[Q] Samsung Galaxy S2 ROM Installed but really bricked - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
Just joined the XDA Developers group to get some expert opinion from the Gurus here.
I have been using the ROMs to upgrade my many android phones successfully in the past from Motorola Cliq, to Orange San Francisco to my Galaxy S2 to now Galaxy Tab P1000.
The trouble came when I thought of upgrading my wife's Samsung Galaxy S2, and I will be dammed if I cant fix her phone.
The phone was on Android 2.3.6 before I tried my hands on it.
I downloaded an ICS ROM (I9100XXLPQ_I9100OXALPQ_I9100XXLPQ_HOME.tar.md5 from dont know where) and used Odin v1.85 to flash the phone. Everything went well until the phone rebooted.
After the reboot the phone entered the OS, but now I have no home screen except the status bar on top which I can pull down. The status bar is fully functional i.e. it shows that its connected to wifi, shows its on Silent mode, shows the right time, and battery and also the USB connected icon when I plug in the USB.
The trouble is I cant do anything else as there is nothing else in display, I cant switch to apps screen and therefore I cant get on to Settings or Google Play to install any apps to reboot into recovery mode.
The worst part is that the phone now doesnt go to download or recovery mode, whatever I try (volume up/down, with or without home key pressed, with and without USB cable plugged in etc).
All I can do is to connect the phone using USB and transfer from and to files to it.
Can someone help me to understand how to recover this phone, and if there is any other way to go to download or recovery mode without using any key combinations? or if I can remotely run the apps from a PC using a USB cable? Samusng Kies does seem to recongise the phone, but I have been unsuccessful in using "Emergency Firmware Recovery" or "Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation" so far on the phone.
Any help will really save my time to continue my research on other home projects to keep my lovely wife happy :silly:

1-download stock firmware from sammobile.com
2-go to download mode - vol down+home+power button at the same time
3-start odin and put firmware to pda collum, dont touch anything else on odin
4-conect usb to pc
5-flash firmware

Mistahbungle can come over to your house with a usb jig and fix your phone and your wife can thank him personally....

yeh you need usb jig. as you cannot go to download mode also... hope you got your lunch and dinner

[Q] Galaxy s2 rooting help

Hi i wonder if any one could help me, I have a brand new gs2 never moded. I am trying to root it and have downloaded the latest version of Kiers and it works fine on my windows 7 32bit pc but when i try to put the phone into usb debugging mode and put it in download mode for odin3 the pc cant see phone any idea's would be helpful.
Cheers
Dave
Kies and its child processes must be stopped. USB mode doesn't matter for Odin. Phone must be in download mode (DM) - you switch off the phone, then press and hold volume down+menu+power buton simultaneousely, a warning will appear, then you confirm it by pressing volume up, voila you're in.
Feel a bit of a tit did everything but press up spent 2 days mucking about with phone and reading forums and it was just me

Flashed Wrong Recovery - CWM and Download mode don't work

I tried to Unroot my Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE last night and think I may have bricked my tablet. I used the instructions here on the XDA forum which had a link to all the Stock ROM's in one place. I got the most recent one and the only one for USA but it said it was for the model 7510. I didn't think that would be a problem since the USB drivers I installed on my PC were also labeled as being for the 7510 and they worked.
This tablet is the SCH-I905. Now I can't get it to boot at all. Gets stuck in a boot loop. Shows the Samsung logo, then resets and does it again. I can't get it in recovery mode either. Goes to a black screen and hangs.
Using the normal process to get to Download mode doesn't work. Holding Power and Volume Up, then letting go of the Power button, then pressing Volume Down and then Up. That's one weird thing. I can get to the option screen that shows the Download and Recovery mode options. Normally I would hit the Volume Down button to select Download mode and on the screen it says to press Volume Up to continue or Volume Down to cancel. If I press Volume Up it goes to a black screen and hangs. If I press Volume Down I get the Odin Download screen that says Waiting on USB cable.
That screen doesn't look the same as what I normally see but I'm not sure what's different. I didn't memorize each line of text. I just know there's not as much text there as there usually is. My PC will not recognize the tablet no matter which USB port I try to use and the tablet doesn't recognize that the USB cable is plugged in. I had no problem with the USB connection before I flashed the 7510 stock ROM.
So, if I cannot get to recovery mode and I can't get Download mode to work so I can use Odin to flash a different rom then is this thing bricked or is there something else I can try? I am about to try using my laptop and its USB ports but I don't think that's going to make any difference.
BTW, I have since found the correct 'stock recovery rom' at droidbasement.com and downloaded it to my PC. I just need to get on the tablet somehow.
Many people have your problem. I have my Lte verizon bricked as yours. The problem is demaged bootloader, only nvflash can fix it but actually our bootloader is locked and we need a hex key called sbk. At least we have to wait that somebody hack our tab from the basement. For now we can only search and share result.

