[Q] Jelly Bean , ICS dont have sound. - HTC Amaze 4G

Hy!
I have Amaze 4G with S-OFF, Unlocked, CWM.
After i install jelly custom rom(CM10 nightly, Infusion, etc... with faux kernel), every thing work fine but dont have sound(ringtone, media sound, etc..). But i go back GB Rom (Speedrun 1.0.0.) everey things works good and have sound.
(Sorry my english is not so good)
Anyone can help me?
Thx.

Sounds like you need to flash the ICS ruu
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

There are many factors that could be affecting the lack of sound. The CM10 ROM is probably not the issue. I had some weird issues initially going from ICS to JB, so to troubleshoot I would check the following:
-Verify md5 on the CM file you downloaded
-Optional, but highly recommended - ditch CWM and go with 4EXT
-Backup all data and format your internal SD (system, data, boot, cache, dalvik)
-Do not restore any of the old ICS stuff
By doing the above, you guarantee that you have done everything correct from an install standpoint. Good luck!

[Q] Installing custom ROM, Batista70 FoxHound keeps rebooting after install

Hi,
So i have been trying out ics since it came out, but thought i would try out some custom roms since they come with nice tweaking and stuff. Not sure what rom to try, but decided with FoxHound, since it seemed a bit neat!
But when i tryed to install it everything seemed good, and it said it was finished and i restartet. Then it just keeps restarting, so now im back to ics..
Do i perhaps need to have the official firmware its based on?
"-Based on the latest official firmware 2.3.6 XWKL1 WIPE"
Did you do these prior to installing Batista70?
Wipe Data
Wipe Cache
Wipe System (IMPORTANT)
Wipe Dalvik Cache
I see, thank! Now trying out WickedROM hehe. Is it kept up to date? want a room that does hehe
Well, I use WickedROM because of the lack of the fake ICS-looks most ROMs automatically come with nowadays. Also I need the stock TouchWiz functions including the Camera, motion sensor in browser and Gallery app. I installed the plain theme and it makes the phone look great.
This ROM is great when it comes to stableness, and it runs on the latest XWKL1 1.3.6, so yes it is updated.
And yeah, I read the email notification and before you edited your post, you asked about how to Wipe System. For the people out there, you wipe the system by going into Mounts/Storage in CWM and click Format /system.
@nicholaschum
By formatting system, the internal storage contents are erased or what? Sorry for the noob question.and is this step mandatory, since i have noticed that most roms dev ask to carry out only 3 steps (Wipe data,Wipe cache,Wipe Delvik cache). When do we actually need to do Wipe system.
When I said wipe system, it wipes the device of any ROMs installed, so you guarantee a fresh and clean install.

Thanks for the reply.
sorry for not being clear last time. What i want to know is that, if i want to completely clean my phone, before flashing a custom rom, then do i need to do wipe system?
Because i have noticed that, even after doing wipe data, wipe cache and wipe delvik cache......... the app folders(like go launcher,go sms, etc) are still present in internal card.
will root also be removed if i wipe system
I been growing to like alle the new changes in ICS while i have used it and i couple of future i miss after i changed to WickedROM. Whats better with samsungs TouchWiz than Wicked uses?
And yea, i noticed it was updated to todays state of the art, but do you know if the devs are continous updating at new releases as when ics come i want it badly hehe
I like the new ICS functions too, but I would never sacrifice stability for a cool looking ROM.
WickedROM is like a slimmed down stock Samsung TouchWiz ROM, with full functionality of Stock AND Rooting (deodex/zipaligning,etc.) as well as some kernel and battery tweaks.
ICS will release soon, but right now it is in beta so I wouldn't install them again.
---------- Post added at 11:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:14 AM ----------
@basil_771
internal is /emmc, and not /system.
wiping /system ONLY removes the ROM and whatever is installed into the ROM.
wiping /emmc means you remove all folders on your internal SD card (16GB)
Oh great, thanks for the info dude..
Hmm true that Thanks for all the info! You have been great haha

