SetCPU - AT&T LG Optimus G

Wondering if anyone has tried this on OG? My battery life is usually good, but lately I have been getting some serious overnight drain. I run battery widget reborn and let it put my phone in airplane mode and silent during my sleep time. Usually battery drain is very minimal, but recently I will sometimes lose as much as 20 percent.
I'm going to load setCPU and will report back.

I do, but the CPU in the LGOG will underclock itself. Cpuspy and antutu benchmark showed me that, and setcpu won't force it higher.

I underclock it to 1026Mhz and seem to get better battery life. I also have profiles in SetCPU to set the CPU frequency and governor when I'm at a certain battery percentage.

Use system tuner. Setcpu is always a little buggy. With me it would force all the cpu cores on.

cpu governor

Why there is not dev try to plug different governor for user?

I may have this wrong but I have read in earlier posts that the power managment on the tegra 2 is only set to work with the perfomace governor. It was tried with the power save governor but that had no effect and was actually more power hungry. I will try to find those refrences when I finish work.

thx!
Tegra 2 has a built in hardware governor which is pretty good so there is no need to install software governors, in fact, installing a governor other than performance will impede performance and/or battery life by interfering with the on chip governor.
I believe the Tegra 2 drivers control the CPU speed. It overrides the governor. Performance and powersave are the simplest governors.

In was just looking into this. I'm on neutrino, and no matter what kernel I seem to have, my CPU is locked to the max frequency. My battery life has been brutal and the phone gets too hot even after sending an email!
What is wrong?
Sorry for the ETA, and but I should be more clear..
When I open setcpu or antutu cpu master, and both report the highest selected cpu frequency constantly no matter what the conditions are.
Is the fact that I'm running a java application to control max frequency interfering with tegra 2's governor? Although I've see screen shots of atrix users in setcpu with the freq being not-the-max-freq.
Thanks for any help!
Note: I only ever have one over clock app installed at a time.

Nevermind. Just installed milestone 6 and it's working fine.

Whats the Min and Max of your CPU?

I never thought about overclocking or underclocking my phone under recently. I just got tired of the lag when I tried to turn it on from its deep sleep. I fixed that issue as the Min was 100 MHz and I just changed it to 200 MHz. Right now I have 1200 MHz, but has anyone every tried upping it up for a better experience? What Min Max / Voltage should I have to get a real smooth experience? I'm running ICZ.
When I run JB/ICS, I set it to 200 min and 1000 max with Live OC of 5-10%
Undervolting:
100 - 800
200 - 800
400 - 1025
Can't remember the rest, doing it by memory as I have Froyo at the moment.
Good battery life, smooth phone, what more can I ask for?
Lol actually i have set Max freq at 1000 mhz and also undervolted by -50 mV for each step.Buttery smooth for me
JUST HIT THE BIG THANKS BUTTON...
Sent from my beautiful phone powered by the best OS ever
In JB I limited my frequency to 100-800 MHz and live OC is 100%. My phone is so smooth and long battery life (I think battery life depends on KA6 modem also)

How can you have a proper running OS with such low clock speeds? I pull it down to 100 MHz and there's a short lag when I turn it on from deep idle. On top of that, I need some sort of clock speed in case I multi-task or play games.

Well its off by default unless you turned it on in one of the devil kernel apps.
sent from the depths of helly bean
Try latest version of SlimBean. Or try the Semaphore kernel, with its included app you can make some performance tweaks as well.
the 0921 Helly Bean is eating up juice quicker than my previous so I'm going to try the 200-800. We shall see if my batt stats get better.
I ran my cpu at 1.55ghz stable back in the day... ive been running it 1.2ghz since then

How long your battery can last after overclock?

i overclock my phone to 1600 - 200 and i dont know what was happening because i sleep at 4am and wake up at 12pm boom! my battery becomes 30%
can someone help me with the exact ratio of your undervolt? and i will make it to my phone because i dont know how to apply undervolting in my galaxy s3 Help!!!

