Is the 3.15 RUU safe? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

So I've finally decided that it's time to go s-off, but now I read that the RUU for the 2.09 hboot is messed up. I just wanted to know if anybody has made any progress on the issue?

How can I verify if Ota was taken. The wife unit told me she thinks she ran it!

Go into your bootloader and see if it is HBoot 1.15.

1.12. Strange as she swears she ran it.
Off the top of my head I can't remember the root method, but it was an all in one that used the HTC unlock. Now the bootloader says tampered. Recovery says development edition. Any way to change these messages?

If she saw something update it was possibly prl/profile. It should ask to run the firmware update and not just do it. Lazypanda soff then regaw's bootloader customizer will let you write whatever you please, as well as remove the red text on the splash screen.

1.22 to 1.13 somehow automatically?

Ok so I was showing my phone off earlier to a friend at work and noticed 1.13 which is weird because I took the 1.22 update right out of the box. I tried running lazy panda after I did countless times to get s-off and couldn't because the update, also tried running the 1.13 ruu but couldn't manage to keep it from errors. So it seems that the phone somehow downgraded itself after the fact... Has this ever happened to anyone at all? I was wondering if maybe the phone actually took the ruu but I didn't notice.. Anyways so weird but HELLLLL YEA!

Haha I wish.. Its puzzling me for sure unless I didn't notice that the ruu actually downgraded it. That's my only explanation.

Yea I went ahead and checked to see if it had gone back to stock hboot and no still on hboot 1.15...I relocked now and running into ALL sorts of problems. Running RUU won't work and now SuperSU says needs to update binary, now sits there on installing....then freezes the phone. Damn it man..

Like which one?, I am currently on 1.22.651.3 and can't root with that.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
You can root with 1.22 (h-boot 1.15) with HTC unlock. I'd suggest using regawmod's automated rooter.
If you have hboot 1.15 you HAVE to use the 1.22 RUU. Using a previous RUU will fail.
which hboot version do you have?
I'm on h boot 1.15

Back to stock method?

Is there a back to stock method for the 1.58 hboot for the Htc evo v 4g? Or could I just get away with flashing a stock unrooted rom and the stock recovery? I might have to get a replacement evo v 4g because I'm pretty sure I'm having a hardware malfunction so in which case I'll have to send the current one I have back. So any help would be appreciated.
Edit: Current info

hboot help?

ok i have just s-offed and now i have idea how to change the HBoot... idk what to do. please inform me...
I'm pretty sure if you're s off, you've already changed your hboot.
Now you need to decide what you want to do...boot to bootloader and it will say what hboot you're on...jb needs 1.5 or lower
