So basically...
I had originally bought my S2 with Cyanogen Mod 7 with the latest Gingerbread update.
I wanted to try out ICS, so installed a couple of ROMs but didnt like it that much so decided to reinstall the previous CM7 with CheckROM RevoHD V4...
On the first time I bought it and whilst playing around with ROMs battery life was great, but now that I have reverted back, the battery life is obismal.
Last night my battery went from 100% to 25% in about 6 hours of being on, mostly in standy, screen brightness at the lowest setting and hardly any use (kept turning it off to conserve battery)
Whilst my friend who has the same phone, running stock gingerbread was only down to 78% and his phone was on ALL night.
The battery stats show display useage as over 80% for me atm and im really confused, thismorning my phone has been off charge since 11:30 and in 3 hours its already down to 75% whilst idling and texting a couple of times.
Any ideas whats going on?
Install Better Battery Stats, seems like you have wakelocks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Then post up a log of that.
Secondly, what kernel are you using and it's settings?
Xwkk5
2.6.35.7
After installing a beta test rom that is not yet released i would do a full wipe of the phone then install stock rom ..

Do I need to leave it running on battery or what?
Yes. Don't leave it on charge. Charge it fully before you go to bed, leave it running on battery overnight.

Ok, will do.
Ok, so left it on overnight and all day without the charger...
I had the display on lowest setting, and useage was very rare as i didnt wanna risk it dieing on me.
By the end of it, my battery was at 7%...
Time since plugged in - 21hr~
Useage :
Display - 61%
Android OS - 17%
Android System - 8%
Cell Standby - 6%
Phone Idle - 4%
Kik messanger - 2%
Messaging - 2%
Have attached the 4 logs.
What does all of that mean, anything i need to fix?
I am not expert, but it seems that while your phone is left, you have folowing wakelocks:
CommunicatorServiceWakeLock (kik.android.Kik Messenger): 27 m 26 s (1646 s) Count:312 2.2%
FMRadio Service (com.sec.android.app.fm.FM radio): 23 m 7 s (1387 s)
You should stop one of these applications, and than repeat all the process of fully charging the battery. Then look again what is eating our battery.
As I said, am not expert, so maybe I am wrong. But, after using Better Battery Stats, and disabling auto sync, now my battery last like it s not smartpfone. For example, this morning i took it from charger - I had today 15 calls, 7 messages, litle bit use of internet (wifi is turned on non stop,...), no games,... my battery after 14 hours is at 77%.
Kik Messenger seems to be doing something while your phone is supposed to be sleeping. Try uninstalling it, and see if the situation improves.
Right as mentioned above, you have 2 major apps that are cuasing your phone to be kept awake.
Kik messenger & FM radio service, as you can see here:
CommunicatorServiceWakeLock (kik.android.Kik Messenger): 27 m 26 s (1646 s) Count:312 2.2%
FMRadio Service (com.sec.android.app.fm.FM radio): 23 m 7 s (1387 s) Count:1 1.9%
KikNetwork (kik.android.Kik Messenger): 6 m 27 s (387 s) Count:676 0.5%
kik.android (): Wakeups: 580
For Kik either sign out when you are not using it or freeze it with Titanium backup or uninstall it.
I guess you use the radio as well so shouldn't affect it that much.
Not sure if this is also affecting your battery:
com.google.android.apps.maps:MapsBackgroundService (com.google.googlenav.networkinitiated.NetworkInitiatedService)
Active since: 1 d 2 h 29 m 6 s
Last activity: 12 h 57 m 39 s
Crash count:0
Google maps, you can see it's been active for quite a while.
I suggest you grab Gemini app manager from the market, change to advance mode and disable autorun for Maps. So it won't autorun when you start your phone. Also disable any other apps you don't want auto starting.
To sum it up, you've got a smart phone, enjoy it make use of it and remember we can always charge on a nightly basis

hi guys!
i have a problem! lol =p
my battery is crazy, or my phone is crazy and is draining all my battery
it starded some days ago ... i'm using the Internet Browser and (sometimes) it starts to get really hot on the superior part of the phone ... and my battery starts to drain really fast... if i reboot sometimes it gets back to normal, but there are times that the battery goes crazy and happens like the picture below... after that i turned the "battery save" mode of the phone, and the battery percentage increased by 1% even without charging ...
It started to happen even before i updated to ICS, and still happens with the ICS ... any tips??
Use set cpu and check on which frequencies the phone is running
And use BadAssBattery monitor app to see which app is sucking your battery
The huge battery drop is normal and happens on our phone as fuel gauge goes crazy

