[Q] Why should I periodically decrypt my device? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Jellybean lists as one on the new features that it will periodically remind the user to decrypt the device.
But it doesn't say WHY.
I gave Googled and searched forums and all I can see are references to the feature and help on encrypting and decrypting.
No one ever mentions why it was important for jellybean to remind the user to decrypt periodically.
Does anyone know WHY this feature was added or why I should decrypt?

no need for big letters mate
maybe do a full wipe and try opening another account from the market that may work.
I assume you have a gmail address and have used it on the device to log in?
When you log into your Android Market account via your PC, using this gmail address, what do you see in My Market Account/Settings?
You should see a list of devices there under My Devices and a list including headers like
NICKNAME VISIBILITY MAKER MODEL CARRIER LAST USED, etc.
Sorry for using big letters. My intention was to get a quick attention.
Yes I used my gmail account thru my Device many times.
But under My devices, it shows "There are no Android devices associated with this account."
whether I should use some special application to associate my device.?
What version of Android Market do you have on your phone?
What ROM? Carrier?
Have you tried signing out, recovering your password and signing back in?

I suggest you simply do a factory restore, that will wipe most stuff on your phone but I guess it doesn't matter since it is a new phone.
Then make sure you enter correct gmail-account when requested after the factory restore (probably what got wrong the first time).
(settings->privacy->factory data reset)
I tried signing out, recovering your password and signing back in method before but it doesn't work.
Regarding ROM and carrier , I have no idea how to identify those things from my device.
Please advice me how to get those information.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

[Q] Preserve an App through factory reset

I've done everything I can think of to determine if this is a question that has been posed elsewhere - to no avail. Nothing quite seems to fit my predicament exactly (that I've found anyway - please feel free to flame/educate me if I have overlooked anything or am in the wrong thread) I am hoping you 1337 pros here on xda devs can help this poor self-loathing n00b. Apologies for the lengthy post - but it is necessary to explain my question.
I am attempting to develop an app (open source for personal use [no ads] - with enterprise edition available for a fee) that can remotely secure/locate an Android device - tablets, phones, etc -- targeted for anything running Froyo or better.
The problem I am running into is that I am unable to prevent a would-be thief from initiating a factory reset and removing the app (and it's configuration settings). I have device admin setup so that the permissions must be revoked after signing in with a username and password before the app can be uninstalled - but factory restore still wipes it.
As this would be a theft deterrent/recovery tool - relying on a thief to connect the device back to the original Google account and reinstall the apps is out of the question. I understand that if the ROM is replaced with a custom ROM (e.g. Cyanogen, etc.) it would not be able to prevent the app from being wiped - but negating the factory reset from removing the app would still be very beneficial.
Short of including the app in the manufacturer's ROM image - is there any work around to be found here? I'm at my wit's end (however limited that may be).
I am most grateful for any information you can provide - even if its bad news.

[Q] Use android without any data being sent to Google?

Hi,
I once found a thread here concerning how to modify android so it does not send any data to google. It involved removing all kinds of system apps and freezing others and so on.
I could not find it again though - does anybody have a guide how to get this done?
No one got any idea?

Accessing Android Backup Service data

Hi,
today I wiped my phone clean to install the stock ROM cleanly, and after I accepted the "sync" options for my google account, it synced the useful stuff (wifi passwords etc), but it also synced some private stuff that I would really like to delete, however I couldn't find any way to access that data.
I googled a lot but I can't find any info regarding this, so hoped someone with more knowledge could help me out. Thanks!
Didn't know the question was that difficult still seeking assistance.

[Q] Can someone explain me what decryption & encryption is?

Hi all, i see that many roms are for decpryted devices only. I never understand what dectyprion is.
How i can see if my device is decrypted? Which are the benefits? Can i switch from decrypted to encrypted every time that i want? How i can do that?
Here is some information on what encryption is:
