4ext problem - HTC Amaze 4G

I'm trying to flash a custom ROM. I put it on the root of the sd card, but 4ext doesn't show it. There are several zips on the card, but none of them are displayed. The backups are located in external: scard1 , but when I click install zip from sd card, it shows me sdcard0 and only folders. What gives?

Nix this. Found the answer. Mod, please delete this thread.

[Q] Clockwork Mounting / SD card issue

So i seem to have hit a wall here when trying to get a new Whiskey rom... Currently running standard bonix, but looking to get a bit better battery life. Here is the issue.
When I get into clockwork recovery, And I go to install from SD card.... It actually shows the internal memory, and has a folder called "SD" but for some reason it never allows me to select it. It just goes back to the main folder. The log shows its trying to load it from /sdcard/sd... seems like its a mounting issue?
Of course my first attempt trying to install not realizing it was internal had write errors, but luckly I FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS and got to restore a backup.
Anybody seen this issue or can advise on how to correct it?
Update: just confirmed the issue is infact that Clockwork is mounting the internal storage as the SD Card. Removed the SD card, still getting the same results. Unmounting SD card only results in error msg.
bump.... still looking for suggestions
I don't follow, is the.zip on the internal sdcard/ root (no folder)?
Not sure why your sd card would be involved. What am I missing?
perhaps I am confusing terminology? Is 'sdcard/ root' not the same as the SD Card?
No, root means not in a folder. If your zip is not pasted to sdcard/ that is likely the problem.
Ahh gotcha. I understood concept of root folder, but I missread sdcard/ to be the Expandable SD Card, which it was in the root folder of.
:O *Facepalm*

[Q] Why doesn't CWM allow me to mount my sd-ext?

When I boot up into recovery, I can never get my external sd card to mount properly. I can select it but it just goes back to the internal sd card directory as if there's nothing there. I had this issue on my Infuse as well but that had the stock Samsung 2GB sd card in it, I've got an 8GB card now from Patriot. I've formatted it with SDFormatter with no luck.
Does CWM simply not allow you to load your recovery (nandroid) backup files from the external, or ROM installation files, etc.?
Bump... me neither!

I figured out my issue after the fact and forgot about this thread.
I kept thinking that I needed to mount the /emmc to load a .zip but I found out that when I go to load a file, I needed to pick 'choose zip from internal sdcard' at the bottom which actually is not the internal card, but the external sdcard. Yeah that confused me. I can now get into it that way, hopefully you can too.
Also, make sure you only use the Home and Back Arrow softkeys to navigate CWM as this was causing me some issues using the Power key like I was used to.

[Q] backup and restore questions

Howdy,
I searched but couldn't find the answer. I have a 32 gb sd card which I inserted, formatted and mounted into my phone. I can copy and paste files from the phone storage and files to it, and vice versa, but when I backup and restore using clockwork mod, it never gives me a choice to backup to external sd card, or to restore from external sd card.
I've tried everything, but can't get clockwork mod to recognize the external sd card. Any suggestions?
Also, if I try to install a zip file from SD card, Clockwork mod does see the card and the files on it, but it just won't list it as a choice to restore from or to backup to.
AFter a bit thinking about it, I guess my question is whether I can backup and restore directly to and from external sd card, or whether I backup and restore to internal card, and then just copy the file to and from my sd card using file manager or explorer?
backup and restore should by default go to external sd. Which version of cwm do you have?

Root Explorer does see the card, you just need to go to the /mnt folder.
For CWM? You need to actually put the rom on the internal storage. Our version of CWM does not support the external card right now. In the future? Yes, most likely.

Ok thank you very much, I did find the external card on in root explorer. And I will place my roms on the internal sd card.

[Q] CWM Errors?

I think I have the latest cwm installed. its the v5 one, and i can use my external sd card. However my problem is that when i go to make a backup it says no sd card found and then no ext sd card found. but when it finishes the backup it is in fact located on my external sd card, but the file name is weird its not the current date but like some 1970s date.
Anybody else having this as well?
