I hope I have this in the right section, if Im wrong please forgive me. So I did something really stupid thinking I could get around compatibility issues, and now I am asking myself "why did you do that? You know better."
Anyways, heres the scoop: I bought an android tv box running 4.0 ICS theres no model number on the box, but Im sure people smarter than I know what Im talking about. Anyways, I gave the unit to a friend of mine and he made a complaint, so I switched him for a spare roku I had. When I had the box, I did the first stupid thing- I was trying to take out the sd card and thought that if I press it in, it will pop out. Which it didnt and instead shoved the sd card into the casing and caused the solder holding the metal shell (that holds sd card in place) to break. No big deal, I just used my friends soldering iron and reattached it. Then I got home and wanted to mess with it. But I have an analog tv and this unit only has hdmi output, although it has one port for av and one for y/pb/pr (it looks like earphone jacks). So in my extremely keen insight and extensive expertise, I plugged the hdmi cable into the unit (without power cable attached) and plugged it into the hdmi port on my roku. On the system the light went blue (which indicates its on) and stayed like that, I looked in the settings thinking maybe it "picked it up". Anyways, the roku reset itself and the android box blue light was blinking- so I thought "HMM I should probably unhook that" so I did and called it a night. Next day I went to see a friend of mine and plugged in into his lcd tv, tried to turn it on, and it wont. When I plug in the power adapt. it shows the red light that there is power, but when pressing the on button the color doesnt change (to show its on) and same when trying to turn it on with remote. I looked over the MOBO but no signs of anything exploded or burnt. I made a bootable usb with android 4.0 firmware and an sd, but nothing.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Theres no warranty, I bought it from craigslist and if worst comes to worst Ill put it on a chain and call it nerd bling. Im open to other suggestions as well, and help related to the issue with possible solutions.

hey everyone. ive been playing with webtop and i noticed that if my hdmi cord comes out of the phone. even the slightest bit. the screen cuts out and i have to press it back it. like. this is such a slight amount a small bump could trigger it. is anyone else having this issue? (also. i cant figure out if its the cable or the phone... )
That's odd for sure. My cable holds very firmly in place. My phone even slid off my tv stand one day and hung by the cable and everything still functioned. I would think its the casing on the Atrix might not be right or the cable might not be reaching all the way in ie cable was manufactured too short on the plug end. If you have a friend with an Atrix try out their cable if not call moto they might send a replacement but that idk never heard of anyone calling about that.
But thats just my 2 cents

I might be buying an AT&T GSII from a guy on Craigslist tomorrow, and I need to hear the list of the hardware issues I could come across. I want to make sure the device works 100% before I buy it. What are the common hardware problems you've heard about/experienced with this phone? I'm looking for any problems, big and small.
Seems bad usb ports are on the rise. If the phone says it's charging or in usb mode when the cord is not plugged in, that's not good. The usb cord doesn't fit very tight, so don't let that make you think it's the sign of a bad usb port.
At least for now it 'seems' to be the case, that it's the usb port that is the faulty part.
Make sure gps can connect as well as wifi (and wifi stays connected)
That's the only main ones that comes to my mind. There may be other issues but most are very minor and doesn't effect the phone (raised corner of the glass, noisy case/volume buttons)
Just use every function on the phone to make sure it works. Phone calls work through the ear speaker and the back speaker.
Check to make sure the digitizer works 100%. Easiest way to do that is dial *#1*#. It will bring up the service test screen. There will be a number of useful tests that you can run.
If possible check to see if the flash counter has been tripped. Hopefully if it has been they'll just tell you. If they say no or I don't know and you want to make sure, boot it into download mode using a usb cable plugged into a computer (I think you do it with the phone off, battery out, and plugged into the usb port. While holding both volume keys insert the battery. If I'm wrong, please anyone correct me) When in download mode, where it says custom binary, it ideally will say No.
Not a big deal as a usb jig will reset that. But it will let you know that the person has at least rooted it. There may be a reason they're trying to get rid of it. If they are hiding anything it might be enough to get them to talk about why. Or at the very least let you negotiate a discount.

