Already I have gone through 3 car chargers for my note 2 cheap ones and a Samsung charger none work well charging. The best one was the OEM Samsung but there must be a broken wire in there cause it charges then stops i move the cord and it works again. So I am looking for another car charger that actually charges and wont break in a month. Please post your opinions and links to the charger you refer (with best price of course ).
Here's what I use. About the best for any normal use. Had it since launch and so far so good.

Anyone get "MTP initialization" when using the moto rapid charger? How do you get rid of it?

Thanks
Just ordered the car charger off Amazon for $7.00 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DCCCTW/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 will try it out. I'm still interested if anyone recomends any other car chargers.

Open up the charger and solder the middle 2 pins together. Or short the data cable.

Rather just buy a charger that doesn't require Modding.

I've never had that happen with the Moto rapid charger.

I could have sworn it didn't happen at first. But now everytime it does that. And it charges so slow that its not even worth being charged. I've tried both ports in my car as well.

I've found that stock micro usb cable or any other micro cable combined with 2.1Amp(ipad) car charger worked best (faster/rapid charge)

I would recommend this charger definitely. Charges 2 smartphones, 1 iPad plus my note, or just my note.

This really is the best option (but I WOULD NOT SHORT THE CABLE). I downloaded an app that measures incoming amps and tried several car chargers. Most of them only output .5 amps. You are better off buying a car charger for the iPad (2.1 amps) or modding a normal charger as suggested and using any data cable.
I use a modded Power-Bolt charger with a retractable USB cable. This combination takes up the least amount of space and rapid charges my phone even if I'm using Google Navigation at the same time.
The Note comes with a normal USB cable and a shorted wall charger. The Note knows to rapid charge when it senses the short.
Rather than butchering either of my Kensington PowerBolts ......yet I chose to use Current Widget to measure output of basic Samsung microUsb car charger. Depending on battery level it registered over .9A at times yet on 2 hour ride last week w/ Google Maps it wasn't enough. I use ProClip device mounts, but for the hell of it bought Samsung's car mount today to see output of its included charger. Top measurement on 80%+ battery was 1.092A ?????? I'll let battery drain down and report back....

I actually just use a cigararette lighter/USB converter and use a USB/micro USB cable and it charges just fine.

If you do decide to butcher your PowerBolt, you won't be dissappointed. I'm getting over 1 amp now regardless of battery life or Navigation. It's a bit tricky with the PowerBolt Duo, but you cannot tell it's been modded.
You have to peel off the top sticker, then unscrew the top. I did not have a torx driver that was small enough, so I just drilled out the torx screws. Then you remove the top, disassemble the charger, and solder the two inner USB leads on the 1 amp side only. Reassemble the charger, add a drop of glue to attach the top, and put the sticker back on. Now I can charge my iPad3 and my Galaxy Note at the same time, while they're running.
I own both the single 2.1A port and the Duo 3.1A. What are you getting out of 2.1 ports? I don't remember getting over .992A with it. Am I wrong to expect closer to 2.1A?
I didn't look under decal yet, but own mini torx set.
Even though I own ProClip mount I bought Samsung Car Dock on sale at CompUsa to see what charging output the included charger produced and Current Widget measured 1.059A while battery was at 73%. It's the first time I remember getting over 1.0A
I'm switching from iPhone to the note 3. As a result, I will need to replace all of my chargers. I would like to order about 6 chargers and I want them to be a little longer than normal because I would constantly get fed up with the short apple cable. The new chargers should be the correct voltages for the Note. I would prefer the cable to be detachable from the power supply. Is there a goto charger that you guys use? Thanks!
Gotta see what voltage the note3 will carry. Also do you want all the cables to be the Micro USB 3.0 or 2.0?

Well from what I've read, USB 2.0 will charge just as fast from a wall outlet. I will just use the one USB 3.0 that comes with phone for my computer. So I will primarily be using these from a wall charger so I'll go with whichever one is cheaper.
You can also just goto Amazon.com and look for microUSB 3.0 cables and find plenty of them since its an industry standard and you don't have to pay $29 for a cable like apple rips their isheep off with.

Just a tip-- When I had my Note 2, I purchased extra USB cords from E-Bay. It might not hurt to check Samsung's website and look at the product name/ID for their OEM items, and then just get a few of those off E-Bay or Amazon. the native Samsung A/C Adapter with the powerful amps makes a huge difference too. and you can almost always get it for under $10.

