Hello guys, I have Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300. I would like to know what is diffrence between different ROMs for S3, there are few types (rom types: I9300XXELLC, I9300XXELLA, I9300XXELL5, I9300XXELK4) and I dont know what is what. Can any one explain which is which and what are differences? I would also like to know what is kernel for??
here is link to post where are different ROM, and I dont know which one to chouse.

They are all version codes of Samsung official ROMs.
XXELLC being one of the newest of them all.
Newest usually means that highest changelist number so the build with the most fixes.
Edit:
Nobody knows the exact changelists, only Samsung.

And what about diffrent kernels???
You want to know what a kernel is?
So you've searched and didn't find an answer? No way
If you're too lazy to search and read by yourself ..
Do your schoolwork first and use Google search feature, a great one... All is written somewhere, just up to you to find it.
Wikipedia also a good place.

I have a few questions sorry if its a repost but id rather make sure I get a good answer to those questions then any other variant of them.
I got a galaxy s2 a week ago and I feel like the battery life is really bad and the phone heats alot sometimes.... (BTW this is my first smartphone EVER) I was wondering which one of all these custom ROMs out there is the best for the galaxy s2? Which one will give me the smoothest experience with a good battery life and fix that heating problem?
Also, I have the Canadian bell's version so MUGKG2... When I look at ROMs all I see is XXKH3 or XXKE7, etc... Basically how and what version do I have to use/install to get a custom ROM? (P.S I know how Odin works and I know how to root since my phone is already rooted)
And what is the latest Android version possible to get on the galaxy s2? I heard something about 4.0 but I think the latest version possible to install is the 2.3.4 am I right? Also, every ROM is 2.3.4 right? Or do I have to flash a 2.3.4 (or 4.0 depending on the latest version) kernel on the phone?
Thanks for your time and have a good day!!!!!!!

hey ppl.. new to the s3 i9300 uk
ok so im rooted etc.. played with a few roms... and found this.
http://www.trickytweaks.com/update-...-jelly-bean-xxdlib-custom-insertcoin-rom.html
so it says in there i must have xxdlib 4.1.1 to install.. so then i found this.
http://www.trickytweaks.com/update-...-jelly-bean-xxdlib-custom-insertcoin-rom.html
its just worried me that at the end of the article it mentions only for nexus models... what does that mean?...
i thought a nexus was a nexus and s3 i9300 was (you get what im sayin) lol
also im just looking for roms that are jelly bean with google and motion..
are there any...
I think the "only for Nexus" thing might be a mistake, the author might have copied that from some other page he made about a Nexus and forgot to change Nexus to i9300... But am not sure about that.
The main thing is first you need to be sure your phone is an i9300 and no kind of variant. Check that by going to settings and then to about device.
EDIT: Is it a T-Mobile SGS III you have? I think that particular phone has its own forums, as they are different from i9300 somehow.
If it is an i9300 you are holding, the ROMs in the Development section of these i9300 forums are all OK for you to try, including the InsertCoin that you will find there. If you flash i9300 ROMs on something other than an i9300, you are in big trouble.
I also think it's a good idea in general to download ROMs via their respective XDA threads and not via random articles on other webpages.

In the ROM description threads you can usually find info about what's included in the ROM. Not sure what you mean by "with google", but the motion thing is in many ROMs, including the JB CheckRom 5.5 that I'm using myself. I just turn all motion off because I hate it, but I know it is in the ROM for sure.

I have been keeping a eye out for 4.2 roms for my international S3, and was curious as to why there still did not seem to be any. Upon researching I read the international version is missing some crucial components in software that make it incompatible with 4.2.
Is this the case?
Good news for you - there is a bunch of 4.2 ROMs for the i9300.
Bad news - you are really bad at searching
First there are a few 4.2 ROMs, look at supernexus 2.0, slimbean and CM 10.1 at least.
Also if we are missing software components they can always be updated.

u can use CyanogenMod 10.1. Ur device not on their website list, but u can download it at CM download page.
get.cm/?device=i9300
4.2 Rom is still nightlybuild. If interested in every build changelog, u can look here
changelog.bbqdroid.org/#i9300/cm10.1/next
Cant post outsite link. Need to copy and paste it. Sorry. New user account

100% correct as you are never going to be able to find the 4.2 rom .

Hi, so I am new to the whole android thing and my partner has a new phone so I thought, why not learn something about it and try to upgrade her old one since it's impossible to do normally, let me explain.
So the version in question is GT-I9300 JZO54K.I9300XXELLA and after researching it seems as if the highest version possible is already on the phone, 4.1.2, yet I know a few people that also has a galaxy S3 but they are able to upgrade on a regular basis.
So I want to know can this phone be upgraded in any way? Also how do I know what version I can use? there are so many different versions for each phone
Thanks

There are custom and stock versions of Android 4.3 as well as custom 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 roms. I suggest reading up here:

So let me get this straight, providing the ROM is for a Sumsung S3 GT-I9300 I can put in on my rooted S3 device?
Does the Baseband, Kernel Version or Build number have anything to do with what ROM's I can use?

Yes, if the rom is made for your phone, then it shouldn't be too big of an issue to install. The versions are important insofar as it's not recommended to downgrade, due to the Knox and bootloader "updates" from Samsung. As far as the modem, just make sure it's for the same update (4.4 modems for 4.4 roms, etc) unless the developer of the rom you are looking at suggests another. If they don't mention it specifically in their install directions then it's best to have the one matched to the region you are in for the international Galaxies like the S3.
Hello everyone.
I have an international version of S3 (I9300) and it works pretty well (the only thing that annoys me is that sometimes when i swipe left or right, the background of pages when on middle is some random, usually non-transparent image, but i just reboot it and it's fine), but i really like android kitkat and would like to install it on my I9300. I searched through various web sites and videos (also here on some threads) and i saw a lot of ROMs for "S3 kitkat" and i can't decide on my own which one is the best. If anyone could help me choose the best S3 kitkat ROM i would be veryveryvery thankful!
PS the first one i saw is cyanogen mod and i think that that one is probably the one i should install, but it's just an idea (aaand when i say the best ROM, i mean the one that could give me the most and the best of my I9300 (pretty obvious i think, but oh well...)) also i saw on sammobile.com an article about South Korean version S3 getting kitkat and when i saw one of comments it gave me some hope for not needing any custom ROM (i would probably be the happiest person if they would relase an official kitkat for I9300 or if it would be possible to take kitkat for some other S3 versions and install on I9300) and the comments go like this:

Installing it will brick your device. Hopefully someone will make a port out of it.

(i'm not that much into ROM stuff and had never installed any custom ROMs, just rooted, unrooted and did binary counter reset once, so please forgive me if i said something stupid or nonesense)
It's no nonsense, but a version of 'what's the best rom', which is against the rules (avoiding endless threads about personal preferences).
Choose the roms with the most and actual posts here, read them and decide. All of them, AOSP- or TW-based, will have some minor bugs. Test it and enjoy.
