iwhenever i bootup my phone turns into colors then turns white and my computer wont recognize it. i am running blackstar x and am rooted. if anyone can help me i'd appreciate it. oh and i cant go into recovery but can access odin.

Agreed....
and once the new image is pushed over to the device, you will need to boot once, then reboot into recovery and wipe all caches and data.
Otherwise, you will have dirty flashed, and you will have stability issues....g
I've never used odin I am reading up on it now as far as I can tell you can't flash zip files so do you know any good roms I can use for my galaxy note?

Odin is used to push stock image files...
And they can be found in the super thread, at the top of the general section.
concentrate on getting a stock build running properly first, then we can worry about custom builds later.

well I ran loading and it came up with firmware upgrade in encounter in issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again so I will do the next I guess. but I can never get kies and the phone to connect.
can't get kies and phone to connect and i followed all the steps. what gives?
update: after 16 hours with kies decided to give odin one more shot on a different computer. she's back up and running! now to decide with what rom to go with. LOL. thanx guys for the help.
Kies is a fickle pig. Sometimes you're using the wrong cable or usb port.

wow this is unbelievable when it went to reboot and never came back on and it makes the Microsoft Windows keep asking you need to format a disk in drive D before you can use it so itslight turning itself on in 3 seconds in 3 to 4 second intervals. then the computer started loading drivers for a Qualcomm CDMA technologies MSM now where would that come from?
evidently from what i have gathered through many hours of reading and studying, i have hard-bricked my device. like i reported in previous post my computer will recognize it in short intervals. it continues to attempt to download drivers for Qualcomm CDMA.....but disconnects before finishing installing. one time ofter unplugging it left an icon that read.....oh i forget but i immediately looked it up and all reports from xda says that means a hard brick. called service provider and they are sending out new one but what happens when they recieve it and see that it has been rooted? i would really like to keep trying to save the phone i have. any suggestions?

first off I would like to say thank you for all of your guys help.how do I send a link from the Odeon file that I used?and I am pretty positive that it is hard brick.I do not want to be dishonest in I want to resolve this on my own.oops I mean with your help of course.

okay i took your advice and sent the replacement back. your right if i can't spend $50 to save my $600 phone i shouldn't start on this road. however as thorough as i usually am i am not very organized. i started installing upgrades and little modifications for my friends and family as a little hobby. then other people started asking me for this and that, so i would help them. so, i have downloaded a LOT of things to my computer (ROM's, MOD's,, etc.) for different android phones and from different forums (now i only use software from xda) and i rarely delete or uninstall anything. needless to say my computer started to look like a teenagers bedroom. i have now started to organize things so i can get a better grip on what i'm doing so i can take this more serious. with that being said i can't remember exactly what file i used to flash with Odin. is there some kind of log that is automatically kept by Odin?.....i have decided to try to use a phone jig to get my phone to at least turn on. is that a wise move? i am studying all there is available on the ins and outs of phone jigs. if that fails i will send off to be JTAG'd. if there is any advise or info that you feel i could use please send my way. thank you.

A clean and reliable PC environment is at least as important as the proper files.
Maintenance is king on any file structure...
And while I feel badly that your device was damaged, I applaud your choice in sending back the replacement device.
People forget that when these phone manufacturers take back damaged product under warranty, they increase the price of new devices to maintain the same profit margin.
We pay at the register for others mistakes.

My brother went and flashed a custom international rom. He doesnt remember which one, not that I think it matters at this point. Ive flashed many roms, I've even bricked a few phones, but with alot of reading on the xda site, and all the help from dev's have always unbricked my phone. His samsung doesnt turn on, does not go into recovery or into download mode. Ive tried taking the battery out holding both + - vol then usb then battery. nothing. When plugged into usb without battery, light turns on, when plugged into comp , comp starts looking for a driver, so i dont think its complety bricked yet, but it comes back with this message QHSUSb_dload. Ive read up on other phones on this message, any help with how to solve this. thanks
First slap him for not reading and then go to the development section of your carrier and look for fix thread for your issue I know attention has none not sure about the other carriers.

