or link is here), MD.emu (also now has Sega CD built in), 2600.emu

[Q] WLAN Racing Game for android

I am looking for Local Multiplayer Racing games for android. I already know about Asphalt And Real Racing. But, my device is unable to run these games. I tried Slingshot Racing and Mini motor Racing, but the game view is not as like Asphalt or Real Racing(its like satellite view, you know, looking in the race track from the sky !!!) I read about Drift Mania Street Outlaw& Championship1,2 and installed them. All of them claim that they have Local Multyplayer mood. But, I saw only "Online" option in the Multiplayer, no "Local wifi" or somthing simillar to WLAN.
My question no-1 is, am I missing any settings or anything in "Drift Mania"? Or, its just online multiplayer game?
Quesiton no-2, is there any "Racing" games out there alike Asphalt or Real Racing which have WLAN mood? (Dont suggest Slingshot Racing or Mini motor Racing). If there is any game fulfilling my demand, please name it. I really need it badly.
Thanks in advance.
And, sorry for my bad English.

Raging Thunder can be played on WLAN, works with lower end and phones. Also check Raging Thunder 2 for better graphics and better gameplay.
