Last night I did some testing with an OTG. My Creative Fatality usb headset worked perfectly, as did my wired Xbox controller. Using the wired controller with Shadowgun Deadzone gave me a great advantage. I found myself in the top 3 every round(many times 1st & 2nd). It played just like Gears of War.

Just got my OTG Cable in today and I cannot use a PS3 controller for MC4; the d-pad only works for the basic front left and right movement. I cannot get it to work for the aiming *letdown*. For some reason, the Galaxy Note 2 also does not recognize my Razer TRON mouse; it recognizes it as a keyboard and so it zooms across the screen too fast. I now am using a wired basic Microsoft mouse for it and it's pretty cool and moves at a reasonable speed.
I just checked whether or not it can use my USB thumb drive and that is a go also. It has been formatted to exFAT. I can load excel files through my phone and edit them, which is pretty cool.
Overall, I think it was worth the $5 I spent on Amazon with the free shipping (Amazon Prime). I just will need to update my other accessories (USB HUB, maybe some Bluetooth devices, and a wired Xbox360 controller).
If you guys would like me to try out any other free games with a wired PS3 controller, reply to my post and/or send me a message.

Yeah, I heard about that. I just don't think it's time for me to root at the moment. I'll most likely look into getting a launcher to get home screen landscape view.
Are there any other "fun" console like games that are free to play?

I bought this Bluetooth Mini QWERTY keyboard w/ Touchpad from ankaka.com. I plan to use it with my Gtab in docking mode connected through HDMI to my 42" LCD TV:
http://www.ankaka.com/mini-bluetooth-qwerty-keyboard-with-touchpad-and-laser-pointer_p47808.html
It's been a month and has shipped but still has not arrived in San Jose, CA. I have ordered other items and it takes about 4 weeks. Excellent prices and pretty neat items. I also ordered their Leather Gtablet case w/ USB Mini keyboard
This is the link for the Leather Case w/ USB Mini Keyboard for 10" Tab: http://www.ankaka.com/leather-case-with-usb-mini-keyboard-for-10-inch-tablet-pc_p47031.html
You can get it faster but at twice the price. Also, Logitech makes a portable trackball mini bluetooth keyboard but it's around $150.00. It's a very nice product, but way too expensive IMO to use exclusively w/ the GTab.

anybody have some stuff to add?
I can pair my Logitech diNovo Mini, but it will not connect.
I have one of the IOGEAR Wireless Keyboards with a trackball/mouse button built into it. I bought it for use with my HTPC, but it seemed to work fine (both mouse and keyboard) whenever I plugged it into my G tablet. At the time, I was running VeganTAB 5.1...I can try it on TnT-Lite sometime later today.
It's a very small USB dongle that plugs into the tablet, and the actual keyboard is a little wider than the size of the tablet, for reference. Think laptop keyboard. Extremely handy for my HTPC, but I might try carrying it around to class and see how it works.
anyways, I can't post links yet, but if you search newegg for IOGEAR GKM561R it'll come up. it's about $49 or so.

The Dongle. I wasnt aware that it worked bluetooth. The touch pad works but it's pretty slow.
My touchpad works but I can only move the "X" 3/4 of the screen. It does work with emulators though But I am using the dongle plugged into the docking station. I also noticed I have to switch the touchpads vertical/horizontal to get it moving correctly. Anyone with the same?
Also noticed there are 2 models of this keyboard.....I have the USB wireless one...they also make a bluetooth. The bluetooth driver is on the website.
I ran the Android.apk file they have for the bluetooth version just to see what it does and it force closes under Vegan 5.1 ( installs fine but )
Im using logitech dinovo mini with galaxy tab.

Doesn't having a mouse and keyboard kind of defeat the purpose of having a tablet?
After fighting to get a bluetooth keyboard to work with sporadic success I picked up a Superior Loftek Rii Touch N7 Mini Wireless Keyboard 2.4 GHz from Amazon. This is a Wireless USB keyboard and uses a tiny little dongle that sticks out about a quarter of an inch on the usb port in the GTab.
It works great. No issues running under Vegan. Well, one tiny issue, like others have reported with other keyboards, the touchpad seems to only cover about 3/4 of the Gtab's screen. But I hardly ever use the touchpad anyhow.

For light typing you could get by without a keyboard/mouse. But if you're like me and use your gTab almost as a desktop replacement and have to do a lot email sending and responding, you really appreciate a physical keyboard.

Then went to Radioshak and brought this one, Which works beautifully with Prime.

Belkin makes really TopNotch products. This is a good find, thanks for this. I was looking for one.
Hi, I ordered this and it arrived today and works great. Picks it up straight away as an ethernet port. Got 40 mbs. I am in the uk.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0015TC0D0
Thanks a lot for this first hand experience guys - I buy my stuff from Amazon either in the UK or the USA and live on the other side of the world so I need to make sure that the stuff I purchase actually works as returns are not an option!
I have tried two devices, and both work well:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00484IEJS/
and
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10311&cs_id=1031102&p_id=6150&seq=1&format=2
Because the Monoprice device doesn't have any cable, I recommend getting a short USB extension cable to use with it. The device plugs into the keyboard dock and the Cat 5 cable, which is thick, cumbersome and a bit unforgiving, plugs into the other end and creates unwanted tension. I got a 1.5 foot USB extension cable for less than $1:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10303&cs_id=1030304&p_id=8604&seq=1&format=2
Both of these devices work well with the Transformer Prime.
The Belkin one looks by far the nicest, I have always found them to make quality products too.
Amazon.com sell it for $5 cheaper and will ship to the UK (and i presume Europe too): http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F4U047-RS-Ethernet-Adapter-100MBPS/dp/B005UUY24A
Thanks. Ordered my Belkin adapter today.

Thx to XDA and info found here I managed to build a working dock for motorola razr. I used pass-through micro HDMI - HDMI, cheapest USB Hub and micro USB cable with thin wire connecting 4 and 5 pin.
Motorola really should change the sales system.

So you have easy way to fix that. Buy cheap USB hub, dismantle dock, cut holes for additional ports and solder few cables. Do nothing with HDMI.
And download NEBTOP app.

[TIP] Xbox 360 Controller to Android

Hi,
I found out that as long as you have a micro usb to female usb adapter for your phone (I paid £1.99 on ebay for mine) and software upwards of Honeycomb (3.0) it is possible to use the microsoft xbox 360 controller for windows to play games on your device. (note: it wont work on GB Ive tried and failed)
it works for most games such as dead trigger and emulators etc.. even gta 3 but there is no option to configure the controller in gta 3 so you cannot define which button does what
It is as simple as plugging in the usb wireless reciever/ wired usb controller to your device and playing games of your choice.
All we need now is an app that can define the controls for games like gta 3 etc.. (unless there already is one that i havent been able to find)
Just wanted to Share this in the S forum as i had no idea that you can do it and im sure there are others who dont know yet, now you do!!
Please dont post saying you already knew this the thread is for others that dont know about it.
Happy gaming!!

do other games like dead trigger, gta 3 work with your controller or not??? ??
It works fine with the S and the wireless receiver, i havent tried it with a wired controller but everything ive read led me to believe it would work.
I did try it using the play and charge cable but that doesn't seem to work, although i may have broken it trying to charge the controller through the AC adapter for the phone lol :silly:
I never got any 'device power' errors, i just plugged everything in and it works perfectly :highfive: a powered usb hub may work but i havent tried that as i dont own one.
BTW what controller are you using that gives you the power error, wired or wireless??
I have a wired x360 controller and can't connect it with OTG cable, it says "device is using too much power". Maybe it would work with usb hub.

Apparently a powered usb hub fixes alot of problems with flash drives so applying the same logic to a controller may help
Let me know if it works please :fingers-crossed:
Also does anyone know a way of defining the controls for gta 3?
Maybe with some sort of app?
Yes it does. My 360 wired pad works only with a powered hub. I use a,Belkin 4 port hub.

