Really Screwed Up JB Install - Motorola Droid RAZR

I originally posted in the JB update thread, but realize posting a separate one is best.
Looking for some help from the experts (but I think waiting for JB fastboot files may be my only option).
I installed the JB leak last night, and restored my apps using TiBU. All was well until I re-booted, and got stuck in the startup animation. Then it hit me.... I selected restore apps AND system data (stupid).
I found a thread elsewhere that got me out of that, into recovery, and, and allowed the phone to boot. Root stayed intact, and all appeared to be well, but now I realize several problems:
1) No notifications, alarms, or ringtones. (Startup sounds that did work prior to the fiasco are now silent, as well.)
2) All sound during phone activity emanates from the speaker. When Bluetooth is active, sound comes from the earpiece AND the speaker. Headphones inserted into the headphone jack have no effect.
3) MP3 files will not play with the stock player.
UPDATE: MP3 files will play with PowerAmp, but again, only through speaker. The system knows headphones have been plugged in (I get a "high-volume" warning) and un-plugged (audio stops), but will not play through them.
I have performed FDR and re-installed the update to no avail.
ANY help will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Andy

Just "thinking out loud." here.....
If I install Safestrap, and load another ROM (like spc_hicks09 -
BDH JB 98.72.8) would this be a work-around?
Andy

Well seeing as the leak is an update then yea you might just have to wait until something official comes out.
edit - suggested something you already tried.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm limping along with vibrate turned on for all alerts and ring, and put a piece of tape over the speaker so I can use my Bluetooth headset. (Still hear the other person talking, but it's a lot quieter.
If anyone has other ideas how I can fix this (I. E. Load another ROM via SS, maybe?) I'm all ears.
In the meantime..... C'mon fastboot files!!
Andy
EDIT: Oh, another symptom: streaming music services like Pandora and Jango won't play. Song titles just flip from one to the next as if of played the entire song in one second.

i don't see where it would hurt to run another rom in safestrap to see if its localized to the jb ota or if it's something bigger.
Look for a rom built for the jellybean kernel, load it up, and come back with results.
It's what I would do anyways.
Hope all goes well, let us know how it goes.

I'm curious to find out as well. I don't want to steal the thread, but are the hardware drivers for stuff like audio open? If so then yea it would probably be no problem, if not then not sure. Yes, please do let us know.

SUCCESS!!!!!!
AHHH-HAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!
I installed SafeStrap, loaded up Rage, and am now rockin' a fully-functional Droid Razr MAXX!!! :victory:
I had a weird situation for awhile where no audio would play from the speaker (exactly the opposite of my original problem), but I used the JB vibrate/sound-on lockscreen slider to switch back and forth, and now I appear to be running at 100% functionality.
A BIG thanks to CamoMike over at droidforums for posting the method to escape the perpetual boot animation (before my battery went TU), and to spc_hicks09 for a great JB ROM!

Finally I flash 98.72.16 hoping it will kick start something nothing help!!!
I still have root under 98.72.16 tried what you did safestrap 3.11 but Rage rom link is currently dead tried other jelly beam roms to see if sound was working on them but can't get to boot they just reset thinking is the kernel difference
haven't tried flashing the full 98.72.16 release yet afraid to brick it since it's for ICS to Jelly beam

[HELP] Audio cuts out. No sound during phone calls.

So I recently just rooted my droid and I'm running the evileris firmware atm I'm really happy with everything except that my phone can no longer make phone calls. The sound during phone calls does not work and I think it may not work sometimes in the music player as well. It works when I plug in the headphones but when i take them out no sound.
Airplane mode and resetting do not fix this problem and the updates that I've tried flashing from [FIX] Audiofix. NEED TESTERS FOR NEW KERNEL in the Hero CDMA forum do not work either.
This phone worked fine before rooting and flashing and the problem is present on all the roms I've used. The update above simply hangs my phone at the bootscreen, no matter which one I use. (Maybe its written just for hero?)
Anyways I was hoping one of you guys could have a fix or maybe have also had this same problem? Thanks!
(from what I've read in the thread above it seems the issue is a bad kernel that hangs up or fails to reset so you have to do it manually, but resetting doesn't fix the issue for my. My problem is constant phone call audio loss)
UPDATE: I have done some more experimenting and it seems the only problem is from the in-cal speaker, because when I put speakerphone on it works fine. The problem lies with the front speaker (part that goes to your ear).
maybe your phone is broken?
I went back down to 1.5 root, works fine. Its an issue with 2.1 :/ So currently I have 2 nandroid backups, 1 of 1.5 and 1 of 2.1 so I'm just switching in between the two.
did you try....
Did you wipe before flashing? After flashing did you try *228 opt 1? This may help as it sorted my audio issues with another Rom.
im having this same problem and i have no clue why i have tried everything knows possible to fix this.
I wipe before each flash as well as each recovery haha. atm my setup is 2.1 evil eris for the weekends and 1.5root for the weekday when i actually need to make calls
*228 opt 1 did not work btw
I just make a new backup at the end of the week and recover to the other one, works like a dual-boot pc or a bootcamp mac. It works, but its getting kidna old I'd rather just have 2.1 for good haha.
Longtime lurker.....1st time poster....I just installed leak v2 (I was one of those that was too impatient to wait for root)...I had the same problem that everything worked fine except the phone had no in call sound. went through all the setting and found that TTY was set to full...I unchecked it and the sound came back. I know this may be simple...but it worked for me.

