Go to settings /storage then tap the 3 dots in the top right hand corner twice and put a tick in MTP .
It will then charge .

Hey guys i have the samsung galaxy tablet 10.1 model gt-p7510ma and the screen wont turn on. One day i accidentally hit the power and the volume buttons and now this device's screen wont turn on! I am at a complete loss as to what could be wrong. i was told that i may have to flash it back to factory to get it to work but i cannot find any stock rom download links. i have never dropped this thing so i dont know why the screen would just go out.
Does anyone have any suggestions tips or things that i may try to get this thing back operational? Right now it is just a 500$ brick. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?
EDIT: when you hook tab up to computer it shows up as APX in device manager under unknown devices. I dont know if this helps but that a little more info.
Steve
have you tried charging it?
Apart from that I believe this is non-dev related, should go to Q&A section.
It might be that your device has hung. Press Power button and keep it pressed for 10seconds or something like that. And then try to turn it on again.
Sometimes it hangs like that. Especially if you are on some unstable custom rom.

it is actually running the stock rom I never rooted it or anything like that. To the guy above, of course I tried charging it that didn't work. It doesn't even show that it is charging on the scree. I have pressed and held the power button trying to get it into bootloader mode, but that did nothing. Wonder why the computer is picking it up as APX. Wonder what that is? Thank for the suggestions so far!
If you are on stock and not even rooted, then just take it back to shop or service for warranty. You will get if fixed immediately or working back in a week. Better play safe.
In your case I would do so.

black screen and apx on the computer usually means you're in the mode needed for nvflash.
i forget how to get out of that mode, but google nvflash and apx you should be able to get an answer.

Hey guys,
I've been having this same problem the last 24 hrs or so now. I'm running custom rom Cynagoen mod ICS 4.03. This is apparently one of the more stable roms out there. Prior to this I ran an alpha stage jelly bean rom which ran just fine until last night. After leaving the screen off for an hour or so, the screen won't turn on after pressing the power button. I reboot every time and that seems to work. Is there something I need to do here? Should I look for another rom, maybe a 3.x? Thanks guys

Maybe try upgrading your CM9 install. 4.0.4 is the latest flavor of ICS.

You could try reading the entire thread. Hold the power button down while touching the screen. That fixes the SOD (Sleep of death).
This is really beginning to annoy me. Cant keep the thing to stay on unless it is plugged in to the AC adaptor. Shuts off withing 15 seconds of being unplugged. Running AOKP rom and everything started last night. Have had transfromer since February and Asus support said some bs like their servers are overloaded and to call again in 4 hours.

I know it sounds noobish, but did you check display settings? There is a 15 second screen time out option...maybe it's set to that? There's also a " always keep device awake while plugged in" option.
Otherwise I would go ask jermaine151 about that...he's extremely helpful.
I just came back to AOKP Milestone 5 an hour ago, and I'm not having any problemos.
Other than that, maybe a simple reflash might help.

Damn...if it does that across multiple ROMs and it's not settings it sounds like a hardware problem...sucks ass man.
Only other thing I would try is going back to the stock kernel if you're not already running it.
Don't know man..maybe someone else can shed some light.
Curious, you say it only stays on if plugged in to the charger? Does it stay on then if it's attached to the keyboard dock? If you have one..

I ordered a keyboard dock a week or so ago so hopefully it will fix my problem. I open the battery calibration app and it says i have 7mv!!! I am pretty sure ASUS will not fix it or give me a new one because it has an unlocked bootloader. Maybe if i brick it where it wont get past the first bootscreen they wont know?
Minor Update
Tried Flashing Stock Kernal -No Luck
50th Battery Recalibration - No Luck
Wiped/Factory Restore - No Luck
Slammed Transformer on desk in frustration - Sucess!!!
So far been running it for 30 minutes and no shut down. Maybe violence is the key to all our problems?

Hello! I know there has been many threads like this while i have been searching through the forum, but i can't find what i need to know!
Basically just rooted/flashed my S2 with new resurrection rom and on reboot it won't turn on, I can get into download mode and when i plug a charger in the charging animation comes up but nothing happens, just a empty battery with a circle in the middle!
What to do?
Edit: Currently restoring old backup, Fingers crossed!
Back up worked!

Hello!
This is my first post here but I know people here are generally very helpful since I have been playing around with roms on my i9100 quite a bit the last year, and I have never had any problems - until yesterday when I installed the last cm10 nightlies. It simply won't charge. I tried over night with the AC and now all day with the USB cable plugged into the computer, but no charging. Now it is completely empty and I can't even get into CWM recovery mode to do a factory reset or restore a backup.
The only activity I get at all is that the phone restarts continuously while plugged into the computer (windows 8), only to realize it's battery is empty, and then reboots, and so on...
So, to my question: Can this have anything to do with the rom? Or is it more likely to be hardware? Any help is highly appreciated!

first to confirm battery issue, try a friends phone(S2)battery and see, if its wrk'ng fine, then u can buy a new battery for ur phone
Hello everyone...
I'm a new member, but certainly not new to this great forum! Unfortunately, though, my first post is to report - and ask for help with - a little disaster!
Okay, so, without further ado, here's how it went down.
I had flashed both phones with ICS earlier, but wanted to get them back to the factory ROM. Having bought yet another U, I found out that the original GB ROM for phones sold in Saudi Arabia is st25i_6.0.b.3.188, as opposed to .184, which I had also flashed the phones with after I had some issues with the aforementioned ICS.
So, last night I located and downloaded the .188 kernel and flashed it using the flashtool. As it usually happens, the flashtool window seemed to go all black, as though the application had hung on me, which wasn't the first time this had happened. I just gave it some time as I normally do and then disconnect the phone, and that never caused any problems. To my surprise, though, when I first started the phone and checked the "about phone" tab in settings, it turned out that the installed version was .184!
So, again, I attempted to reflash the thing, this time being sure to remove all other kernels from the firmware folder within the flashtool. I then just let it do its thing and went off to bed (bad idea!).
In the morning, though, the phone simply wouldn't start. If I hook it to either the computer or the charger, the LED near the front camera will light up red, indicating that the battery is being charged, but nothing else. I can't even boot into recovery mode!
So, now what can I possibly do (besides buying a new one, that is)?

This has all signs of a low battery problem ... plug in your phone to the charger for half an hour and wait ..... pull it out and it should boot .. Post your findings in any case :good:

:good: Thanks dude! It fired up on its own as soon as I plugged it into the charger! I just charged up the batter to full 100%, and I'm about to try to reflash it for the third time. What I don't get, though, is why the battery got drained when the phone had been plugged into the laptop all night! There was about 82% of charge left in the battery when I first plugged it into the machine.
I'll report back again after reflashing. Thanks again.

Glad it worked out .
Charging via usb is very slow and if you've left something like wifi on all night then there's no doubt that it you're battery is gonna die
Any way , why GB ? The .89 ICS is supposedly awesome . Haven't tried it myself but, I've heard rave reviews from all the people who have.

Yeah, that's probably it. I had this (obviously misguided) idea to try to get the phone back to the exact way it was out of the box, and then wait (and wait, and wait...) for Saudi Arabia's turn for the ICS update. Now I know better, thanks to you and all the other helpful folks over here!
