Don't disconnect your phone it will reboot a couple times make sure you have a full battery to be safe
1. Get your drivers (i use "pdanet" to get my drivers)
Motorola:https://motorola-global-portal.custh...ail/a_id/88481
PdaNet:http://junefabrics.com/android/download.php
2. Enable USB debugging ("Settings"> "Developer options"> Check of "USB debugging" (Under "Debugging" section)
3. Connect your phone to your computer if not connected already
5. Unzip Mattlegroff's "RestoreToot.zip"
6. Run "FixRoot.bat" it should run automatically but you may have to press a key
7. Once your done and it notifies you by saying "0" and some more text
It doesn't always say 0 just FYI... I lost root when I went to JB even after following all the directions to the letter and I ran the tool, did not observe any 0 but downloaded Root Checker from Market and I had full root again.

Make sure you got the drivers and usb debugging is on if they are try this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2101369
Hmm, if you don't get a status 0 and are just going by OTA Rootkeeper then i'd try "su" in terminal emulator just to make sure.
Edit - Dan Rosenberg has found an exploit for JB OTA over at droidrzr
I apologize in advance if this is a noob question but do I need to have Android adb installed on my Mac to use this rooting method? This seems almost too simple to be true. Thanks.

I didn't need adb to get my root, but I'm sure you need mac version 10+ to run the bat

Figured out my Problem Thanks.
For aRoot, I just kept fiddling every day for like 3 days, and it finally worked randomly. Just the combination of debugging and which connection, and the order leading up to it toggled.

Have you enabled usb debugging? Its under settings applications development. did you make sure your phone is set to none under the the usb connection? Lastly did you run the adb prior to the install? Make sure all of those are done...i have limited knowledge myself but hopefully this helps.
Edit: just curious why did you need to flash sbf if you were unable to do anything you mentioned?
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
I have tried fiddling with gingerblur adeo superroot and aroot for days. I even exchanged my phone once and tried it on 3 computers. Still no luck. It has to be something i am missing or doing wrong. Superroot says it is waiting for device then freezes. aRoot and Gingerblur will says "achieving temporary root then scroll through a whole bunch of stuff and then says rebooting." and the phone never does anything at all.

are you sure you are extracting these files out? and not trying to run them from their zip/7z archives?

Yeah, there is something fiddly about achieving root first... once you achieve it, shell root is a breeze.
I had to fiddle with it for a while. Had to do with toggling debugging at the right moment during the root process. Don't remember when, but one of the longer steps. Presumably at or right before it freezes for you. Try toggling off -> on (or on -> off and back).
Connection mode needs to be "None", after you ran through all the connection modes, so your PC has all the necessary drivers installed.
about two weeks ago I rooted my RAZR phone with motofail and it was successful, then I tried to install the blackwidow rom on my phone and I ended up bricking it so I did a factory reset using DroidRAZRutility and it reset my phone to factory as it should, it installed system version 6.12.167 I think so I updated it to v. 6.12.181.XT912 and when I run motofail it says "'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command." the android version I have is 2.3.6, and advice is welcomed, Thank You!
go into your phones settings and make sure debugging is checked, and that your USB setting is "Charge Only"
Yeah I did that like I said I know how to root as I have done it before but after I factory reset my phone after bricking it now it wont let me root.

The 1.7 version is for going to ICS .211, use the 1.6 DRU with full fastboot files to fastboot back to .181 and then use it to root, that's what I did after I bricked from trying to flash a beats audio mod that probably wasn't for this phone, and I was rooted before the brick and DRU 1.6 rooted without issue after the fastboot.
Alright thanks, do you think you can get me a link for download? Ok I downloaded swiftdroid 1.6 and extracted it to my desktop and it is a .img file, what do I do with it now?
Go into settings and enable USB Debugging. That's why it's not recognizing your phone. If it still doesn't recognize it and you have it in charge mode, then you need to install the Moto drivers to your computer.

go here http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/t...612181-fastboot-files/page__hl__ utility 1.6 this is what I used when I bricked mine and could only get into AP fastboot mode, it will wipe all internal memory, only the microSD card will be left alone.
Directions:
1. Boot phone into AP fastboot
2. Launch DroidRazr Utility 1.6 (right-click and choose, RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR)
3. Choose Option #1 and follow onscreen directions
4. After fastboot is finished you will be back to BONE stock
5. Choose Option #2 and follow onscreen directions
6. You should now be rooted.
7. Optional choose option #5 if you want to install Voodoo root keeper to attempt to retain root for the upcoming OTA
Ok I followed the instructiona to a T and when I try to do option 2 it says "the system could not find the path specified!" Im starting to think that I can no longer root my phone for some reason.