Around the beginning of October, there were quite a few people who posted with screen problems, where the screen color was uneven, or patchy, or banded, or something like that. There was even a post here that had a method of checking it, a black screen you could look at in a darkened room to see the faults if they exist. It should be somewhere in the general forum.
Since the first few weeks, I havn't seen very many posts about it though.
Somehow the micro usb port on the phone (the charger) has been mashed up inside, i think it may have been due to someone trying to fit the wrong charger into it.
a shop said it'd have to get sent away,
i was wondering if their is a place to send it to get fixed or it it fixable ?
atm im having to charge another battery with a docking station and swap battery's because it wont charge,
it did work a little earlier on today, charging. but i can see the insides are pretty well destroyed.
it looks like the piece can be removed and a new one soldered on,
any ideas ?
thanks.
Honestly, if somone on here knows how to fix hardware issues I am sure they can lend you a hand but otherwise you will have to go to a repair shop and have it serviced. Just make sure that everything is complete stock and bootloader is in locked state just to be safe. If you don't want to send it back through the mail you can always take to a sprint authorized repair shop.
If you want to attempt it yourself here you go

Thanks guys, ive been looking online and some places seem to say they can fix it,
that video is just jokes, he faffs around with the thing im sure he ha no idea what hes doing.
ive found usb ports for other htc models just not the evo 3d.
ive realised it is quite a common problem
its charging via my docking station... just. obviously the internals of the micro usb are mashed up, and i know the replacement needs to be soldered on,
ive looked on some websites but cannot find anywhere to fix it.
its ok atm as its charging via dock, and i have a spare battery, also i can just take out my sd card to add stuff but it i rather annoying abd id like it fixed asap.
You could always use WiFi file explorer,of course WiFi is required but you can read and write the sdcard from your ip address,
Signature (Don't ask me for help, couldn't careless if your phone explodes)
strange thing is its connecting via my dock.. and charging, eventho the insides of the micro usb are mashed up..
it wont work with any other cable just in the dock...
im guessing the dock pin is slightly larger thus allowing a connection ?
So I fell on the ground with the phone hanging on a neckband around my neck at the time of the fall; screen is busted... Let me remind you phone was NOT rooted yet (I bought it the night before, didn't get to it YET), with a trick found on YouTUBE connecting an OTG USB adapter to the phone and connecting any USB mouse to this OTG adapter, then this broken screen will have a little cursor/arrow light up;
Obviously, after that you can do whatever with a cursor coming up on this broken screen and with normal clicks you are all set...
But now is another problem......
In order for me to be able to take a full backup of that broken LG and to be able to load it on to this one, I would need to have the phone ALSO plugged in with my PC at one point of time.... now here is a dilemma... mouse is already there.
And I’m %100 sure that there has to be a workaround for this situation. Maybe there is an app in store that can do this for you? I can’t be the first to bust my screen, right?
Can't find a link for my G3, but this very simular. http://podfob.com/products/samsung-galaxy-s6-podfob
Thanx folks
P.S. Later tonight I'll be getting my new LG replacment phone. So please, give me your advice??
Hi
we just wanted to make an old tv without hdmi netflix ready so to say and ordered an android box.
google detects the firmware/device as lava x3, no idea if that matters.
box:
https://www.amazon.de/Globmall-TV-Box-Android-Quad-Core-CPU-Penta-Core-Schwarz/dp/B078LZY93X
https://www.amazon.de/Dreiadriges-V...48&sr=1-3-fkmr1&keywords=av+cabel+3,5mm+cinch
installing the box there was no picture but crap noise. some people of that cables av out spoke about wrong order of red/white/yellow so we switched around, no change.
a second cable made no difference too.
however i started to play a little bit with that plug of the cable inside the box/port and voila:
pulling the plug out a liitle bit to some sweetspot we got picture and sound, both clean. just a tick more and picture disappears or sound turns to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz like.
should be an issue with the kind of cable or the box?
do other boxes av out work out of the box or does it just not fit?
the cable must be trrs/ three rings at plug else it would not be videao and sound left/right hm?
another question beside if all boxes come with that issue: does the tweak we just found out/use maybe make any damage to the box? should be low voltage anyway and no problem?
what else could we do to fix it better?
av out is the plug in the middle on the picture.
power plug doesnt get in upt to the border of case too but it is put in untill no more possible.
