How to extract files from ROM

Hi,
As the new ICS 4.0.3 seems to have gotten rid of the libraries required for call recording, I am willing to extract the relevant libraries from a 2.3.6 ROM, replace and give it a shot. I already have a few of them with me, for example Official DXKL3.
I need to extract the following 3 files -
system/lib/libaudiopolicy.so
system/lib/libaudioflinger.so
system/lib/libaudio.so
How can I extract these files from a ROM?
On you pc or on you phone click extract here. And will be exctracted about 6 files. Navigate to system app and find wht app you want. Copy and replace. I guess I understood right what you mean.
Get a utility program like 7Zip, IZarc, WinRar on your PC & open up the zip/tarfile & you can see the individual files & extract same.
However...
What you're attempting to do will not work. Different framework.
Points for thinking outside the box tho.
Thanks... Though when I use 7z, it only extracts zImage, factoryfs, etc., only a handful of files. I cannot see the individual files in the file system. Also 7z cannot extract these files anymore...
Ahh I think I was talking about already "cooked" ROM, and you guys are talking about the source? Sorry I am very new to the terminologies used. If that is the case I will check if I can find these files in the source tarball.
Try another program if 7Zip doesn't work. Try IZarc. I can see every file in the roms I have with it.

[Q] Need help unzipping root66 file

Whats up everyone. Finally got my hands on a pc to root my verizon s3. Downloaded all needed files and now im at the point of extracting the root66 to a tar file. Havnt been on windows for a while so off memory I d/led winzip. That didn't work because I guess incompatible with. Z7? Okay, so thats fine so I figure theres something else out there for this exact file type. Do a quick Google search and found 7 zip. But now every time I try to extract im getting "cannot open xxxx as archive".
Don't know if this helps but my file is still in my download folder and images trying to extract it to the same folder. I tried all the other options as well but to no avail. So any help would be greatly appreciated

[Req] Extract apk from image file-how?

Hi all. Can an apk be extracted from an image file?
The image file is the .tar.md5 of the official UK ICS update from sammobile.
I've done a search and so far can't find how to do this.
Is it even possible?
There's a particular app in the UK version that's not in the US version I want to install
on my US 7510 wifi tab.
Thanks.
As I know, .tar files are archive file like zip. just for Linux. have you tried to open it with 7zip.?
I don't know if it works, but maybe.

WebOS 3.0.0 jar file

While attempting to follow rr5678's Factory reverting instructions on downgrading the TP to 3.0.0 (after downloading all the files) I then came to the point of having to then install 3.0.0 through the downloaded Web Doctor .jar file but sadly its not a jar file but appears to be only the source pieces.
After searching endlessly for the .jar file I've about give up. Is there anyone who has the actual 3.0.0 jar file?

Thanks SStar but it is also just the source files. I'm in desperate need of the actual .jar version.
Or is someone could give me direction on what to do with these file (in the downloaded zip)?

It's probably the browser you're using . Try renaming it to. jar . If that doesn't work pm me and I will give you a link of the jar file that I have uploaded as a .rar file so you would need to unrar it.

Can't help you then. That's how I always bluetooth apk files across, delete apk extension to bluetooth then rename it with the apk extension once it arrives on the other device...
Never failed...