If he's seeing QHSUSB DLOAD its hard bricked. From what I've seen looking into this, I believe some HTC's have been able to be recovered from this mode but its not possible for us w/o JTAG. Someone correct me if I'm wrong and shed some light on the subject if they have any. Very intrigued by this and think that somehow an unbrick could be done with this with the right tools/knowloedge

I looked at my the dev section there is no fix that I could find. So I posted the question in the proper samsung galaxy section. I dont believe there is a solution yet aside from sending it in. A few posts here and there touched base on it but I dont think anyone yet on here has eff'd there phones up to this point. Ive went through every samsung section to see if there were any similar post and nothing has really touched base, on it or ive triied it.

Yes I found four posts about the similar qhsusb dload, and also read about jtag, already gave my brother the website url, to contact about sending the thing in. I just havent been able to find a solution on here.
well ill have to find and reread the stuff i saw abt the htc's cuz if im not mistaken some were actually made unbrickable because of this. i was able to install drivers, and talk to the phone with a couple of things, including odin but it just hung as i expected it to. I think something could be done with this, dont seem like the typical hardbrick. let a couple more people brick this thing, if its possible someone will figure it out

It is never impossible to brick a device. This is why one should know what they are doing before they do it. I mean really, he doesn't even know what rom he flashed? Flashing a device is not for everyone nor should everyone do it. If you don't understand what your doing then don't do it.

Well, the best thing to do would be to go to the sprint section and look at mskip's sticky with his toolkit, and load the qualcomm drivers. it's an ugly situation, but that's your best lead.

Ya I did that about 4 hours ago, in my devices and printers, in now says QHSUSB_DLOAD is working properly. Yet I cant get it to connect to the toolkit, to odin, I cant even find the phone with cmd. it makes a noise everytime you plug it in to the comp, well the comp does and it searches for drivers and installs them, they all installed correctly the first time aside from the one above that was fixed. Thanks though for the help, I really appreciate it.
If no other solutions work, a JTAG repair WILL unbrick your device. MobileTech Videos (www.mobiletechvideos.com) offers JTAG repair for the SGS3. I've used them to purchase a download mode jig and they have fast turn around times, great customer service, and excellent service. You really can't go wrong using them. Hope it all works out and you can get your device unbricked.
Let us know how you hard bricked it so we can do that when we need to get our phone warranty replaced without customer service seeing the custom flashed counter!

I did search around and didn't find a specific answer to this, I did see someone was looking to modify some binary values but no confirmation if it worked. Anyways I have successfully used many roms on my phone and tablet but last night after using CWM and the rom flashed successfully I rebooted the device and then nothing. Blank screen. Nothing happens when I charge. Used the wife's battery fully charged to see if it would help. Tried three-button boot method. All nothing. It's just dead.
Now I'm guessing I must have missed a step somewhere and fully take responsibility for what happened, and would pay for a repair - but can Samsung even repair a device in this state? I talked to an agent on the phone last night and openly told them what happened and asked how much it would be to repair and he said he couldn't give me any information without sending the device in. This is my mistake to get my phone in this state so I don't want to sneak my way into a warranty replacement. Is it worth the wait as Samsung can fix this, or should I just buy a new phone?

They can repair bricked phones for a very reasonable cost. Samsung may see it and void your warranty. I'd go with Mobiletech. I've heard they do great work on bricked phones.
The above advice is good, assuming your device is truely hard bricked.
However, from your description, it's hard to figure how you bricked it. A true brick usually happens when an attempt to flash a bootloader partition gets interrupted in the middle. There are possibly other ways, but it's not very easy, actually. So, is there absolutely no sign of life? Nothing you can do will even get a flicker of light on the screen? You cannot enter download mode, or recovery mode. You have tried all of these? No point in spending $50 on a jtag repair if you can recover the phone yourself.
I would also be interested in a complete description of the steps that led up to the problem.
I'm a little embarrassed to post this but don't want to waste anyone's time. It is totally bricked but I know why.

Still might not be hard bricked. Mine did this a few weeks ago for no reason. Had been running fine then wouldn't boot one day. Wouldn't boot at all. Could not get into recovery.Nothing. Only thing that worked was connecting through Odin. Had to then flash original Gingerbread. Phone then booted fine. I have since rooted again and I'm now dual-booting SHOstock and Rootbox. Try Odin first.

