[Q]Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 Lockscreen with Widgets - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys
I very, very like the idea of new Android 4.2 lockscreen with widgets, but I want it on my s3, too.
So ist anyone around who knows a mod that adds the lockscreen to this device (running wanamrom), or anyone who could make such a mod?
Pls.

Any custom ROM that is based on Android 4.2.1. Your current list is CM10.1, SlimBean, task650's AOKP, AOKP, Illusion, and LiquidSmooth. Jellybam will be updating sometime today for the I9300, hopefully soon for the other SIII variants (d2att, d2tmo, etc.). I have tried all of them so far except for Jellybam on my AT&T SIII, and CM10.1 nightlies were working the best for me, but the rest give you some more options since they are AOKP-based.
Good luck

Yep i had jellybam but it has a lock screen bug cannot wake up again after locked the problem is I don't want to loose s3 features like touchwiz, multi window amd others
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

You tried the Jellybam for I9300? He got that out fast
Just bear in mind that the only version so far of android to natively support widgets on the lock screen is jellybean 4.2.1.

Widgets aren't supported on TouchWiz since the S3 hadn't updated to 4.2.1 yet. If you want your ToucjWiz and stuff, check out an app called WidgetLocker.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app

Jellybam nightly for s3 already includes the new lockscreen with widgets and new quick settings and all the stuff but well it has that lockscreen lag that makes it impossible to use it probably
Edit: it's the thing that i want the new Android stuff always but don't like the original android looking as on nexus but different from many others I love the s3 touchwiz
Unfortunately the won't ever be stuff from the premium suite on aosp or aokp roms, so i can't wait for 4.2 for s3 ^^

What exactly do you mean by lockscreen lag? I know that on nearly every ROM I have tried out, there are issues with the screen wake function, where it sometimes takes two or the presses to wake it up. From what I can tell, this is a problem with AOSP in its entirety.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app

Lockscreen lag: when you lock your phone and try to wake up again (with home or lock button) screen turns on for a millisecond and shut down again so you cannot unlock your phone again and need to restart phone and this is everytime not just from time to time it makes the rom unusable I tried everything full wipe etc
(Hope you understand my English is not the best)

The 5.1.0 version? Did you tried it with either siyah kernel or cm 10.1 kernel?
Is it even built for your device?^^

Version 5.1.0 is notoriously unbootable. You get to a bootloop at the boot animation on all the d2 devices so far. iGio90 is supposed to be releasing a fixed 5.2.0 version on Monday.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app

Ok, so you can look forward to monday. Because this rom is nearly perfect. Just some issues with touchwiz indicator and the lack of multiwindow/ pagebuddy (samsung features that probably won't ever get into aosp/aokp unfortunatly =() - But for me, the best android 4.2.1 rom around.

Hello how do I put the list of activities on the lock screen?
thanks

custom ROM sizes

Hi, i am wondering why custom ROMs found in the android development page such as Omega and Android HD are around ~700mb while CyanogenMod is only 160mb.
Samsung just put aload of useless stuff in there roms and cm10 is the bear minimum. Cm10 is pure Google experience while Samsung use this as a base/foundation and load there own stuff on top

I see that explains why CM seems to be missing all of the google and samsung apps. But i was asking about why customs roms such as Omega and Android HD are a lot bigger than CM, is it because they are just addons to the stock ROM?

I already answered that in the 1st response lol.. Its because samsung have aload of bloatware(e.g apps and stuff) taking up all that memory. The stock rom/custom samsung roms have alot of features that cm10 will never get because its ti much memory and hassle

There's not so much JB 4.2 ROM for the SGTab. I actually run the CM10.1 Nightly Builds and it's a very good rom if you really want to move to 4.2.
There's also the ParanoidAndroid 2.99, I don't test it but if you're curious I advise you to test both by yourself but be careful due to multi-user on JB 4.2 the nandroid backups are now in a different folder. This means that if you make a backup from a previous version of JB 4.2 you can't restore it from JB 4.2. I think you just have move the backup in the general folder instead of the user folder but I haven't tested it.
Look on CM Google+
Hmmm, do you face any issue in CM10.1?
Sent from my GT-P7500 using xda app-developers app
i tried jellybean by toldo, was pretty good.but battery drain for 1% per hour on standby was there which less than stock ICS roms
But toldos Rom is ICS.