CM9, Wnamlite, Siyah Kernel Root nightmare

Hi all,
Was running CM9 rc1 with no problems then upgraded to RC2 then to CM9 nightly 20120804. Installed Siyah Kernel by flashing in CWM recovery and added a second ROM (winamlite). Now superuser says it is denied superuser permissions in CM9. It works fine in Winamlite though.
I have tried reflashing CM9 nightly which reinstalled the CM kernel which didn't help and then reflashed siyah kernel. Still no luck. Read quite a few posts and tried a lot but nothing does the trick (flashed latest superuser from CWM, wiped superuser data, tried to install root from within extweaks).
Can someone point me in the right direction to sort this please?
Thanks,
Max

Wipe cm9 completely, flash it again, flash Siyah kernel on cm9, and flash the same siyah zip for wanamlite
Try it and it should be working, I did something like this when I had this problem

Do you mean factory wipe data/reset? Thought this might be the case and was trying to avoid it as had just got the phone set up how I want it. Saying that I am going to upgrade to the stable CM9 so now's as good a time as any.
If I am going to go through with this, is there a way to completely wipe ALL data from my phone? Everything from photos, emails, old app data etc. I have done a factory wipe before but it seemed to leave some files and folders on the phone. (or maybe my memory is failing me).
Looks like I have my weekend planned out for me then. If only the sun would bu99er off and let me geek out without the guilt...
Thanks for the help.
p.s. Sorry for posting this thread in the wrong place MODs and thanks for moving it.

So you wanna wipe your sdcard too? It's not necessary though it's of course possible. You gotta reboot in to recovery, wipe data/factory reset, go to mounts and storage, format /system, if you wanna wipe your sdcard, you click on Mount /sdcard and then click on format /sdcard.
After all that is done, now go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache and wipe battery stats.
Now your phone is completely wiped. Actually, wanamlite ROM would still stay. Like you said before, you've lost the ability to dual boot. That means that your kernel changed from siyah to cm9. To remove wanamlite too, you need to get siyah kernel (this can be done before doing the above or after doing the above) and then you need to boot in to recovery, dual boot options, remove 2nd ROM
Sent from my S II Monster
If you format /sdcard, 2nd ROM will not work since there are no data and cache images.
If you install WanamLite zip through dual-boot options, it will prevent from installing other kernel.
About wiping /data. After wiping, those folders will be created always when Android is running, cause they're necessary.

Yeah I totally forgot to tell him that 2nd ROM won't be there if he wipes sdcard.
However, wiping /data will wipe the folders and again create the folders. It's true but the new folders won't have stuff from the previous ROM. So it's recommended when flashing a new ROM. Correct me if I'm wrong.

[Q] Randaom ICS wifi issue

I've tried several times to install the custom ICS ( [ROM] CM9 / LiquidSmooth / AOKP / Random ICS ), but WiFi is not coming on.
Any ideas how to resolve this?
Better yet, I am trying to flash the latest ICS ROM to my thunderbolt that is stable.
Seems most have some sort of reboot problem
So far I have tried all the Liquid Smooth - very nice ROMs but get random reboot
PS
From about phone, I see the following
Mode version: liquid mecha.mr3.100212
Build number: Liquid ICS v1.5MR3-JMOD
Radio: 2.00.00.0308, 0.02.00.0312r

No problem, hope you enjoy.
There's also a DeSensed version, called UnSense, which you likely saw as well.
See ya around that way.
Yes, I saw it and am trying to learn the differences between these 2 ROMs - so far better battery life stands out
Looks like I will be spending a lot more time there.
By the way, I was looking at your ext4 instructions (re-printed below for clarity - hope you don't mind)
Select Wipe/Format Menu Option
Wipe cache and dalvik
In the same Wipe/Format Menu: Wipe all partitions except SD
Now back in 4ext main menu: Select Tools
Select Format ext3 option I chose ext4 instead of ext3
Format Cache
Format Data
Format System
Now go back to the main menu and select the rom .zip to install
I chose ext4 instead of ext3 - could this be the cause of my random reboots using Liquid Smooth ICS ROM?
When I flash your ROM, I will choose to format ext3 - just to be sure (heh heh heh)

You can't use ext4 file system with nusense or unsense yet because the kernel doesn't support it. The random reboots with twisted ics could be related but I can't be sure since I haven't used it in a while.