I don't really know much about the I727 architecture, but I seriously doubt if your device is hard bricked. You should still be able to get into download mode via the normal procedure (maybe, or if not with a usb jig) for your phone, and then flash a good I727 rom, I believe. There are no bootloaders or partition information, or param files in any of the I777 roms, as far as I know, so there's really not much of anything that can do serious damage.
Try getting in to download mode by With your phone off and unplugged. Enter download mode by pressing and holding the power and volume down buttons and plugging in the USB cable before the lights blink. I don't know it will work on i727 but worth a try..GL

Interesting. Well I suppose it is possible I had a legitamite hardware failure completely unrelated to the software issues. I did some searching around for hardware failures instead and found some very similar cases to this.
Exactly what happened. I downloaded the wrong rom, rebooted in cwm, wiped, then flashed the rom. It went successfully and I rebooted from cwm then during boot right after the samsung logo all the lights went off and the screen went black. I left it like this for about 45 mins to an hour and had dinner just in case it was still doing something. The battery was fully charged at the time I started the procedure, and I have tried using the wife's battery to make sure mine wasn't dead. My battery also functions without issues in her phone. I had done this successfully multiple times on my phone before and tablet, and successfully flashed two or three different roms on my wifes phone last night.
I tried every suggestion mentioned, and followed the guide as well. There is no glimar of life. If this is hardware I might be wasting my money with Mobile Tech but I suppose we'll know for sure soon. Phone is shipping off today.

In case anyone was interested it looks like the device was a hardware failure.
"Unfortunately, I was not able to repair your device. The device's onboard EMMC controller was in a non-responsive state. It is advised to try out warranty replacement if possible or to search for a parts device and use it's mainboard for the swap."

Never was really a samsung fan until I got my i777. Blackjack? wth was that? Browsing with opera was off the hook though so the phone grew on me. Now I tried simply flashing a different i777 kernal because ICS constantly freezes and the phone bricks? Sent it to Mobile Tech Videos.... EMMC is in non responsive state for me too wtf Samsung? Had my nexus one twice as long and flashed twice as many times and its still rockin. Now will definitely think twice before going Sammy.

Did you wipe in ICS's stock recovery before flashing that different kernel? Because there's a well known brickbug with the I777's stock ICS kernel, where if you use it to do anything before you flash custom kernels, it'll mess up your EMMC and brick your phone. If this is what happened to you, I would suggest you do more reading before flashing anything again; different phones operate differently, and even if you're a pro at flashing stuff on a galaxy nexus that doesn't mean squat when it comes to flashing an I777. I don't mean to be harsh or offend you, I just want you to know that reading more is always a good idea, and that there's a chance that it wasn't Samsung's fault you wound up with a bricked device.
He could always try the jig to kick it into download mode. Read up about it. It may save you some money.

I really wish I could have started from a stock phone but that was a great deal to me, and this is how things are.
The situation:
I bought a MINT Atrix 4 for $125. Great. Well the phone already has what the guy called "Jelly bean" installed which is cm10 if I understand correctly (the phone wont be activated till next week).
The problem:
He said "DO NOT try to record a video. The camera works, just not the video recorder. He also says WiFi doesn't work and DO NOT touch that either. Now that's a problem.

I wouldn't call a broken phone mint. If wifi doesn't work, its likely that bluetooth doesn't either and if that's the case, you got screwed as the only way to repair it is to send to motorola. Which since you're not the original owner means you have to pay for the repair. I'd return it if he didn't disclose the broken wifi. Good luck

It wasn't an eBay purchase so returning it isn't an option. Besides, I never said bluetooth doesn't work. From what I read, when both are not working its hardware and software if only one (most of the time).

You're right you didn't say bluetooth wasn't working. Its just a known error around the forums. Really no need to snap at me or get defensive. I was not in any way belittling you so I dont appreciate your attitude from a self proclaimed NOOB. That being said, I'm over it and I agree with the other post saying to try another rom. Is it joker or epinter cm10 that its on? (Those right now are the active developers of cm10 for the atrix) If its either of those, read thru their developer posts and see if wifi not working is a known issue.

Really need to start recovering the phone not throwing roms at it till its fixed. Atrix is an odd ball when you get tied up in partitions and file locations. My suggestion would be to checkout fruitcake and start from there . There are more risky ways of getting out of that rut by try the easy stuff first. Phone needs a clean start and all new files. Cm10 has some issues depending on the logic board revision you have. Before you ask the only way to tell is to physically compare one logic board to another and there are very subtle difference. I only stumbled across this by accident during some full tear downs . I usually judge by symptom then treat them accordingly .
Like I stated above fruitcake is my recommend and I have used it numerous times with trouble phones that need a clean start.

