So i recently was able to flash CM10. However, when I wanted to revert to my nandroid backup (NeoMaxx ROM), I am stuck in the black custom boot animation. This has not happened in the past when I flashed other roms.
Any ideas/solutions?
Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated

Your going to have to take the boot.img from that rom and flash it in fastboot since your s-on.
When flashing or restoring any ROM you will have to flash the boot.img manually.

Thanks! worked like a charm. Do i have to do this everytime I flash a new rom? Im just wondering why, because in the past i didn't have to do this.

I would say yes. It is just because your s-on so that is why you didn't do it in past depending on your phone. Some ROM installers have scripts to automatically boot into HBOOT. So that might help you there.

First, did you make a nandroid backup of your stock rom before you flashed the senseless rom?
I'm doing this on a friends phone and he didn't

Uh, we need alot more detail to understand what you are trying to do.
I need to install a stock rooted rom coming from Scott's senseless ics rom. I think I may have been following directions for going from a gingerbread rom back to stock. I flashed a stock rooted rom I got of one of the threads on the Dev board. Then flashed the phxxxx.zip that was left on the SD card after the rom flash. Im still pretty new at this. I thought that was the boot image. Now the phone goes to the white HTC screen then shuts off.

I'm looking for some info for this as well. Same scenario but my buddy was able to finally get the ics ROM to boot. now I need to get him back to stock GB rooted because he can't deal with the ics bugs in the ROM. Thanks in advance!

You need to extract the zip file to find the boot image. Then I use Scotts CleanFlash to flash the boot image.

What ICS ROM was he using. I am using Scotts CleanROM 2.2 ICS and it is very stable and solid.
Is there a Mac version of clean flash?

Sorry, not that I am aware of. Can you boot into recovery? If you can, maybe you can pull the SD card and put it into a computer, copy Scotts CleanROM 2.2 ICS on it. Put the SD card back into the phone, Boot into recovery and flash the CleanROM. After the CleanROM is flashed the screen will go back to hboot and you press the power button and it will automatically flash the boot image. This might get you back in the game, at least.
Yes

Well won't boot I guess would be what I mean. I flash the cm10 ROM and HB 1.4 and they boot. Hb1.51 is stuck at the, Asus 'this device is unlocked' screen

Have you tried flashing the same ROM twice ? In other words say you install hairybean or energy.. you reboot and it gets stuck... then manually reboot into recovery and flash the ROM again!. Did you try that ?

Yes, every time you flash a Rom it installs its own stock kernel.

Unless it has xhausx's kernel installer it will not flash the stock Kernel on a s-on device. You may have to flash the kernel if specific updates break functionality such as WiFi

Well first you posted in the wrong section.
2nd s-on? That is important to know. If you are on twrp 2.4.1 and also the latest firmware then you can only flash roms on the newest 3.16 software. I think mean bean is on that base already.

First: wrong section.
But to answer your question, sounds like you flashed the 3.16 tp.img, and you're running twrp 2.4.1.0 and the Rom you tried using are not 3.16. The nand is probably not 3.16

Yup, either fflash a 3.16 based Rom, or, better yet, flash the 3.15 touch panel image. Its in the firmware section in the meanbean thread
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
but why would my touch panel software be 3.16 when i was flashing a rom based on 3.15? i was flashing operation jelly bean rsl1.
how can i flash that 3.15 tp firmware if im s-on?
Your touch panel version doesn't change no matter what version Rom you flahs

Your nandroid isn't working cause of the new touch driver. To restore you gotta s-off

So like I said before. Flash the new mean bean, or s-off you device.
You should try to get an understanding of what you're doing. Read then read some more. Else you could end up with a brick.

So I recently rooted my phone and I tried to install the CM 10.1 mod. I did everything correctly except I didn't backup my original rom. So now the custom rom won't boot up because it gets stuck at the HTC startup screen and stays there. I went back into the twrp and tried to re-install the custom rom and again it didn't work. Now I went back and all my files are gone including the custom rom! So basically I think that the phone is booting because there is nothing on there. I tried to change the recovery image back to the original htc rom according to htcevohacks.com and i tried doing a factory reset but it didn't work. is it possible to fix this if so how? Thanks.

If you can get into twrp you can mount usb storage and put the Rom zip back on and the reason it won't boot is because you are s-on you need to fastboot flash the boot.img first

ok so as you guys said I can put the rom back on and install it and I have tried it. I got the initial set up of the new rom but the touchscreen doesn't work. I tried 2 other roms too and the touchscreen doesn't work on all of them. Do i just have to keep trying out roms? If you guys could post any roms that you have tried before that'd be great. I just want my phone to run something right now.
Try running a ROM based on the 3.16 OTA such as ViperROM or MeanBean. What version of TWRP are you on?
Also note if you use either of the ROM's listed above, they have S-on kernel installers. Just follow the installation instructions.

Give it a shot. The 3.16 OTA included a touch panel driver update. If you have the updated driver you can only run 3.16 base ROM's and also must use TWRP 2.4+, otherwise, your touch panel won't work. If you gain S-off you can downgrade the driver and run whatever ROM you want.
Once S-off you don't have to fool with flashing the kernel separately, either

So according to the MeanBean developer the kernel installer is built in, so all i have to do is flash the .zip file and it will take care of everything correct?

I think, if I recall correctly, you have to flash the ROM zip twice. After you flash the first time, you will be prompted to flash it again.
