I did a full backup with titanium, factory reset then restore. The app did a great job. The only thing it didn't restore was my email accounts and home screen layouts. For future reference, is there a way to backup and restore these? I didn't back up all of the system files, just selected ones because I wanted to wipe as much as possible for a clean start.

Can anyone suggest a good backup that saves the apk and all the data?
I've tried titanium but it did restore some of the data, ie the dates on my calendar. I also tried mybackup root but it didn't restore some apps and others that it did restore had force closure issues.
I like the backup from cwr, is there way to only save apps?

Usually, I just use nandroid. If you want to backup your apps, though, I am pretty sure that titanium backup does that.
I should have edit my original post, i meant to say that it didn't fully restore my data, like the dates on my touch calendar.
I do usually just make a nandroid but im planning to flash froyo so need just my apps and data.

Ti usually does a pretty good job, that being said I use Astro to backup apps and associated data. Astro will backup Ti also so you can avoid having to go to market for Ti after flash ...also Ti will not backup itself, Astro will.
Thanks i'll try that out.

I have had great success using Titanium backup. Apps and data restore flawlessly. An occasional nandroid backup (from within ClockworkRecovery) is also great to do.
Im wiping my phone to go from GB to ICS. What batch backup selection in Titanium Backup is the right one to save my apps that wont cause problems with a completly different rom. Just want to be sure....
I always just do the ones on top
"Backup all user apps"
Then batch restore
"Missing apps with data"
Then if that were to cause problems, which for me it rarely does even did that going from my captivate to my note without issue, but if it did cause issues, simply factory reset in recovery ads only restore the apps themselves without data.
Only restore downloaded apps and data.
No system data. I did both earlier and all hell broke loose.

Since we are on the subject of backing up and restoring... is it possible for TB to remember which apps you had frozen and refreeze those apps during a full restore?
What is the quickest way to do a full wipe and flash a new rom and get everything to the way it was before?
The thing that is taking me the longest and is making me not want to do a full wipe is having to do all the phone settings and sign into all my accounts after doing a full wipe.
Is there a way to make this step of the process quicker?

+1 good question xD
what I do is:
nandroid
backup apk and data with "my backup root", move apks to pc
Factory reset - if you want to clean internal SD
wipe everything from recovery
flash custom rom twice in the same recovery session (don't ask me why)
flash mods
boot
loging to gmail to restore some user data (contacts etc)
with droid explorer use batch install to reinstall all the apks
When it finish with I use "my backup root" to restore only data of seleceted apks (somethimes the apk restoration fails using mybackup on JB, thats why I use Droidexplorer to restore apks and mybackuproot to restore data)
FIN :silly:
I don't think that is the fastest way lol
That still doesnt tell me a quicker way of signing into all my accounts and doing the settings. Is there some backup or something I can do that automatically does my settings and signs into my accounts?
You can use Titanium Backup to back up all your apps. I think the paid version does that all for you so you dont have to do them one by one. Itll restore everything back to normal quickest.

Still doesn't answer my question.
Titanium Backup. It takes me about 30 to change from Rootbox to Resurrection Remix last monday.

I think its there is no fastest way of doing this. From my experience the best clean way is to restore all accounts in clean rom manualy from net.Redownload all apps that you need from google. Its the cleanest way

Hi all,
I think it's time for me to clean my s3, I have the latest ELKC rom, but the device is too laggy and overall experience is not as good as before.
What is the best way to backup and restore the device that after a factory reset and reflash the rom I can get clean system files and all my data and configurations back as it was ?
I know thet there is 2 major ways to do so. one is with CWM and the other one with Titanium Backup.
If i'll do CWM backup and afterwards, do only data restore, will that do the trick ?
Thanks
Titanium backup is best. At least you can choose what to restore.

Do you know what is the best full data ( apps, save data, contact, setting, messages, etc) backup apps ?
Im currently using Titanium Backup but its too 'advance' for me and its not doing a complete system backup.
Thanks !

Titanium.......(if you say that titanium is too "advanced" for you then you really shouldn't be flashing your phone and messing around with it)
If you want a complete system image then make a nandroid backup
