Hi guys!
I have android 4.1.1 and the file system is such that there's no link to external SD card from internal SD. Before there was external_sd folder link, now it's not there anymore. Currently my internal memory is located at /storage/sdcard0 and my external card at /storage/extSdCard. The question is: how do I a create a link within /storage/sdcard0 to point to my external card?
What I tried to do. I created a folder /storage/sdcard0/LinkToExternalSD. Then I downloaded Android Terminal Emulator and tried the following command:
mount -o bind /storage/extSdCard /storage/sdcard0/LinkToExternalSD
Unfortunately, it said Operation not permitted. I also cannot do a link with Root Explorer. Root is installed. Busybox is installed. File system on external SD card is exFAT.
Could you please help me with this? It there an easy way to do it? Maybe in some file manager other than Root Explorer?
Thank you!

Hey guys!
I've searched through the forum, and Google, but I've not found anything of help
Is there any setting, any hack or customization of any kind, to make Winamp store the WiFi sync songs to a custom folder? It's putting them on the phone right now, but I'd like them on the External SD card.
Thanks for your help!
+1 on this.
Wifi Sync only syncs data to /sdcard/music folder no matter what we do...
In Samsung Galaxy SL (I9003), /sdcard is internal sdcard and /sd (~/external_sd) is external sd.
I tried to create a symlink to ~/external_sd/Music in /sdcard/music using terminal emulator so that /sdcard/music points to ~/external_sd/Music (or /sd/Music)
But it says operation not permitted.
After a bit of research, it was clear why it was not allowing.
Our external sd card is fat32 filesystem and its not possible to create symlinks on that filesystem.
I was thinking why do we need external sd to be fat32, wasnt it just fine to use ext3 or some other linux friendly file system?
And maybe change fstab to mount it as ext3. smthing like that?
Just checking possiblity.
Hello,
On the Galaxy S III, /sdcard is the internal storage, and the microSD card is located in /mnt/extSdCard.
I want the SD card to be mounted in /sdcard and the internal storage in /intmemory for example. Is it possible ?

I believe this can be done by using custom ROM
It can be done only if rooted but the issue with permission. You wont be able to give (execute read write ) permission to ext sd card.
So nobody's working on it ?
Hello i got my sgs3 today,i have inserted a 32gb sd card, but cant find a folder link to my ext card on es fileexploer
i rebember on my sgs2 i had a folder called extsdcard or something to acces my sd card??
can anybody tell me where it is? or how to do?
regards
It's mnt/extSdCard
make sure you are in the main directory, under /mnt should be 2 files: "extSdCard" (external card -your 32gb card) and "sdcard" (internal card)
can also try just "MyFiles" if FileExplorer is giving you issues, that's what I use when not using Astro

thanks i found it,but it dident show mnt without showing hidden files,im using a app called websharing who i like very much,
but on that app it does not show mnt folder just internal card,i dident have any problems on my sgs 2 with that, because it was a folder in internal card linking to my sdcard.. is it a way to make a folder linked to sd card on internal memory??
thanks for all help
Yes.
First create a folder on your internal sd (/mnt/sdcard) called external_sd (you can name it whatever you want but for compatibility reasons you should choose this)
Then use the following tool to bind-mount /mnt/extSdCard/ to /mnt/sdcard/external_sd

You can just press the Favorite button on the es file explorer. Your external SD card should be shown there as /mnt/extSdCard/
Hi,
I'm currently using JellyBam rom.
The problem is that when I'm using whatsapp, I can't download images, or create backups.
I think the problem is that the rom created a separate folder for the SD card, instead of mounting it in my internal memory.
How can I mount my external SD to my internal?
Or are there other fixes for my problem?
First of all, you don't need two threads for this, i recon an admin will remove it soon. Please only create ONE thread.
Om Jelly Bean, samsung made a seperate folder for your external sd files (providing that you have one) in mnt section. In you file explorer go to mnt folder there you will see an ExtSdCard folder. There you have all your external sd files.
You say you have problems with WhatsApp saving it on the external sd? If this is the case then just set the defaulr storage place to internal sd card?
Also before JB the external sd wasn't "mounted" in internal. The file was just located inside the sdcard folder. Now sdcard folder is sdcard0 and external sd is ExtSdCard as mantioned above
If you found an answer, dont forget to thanks
Or any further questions, just reply.

Thank you the quick reply.
How can I change it? Because it is very annoying!
I didn't know I created two threads.
Samsung Galaxy S Duos 7562 has its internal storage sdcard0 shared with data partition. As the sdcard0 fills up the space to install apps reduces causing insufficient space to install error. If I delete files from sdcard0, I can install apps. Whatsapp by default saves its media files on internal storage even if there is an external SDcard.
My question how do I create or link the whatsapp folder from sdcard0 to ext_sdcard. Tried formatting ext_sdcard to ext2 and ext4 filesystem. But SD card was not recognized. Can this be achieved without rooting the phone?
Or root it once than unroot it back?
Person using is not tech savvy so possibility of creating problem or misusing root access.
You have to partition SD card then root your device and finally install link2sd and link it
not apps but folder