You have to unzip the files in the default folder.
These error messages are related to missing files/folders.
Adb is not recognized as command... Means adb.exe is not present in the folder you've extracted the toll.
The system couldn't find the path, means adb isn't enable. Go Config > Developer.. > USB debuging. (If it doesn't work, change your USB port and make sure adb is on)
Use this in command prompt to check:
Code:
adb devices
- This is what you should get:
C:\Users\xxx\Desktop\Razr\tools\adb>adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
0146841894006018 device
Cheers
Ok I get "waiting for device..., daemon not running.starting it now on port 5037, daemon started successfully. and it stays as that!
Okay, just wanted to put this info here for easy reference. Feel free to correct anything I may have wrong.
*Based on my experiences performing the operation on windows 7 x64.
1. Install the LG USB driver for windows found under the software tab from their site here
2. Download and extract the English version of the root optimus g created by fiddy619 from here
3. Set USB debugging on and attach your phone to usb, then put it in MTP/Media Sync mode. Next, open a command prompt and navigate to the "stuff" sub-directory of the extracted file. Run the command "adb devices" to make sure your phone has been detected. Go back to the main directory and run the RootOptimusG.bat file.
4. When prompted on your phone choose restore data. Leave your phone plugged into USB until the program tells you it is finished! Sit back and let the magic happen. Your phone will reboot. Mine acted weird for a few seconds after it rebooted, the buttons at the bottom were going on and off and the screen was flickering. Just be patient and give it a couple minutes if needed.
5. When prompted that all is complete you can disconnect your phone from your computer and open the Play store to get the update for SuperSU
Now you are ready to unlock!
should be a sticky.
Thanks!
I followed the thread to root no fiddy619 instructions. I did use MTP.
But instead of Command prompt, I just double clicked the BAT file. and it run without problems, I think.
I have the SuperSU icon on my phone.
How can i make sure it was rooted?
p.s
The unlock also ran without problems.

well if you have the supersu then it should be rooted. also if you now have it unlocked then it is rooted because i dont think you can unlock unless you root. also please search around the forums about what apps to not remove after root. a lot of people have noted issues after removing google apps.

If that worked for you, I'm happy for you. I am at this time unable to find a way to unroot and then re-root aside from restoring a backup in CWM or flashing a superuser zip in CWM. This could be because of a "bug" in our rooting script, in SuperSU's un-rooting function, or just an incompatibility between the two. Either way, I think this rooting mechanism works for more virgin LGOGs than not.
worked for me, easy peasy.
When i run the script it gives an error saying that i'm missing backup-restore.apk and /system/bin/ric does not exist. Any ideas as to why this is?

That is probably because your phone is not rooted yet. I got that too as I was rooting it. Worked great.
I'm trying to root. USB debugging is on, connected as MTP. Run ADB, run adb-devices, returns an empty screen.
Try to run the script, it tells me "please check setting again"
HALP.

Check your software version. If it ends in 11c then it will not work. You need to LGNPST to version ending in 10o first, then you can root.

Hello,
I tried to root my S4 I545, MK2 with version 4.3 on the Verizon network using the saferoot method however when I go to run the program by pushing any button to continue the black command screen disappears and the program does not run. Anybody else have this problem?
I have Kies 3 loaded and my phone is recognized
I have tried with USB Debugging on and off
I have used the stock cable that came with the phone
I tried on two computers one with vista and windows 7.
Adb recognizes my device using the view device command. I am not sure what else there is to do any suggestions? Am I missing something I thought I followed the instructions pretty good.
Thanks

It seems that something may be missing on your computer that the install.bat file is looking for, causing it to exit.
You might be able to tell what's happening if you start up a command prompt window and run the install.bat from there.
Unzip the saferoot zip file into c:\saferoot\
For windows 7, press the start key and type "cmd" in the "Search programs and files" box. "cmd.exe" should appear. Click on that to open a command prompt.
at the command prompt, type
cd \saferoot\

then press enter.
then type
install.bat

Press enter and the install will run. The window will remain open so you can see whatever error is being emitted.

k1mu,
I think it was operator error on my part. Before I tried your suggestion I re-installed Saferoot to my c:drive opened it up an ran it with no problem.
I don't remember if I did that the first time as I tried to root from two different computers. The first time I tried was on my win 7 computer and I could not get it to run. I then I switch to my Vista system and tried to run Saferoot from that system again with no luck. On the Vista system I tried to save Saferoot to my c:drive and I could not because I got an error that I didn't have admin rights to load the file. At that point I gave up.
What I think happened is I didn't download Saferoot to my c: drive on my win 7 computer and after reading your suggestion I tried again and it worked. So I didn't load from the cmd prompt, I guess I should have mentioned that. Hope I am making sense.
FYI I used the Saferoot file dated 29 Mar 2014 from the Android Development forum. Thanks again!

I've already answered this in the other thread.
Don't open it using your file manager, open it from the downloads folder and it'll install.
