Is it possible to hack a phone just by hooking up a phone to a usb port and the person doing the hacking never touching the computer (maybe automated)?
I know this is an off the wall question but a friend of mine said she hooked up her phone to one of her friends usb port and he hacked the phone and got all of her information including deleted files. She says he never touched the computer or got near her phone. She is not rooted and is using an S3.

Wouldn't USB debugging have to be enabled on her device?

How does she know that her information was stolen? Did the thief show her?

Hey everyone,
I have been having troubles connecting my phone to my computer through USB. I used to have to push the micro USB cord to the side for the computer to recognize it. Now my computer will not recognize my phone at all, but charging through the USB connection works fine. Is there anything that I can try to get my computer to recognize my phone? (I have the drivers and have connected it to the computer successfully in the past) and if there is no fix, then will warenty cover it? I have had this since late October. I am running galnet miui if that helps.
Thanks,

My suggestion is to try another cable. USB cables can be real finicky. Or try a different USB port on the computer.

Try reinstalling the drivers..

I did not replace anything - I just cleaned the port and all was good again.
Oddly enough - today it started acting up again. Going to try cleaning it again, if that does not work its time to get it exchanged under warranty.
Hey guys, quick question. I got a new laptop today and when i plug in the usb cable it doesnt see the phone. What can i do? I'm not a very computer savvy person! Thanks in advance!:good:

Mac or PC? That would help out a bit. What have you done? That would also help.

It's a PC, Windows 7. I dl'd htc sync and googled htc drivers then dl'd that. When i plug in a usb cable then go to my computer it doesnt show anything. HTC sync also says no device found.
My experience with HTC sync is.....it sucks. But you don't see any extra storage in computer section? don't get a prompt on your phone to activate disc storage either?

Is there a recovery already on your device? If there is and you have an sdcard try moving the root files to that card with a friends phone or something. If there isn't then you might be out of luck. Keep searching I'm sure there's something you can do.

I was hoping you had a custom recovery from before the usb got messed up. I'm out of ideas just keep looking and if I come across anything I'll let you know.

So my friends HTC Evo LTE won't turn on since last night. It was quite random he just reached for it and saw it wasn't booting. Hard reset and none of that stuff works and it is only recognized when it is connected to his PC but the drivers show up as something weird like QHLOD or something similar. So what do you guys think his options are. Should he go directly to Sprint and try for a replacement even though he doesn't have TEP?
Thanks

Friend of mine dropped her AT&T S3 phone and cracked her screen. I have not seen the phone yet, best I can tell she took it to best buy and they said the screen is cracked and the digitizer is broke. She of course has a pin code and is unable to unlock it, I thought when a phone was locked you also couldn't access it from a PC. Her phone is not rooted, is there any way to recover her contacts, text messages, and possibly any pictures?
THanks!

she's got a Google account, but since not everything is on her replacement phone I'm betting it's not sync. I was thinking maybe Android lost, installing from Google play Web and seeing what I could do.