I tried the nusense ROM and formatted using ext3
Am still getting WiFi to drop randomly
At times it turns itself off - when it does that I see "out of range'.
Google Market changed to "Google Play", and most of the times that process stops working and prevent me from installing my apps
WiFi turns off and prevent update from Google Play as well - since I have it setup to update over WiFi
Also, am getting lots of process is not responding messages like "process.com.android.phone is not responding"
I get these messages very frequently.
I may go back to using LiquidSmooth ICS8 mr3v1
Are you sure you formatted all the partitions in ext3? The only way I get those messages are when I don't format properly. Also, maybe try clearing cache and data in the phone app and as for the market trying clearing data and cache. It may not hurt to run a fix permissions in the recovery. Does you wifi problem only happen with ics roms?
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
If you do not format all partitions in ext3 format, you will have issues.
If you are not waiting until after the initial setup to sign into the market, that is likely an issue.
You need to wait until the home screen has set up and the device settles.
Then reboot, wait a minute and then sign into the market.
In my FAQ, you will see, the Market is the Play Store, no difference, just themed.
It has updated since the rom's last update and will do so when you sign in.
It's just an incremental update, but the theme goes away that I included for it an so does the custom icon and "Market" name.
If you do the above and still have issues, clearing the market (Play Store) app data and cache should sort you out.
If you are restoring data from another rom, then that is why you are also having force closes or wifi issues.
You cannot restore wifi data from an AOSP based rom that uses a GB kernel and expect that the same config will work well with the ICS rom and kernel.

Yes, I am sure I formatted the partition in ext3
I cleared data, davlik factory reset etc
The only thing I did not do was "fix permission"
After installing all my apps, I booted to recovery and did the swipe thing again
Yes, my WiFi issue is only with ICS ROM, specifically this one (during and after setup)
So far the LiquidSmooth ICS 1.5 MR3 is working the best for me.
No WiFi issues at all, but I still do get occasional reboots.

Yes Sir, I did all that
I really appreciate all your efforts and your replies both to you and to Santod, I really, really do!
At this time, I resign myself to the fact that some of these ICS ROMs are not yet in their final stages and will wait patiently.
A huge Thanks for the great work to all developers, busting their humps to get this done.
I'm back baby
A funny thing happened to me yesterday, and I'm still laughing
Previously, I mentioned that I was tempted to downgrade my radio, but decided to go back to Liquid ICS v1.5MR3V1
So far I was still getting random reboots - way too many for my taste.
After reading numerous posting, I decided to roll back my radio from 2.00.00.0308, 0.02.00.0312r to 1.49.00.0406w_1,0.01.79.0331w_1.
But, in doing so, I accidentally installed the leaked ICS ROM instead (2.11.605.19).
So I thought I was downgrading my radio, but ended up installing the leaked ROM
Incidentally, I also un-rooted my T-bolt - Thanks to the new tool I was able to quickly root it back.
Luckily, I also backed up the previous ROM, and was able to restore it.
All in the sudden, my T-bolt is back - everything is working fine and no more reboots :victory:
To Recap, after downgrading my radio to the leaked radio 1.49, all is well again .
My T-bolt is running so good that I am hesitant to load the latest ROMs.
My choices are the nuSense beta 17.2 or AOSP 4.0.4 ICS [Multi-Source]
Is it a wise decision to upgrade or should I stay put
That updated nusense is amazing but I wouldn't run it with the full leaked radios. I use the combo of the. 19/leaked radios and they work great.

Sounds like I need to give the NuSenseROM a try, but ....
1) what's so amazing about it, and how does it differ from what I'm currently using (where can I get screenshots)
a) I know its been reworked - but that's over my head (for now)
2) I am not entirely sure what the combo 19/leaked radio is, is it this ".19 cdma and the ICS LTE radio" posted by Santod?
Thanking you in advance.
1) Basically everything works the way it was intended to. Camcorder included. Only drawback is battery is slightly worse than Twisted's build.
A) He rebased the rom using the official Droid Incredible 2 ota which is a better base since the original base was from the leak that sucked balls big time.
2) Yes
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
I now have the NuSenseROM installed - so far so good.
No reboots yet and I am still using the 1.49.00.0406w_1,0.01.79.0331w_1 radio
The ROM is nearly flawless, but I wish it had the phone dialer interface, and the people interface of the Liquid Smooth ROM
I love the fact the camcorder works, but I wish it also had the ICS camera (But I can download it).
I am using Go SMS Pro, and this ROM is not linking my accounts pictures there (bummer)
The Liquid Smooth ROM showed my accounts picture on that app.
I am using and synchronizing my Google, Verizon, Facebook, and Voxer accounts