I'm having the same problem... During a phone call, I get no sound / can't hear the person I am calling from the "internal speakers" (i.e. the one you hold to your ear during a call). If I switch to external speakers (i.e. loudspeakers) I can hear the person I'm calling...
What is this "TTY" setting that fixed this problem for you? Where can I find it and uncheck it?

[Q] VEGAn 5.1 audio issues...no sound

Last night I updated my g tablet to the most recent VEGAn ROM 5.1. I wiped all the data from my device via clockwork, wiped the Dalvik cache and repartitioned the internal memory as well. The install went smooth and everything is running great except for the fact that I now have no audio coming from my speakers. Turning the volume all the way up does nothing. I tried reinstalling the ROM but the issue repeats itself. Anyone have the same problem? Or, anyone have an idea how to fix this? Thanks.
Sound works fine here. I did have to take it out of silent mode.

Sound fine here too. Volume rocker ONLY sets Media Volume in this ROM. Go to Settings->Sound->Volume and manually set volumes up, see if it fixes.
Thanks for the responses guys(or girls...one never knows). Silent mode is definitely turned off and I have also tried to address the issue by going into the volume settings. I have turned everything all the way up but I still get nothing. I'm gonna restore it to beta 4 and see what's up and then try and reflash 5 again. Wish I knew what was going on but thanks for the input.
Just reflashed to beta 4 and audio worked perfectly. I then reinstalled beta 5.1 and the audio disappeared again. Am I the only one?

I am actually still using beta 5, not beta 5.1, so not sure if something changed when Gojimi updated it this morning?
A quick suggestion - can you try first backing up everything in Clockwork Mod, then wiping user data and see if it makes a difference (i.e. if audio is still screwed up on a fresh install of beta 5.1).
Sound is fine for me in 5.1. All he changed was the G sensor stuff...
Backed it up, wiped user data, did a fresh install and still nothing. Maybe it is specific to my device(although I could not understand for the life of me why). Sad...I am loving VEGAn especially this newest update. I guess I will just wait for the next release to see what happens.

If it works in Beta 4, but not 5 maybe download the file again. Besides the G sensor stuff in 5.1 I think Gojimi also uploaded a new file to fix some boot.img size problem. Can't hurt to try the latest if you haven't already...
Did you try the headphone trick? (insert headphone plug into port, then unplug) That was an early issue that was resolved, but maybe it's making a reappearance.
I'm not on 5.1 yet, working on that today.
(btw, when I first read the title, I thought you were trying to do surround sound off your GTab!)
Brilliant! I've spent hours flashing and reflashing trying to get this thing to work and all I needed to do was plug in some headphones and then unplug them! I wish I would have found this out sooner so I wouldn't have wasted everyone's time. Thank You!
P.S.- Yeah I could see how there could be some confusion about title to this post...ha, I'll have to clarify more next time.

Only thing is you should not have to do that anymore. I bet you still have fragments of old roms hanging out. I do not have to do the headphone trick anymore and I am using 5.1. Haven't had to use that trick for a while now.
Whenever I flash something new I always do a factory reset, and a cache wipe. Every now and then I will use Nvflash to restore all the way back to brand new out of the box status. Too much of the old is getting mixed up with the new in a lot of cases causing lots of people to have weird issues that really don't exist.
Makes it hard for a developer to really know what is working and what is broken..
I just installed beta 5.1 and no audio issues, yet. Did you do a data wipe? Maybe there's something in /data causing the issue, that's my only guess.
Data wipes between mods and major updates is always recommended. I know it's a PITN but it can reduce the number of weird issues. I use Titanium Backup religiously.
I have never had to do it before with any older ROMS. I have only been using VEGAn ROMS since beta 3 came out. I also have been doing factory resets, wiping the cache, and repartitioning the sdcard consistently between installs. I might need to use Nvflash just to be safe and install a totally clean version.

