Hi everyone,
I have an S2 phone international edition. I made a stupid error of installing clockworkmod on my phone before extracting my photos and music. Now the phone is stuck in boot loop animation. I tried flashing other roms, like cyanogen - same thing, stuck in bootloop. My cwm is 6.0.1.2. The phone can boot into recovery just fine. I backed up my contacts to an sdcard, but I need to get my photos out before doing a factory reset. So now I need to mount the internal storage on my PC via usb and drag out these pictures. The cwm usb mount is not recognised by my computer, but the pc does see the device. I have tried installing kies for drivers - same thing. Can someone advice me on an external way to unblock phone internal memory and mount it on pc? I heard there are ADW browsers, but I don't know how to input commands in them. Thanks for any help offered.
PS: Perhaps there is a way to remove the cwm without wiping all data?
factory reset will not wipe your photos, music, docs etc... so dont worry

But just to clarify, the pictures are stored on internal memory. Will they remain safe after doing a wipe data?
yes all int sd and ext sd stuff will be as it is...
and did you wipe delvik cache & cache???

you will lose only apps, sms, call logs... you may take backup from recovery also

So after wiping and hopefully installing a new rom successfully - how do i recover calls, sms and contacts backed up to cwm?

You can't. Call logs, sms text messages and apps+data which you haven't backed up with Titanium Backup are lost.
Try to do a full wipe, and then flash a new rom. Pictures, documents etc. will not be touched.

Hi,
I have installed/uninstalled/flashed/reflashed lots of roms/apps... and it has come to a point where I already know the type of apps that I normally use.. i found out that there are some folders that stays in my SD card even if I uninstalled apps..
So my question is, i have done a CWM back-up long before I did all those stuff (above).. so if I just delete all of my files and folders from my SD Card except for the clockworkmod folder, can I still restore my cwm back-up (which is as clean as far as I remember) successfully? or would my restore process break?
or is there a better way to clean up unused folders from my SD Card?
Thanks...

Don't worry that's why it calls backup. Copy the clockworkmod to computer and format it. Then copy that file to sd and backup.

Titanium Backup the things you want
then connect your phone with usb to pc then take out the titanium backup folder into your pc desktop
then delete all the files present at your sd card
and then place your titanium backup folder back into it, then you could just restore the apps you want via titanium backup..
if this is what you want ...
I think with Titanium Backup is the most secure and clean you can do. I have also thought about doing a cleanup in my sd, I do not because it is a lot of work xD
For cleaning up you can use SD Maid, too
U surely can restore if u only have CWM folder. U can do a thing to clean up ur sd card(if imnt too junior to give u advice ). next time when u flash a rom make backup of the music/pictures into ur pc.then reboot into CWM & format sd from there.then copy the rom in ur sd via memory card reader then re-insert it & flash the rom. I do it to keep it clean

if we use TB,inthe option of backuping, we backup the "app+data", or just the "Data" instead?

a couple weeks ago.. i already backup my stock rom via cwm, and now ive change it with custom rom [HyperbeamCream].
my confuse is...
if i backup again, it means my stockrom backup will be missing.
and...
1. after i clean up or formating my sdcard (b4 that,i move my cwm folder 1st to PC ofcourse).
2. i put back again my cwm folder to sdcard,
3. get in into cwm recovery,
4. and restore.
are my step is correct??

App plus data, without the data, your app will be like a new installed app, like the your login info has to be typed in again
And if you do another backup via CWM, you stock rom backup will still be there. and there will be two options to choose from when your restoring.

I just create a flashable zip of all the apps that i use using this method and flash it via recovery. this takes very less time compared to TB restore. But the only problem is u cant restore data
Simple solution backup data with Tb and do Nandroid backup....
Copy the recovery folder and TB folder..
Format ur SD...
Do a nandroid backup and backup data with TB if data files are not present..
Voila ur done:good:
My phone keeps telling me there's no enough storage memory available eventhough I have almost 3gb free on my /sdcard partition.
Tryed Sammy roms, CM roms, changed bootloader, tryed remounting the /data and /system partitions as R/W with no effect... even tryed "e2fsck" command on ADB to check on my partitions for bad sectors or errors, it just told me that the partitions are clean...
Running out of choices, I'm thinking about reverting the whole phone to "Factory State" but the "hotfile.com" file for the factory reset is just slow to load and not even Resumable and I'm suffering from internet sudden disconnections.. so.... any suggestins?? :crying: :crying:

have you formatted the internal storage completely?? This should not happen even after flashing new firmware and after factory resetting..
No, didn't format the internal storage, I'm making space on my laptop to backup my media on it and then I'll probably format the internal storage
Problem solved, done a full wipe, formated the internal storage, and everything is alright now :/
I think I have the same problem. Do you need to have a pc to format the internal or can you do it using can touch? Any help with the steps you did would be a great help.
My issue came after flashing pacman rom. A format should fix it just never done it on the internal don't want to mess it up.
My I9300 has 32gb internal and 21gb is used up by system data.??

Sorry for being late, mate!! well, after all the mess I've been through, the only solution was to copy all my files to my laptop, then a CWM-recovery format (yes I formatted through CWM-Recovery, no need for a PC to format and I don't even know how to format an MTP-device storage ) but you have to know how to push files through ADB to push the ROM's CWM-zip if you want to install a new ROM! Tutorials about how to push files through ADB are everywhere and are really easy to understand!
I hope this will help you out! make me know if you want some deeper explications
Can I install CyanogenMod with Odin?,I have got files but CyanogenMod is in .zip file but Odin3 doesn't accept .zip Can I change .zip to .tar
Can't recall that you can flash ZIP's tru ODIN, you should flash a recovery / boot file trough ODIN, then copy your ROM to your SDCARD or Internal Memory and boot into recovery, where you can flash .zip files (like Roms)....
To convert your .img files to tar.md5 (ODIN compatible) go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446269 and follow the thread steps.

Now I have got Another Problem.I use TWRP recovery to install CyanogenMod but when i want to wipe there is two data options.Last Time I Selected two of these and i deleted Internal Storage + CyanogenMod's file + Android.I don't want to brick my phone again
WIpe only these : Dalvik-cache, Cache, Data, and System
Don't wipe or format: Boot, Recovery or Internal / External Memory.

The Internal Storage wipe option wiped your ROM file btw, just so you understand, the Internal Storage actually goes back to factory and deletes everything which wasn't there when you bought it.

Hmm that's awkward... Wait a sec plz, you can choose the dalvik cache, cache and system allready. After that imma tell you which data should be chosen to wipe too
---------- Post added at 12:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:35 AM ----------
Ok so it should only be the first Data, button, the fourth is internal storage, which shouldn't be wiped
As shown here http://cdn.droidviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/nexus-5-twrp-wipe-options.jpg
Ok I am started to wipe
Thank You Very Much!My Problem is solved
Hey, I got a problem with my Galaxy S2. When i want to start it, it lags on Samsung logo. I think, that only way out is wipe data/factory reset (wipe cache didn´t work) but I have some photos and sound records that I haven´t in PC. Do you know any ROM (that I can download and flash with Odin), which doesn´t erase my data if I do wipe? Thanks and sorry for my English
Factory reset clears the system partition. It doesn't formats the storage partition. I've done a lot of factory reset (with CWM, TWRP, and CM recovery), and my data were always left in place.
As I've read you should be able to flash any rom which only has 1 part (pda) without deleting your flash memory.
Besides that, as MbMax already mentioned, factory reset won't touch your media.
Thank you very much.
So If I do factory reset through Recovery menu, my photos and documents will be still in the phone but messages, contacts etc. will be erased.. or not? But I´m not talking about SD card, i have those photos right in the phone storage. Android 4.0.3.

Or more accurately, it wipes the partition that contains all app data, settings data, messages, contacts and etc (data partition, not system). Therefore you will still have your personal files on your internal storage.

Look above. To backup contacts, I use Google to restore them, or you can backup on sim card. For messages, you can back them up onto your sim card in the messages app, however you can't back up mms.
Let me say i think i have messed up stuff, i want to dirty flash miui rom but with wiping all everything besides data and internal and external, what partitions should i wipe? twrp screenshot would be nice

And other then that you can wipe cache, dalvik cache and data partition.
Data partition wipe will wipe your apps and app data. Nothing else on internal will be deleted
