[APP]aeGis v1.3.2.5 from Decad3nce...a must have - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

This thread is redirected to a great work found in xda Android Software development Thread
The reason this app is different because it takes nearly nothing from you ,so i felt its worth sharing with others
aeGis v1.3.2.5
aeGis allows most of the functionality you'll see with Lookout or Cerebrus, but handles it locally on your phone via SMS with no data connection being required to complete any of the actions.
If your phone ever goes missing or is stolen, simply text the passphrase you chose to your device to activate any of the four options. aeGis will alert you if the action has been successfully completed.

Phone Security

I'm looking for recommendations on phone security apps in case my phone gets lost or stolen. Free or paid, I really don't care, I just want to sleep better knowing that if my clumsy self loses the phone I won't be out of 200 dollars. Thanks!
Lookout has been good for me. Does backups, anti-virus (however unnecessary as it may be right now), and phone location. Used it since beta Win Mo days.

Thanks for the help! I tried the app and it works out well. Everything works well on it. I had to do the GPS fix on my phone to test out the Locate Device function, and good thing I did too! I would've been so mad if I used lookout and then realize the GPS on my phone didn't work, lol. Again, thanks!
I'm a fan of Mobile Defense. You can install as a system app and it will be able to survive a wipe. The only way to remove it would be a flash. It won't show up in app manager either. It can remotely activate the GPS and will notify you automatically of a sim card change via email. It can also remotely lock the phone even if you don't normally use a lock pattern. It can also display messages on the screen that won't go away without entering a code. So you can have the screen have a message telling the person to return the phone and the message won't go away until the code is entered.
The only downside is that I think the beta program is closed to new people right now. I'm not sure as I joined a while ago.
I demoed Wave Secure and liked it so much that I bought the subscription for my G1 and my Mom's My Touch.
Check the features here.

Good Luck!
And I became really a fan of the recently introduced Track and Protect. It's a service that not only allows you to locate your phone on map, lock it, wipe it or let it scream via a personal web panel but also allows you to make photos remotely and send a call back command to listen to your own phone. All this works even after SIM change! It has auto lock function, it reports you the thief's phone number, operator ID and location instantly. Really useful.

Do you know any information on there "credit" method that they are using? It seems like a great service to use except that they don't tell you anything about these "credits" on the website without registering first.
Currently I use both Mobile Defense and Lookout. I always feel safe when I have more than one security app just in case. Although, Mobile Defense might also have a paid service in the future, similar to what Trust and Protect is doing. I wouldn't mind paying Mobile Defense since they allow us to install it as a system app, which a previous user explained upon.

[App] SwitchMe secure login manager needs Nook testers please!

Hi everyone. Im one of the developers of SwitchMe, and app that allows multiple secure logins into separate installations of android on a single device. The pr is after the break.
I really need a few people to check into some issues people on the Nook have been experiencing. There are some warnings involved:
- testers should perform a full nandroid backup before using the app, it is not our responsibility if you start getting boot loops or whatever
- if you report results or bugs, please use the "Write to us" function in the app whenever possible, and always describe the issue in the header of the logs you send
- if you post here, be sure to include your device type and rom
- if you have apps installed on sd, be sure to mention that as well
--------------------------------------------------------------------
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple installations of Android just as you would on a desktop computer.
The technology behind SwitchMe saves all of your applications and data, protects it and stores it as a file in memory. You can then log out of an
account and log into a fresh installation of Android or another account with its own unique content.
You may create as many profiles as the memory is capable of holding. Some of these may require very little free memory because they contain few apps,
others will be larger as they contain many applications and lots of cache and data.
Why is this functionality useful?
Privacy - the most obvious benefit is that you can securely share one device among multiple users, which gives you privacy and peace of mind.
Testing - if you are a developer, you can use profiles as clean sandboxes to test your applications and their interaction with the system.
Gaming – with multiple installations of Android on a single device, you can now play online MMOs as different characters.
Speed - the games your kids play slow down your tablet, but with SwitchMe you can easily create profiles without games or instant messengers.
Battery life - when the battery is low but there are important emails or documents to edit later, switch to a profile which only contains these essentials.
These of course are only suggestions - there are plenty of other uses for the functionality SwitchMe offers.

The Lite version allows the creation of two profiles, enough to test on.
Screens:
What would you like to test on nook? Everything works fine. I have bought this app sometimes back mainly for the use on Nook.
Please read the top of the op.

SwitchMe 1.2 has been rolled out and now includes a lockscreen replacement:
1.2
Added lock screen for logging in and out
More stable Fast switch implementation
Reworked UI colors
Now, its very important that we get some feedback on how this big new feature works, so please read up on it in the help and post your thoughts!
i tried this app last night on one of the cm9 (feb,14th's) nightlies on my nook color and its nice, i like it.
Thanks, glad to hear it. Be sure to give me some feedback on the lockscreen if you do decide to buy the app!
Its working perfectly here! Thank for this awesome app!
Anything other than praise to report
How can I test the secure login manager if the lite version does not allow secure login?
ATM you cant, but soon you will. In any case, many people have bought the app and it is them that i am calling on. You dont have to if you dont want to. That is something you will no doubt learn about this forum...

I assumed that meant I could test the secure login with the lite version. So I downloaded it, installed it, and found out that I couldn't. Thought you might want to know. Sorry for the inconvenience, I will uninstall it now.
The switch screen will be free in the next version, only password protection will be charged for...

