Hello,
Can someone please help me out. When I charge my phone using the wall connector (the one which came in the box), it charges REALLY slowly. Like 5-10 percent an hour. Regardless of that, the AC power shows up as connected to USB as you can see in the attachment. Something as simple as texting during charging will drain its battery. Does anyone know what's wrong? It was fine before I flashed a new rom. Supernexus build 5. Even during it, it was fine. I punched in *#*#4636#*#* code and checked the battery health. Completely fine. When I used my brothers Samsung charger, it charges much faster(he has one of those touch screen/keyboard android Samsung phones). Someone please help?

Get rid of the rubbish Samsung supplied charger and use an old S1/2 charger, BlackBerry one's work as well, it's a fault with the Samsung supplied unit.

For some reason, my battery only wants to charge when it's plugged into my computer. If I plug it into the wall, the battery page displays that it's being charged by USB and not by the AC Adapter that came with it. Plus it charges very slowly, even slower than my computer. When I plug it into my car charger, it doesn't charge at all.
Does anyone else have this problem? I'm gonna charge it for a while and try flashing a new ROM, it started happening since I got on a certain nightly update.

I"m having this problem. Read on another forum that several people were experiencing problems with charging. One guy opened up the phone and noticed that a few pins to the usb port on the phone appeared to be burned/corroded. I went to Verizon today and ordered a replacement. I'm not thrilled about the idea of getting a refurbished phone and may just use the purchase protection from my credit card to get a new one. Not sure if it's something that's been fixed or not or if I'll have the same problem with the replacement phone.... keeping my fingers crossed.
Are you still having the problem?
Hello XDA,
I'm not sure how this happened, but for the past couple of months I haven't been able to charge my phone while it is turned on. It shows the charging animation but the battery still drains, even with all radios off and screen off. I can leave it charging all night and end up with a nearly flat battery. Plugging it in to any wall socket seems to only slow the draining, and plugging it in to a fully powered USB socket (many tried) keeps it at the same battery level, or very slowly charges it if I don't use it. If I turn it off however, I can charge it until full in the normal time with the original AC charger.
Here's the really strange part: I've tried several new chargers of different brands including samsung and it makes no difference. Not only that, but they won't charge it when powered off either making them completely ineffective. It doesn't initialize the charge properly - the screen either shows a battery with a progress circle over and over again without getting to the charging animation, or displays the charging animation over and over and never charges at all, but nevertheless gets hot.
The chargers I've tried are:
Cygnet for samsung phones including SGS-II
Belkin for Samsung phones including SGS-II
Premium blackberry travel charger
Premium 10W 2A Samsung travel adaptor
One charger that did seem to work while plugged in was from a new Sony Xperia Windows phone charger I borrowed once.
I've exchanged at the store 3 times now with the same result! It must be something wrong with the hardware or software...
I've calibrated the battery, I've had a new battery for a couple of months and normally still lasts all day and more on a full charge. It is a 3rd party high quality Anker battery. The problem is the battery is getting a lot more taxed now that I'm using 3G over the portable hotspot, so its not quite lasting the day anymore.
I've had countless custom ROMs on there now, current ROM is CyanogenMod 10.1 stable. Would returning to stock then reinstalling help?
Something that shouldn't matter is I've moved from the UK to Australia. I'm still using the English charger as its the only one that works. And the Xperia charger that seemed to work was Australian too.
Before it got this bad I think it was getting slower and slower to charge. I had to replace the old USB cable that eventually got really loose, then broke and i've tried several new ones with no improvement in charging ability. Is it possible that the contacts inside the micro-USB socket might have been bent from the old cable moving around so much so that only minimal contact is achieved with any other cable? The new connectors do seem to fit perfectly.
In the attached screenshot, you will see on the left the AC charger is plugged in while battery level goes down, then on the far right its plugged in to a computer and is kept level.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