I think the framework changed between beta 4 and beta 5. Different stuff. Maybe that's why you have been fortunate until now...
I got No sound too. Plugging in headset makes sound work On headet but when unplugged my sound is gone again. was working perfect on Beta 4.
Just flashed to Vegan Beta5 2 hours ago. My audio is working fine. Playing "Hall of the Mountain King" atm from speakers.
I update Vegan-tab 5.1 and the sound was working, i watched couple of movies, and today evening no sound, tried in setup and no sound.
I was turning sound off/on from the screen unlock, window, by swipe down the speaker icon. Now i have no sound.
I don't know what i did to make the sound goaway.
Update: now i got the sound back, don't know how i got back since i did all the tricks said in this forum.
1. did the settings->volume-> changed all 3 volume increase.
2. reboot may times.
don;t remember the order. so don't know which one cleared it.
So far I have not run into the no sound problem with b5.1. I sure hope it doesn't crop up because I leave today for a week long trip.
Last night i had installed FRING and Yahoo Instant Messenger, with the Voice/video add-on. And my media volume was muted, couldn't get it to go up. Even when going into setting, and increasing it, it wouldn't increase. I uninstalled those programs and it started working again after a reboot. Running VEGAN 5.2.

Bluetooth Not Working Correctly - CM10

Hi there,
i tried searching and couldn't find an answer/solution for my problem so im going to post a new thread,
my s3 wont stream to my Bluetooth headphones (Jabra blue-tooth sport) correctly (it cuts in and out all the time) ever since i went away from stock Samsung ROM to CM10, i originally went to CM10.1 but went back to 10 in an effort to see if blue-tooth would work, it doesn't work on either of the builds, i have tried editing the audio conf file and no luck has been had.
Is there any fix for this or do i simply have to go back to stock rom or CM9 for now, i really cant stand touch-wiz but i need blue-tooth headphones for my workouts
any help is much appreciated!
Flash a stock is rom. Boot in and turn on blue tooth. Wait a few seconds. Reflash jb rom and it may now be fixed. I doing this sorted issues I had with BT and my car.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Flashing any touchwiz ICS rom and turning bluetooth on will fix this. You can even backup your current Rom, flash stock ICS over and restore the CM backup.
You'll probably notice the default name for your phone is "BlueZ" and after you do this it will change to "GT-i9300"

Chameleon Os v.8 Bluetooth won't turn on

Hey everyone-I need some help. I am not new to android or even this forum (I forgot my user name from a previous account so I created a new one). Anyways, I can't post in ChameleonOs's topic so I figured i'd try my luck here. I had put v .8 on my phone and played with it for a while. Very nice rom and layout but when I try to turn Bluetooth on via just hitting the button in the drop down or even in settings it just will not turn on. I watch it turn itself back off. The Bluetooth icon won't even show up at the top, I'll flick it on, it'll flick itself right off almost instantly.
Anyone know of any solution. I know it's a work in progress rom but I thought it had worked the last time I flashed it but I was trying other roms out too (CM 10.2 nightlies for example) but it just doesn't work on my phone at least. I switched back to the nightlies because I stream music to my car and Bluetooth is very important to me because I love music.
Reason I like ChameleonOS is because of the theme manager they have within the rom, well and the messaging app is pretty slick too. Hope someone can help me out..I seen Trekken was stopping development for the time being (hate to hear but totally understand). Thanks in advance!
He's still working on it as of 2 minutes ago when I was talking to him in hangouts. :good:

Ok cool, I didn't know if it had worked or not but thank you so very much for the update. I'll keep an eye on that thread for further updates or if you hear of anything first I'll check this one out too.
So I noticed he had uploaded an updated rom on his thread. I flashed that and I still have bluetooth shutting itself off. I noticed someone had said their Wifi don't work but mine does. I don't know if it is my phone personally. I am running baseband MDK and everything seems to be correct in the about phone section...just driving me nuts that bluetooth acting weird. Maybe I missed something? I love this rom just can't figure out what is going on

[Q] Omega 50.1 rom question

Hey guys, i'm new as far as posting on the forum is, but i have been flashing ROMs for quite a while now. Now, i have a peculiar problem that should probably be shared on Omega ROM thread, but as a newbie i can't post there, so i'll try here...
I started having problems as soon as i flashed Omega 50.1, when in call, and putting that person on the speaker, as i often like to do. Usually, it doesn't take more then 20 seconds to lose the connection, and both me and the called person get the squelchy noise. Now, when i flash the ROM it works perfectly, so i figured it had to be a Modem, one of Mods i'm using, or perhaps the Moto theme. After flashing (full wipe) several modems and Moto theme, everything was fine. Moving on, as I use a few Mods that can be downloaded for the ROM, and after installing and testing each and every one of them, it seems that when i install Modded Camera 1.52 the problem with speaker noise comes to life. So when modded camera installed, you can't put a caller or a person you called on a speaker without losing the connection and getting weird noise out of speakers.
Having this in mind, can someone try to replicate the problem, cause to me it really seems it might be a bug.

first thing never flash more than one mod at a time. Always reboot when you flash any mod. Now what you have to take out the camera.apk from the omega rom zip file and put it in your preload/symlink/system/app by replacing the modded camera then set oermission and reboot. Hope it works otherwise reflash the rom again.
Good luck