I underboltedbusing stweaks and uv -50 on all frequencies and tested yesterday and got 22hrs and battery was still 24% and was squire heavy use
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
hey man can you teach me how to undervolt ? because my battery drains fast
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
All I did was use stweaks (I have Siyah kernel) and in Undervolt section just set to -50. Job done.
Tried -25 first and hat was fine so tried -50, then -75 but that was unstable so went back to -50.
Then ran stability test for 10 mins which it passed so kept setting and used better battery stats to track battery usage

Gov's. what do u prefer?

Alright what governor r u guys using? I'm using smartass2 and although I het excellent batt life when screen is off, it is a bit choppy and not as smooth as I would like.and it drains fairly fast when screen is on or plating angry birds for like 5 mins. I'm looking for something that's a good balance between smoothness and most importantly battery.
any ideas?
Try intellidemand. I have had good luck with it

just switched to it.... whats ur battery and screen time?
Ive been using intellidemand.. works great when I want it to work like ondemand.. but scales up slower when I need it to I.e. text, email.. but playing games and surfing web it scales up faster like on-demand..

have you set any special permaiters or anything? whats ur batt stats?
I use Wheatley. I usually get about 2h 15m to 2h 30m of screen time with the stock battery. No special tweaking to the parameters or anything either, just set it and you're good to go.

ive used lionheart, and it drained the batter SO fast. ima give wheatly a try on monday and intidemand tomorrow. compare the 2 results i guess lol
Battery stats on intellidemand are ok.. I'm a heavy user tho I use another OEM battery and an external charger and switch out thru the day.. I get about 1.5-2.0 hrs of screen time in about a 9-12hr period depending on what I'm doing.. sometimes I'll wake up and drain it dead in an hour and a half (dl, surfing, forums, texts few calls) I'm undervolted -50mv across the board. And set at 1.56ghz on viperrez using dsbs kernel..

flash a kernel that has them. DSB is the one that i know of that has a lot of them.
now what govoner takes FULL advantage of both cores and focus sololy on preformace one that i can use for hardcore gaming

no. preformace hasent turned on the 2nd core for me, also since it runs at max frequency all the time, and dosent scale down, unnessarly heat and ussage from the cpu builds up and cooks it. should only be uses for benchmarking IMO
Next noobish question. It's easy to find it in AOSP, but I can't find the governors in Sense ROMs. I'm currently using ViperRez.
Smartassv2 on ziggy kernel. Went about 15+ hrs with 2+ screen on hrs OC'd @ 1.8. I also tethered ALOT during the screen off period and ran multiple benchmarks. Stock battery

If you're using DSB's kernel (I am), his latest has pegasusq governor on it. It seems to turn on the 2nd core more often. I use system tuner pro and CPU Usage Monitor. CPU usage monitor allows you to put icons on the notification bar showing CPU speed AND cpu utilization for both cores. So you can see whats going on. Also system tuner allows you to 'force' the second core on. You can do this with Ondemand with good results. IMO

it hasent work with me.... every time i force all cores online, the 2nd one still just shuts off auto mtcicallly. i just gavce up on that, but yea im thinking pegasusq will be best shot. or interactice for both gaming.

[Q] Auto-governor switching app?

Is there an app that will auto-switch your governor/min-max freq, say when the battery drops below a certain level or when you are plugged into power?

Yes there is! I would recommend taking a look at the app SetCPU https://play.google.com/store/apps/...rce=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_term=setcpu. I have used SetCPU since my Droid 1 was my main phone to do exactly what your looking for (I.E screen of minimum frequency, charging set a particular governor, less then 20% battery powersave governor, etc.). Let me know if you still have questions.

Most excellent! I'll take a peek.
EDIT: Well that is just the bee's knees! Great app! I also found SetXperia which does a few of the same things (not nearly as much) but also allows me to undervolt. The two in combo look ideal. Thanks again!