The only issue I remember is the sound issue and the nav bar settings FC. When you mute the tab then press volume up it goes at max then if you press volume up again it becomes normal again. Strange issue but not so disturbing. I try not to mute the tablet during a song otherwise when I volume up it becomes MAX
When you open nav bar settings it force close.
I don't remember any other issue. I can browse the web, chat, play, take some pictures, Everything is smooth for now without overclocking.
Try it by yourself, really it's a good ROM
Best rom kernels thread are not permitted.
Try them for your self and decide which one suits your needs best.

[Q] Installing Slim Bean 4.2.1 Stable from CM10.1?

Hello
Sorry if this question is really basic but i need some help.
I recently installed 4.2.2 CM10.1-20130217 nightly and i am getting absolute trash battery. (kernel 3.0.63-g5f9dde0) and i want to switch to slim bean stable 4.2.1...
Questions:
Will i have to flash back to stock?
If so, do i have to flash CM10 or 10.1?
after that do i use the CM10 GApps or Slim bean GApps?
again sorry for the novice questions but i really need some help here ):
thanks in advance!
AW: [Q] Installing Slim Bean 4.2.1 Stable from CM10.1?
No, just flash slim on it. Wipe cache and factory reset. Don't forget to save your apps, sms and so on.

Okay so i've successfully flashed slim bean (thank you to previous 2 posters!) and i believe it has everything that cm has but all the bugs i can find are somewhat fixed. My first impression was 'wow why is everything so small' and this question was a FAQ on slim beans webpage which can be changed. The default launcher used was holo launcher HD which, in my opinion, looks exactly like trebuchet launcher for cm but you can add shortcuts! (yay) and has alot more that trebuchet cant do which i am still discovering. Another thing i like about this is that you can add a brightness slider in the notification drop down (really helpful). However, Slim Bean does have a performance setting but does not allow you to overclock to 1.2 MHz which is fine because it has all the other performance settings included. Slim OTA seems very convenient but i havent had a chance to use it yet.
Overall for me i find the battery life way better with heavy use (cant describe hours yet because i left it there when i was sleeping and havent charged yet) and performance is smoother. This is definitely slim and has many more features i have yet to discover compared to CM. Any questions you can look at videos, pm me, or post here.
EDIT1: GApps seem to only include gmail, play store, google calandar, Holo Launcher HD and possibly SuperSU, because i see it and i cant seem to uninstall it.
ok sir thank you very much! this is fun! im going to flash slim bean now..

done! im booted to slim bean! it faster to flash slim beam compare to cm10.1 and faster boot also.. time to restore my apps.. is it safe to restore data as well on titanium back up if im from another rom?
im editing
after 1hr.. well my phone forecloses the settings and youtube.. and i dont experience it on cm10.1.. om going to flash it again.. also gps is not functioning, if you toggle it off the SU ask you non stop! but on cm10.1 it function flawlessly..

Slim has semaphore kernel. You can update it separately, flashing in recovery mode.. Use semaphore manager from play store to tweak and tune..

Stock applications on CM 10.1

Hello, dear XDA community!
I am using Samsung Galaxy Note 2 for almost 1 month and beginning from day 1 I realised that Samsung did something wrong with android and spoilt everything with their TouchWiz UI. I tried a lot of different ROMs and found that the best one for me is CyanogenMod 10.1. Everything is cool about this ROM, but I miss some features from the stock ROM.
The features that I miss are:
* S Note
* Samsung Keyboard
* Samsung Camera
I tried extracting these apps from deodexed ROM (I used Omega ROM + correct permissions), but for some reason they refuse to work...
Can someone tell me how to add these apps to my beloved CyanogenMod ROM?
I will appreciate all links, guides and suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
They will not work cm lackes tw framework they rely on

This pretty self explanatory. I wanted with the community if they didnt already know. All the devs that get busy with custom stock ROMs I'm pretty sure folks will be knocking down your imaginary doors. This is great news though.
