Hi guys, I'm new to the S3 and having use the S2 for over a year and a half excited about the S3 I just couldn't resist on buying now. On my S2 I've always used the Phenom kernels as they've always been great battery savers but after reading a little bit about some sudden death thing that the phenom kernel doesn't have a fix for I was wondering if it was a wise idea to stay away from flashing phenom? And If so then what kernel would you recommend I flash so I avoid killing my new phone with this sudden death thing?
All the latest custom kernels have the SDS fix. Also flash Philz recovery touch to be realy safe.

I'm sure I read that phenom didn't have this fix, am I wrong about that then?
That is possible mate. I did not use that kernel yet. But siyah, boeffla, perseus and more are safe.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Thanks mate. Which out of those kernels would you recommend? Just basically for battery saving and pre rooted.

I am using Boeffla right now an had good batterylife so far.

I prefer Wanam Lite + stock
I have 64GB SanDisk SDXC card, some kernels can't mount it, i have to manually format it to FAT32, which i don't want to

Now since where on this topic Siyah kernel is really not that good on my galaxy s2 i777 when I try to over clock it to 1.4 it freeze and I have to pull battery and the only stable mode I can get to is 1.3 buy once I do quadrent test its even lower then when I had stock ics kernel I would get 4000 on the scores but now I get less check the pic out its right now over clock to 1.4 and I get around 2400 to 3100
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
That score on the screen shot was from stock ics
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Answer!
whats your point. benchmark scores are placebo.
OCing causes issues. all kernels, frequency's, and so on are all device dependent.
there is no best, better or worst.

Sadly, it is one of the issues we will always have to deal with while the forum is open to new members (not to say the staff still isn't looking at ways to counter it, but we will neevr escape it fully).
With that said, i am going to close this, and STRONGLY encourage the OP search before posting in the future... HINT HINT..

Hello there i was wondering is there any chance of changing the s3 korean firmware to european .
Next week i'm getting a korean s3 but i really want to change the firmware
Now I have a s2 that was 250s and then i changed it to i9100
Well i googled and searched in xda forums but i didn't found anything about it
Is it possible to change the firmware with flashing the korean kernel for it . Or the radio chip stuff is like mars and venus
No, because your phone doesn't have the same hardware with International one.

Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Not much? If you're rooted anyway. Not gonna get updates early if you're branded. But custom roms sort that out.
No noticeable difference when it comes to actual usage

Again a personal question . I used CF-root for stock kernel on my gt-i9100 because syiah , philz seems to lag . Did on my i9300 too . I understand that they have more battery life , but overclocking them leads to fast battery drain , is that right? So i prefer staying stock. Well i don't play with my phone , i play with my gtab 7500 more
If you don't need the extra performance, no need to overclock. I did it for the heck of it then realised I don't actually need it so went back to stock. Overclocking does lead to faster drain but some kernels also provide under volt support so they kind of negate each other in terms of battery.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
So undervolting could save battery in theory? I heard it destroys the battery even the phone in whole .
Heard too much stories of dead phone because of undervolting and overclocking. Because of idiots putting overclocking and undervolting on maximum. But they just dont know what are they doing.
Thanks a lot . Sorry for so much bothering

no need to calibirate then thanks ! In mongolian phone shops we have a chinese battery with more mhA(like+300) and i have tested so far . The charging goes approximatly 6 hours when the original takes 4 can it damage phone particles . I have to assure undervolting goes without problem . From what volt should i start . I m asking because i work in mining geological team and the reason i bought this phone is the gps glonass

I have tried just about every rom there is at the minute but I cant seem to find one that doesn't sap my battery.
I don't even game or watch videos on it I literally just check the internet every now and then yet still I suffer 10% drops for Just using it for 5 or 10 mins at a time.
Could anyone advise me of a ROM without the whistles and bells but is all about battery power?
Thanks for any help,

Settings then apps the go to all the scroll down till you see Google play services and click on it then disable it... Well basically you won't get any push notifications like twitter or snapchat but most apps won't need this but some do so it's not for all people but it saves a lot of ? ? ? ? ? ?

I tried CM11 Nightlies and NeatRom (based on SlimKat). Both are great at battery. Decided to stick with NeatRom because it seems more stable. I'm not using any custom kernel.
The thread states do not ask which rom or kernel is the best. This was a question about which rom has given people decent battery life, not which has the best features or tweaks etc which is obviously all subjective. So to recap, I am actually asking the opposite, not which rom is best, but which has lasting power. Features or no features.