Hey guys,
The problem started last night, i had no sound coming from my speaker. After some checking i found that for some reason the phone was thinking that my headphones are always connected, even if they were in the other room. I tried reflashing it, and i couldn't boot up anymore. Tried flashing new kernel, nothing. Tried flashing stock firmware, nothing. The phone won't accept any firmwares. So i tried to REPARTITION with odin. And i think i got the wrong tutorial
My phone is a gt-i9100, and i repartition it with omap4_all_20110627_emmc.pit
In odin was like this:
pit file selected
auto reboot selected
re-partition selected
f.reset time selected
And start.....all done, green light but the phone won't power on, won't enter recovery/download.
Now what?
Posting questions in the general forum = bad
Flashing an I9100G .pit on an I9100 = worse
JTAG.
JTAG won't help you, because it is not bootloader corruption. Motherboard replacement will fix it.

That, and it was already established he used a pit file not meant for his device, which is what went wrong.
try force download mode, you need some one to help u

so is there any progress on this issue?
I did not want to open a new thread because this thread explains exactly my situation and I am posting here because this thread did not help me.
I have since yesterday the same problem. I unfortunately also repartitioned my Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 with "omap4_all_20110627_emmc.pit" which actually is the wrong one.
(I know it is "stupid" but please do not explicitly state it in your replies, I am already aware of it.)
Is there a possibility fix this issue by repartitioning with the correct one?
Current Situation:
- My phone is not booting up
- not going into the download mode
- not going into the recovery mode
- if I plug into the PC with a USB cord, PC and Odin is not recognizing it
- if I try to charge it, I see no icon at all
- in short: it is dead
Solution I have found so far:
1- replace the motherboard
2- buy a usb jig
3- throw it away
So my question is about second (possible?) solution: if I buy a usb jib will I be able to use Odin to repartition with the right pit file? Did someone have experience or try this method?

The jig more than likely won't work, but you may as well try one given they cost 1/3rd of sod all.
Option 1 tends to be the only way to fix the phone. And obviously option 3 is always possible (People who use the 'I'm going to smash it/throw it away/etc' line here tend to get ignored for the childish fools they are. We don't care what you do with your phone).
Edit -Yes, using a wrong PIT is the height of stupidity. Despite thousands upon thousands of warnings here/elsewhere not to touch PIT's unless you have a very specific reason for using one (0.000000001% of cases, you were not one of those people), people still do it.

Thanks for your answer. I thank you just for the part where you have written "Option 1 tends to be the only way to fix the phone.". This was enough for me to hear considering your experience in this forum. For the rest:
1: What would you do if your phone is not booting up and shows the Samsung logo even you wait 1 hour? Assuming that you already used options in recovery mode and also used Odin to update PDA several times?
2: Then you found a tutorial which says this is for Samsung Galaxy S II no further specifics given other than I9100.
3: Different people have different sense of humor so I do not blame them when I see in many forums where they write throw it away. I think it does not make sense to overreact to such suggestions. For example I just laughed when I read something like this.

1) If I'd tried everything (and I mean everything, over and over and over), I'd assume the NAND is stuffed, bite the bullet & have the motherboard replaced one way or another. I'd either find a 2nd hand one & have a local mobile repair shop/not an authorised Samsung repairer replace it for me, or if I couldn't find one I'd pay an authorised Samsung repair to put a new one in. Or I'd get a new phone.
2) Before I got my phone I did a lot of research/reading/learning. For over a month. When I got my phone, I did even more research/reading/learning. I didn't jump blindly in messing with my phone without knowing what I was doing. If I saw some dodgy tutorial that told me to use a PIT when everything else I'd read said not to touch except for a very specific situation, I wouldn't touch a PIT unless I was in that very specific situation. Knowledge is power & stops you doing silly/desperate things. It's like putting your hand on the stove when you've already learned you'll get burnt if you do.
3) I'm glad you found what I said amusing. That probably speaks to why you broke your phone in the first place. I was deadly serious. From where I sit, a $700+ piece of electronics is too important to me not to take its continued proper functioning very very seriously. I realise some people get a new phone every 6 mths or whatever or don't care. To me, that's wasteful.
Edit - If you're able to have it assessed cheaply/for free, it might (again, less likely than more) even be JTAG'able, but I wouldn't be spending a lot of money up front having it looked at given it's likely not to be.