Try the following:
1. Wipe cache partition (and Dalvik cache) in recovery mode.
2. If that does not help, do a factory reset.
3. If that does not help, flash another ICS ROM. I made good experiences with XWLPD.
4. If that does not help either, examine with BetterBatteryStats (BBS) app what apps are preventing your phone from going into deep sleep.
Partial wakelocks is what you should look at.
Good luck !
I have the same issue with my phone. I tried factory reset and cache reset but my S2 is still running hot and drains battery in 4 hours after charging
I installed go power master and battery are being drained by the following apps
Bluetooth Test
Android System
Google Backup Transport
Keyboard.
I'm running ICS via Samsung Kies.
I9100DXLP7
Kernel 3.0.15
Build IML74K.DXLP7

I have recently flashed 4.1.2 Stock UK non brand and battery Life is horrendous, can you please share with me your mod? These are my details:
Like today, phone on at about 07.00am, now is 10.29 and im down at 35% which is ridiculous with Screen on 1h 29m > 74% as the biggest hog..."always scan for open wifi" was on and i recently disabled it..also, i keep wifi on all the time when i am at work. signal is 100% so shouldnt consume much??
recently tried to disable auto brightness, removed bloatware and few other things...is it the modem sucking too much or what??
4.1.2
Baseband : I9100XXKH3
Kernel : 3.0.31-Siyah-s2-v6.0b4+ [email protected] #57 SMP PREEMPT Wed Dec 26 06:52:48 PST 2012

Hi all,
I have a problem with my galaxy s3. The battery doesn't seem too bad during the day, much the same as my old iPhone. However, overnight it drains crazy fast! Last night for example it went from 65% battery when I went to sleep at 11pm, to 14% at 3am and was dead by 7 this morning.
So it lost 51% of battery in 4 hours of doing nothing....
This is rather annoying. I made sure all my apps were off with task manager before going to bed, the only thing that was set was 1 alarm for 9:20... But the battery never made it that far . Is this a problem with the device itself, or a software issue that maybe I can fix? I don't really want to have to take it back to the shop if at all possible.
Thanks for the help,
Dan
Would be helpful if you post screen shot of your battery usage so we can get a vague idea of what is consuming your battery!
What rom and what kernel are you using?

In my desperation I have done a factory reset, at least this way I can narrow down the potential problems.
The android version is 4.0.4
Kernel is: 3.0.15-928452-user
Has a date of Thu, July 26 12:06:08 KST
Thanks for the help

switch syning off and determine which application is still running in the background, get an application called CPU Spy, its free and works really well, it can monitor if your phone goes into "sleep mode" when idle etc...
Hey guys, I've had some really big problems with my phone on the later time.
When i charge my phone to 100% (turned on or not doesnt matter) then i remove the battery and put it in again after, now i only have 97% and i can continue doing this atleast 10times+ (never tested more).
Also lately my phone has been fcking up for real, my phones screen can random go bananas and then turn off. I start my phone again and have like 1-20% battery left (When i had like 80% before) The battery problem can also be caused by a random freeze where i have to remove the battery and put it back in, aswell here as i wrote before my battery drops to 1-20%.
Is my battery or phone broken? Warranty went out for like 1month ago...
How should i post link of battery history when im under 10 posts?
I'm sorry for the bad english but hopefully you can understand it
Also im happy for answers!

in your own case:
1. Download Siyah 3.5.2 or 4.x.x
2. Flash Siyah kernel
3. Download Extweaks from play store
4. Run Extweaks.
- Under Misc, Reset Fuel-gauge chip
- Allow your battery to discharge to less than 10%
- Fully recharge the battery
done

when phone becomes too hot, battery reading can never be accurate.
In your own case, off your phone, and charge it to 100%
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
I'll try to recharge my phone as switched off and let you know the results. Thanks for the reply.
I tried to recharge when the phone was switched off, 100% charged, but after that battery power ran out quickly. Do I need to replace the battery? Still phone is getting too hot during call and battery charging. I switched off Wifi, 3G etc. But problem is persists.
Since my phone has gone MUCH worse i will buy a new battery tomorrow and hope for it to be that.
Cant really use my phone atm, going down like 30-40 times a day (I'm not kidding) also my network etc has stopped working sometimes but i hope thats cuz the battery cant supply the phone the power needed.
I tell ya guys if its going better after new battery!
Now the phone finally works after replacing the battery!
Few days ago I discovered a huge battery drain on my S3. About 10% per hour. Usually I can manage at least 16-18 hours without charging and this is quite annoying. I also attached screenshots from betterbatterystats and from regular battery settings. I am running CM11 (build Wed Oct 8 00:09:30 PDT 2014).
Any ideas?
EDIT: The phone is also constantly kind of warm and IMO producing heat = using energy.