What do you think of yesterday's update?
I have SwitchMe installed on my CM7 Nook Color.
I don't use my (main) profile too often, my girlfriend uses her secondary profile nearly daily. Today I tried to switch to my profile, and I got a message saying the app is not compatible with my device.
I can't switch back to my main profile. I rebooted, and still get the same issue.
There is not a password, I'm using the free version. I am unsure if there was a recent update as my girlfriend is the primary user, and I don't see the SwitchMe app in the Android Market for her profile.
Please advise.
You need to update the app. Look here: http://bit.ly/wGHxRt
Sorry about that, your last update seems to have fallen into that dark, hour long space between a new release and the hotfix.

Thank you for the quick reply. I used the unswitchme.zip file referenced in that post, and ran it in recovery. I got worried when I rebooted and was in my secondary profile, with no way to switch back. I installed SwitchMe from the market on that profile, and it detected both profiles as normal.
The only real issue I see now is that SwitchMe is installed in my secondary profile, not my main profile. If I ever decide to stop using SwitchMe, how can I ensure that my main profile is what's kept as the main, as I can't uninstall it from main account?
Thanks again!
Whatever profile you uninstall it in will be your main profile...

So I would actually need to uninstall it again with the zip file, and reinstall it on my main profile to "fix" the issue and return it to normal?
Not trying to be a pain, just want to fully understand the process, as my girlfriend may be getting her own tablet soon, and I won't need to use SwitchMe anymore. I'd just like to make sure I can safely remove it at some point and go back to using my tablet on it's own without the app.
Thanks again for the great app and very helpful information.
I already answered your question.

[Q] clone one to many - Atrix 2

Hi guys, I’m new to the forum and fairly new to Android devices in general. I’ve googled a good bit before posting, and searched this forum for some keywords, but haven’t come up with a solution to what I need to do.
I have what seems like a fairly simple need: Set up an android device the way I want it, and then clone this image to multiple other devices.
I work with an organization that conducts a lot of epidemiology surveillance in foreign countries. The surveys are done on android based devices with a collection of off-the-shelf apps, plus one we had custom built for our purpose. Data is sent to us via whatever mobile networks happen to be available in the country being surveyed (we buy our phones unlocked, and get the SIM cards in-country).
As we continue to expand, installing all those apps and getting all of the settings just right becomes a very tedious, repetitive task, when you consider doing 100+ phones a month. .
Ideally I would like to stick with the factory rom, just add/remove some apps and configure settings. The cloning process needs to be fairly straight-forward, and not require a bunch of apps to be installed on the target phones first, because that kind of defeats the purpose.
For the time being, we’re using Motorola Atrix and Atrix 2. We also have some XT720s but we’re phasing those out.
Not sure if this is relevant, but below is roughly what provisioning currently looks like:
1. We receive a batch of phones, say 100 at a time
2. First, do a factory reset, and go through the initial setup
3. Remove as many of the factory installed apps as possible
4. Set up WiFi
5. Log into Google Play account and install the 6 apps we actually use
6. Make LauncherPro the default desktop, set it to only use 1 dock and 1 desktop, set a plain boring background, hide all except the app drawer icon, and have and icon for our app, and an airplane mode widget on the desktop.
7. Finally, enter the server connection settings in our survey app (this part we’ve gotten to a point where all we do is drop a config file to the SD Card, and it picks up the settings for this particular app)
8. Turn off the phone, and do it all again on the other 99 devices…
Any thoughts on how to automate this?

APP REQUEST: Locate, Control, Wipe A Lost Device

1-My friend lost his phone. I came across Lookout Plan B - an app that can be installed after the fact to locate phone. But it's for GB and won't install on ver. 4+. I was wondering if there is a similar app for 4+ devices and if none request development of the same? I would be willing to pay for such an app and I think it's really needed. Also additional options could include a low level, secure device wipe via sms messages, data retrieval, etc.
2-A self wipe app if passcode is entered X number of times unsuccessfully. This would be similar to Autowipe.
ATTN: MODS
Please move thread if this is not the appropriate location.
Cerberus is a good one. I use it on 4 devices with the same account.

(What are) Must have APPS and To-Do to newbies to Galaxy S9+ (?)

Hey all.
Within a couple of days I'm getting my new Galaxy S9+ (Exynos) phone.
I made a year break from Android and switched to Apple, and now I'm back.
Unfortunately, I know nothing about newest Galaxy phones.
Maybe anyone has suggestions what should I do (download) when I'll set-up my phone (I've watched all the reviews of "must have" etc., don't suggest me to do that)?
I used to root and unlock bootloader for each my android phone, but I won't do that to my Galaxy S9+ at least for 6 months.
Hence, many root apps not working: "AdAway", "Viper4Android" etc.,
Maybe anyone knows Ad Blocking app without rooting a phone?
Or just mention anything that newbie to Galaxy S9+ should know.
(If you're wondering why am I "spamming" with these "stupid" questions: And no, I didn't find any similar thread to this)
Thanks in advance!
I use to root and rom all my phones, but I don't think it is as necessary as before.
I also use to download all the tweaks, but I don't do that either.
Non-root to block adds try Blokada it is in the F-Droid store.
It is Free and it Works.
I also swear by ES File Explorer to view and move files on your app. Also to sync any cloud storage you have.
If you have a regular phone number and google voice number going to the same phone
Voice Choice 2.0 is a nice app that allows you to make calls with a specific number
i.e. family and close friends have you carrier number
work partners, resume, business line has your google number
when you make a call you don't have to select anything, based on your rules set up it will dial out using the appropriate number.

check out this thread at your own risk. It works I disabled Facebook (don't see why that would be on and unlocked phone fro Samsung, but i digress)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9-plus/how-to/s9-s9-bloatware-removal-thread-g960u-t3817810
Be careful with the commands and understand what is being done before you hit the enter/return key
Good thing about disabling is if you fubar the phone you can do a factory restore and start all over
I only disabled Facebook. will investigate the other software as i play with the phone. Only had it 2 weeks so far.