1. It is nice to hear that in any case the motherboard should have been / be repaired. You are right that was an expensive try but even if didn't I had to let the motherboard repaired. It was written the same thing as you said: the motherboard should be repaired so why not try this option: yes awful but if you have no other option and you tried really everything, you just give it a try.
2. I have been using this Samsung Galaxy SII since a couple months after it is first launched (mid 2011) and did not have any problem so far, so I did not have any interest or reasons to learn about flashing or any advanced methods.
3. Sorry there is a misunderstanding there. I found amusing not you have written but when I saw on an android forum where they written whether let the motherboard repaired or throw away/sell parts and buy a new phone instead. This "piece of electronics" is too expensive not only for you, I think for many people including me. That is why I posted here before giving 125€ to an authorised Samsung repairer.

Well. My curiousty led to a hard-bricked phone
It's definetly official. I am not going to install any more custom roms after this. To make my story breif. I aquired a motorola atrix 2 phone, and had read it could accomdate a custom rom, so I used a one click root method program and the program said it had done its job. I booted into the recovery and installed the rom, which ended in an infinite reboot. Great, so I read more on how to revert back to firmware using rsd lite. I did this, but the battery was dead. so I went out and purchased anther battery, attempted the restore, phone restart, then BOOM. it stayed black and now it wont come on. wtf.
Can any please recommend the proper cable I have to order to get the phone back working>?

You should flash roms with custom recoveries that built for your device like clockworkmod or twrp recovery.

Thank you. But an experienced repair guy said my phone wasn't responding to neither the USB jtag or the fast boot. So my phone is dead forever? Should I start digging its grave?
Sure sounds this way, and you shouldn't be doing JTAG through the USB port anyway unless your phone is something special I've never heard of
But in truth rooting your phone won't damage it, it just gives someone the opportunity to do so. I'm a firm believer in rooting all androids so long as they read and understand what they are doing, its very hard to brick a phone if you know what you're doing
So although this phone may be dead forever (unless you find someone who for sure knows the proper way to JTAG it) then still consider rooting your next one, just be sure to completely understand what's going on, and try to stay away from one click roots, its hard to learn anything from this

*side note, if you still have warranty and your phone is completely unresponsive chances are you will get your warranty exchange, just play dumb and say "I was playing angry birds and it just froze, now it won't turn on"

I wish I had warranty on this thing. I got it second hand from craigslist. However i've managed to acquire an HTC inspire 4G, what an upgrade from a motorola cliq xt! I would love to install jelly bean on this thing but after messing up the Atrix 2 i'm scared I will F*ck this one up too. I can never find clear and concise instructions on the internet. Every web page I visit, it seems to be someones personal way of doing it. Steps not mentioned, or instructions written for intermediate users. For example, Every video or piece of instruction i've watched on youtube regarding booting into the fast boot on the atrix 2, said something about holding volume up and power button upon booting and I would see something on the top of the screen. However that did not work, First I had to use the volume down and power button, then I would get to this fastboot screen where those recovery options werent available, from there I had to hold both volume buttons down and press the power button twice which would bring me to the recovery options screen. thats just one example, and even then for some reasons I didn't have all the recovery options the instructions spoke of... for example. Very annoying and frustrating. On a side note, is there anyone on this site who lives in the US that can unbrick my atrix 2? The guy who repair phones I took it to said theres a device for 250.00 bucks he's waiting to get that can unbrick any device. However he doesnt have the funds and had gotten laid off work. I am just having a hard time believing a simple soft user error could permanently damage my device forever and that as sophiscated as our technology has gotten there's absolutely no way to revive it.

I can't attest to the videos you saw, but for most androids this is the best site with the most info, I only suggest being sure how to root before you do it, and to understand how the method works as well. When your not understanding this is when bricks happen.
I know it can be lots of reading and lots of questions but in the long run its worth the time
As for the JTAG equipment there are many who have it and you can easily spend less than 250 on getting the proper stuff.
Every logicboard is different so maybe this machine he speaks of has a wide variety of cables that come with it, but he's still paying too much
Anyway, most people seem to charge 50$ or so to JTAG it back, if that's more than the phone is worth to you just sell it on eBay for parts