SCH-I905 Tablet Rally Stuck

I was trying to root and update this tablet, and I think I killed it. The current state is that I can only boot into ODIN3 Download Mode. If I hold down the power and up volume I get the two choices. If I try to boot into recovery mode the table just reboots. I can go into the download mode. One interesting change is that now I have to press the volume down to proceed verses vol up. The text loads to Waiting USB Cable (upper left corner). When I run Odin on my laptop I cannot see the table. I was able to see the tablet earlier before this "hang up" so I am confident that it is not the cable or drivers. I have uninstalled and re installed drivers. If I connect another tablet (same model) it is recognized. So basically all I can do is get to the screen where it says Downloading and can not see it from my laptop. I have even tried another laptop and loaded the drivers and Odin and still could not see it. I have tried Odin vr 1.85 and 3.07 neither work. At this point If I could get anything loaded I would be happy and there is nothing on it that needs to be saved. This is the Verizon 4g model.

Try using another tablet with the same model in download mode and another USB Cable and connect it, then use the USB Cable you used to connect the other tab.
It ran out of battery power last night. Will it take a charge if there is no firmware, or software on the tablet? I have it on the charger now and the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again" message just popped up. I will let it charge for a while and try the USB cable swap idea.
Charge it even if it says "Emergency Firmware Required". Then turn it on and connect it to kies, go to emergency firmware recovery, it should show your device up there, if not flash a stock rom using odin.

[Q] Samsung S3 not responding at all!

I have a samsung galaxy s3 i9300! While i was sleeping, i was charging my phone and when i woke up the phone was stuck at the initial logo screen of samsung! Then, i tried to press the home bottom power and volume up bottom to reset while it was doing that it went back again to the logo screen before being able to choose wipe cache and stuff! I tried it several times! Then as i was searching through net i saw that odin thing custom Rom and i thought that maybe i should give it a try! So i tried to installed it by connecting my phone to the laptop but my pc did not identify my phone! Then I tried again by connecting and disconnecting the pc with my phone and while doing so i pushed the button of Repartition at Odin. My phone was not identified so i have no idea if that happened! Now my phone does not even open, or charging! Please tell me if there is a way to make it work again!
It might be of some help to mention that my charger is a new one that i bought from bol.com and its not the original one! I have no idea if that affected somehow the mobile functioning.
No, you are unlikely to fix that. You can try a usb jig, see if download mode will start, but it sounds like partial SDS followed by user panic until it was hard bricked.
If it didnt show in odin you have a driver issue and the repartition wouldn't have happened.
Remove battery, sd and sim. Make sure the battery is charged.
Insert battery and hold home+vol down while pressing power once.
If the screen lights up do not let go of home+vol down until it has entered download mode. If the phone wont light up at this point you have a bigger problem.
Once in download mode install the samsung mobile device drivers on your pc, you might need to try different versions, and plug the phone into the pc's usb on the motherboard. Try to avoid using front mounted or shared ports as they are unreliable. If your phone doesnt interact with your pc try other drivers.

Galaxy S3 gt I9300 Straight Talk bricked

Hello and thanks for looking at my post, I have a straight talk galaxy s3 with a 8gb sd card from straight-talk wireless, I tried to install cyanogenmod (latest) using CWM with the firmware on my phone downgraded to H1 (so I could have root). After this happened, I tried letting the phone charge and seeing what was wrong, I found out 2 things
1) The phone will NOT boot into recovery or anything else, even with a jig
2) The computer makes a sound when I plug the phone in, but I cannot access any of the files
3) Phone is not recognized by ADB
The only light I get from my phone is a solid red light when that only happens when I take the battery out and plug in the phone with a USB(The light is a solid RED)
I do have a read/write tool for micro sd to computer, but I do not know if it would help me, I am at wits end and am very frustrated at this sudden brick, please help if you can.
Any and all help you can give me is well appreciated, thank you in advance, if you need any other information please don't hesitate to PM me or reply.
Does the computer hang when detecting the phone?. If so the phone is double borked and unsaveable.
Remove battery, plug into a powered usb lead and press power while holding home + vol down, until the screen lights up, to enter download mode. If no download mode the phone is total loss.
If you manage to get download mode you can then use odin 3.0x to flash a stock rom.
Select "ap" or "pda" in odin and find your rom then click "start" in odin to flash. Wait until "pass" is displayed.
If you have download mode but pc wont see the phone try other and older drivers.
Ps, red led means charging.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
