Can't help you then. That's how I always bluetooth apk files across, delete apk extension to bluetooth then rename it with the apk extension once it arrives on the other device...
Never failed...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
you don't rename it.
on computer you extract it, go into system and you see the apk
it won't let you install on phone by just clicking
put on sd card
go to astro, or root manager
move the memo.apk to system/app
done.
you need to extract the folder with winrar winzip whatever then there is a folder with the apk in it. copy it over to your phone under downloads or where ever you want to put it. then install.
edit: just did all that i said and when i tried to install the apk it says "application not installed"
just did what u said, even rebooted, and still don't see it

read the post above.
you have to move the .apk to system/apps
because memo isn't a regular app.
got the same thing. used astro, place the apk in system/apps. nothing happened. rebooted, still nothing. then even tried using the app manager in astro to install it and it says "there is a problem parsing the package"
Link no longer working... could somebody upload it again please ?
thanks

You can just use Roman's Bloater if you like.

I've tried this with MIUI (1.7.22) on a SGS Captivate with no success. I have flashed many roms and installed/sideloaded many apps over the past 10 months. I know I'm doing it right, as I have 'installed' other system apps by moving the apk to /system/apps and fixing permissions and ownership. Has this worked for anyone on a MIUI ROM?
Another related question would be - is there a way to export the notes from the stock memo.apk?

Needed \System\app folder content? (only .apk files)

Hi guys,
I'd like to ask you if Android really need .APK files in folder \System\app ? Can I delete for example all these .apk files or are they used by OS? I know that I can use concrete .APK when I need to, but maybe I can make a copy of all to computer and delete them from phone...?
It's just for my info, I have no problem with disk space or something like that....just for info
Thanx,
Rado

[Q] apk filetype not being recognized by APK OneClick

First off I will say this is the greatest tool I have ever came across and I am thankful for anyone that had hand in its production. The tool of course is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873466 and it has been working great for me. But earlier today I used winrar to open a com apk file and edit a specific txt file however I accidentally didn't un-click the "use as default program" box and now right-clicking and apk file will not display the decompile option or install to phone option any longer. I figured since the default program had been changed it was not being recognized by one click apk any longer so I deleted the default program for the apk file type in the registry and uninstalled then re installed the shellext for APK_OneClick however the right-click apk options still will not show. I can recompile folders to APKs but nothing else. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated and thanks in advanced it is driving me crazy.
I am assuming my problem is fro the whole winrar accident as the icon provided with OneClick no longer is displayed for apk files either I just can't solve the issue.
I have tried open file with whe right clicking apks and it will allow me to select the decompile file in the APK_OneClick folder manully but then after recompiling the disarm folder back into an APK it fails to install to the phone via USB and after moving it to the phone it has a parsing error. Any help on how to fix the right click problem or at least fix my parsing issue would be much appreciated. Thank you all!

[Q] Workaround for inability to install apps from Gear Manager?

Hi -- Per another thread, some of us are getting hangs when we try to install anything from the Galaxy Gear app store using Gear manager. Obviously, the best solution would be a fix for that. However, in the meantime, I thought maybe I could find some .wgt files and install them with sdb.
Aside from the fact that even the sdb connection seems a bit flakey, the bigger issue is that the .wgt apps I can find get rejected because they are not properly signed (for the S or whatever). I don't see a way I can turn of the signing verification (so nice of Samsung to provide watch software with so many bugs but then make sure and protect us from trying to actually make use of the device some other way).
Does anyone have a workaround for this? I've also tried to see if I can crack open an .apk from the Gear store to get the .wgt I assume is inside, but even after I've got a Gear S app "hung" on "Installing..." I don't see a .apk anywhere on my phone (S4) file system. It seems like there should be some way to put various pieces together to install apps other than with the official, but broken, way. Any ideas would be appreciated!
I have my Gear S running with an HTC One, and also can't install directly from Gear Manager. I can find the .wgt file in my /system/data/data/com.android.samsung.galaxyapps (or something like that) / files folder, then install it via USB cable with "sdb install [file].wgt".

Bill -- I was hoping I could do that, but I can't find any .wgt files (I've searched pretty thoroughly using ES Explorer). I don't know if the Galaxy Gear App process doesn't even get far enough to create them? I tried a couple .wgt files for other Gear units I found on the web, but when I sdb them they fail with certificate errors. If you (or someone) can post a .wgt that is known to work with the Gear S that I can try to sideload, that'd be appreciated (or if someone has another way I can to to get the .wgt files from the apps I'm trying to download using Galaxy Apps.

You have to rename or move the the .wgt file while Galaxy Apps is hanging on "Installing..." before it fails. When it fails it will remove the file.
To avoid the certificate signing issue, create a new project in the Tizen Developer Tools IDE, change the file extension of the given .wgt to to .zip, and copy the contents of the zip (asside from the certificate xml files) into the new Tizen project and build to the watch. No more signing error.
You can do the same to APK files, just change them to .zip to extract the .wgt file embedded inside of them.

That's what I've been trying to do, but I'm not finding the .wgt even during that Window of time. Doing a search with ES Explorer doesn't find anything, so I think maybe I have to know exactly what directory Galaxy Apps places things in. But I don't have a System/data/data (like you mentioned you do), and I can't seem to figure out where in the FS the temp files might be. [I'm running KangaKat 8.1, which is 4.4.4., in case that provides any ideas]. I'll keep looking around!
PS Thanks for the suggestion on the Cert. That should be helpful as well.

Ahh, thanks. My phone is definitely rooted (that's likely why all the problems with gear in the first place), but the Root settings got turned off for Explorer at some point. It also appears that my equivalent folder is under "/data/data/..." instead of under /system, but in any case once I turened on the root switch it was easy to find. Now to try to load some widgets! Thanks again!

That worked. I was able to get Opera Mini & an Alarm app installed. Thanks! I haven't figured out how to get Watch Styler themes over, so I need to read up more on how it works.

Just wonder how you accessed these folders once you are rooted and where you got the apps from?

I followed the instructions in the post further up the thread from Oleyb about snagging the .wgt file while the install was running.
Thanks for the reply...unfortunately my gear s is standalone so I don't have access to the Galaxy store :/. The watch would have been so much better if Samsung would have I clouded this on the watch itself....let's hope a dev or modded can one day figure that out...thanks again!

How do you know what files are the certificate files? And do you have to do anything else after deleting the certificates before building to the watch? Thanks in advance!