Best way to upgrade SGS3 from CM 10 to CM 10.1

Should I just do a backup, and install CM 10.1 OTA through my phone, then install GApps, and then install things I like (Such as Custom Kernel and JustUnBean Themed Gapps) as I normally do when updating my ROM?
Or should some extra steps/wipes/etc be taken when going from CM 10 to CM 10.1?
Thanks,

You can do that, but the best way would be to clean install. Backup all your non-Google data like SMS etc, which don't get backed up to Google automatically, then full wipe, flash ROM, gapps and other mods, then setup your phone again.

Always backup. I don't know how much has changed in the cyanogen versions, but i'd ask what advice they offer. Likely, since it is just a .1 version bump, you do not need a clean install. I'd probably just wipe cache and dalvik, no factory reset.

Flashing "Aviator CM11" on stock partition. Comfirmed. Gain storage space

Okay, complete re-write...
For MY guide (The point is, this is not all inclusive, nor does it dictate that its the only way... but if you want help on this thread....)
USE safestrap 3.65 (no exceptions)
USE kitkat 4.4 (no exceptions)
YOU MUST WIPE EVERYTHING - Use the Advanced button, in the wipe menu... Thats what its for... Advanced stuff... Like flashing over STOCK... (Its best to copy all your NEEDED data (Don't just copy everything), PLEASE DO NOT COPY /DATA /ANDROID/ /.SECURE ECT ONLY what YOU recognize
Please make sure ALL APPS work before using apps2sd /mounts2sd. (This means literally testing each app, one by one. In your app drawer. You'd be surprised how much doesn't work when not wiped/flashed properly (And sometimes even when done right)
Boot into recovery
Select "Boot options"
Select "Stock ROM"
Select "Wipe"
Select "Advanced Wipe"
Check mark every single box you see! (I mean it) (I hope you already went through your internal and external sd card and copied your pictures, music, videos, emails, texts, downloads, ect somewhere safe. NOT ON THE PHONE...
"Swipe to Wipe"
Select "Install"
Find and Select your flashable rom .zip
Select Add More Zips
Find and Select your flashable gapps .zip
"Swipe to Confirm Flash"
"Wipe Dalvik Cache"
"Reboot"
I would just like to confirm that flashing "Aviator CM11" on the stock partition does work and boots without problems.

So... I originally maxed out my space when creating a slot for my rom to fit in, which left me about 500mb for my internal sdcard. Using mounts2sd or other internal/external sd swaps gave me trouble one way or another (Camera refused to record to sd, so I would get interrupted during hd recording ect.). So I dived in and just erased all my slots, and installed my rom on the stock slot.

I did not wipe system. Only did a davilik/cache/data wipe. Installed Aviator CM11 on top. Rebooted. confirmed it works. Then installed JBX kernel. Which also worked just fine.

Hey, will this methos work for GSM RAZR XT910?
For all: Flashing a Kexec Rom to stock system works fine whether with latest SS or with BMM! The stock system is working faster than any virtual slots, there's no "disk emulation". I am not sure about one thing: In theory the stock system could use less power than virtual slots - thos of you who ever installed Linux Mint near their Windows installation (Installation from Windows), where a virtual hdd disk image partition is being created. When installation Linux Mint this way the suspend mode is not available as usual. Maybe it works the same way on our phones?
I have been using Mokee on my stock slot for weeks now. Very stable, everything works (except HDMI because of source), and battery is pretty decent. I'm using SS 3.65, flashing to stock is painless, and I believe all Roms posted here are kexec based. I have used gummy, cm, mokee and slim on stock slot. But where can the "Aviator" Roms be found?