Photo is with my old Neo V but it works the same with SXS.
I'll try explaining why it works:
The pad after connecting, announces it's name, brand etc. and power requirements. X360 wired controller announces that it can draw up to 500mA. Phone(Neo V, hadn't checked exact values at Xperia S) can give through USB to a device up to 300mA power, so controller gets disconnected.
After installing a USB HUB, even passive, Xperia gives power to it, and doesn't care what else get connected.
In that way we can connect almost everything, but there's a slight chance of burning a power module, when device that we connected will draw more power that source can give. I think that is not likely to happen because it's secure connection and when power draws about max it just disconnect.
I connected wireless mouse receiver, wired mouse and X360 wired controller in one time and it was still working.
:good:
I've never imagined that...
I actually like the microphone on the X360 headset, so i have a wireless receiver plugged on my pc for the controller.
It would be amaaazing to use it on my Xperia U to play some Snes or n64 games.
It's fantastic! I buy this wire an i try on my xperia u
PS3 controllers also work. I ended up being a creating my own OTG cable using an unused male/male USB/microUSB cable and the female USB port from an unused wall charger (and some very basic soldering). After that the wireless Afterglow controller was just a plug-and-play affair.
Though, the safer bet is to just pay the 5 bucks or so for a real OTG cable.

Xbox Controller & DNA?

Hello. Has anyone tried a wired or wireless w/dongle Xbox 360 controller with their DNA? Since the PS3 controllers don't seem to be working, I'm looking for an alternative.
TIA for any and all responses.
Sent from within using Tapatalk 2
Well wireless ain't gonna work I can tell you that much. The reason a ps3 controller works is because it uses Bluetooth.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Using an OTG adapter and the USB dongle for connecting a wireless Xbox 360 controller to a PC, people have been able to use the wireless xbox controller with most Android 4.0+ devices.
Just wondering if it works for our DNA before I go out and purchase one since the PS3 controller doesn't work.
Sent from within using Tapatalk 2
Seems like HTC has given our OTG limited functionality. Until now I've never had a device where I couldn't just plug in my XBox controller and go. And yes, if OTG is working as intended you can use the wireless dongle and a wireless controller. I may start swapping some libs to see if I can get this **** working as it should.

What's weird is the vendor files for xbox and other controllers are on the device, it just doesn't work. Hoping it's a bug and will be fixed in the next update.

So I did some research and apparently the only problem is getting the DNA to supply power to the device. Supposedly the USB OTG is not handicapped in any other way besides it not providing power. If you supply your own power to the device (via a Y cable or powered hub) then it should work fine. Getting power to the device via the DNA would be a kernel thing I'll ask dsb if he's seen anything that may help us.
First off, can anyone with a powered hub test it out to make sure everything works as it should so we can move forward?

It will power usb sticks just fine as they don't require much power. For devices that draw more power (USB hard drives, XBox controllers, etc.) it stops supplying power and gives you an "unable to charge device" error.
Also, mine mounts just fine without any app. It mounts under /storage/usb/ and there is a symlink to /mnt/usb/.
I tried the whole ps3 controller thing....doest work. I did however have a usb otg adapter and an old usb gravis gamepad (ps3) style and it worked flawlessly. I know best buy sells a logitech version of what i have for $24.99. As for the mount i used a coat hanger that i re-bent with some gaphers tape. Now vice city plays awsome!!!! Ymmv... Cheers gentlemen!!!

Bought the $25 controller from Best Buy. No luck with it. Powered USB hub should show up tomorrow. I'll let you guys know how that goes.

I have a Usb hub and otg cable hooked up and my phone powered a Microsoft sidewinder x4 keyboard and g9x mouse at the same time just fine.
Yup, it's def not got anything to do with power not being supplied. OTG cable plugged into a powered usb hub makes no difference for the PS3 controller. I was however able to get the device to semi recognize the wired xbox controller. When I booted up Shadowgun with the xbox controller hooked to the powered usb hub, it gave me the option to set up a gamepad, which only happens when you have one plugged in. I wasn't able to set any of they keys with it, though. So not really functioning. I'm guessing something to do with the Kernel versus anything hardware related.
Already in contact with HTC regarding this issue. We'll see what they're willing to do about it.