I'm not 100% on this but from what I have gathered it has the wireless charging pins but you would have to buy the Samsung wireless charging back plate for it similar to the S4.

Not sure where your from...but if you have a 5 below store you can buy chargers, cables, cases for your note for $5 or less....I bought them for the note 2 and all worked without issue...
Theres no point for usb 3 cables, they only add data pins. BUT if you plug into a real usb 3 port/computer, the phone MAY tell it to send higher wattage.

I am in the same predicament, I just want a 3m or 5m cable because the stock cable is too short for my liking, but the data socket on the note 3 is different then the other Samsung products, im guessing that this is a result of the usb3, but so far I haven't found anything on amazon or eBay that has the new socket only the old micro usb plugs which is know good to me,
And help would be great, I'm from the UK so shipping must include that.
Cheers guys

Here's one from Amazon US that is 9 feet, http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-USB-Cable-Micro-Meters/dp/B00B7WGH48/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1381072931&sr=8-4&keywords=USB+3.0+Cable
Also, you can use your micro usb chargers, just plug it into the bigger side of the usb 3 socket. It won't be long before we all have a bunch of usb 3 cables lying around though, as more hard drives and stuff come with them.
Oh wow so that's why the new port looks that way, backwards compatibility!! Nice oh problem solved, I still need a longer cable as my usb3 socket is a bit awkward to get to on my PC, so I wil look at the suggested weblink and see what happens,
Thanks dudes

anyone know if this is like the note 1, where you use a non-samsung cable, the charging voltage was reduced? there was some command to run in a terminal window that showed charge current. i don't recall.
i don't know if that's what did it, but at some point my note1's battery got ruined..where i couldn't get more than 10 minutes off the charger without a forced reboot. and all sorts of weirdness.

I've used non OEM cables and wall plugs, and it charges the same.
USB 2.0, USB 3.0 doesn't make a difference. OEM, non OEM doesn't make a difference.
OEM puts out at least 2 amps. Alot of other chargers put out much less so it will take longer to charge.

I bought an Xtreme 2.1 amp car charger but I noticed once charged my note 3 gets hot (110 F when I unplugged it).
Would using the oem cable be likely to help? The Motorola USB to micro plug cable I used did not cause overheating on an ac plug.
Can you suggest a car charger that works well without causing the phone to get hot?

Two independent ports one 1A and other 2.1A

So it is not a crap at the moment. But it can vary batch to batch on DX as always.
You seem to know a lot about electronics. Does the cable I use matter or is the charger primarily responsible for overheating?

1- if charger has low efficiency the loosed energy will turn to heat on charger. Generally efficiency is near 80% and it translate to near 2~3watt energy loose on full power. It will heat this little chargers very fast.
2- if the cable is too thin or connectors oxided, power loose on cable will heat cable, charger also phone. If the problem is cable charge time will decrease when cable heated. So if your charge time is ok, problem is dc-dc convertion efficiency.
You mention low efficiency getting charger hot. It wasn't., nor was the cable. Only the phone was hot.

chargers output voltage and ripple must be measured.
Voltage higher than 5.5V or voltage ripple can cause this. Charger voltage can ripple from 4V to 6V and you can only measure 5V avarage voltage with standart multimeters. Be carefull and do not use that charger.
Im using this one from Verizon. It works very well and has a handy led light

delayed response. the good cable i mentioned would be any charging specific cable where the data pins are shorted to force most phones into ac charging, or any cable with a decent gauge wire in it. i ran into a problem with some really cheap cables that were overheating at the pins due to bad solder joints. The phone showed it was charging but the battery would drop unless the screen was off. It took nearly two days to charge with that cable. The cable didnt feel warm at all, but it had too much resistance to carry the current for the phone.

I got one from eBay a couple days ago. I would not recommend because it will affect charging speed. It slows down charging output to about 800 mAh while screen is on. Using the OEM cable, it is about 1200 mAh and screen off is 1800 mAh. The charging speed depends on the wall charger and the cable. Maybe it was just the cable I got from a certain manufacturer but I would stick to OEM cables.
Oem authentic Samsung cable is the best choice
I've found that the cables I got with my Western Digital My Elements 2TB USB3.0 drive work perfectly fine as well. As do the more expensive USB3 cables. They allow the same charging levels as the OEM cables.