IMO, u should revert back to a stock samsung Firmware (pertained to ur region) and then see if the issue persists or not to rule out any possible 'Software issue' in the first place
Thank you, I will try that and report back the results.
You can try hawkerpauls nuke if flashing stock doesn't work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100558
My GT-i9300 seems to only recharge when plugged into a mains charger.
Until recently all was fine, afaik no updates... then
I travel alot, and use a car charger to maintain battery... it just stopped working, first thoughts were the cable..;. but I have 2 phones and the cables work with the other phone (bought new ones anyway.. just in case.. you can never have to many cables).
at home we have (amongst other things) a 2amp multi usb hub, it has little lights to show which socket is active, when the phone is connected the phone does not charge and the hub does not register the connection.
.. so I'm thinking the phone microusb is faulty... I carefully wiggle it to see if it connects... but get nothing.
however, the samsung microusb charger that came with the phone does still charge the phone.
My feelings are that my phone has suddenly become fussy about what charges it..
I've done a search and found mention of Googy max kernel for the charge control feature
however before I do this please, any tips, suggestion WHY this might have suddenly happened? and any alternative remedies. Thanks
btw: using Carbon-kk-nightly-20140302-0518 with no problems previous to this... except a dialler issue.
I tried to charge my S6 Edge with the Samsung fast charger that comes in the box but noticed that it charges my phone really slowly. When I plugged my M7's charger to the S6, it showed an estimated 2hr charge time, but when I connected the fast charger, it showed a 5hr estimated charge time. I noticed that it was taking forever to charge.
Anybody else seen this issue? What should be my steps to get it replaced? I bought the phone from BestBuy.
Thank you.
can you post screenshot?
Does it show "fast charging" along with the 5 hours time or not? If it does is probably the charger. If it doesn't it probably the phone. Take it back to best buy to verify.
I have one "Advanced Fast Charger" that will not inspire either of my two S6 Edge phones to report that they are fast-charging.
The other three I have all will, and with all four cables.
The one that won't, doesn't no matter which of the four cables is used.
I contacted Samsung and got an RMA for it. Even though I gave them the part-number for the accessory travel-charger, they insisted that I go to the "menu" on the charger and give them a six-digit code.
I suggested several times that the charger had no menu, but the (web-chat person) kept asking for it. Finally I told them the menu on the charger wasn't working either so I couldn't give them their 6-digit code, and that seemed to be enough for them to issue the RMA.
They tell me that it will take about two weeks to get it replaced. But that's OK, because my S6 Edge phone stopped auto-rotating today (two days after my 14-day window to return it) and that will also take two weeks to "repair" - so I won't be needing the charger anyway.
GO SAMSUNG!

I notice this when I use the fast vehicle charger from Verizon that is specifically meant to be used with this phone. It sometimes tells me 6 hour until full and then randomly it will display "fast charging" like it is supposed to and like it does when I use the wall charger. No rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes, it fast charges and sometimes it doesn't. I know it has to do with whether the phone is in use and if the screen is on, so I turned the phone off to test and it still didn't fast charge. Any ideas??

Were you able to find an answer about this? My old Note 4 used to charge really fast with my car charger, now my new S6 Edge is detecting my car charger as USB, and it's really slow to charge.

I ended up exchanging the charger for a new one and now it works fine. The first one must have been defective. I have the Verizon charger with fast charge technology.

I had the same issue. Used another USB cable and it worked fine. Apparently some of the cables they're shipping with the fast charge adapter aren't working right. Going to cause them headaches.
Posted my experience here.

I had the same issue too, but for me it was the charger that was faulty.
I just started
I just started experiencing the same. I'm about to take it back to T-Mobile and see if they'll issue me a new something...right?
Hi,
my Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300) recently started to be very hard to get it even to charge a little...sometimes I was forced to charge the battery manually by taping +5V and GND cables to the battery because the phone would just refuse to charge.
I suspected that the micro USB socket in phone is corrupted, because I've sometimes tried 6 different USB cables and none of them even worked for a few seconds. Then after struggling with it, it SOMETIMES started working.
I've also tried 5 different chargers (original 1A HTC Charger, 2A Samsung charger, 1A iPhone chargers, some different 2A charger i just bought because i thought it may finally start working)
And so yeah, I've bought a new charger with new usb cable with 2A at output, hoping it will work. But guess what? It didn't even charge the phone for a seconds, it charges other phones, my old HTC phone, my sisters Galaxy S4, but not my S3...it is not the cables fault (im 100% sure) because i have it connected and charging to my old HTC charger (1A at output) and i just plug the cable to the new 2A Charger and it is not working anymore...
The weirdest thing is that most of these chargers (Except the new one) were all working with the phone, but stopped after some time, like my old charger stopped working so I tried another one - it was working, but after trying it again or few times later it just stopped...
Any ideas? The battery is holding power long enough I think, so I dont think it is corrupted, what else could cause this?
Edit
Suddenly, after my phone dropped down to 7% and I had problems with connecting it to the original HTC charger (1A at output) i tried the new 2A charger which never worked with this phone, and BAM, it is working now and charging very well.
However, what started happening now is that when im charging the phone (through USB cable) it keeps spamming "Docking station connected" and going into docking mode, which is very annoying. I guess there is some problem with the socket? :/

I can see your assumption, but have you ever tried another battery ? Just for checking, to make sure...