There is another forum located here: http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/forum/156-vzw-droid-razr-roms-xt912/
There are some of the older Blur based ROMs, and the newer Aviator ROMs as well. Aviator has a Gummy, and a CM11 version. They tweak those ROMs with a few things and work well.
I have also installed KitKat Roms on the stock partion, which I started doing to free up room on phone. I also ran into the same issue trying to install one app ("can not install on USB or SD Card") and gplay subsequently gave a refund after going through their support system.
I tried JB Rom on stock partion but the install failed. BUT - I installed it on rom slot 1 and created a backup and the "recovered" that backup on the stock slot and it worked.
The aviator roms on http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/forum/156-vzw-droid-razr-roms-xt912/ are pretty good. Running the aviator gummy (my current favorite) right now - early Jan version as the camera did not work on later Jan version - might be fixed now - haven't checked in a week.
What is the CORRECT WAY to install any custom ROM on the STOCK SLOT?
For example:
I was using SS 6.15
SLOT: STOCK ---- ROGERS CANADA JB STOCK ROM 4.12
SLOT: 1 ---- SLIMKAT 2.4
RIGHT Now I´ve installed:
SLOT: STOCK ---- SLIMKAT 2.5 RC1 (over the ROGERS CANADA JB STOCK ROM 4.12 )
SLOT: 1 ---- SLIMKAT 2.4
SLOT: STock is not working properly. Camera, browser, quick settings are not working.
SHOULD I enter SS 6.15, WIPE EVERYTHING on SLOT STOCK (DATA, SYSTEM,CACHE,DALVIK,etc) and re - FLASH SlimKAT 2.5 RC1 on SLOT STOCK??
Question here:
I am wanting to flash a custom 4.1.2 Rom on my stockside. Is this possible with SS?
Is it only possible with KK ROms?
Right now I have a modified latest .165 OTA running and nothing on my slots for SS.

I have also installed KitKat Roms on the stock partion, which I started doing to free up room on phone. I also ran into the same issue trying to install one app ("can not install on USB or SD Card") and gplay subsequently gave a refund after going through their support system.

Using file manager, go to internal storage, go into data/data and delete the offending apps. This is caused by left over files from a previous installation of that app. The hard way, but for sure way, is to wipe EVERYTHING. (internal storage)
The proper way, at least for me, to install on stock slot, is to:
Pull out my external SD card. Goto wipe, click advanced wipe, check everything. Wipe.
Then flash your custom rom, and don't forget your gapps if you use them. Reboot.

Question here:
I am wanting to flash a custom 4.1.2 Rom on my stockside. Is this possible with SS?
Is it only possible with KK ROms?
Right now I have a modified latest .165 OTA running and nothing on my slots for SS.

Yes, for the least amount of possible issues, use SS 1.65, and use a jb+ kexec rom. (4.1.2 should be fine)

I would say definitely try wiping everything to resolve the issues. That's always good for all ROM's if you're going from one ROM to a completely different one. About the only time I will dirty flash is if I'm just updating the current system I'm running. Even then I've had minor problems.

For example i want to flash slimkat to my stock partition using safestrap 3.65 for umts spyder, to flash it correctly i have only to do a wipe data/cache/dalvik cache? and then flash it over stock 4.1(which i'm currently running)?? or do i have to perform a format system/data/cache also? thanks in advance...
Yes, I would say you're going to have to wipe everything, being that Kit Kat and Jelly Bean are going to have two different types of system data. They will DEFINITELY conflict with each other if you don't do a full wipe.

Also, not very sharp with JBX. Is itdiffcult to install? can u point me in the right direction.
Boot up on kitkat slot1 is sooooooooooooooooooo slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. would like to try it as primary. Any help is appreciated.

Hey, I rewrote my guide for flashing on stock.
YES!!! Put that bad boy on stock and watch yourself cry out of sheer joy.. as if you got a new phone!
YES!!! Boot time is so much faster for stock slot than any other slot!!
Jbx kernel is easy to install. Google "xt912 jbx xda" and the guide will be there. Just download and go to safestrap and install it. Its a zip like everything else. Also check mark the moto x camera when the options pop up. 1080p almost 100% stock camera. (Only missing steady hand feature)
Just one thing.... Disabling core 1 of the cpu causes the phone to become incredibly more responsive... so not only is core 1 wasting my battery, its also slowing down the damn phone!!! EDIT: Using the built in CPU turner, and setting to performance finally fixed it for me.
if i wipe everything should't that wipe my intenal memory which contains the rom i want to flash?? i was lost at that part, where should i put the rom and gapps before flashing?
