Hi there, anyone know which roms (for evo 3d) that have a roam only mode? I know there is a good app with this but i'd like to know if there are roms with this option available built-in.
thx!
edit: made title more specific

I know it works well on MeanROM ICS 2.6 because mikeyxda lives where the Sprint signal is pretty bad and he uses it a lot himself.
There are other ROM's that have it too including ZR3D and Smooth Criminal and I'm sure there are more. AFAIK it is only integrated in Sense based ROM's, but as you pointed out also available with the Roam Control app.

Re: Roms with 'roam only' mode
Ramjet is spot on with this. For our phone, the only non-sense ROM that has Roam is the Cyanogen Jelly Bean. Most other Sense ROMs should have it. You can confirm by looking at their feature list.
Personally, the one I'm using is the inbRed ROM.

Correct, but he was asking about a roam only option and I don't think even CM10 has that. AFAIK it's only available in Sense ROM's unless you use the roam control app.

appreciate the reply guys, how about gangam style?
I see it as a fix in the notes. Please see here

Somehow I missed that and oohaylima is right. The roam only option is in system settings under Wireless & Networks/More/Mobile networks/System select. I have no idea how well it works since I rarely need to roam.

In my area, I can't receive SMS while roaming when I used that ROM. But it could be the MOAs in the area for the towers. I know once I leave this region, I can call and receive SMS while roaming.
Viper ROM is real nice, and has that option.

So trying to set up a friends phone and I'm starting to get extremely frustrated. The goal is for me to set up the phone to be as stable as possible with flawless 2WCR. I personally used Infected Rom without any issues for months when I had the evo3D so that is the rom I suggested. The latest build of Infected R246 records calls flawlessly out of the box. However this build has random reboot issues & gets stuck in a boot loop, I checked other users are having similar problems. Was suggested to try build 218fixed, I tried that random reboots seem to have been cured however now 2WCR doesn't work. CallRecoder detects and sets it to evo3D & 2WCR patch settings by default. It shows it's recording during calls but when the call ends I get a little popup on the bottom saying "Error has occurred while encoding..." Using wav for recording which worked fine on the 246 build I also want the best quality.
So I'm not sure if this error is from the kernel not being patched or what. Kernel links seem to be all dead I'm not sure why I was going to try the Anthrax Kernel. I really rather not use a custom kernel I want it to work out of the box to be as stable as possible. I'm not sure how to correctly patch the kernel that comes with the rom or if the error is even being caused from that.
I need to set this phone up to be as stable as possible with 2WCR at the kernel level. Does anyway have any rom that they use or have tested that 2WCR works well without issues, reboots or bugs? Again just looking for the most stable experience possible while maintaining 2WCR at kernel level. Any suggestions for a good setup would be appreciated. I'm sick of messing with the phone & not sure where to go from here.
Thanks

Your so helpful, you just come here to troll or what? It's none of your business but if you must know it's for a friend he answers phones for a service company and it's a extremely useful tool for recording all customer information without needing pen and paper. Thanks for the awesome help though.
Call recorder works with ICS and Gingerbread. I use it with the last MeanROM for Gingerbread.

Mean ROM GB out of the box comes with the Dodova kernel which supports 2WCR. I don't use it, but as far as I know, you just need a two way calling recording app from the Store. As for stability, it has been very stable for me when I have used it.
Doesn't Google Voice have that option? I think if you press 4 during the call it records. I could be wrong though...

Google Voice is free until the end of 2012. So I personally don't invest in Google Voice. But yes, I believe if you hit for, it gives that option.

Hi
I'd like to ask about 2WCR with Evo 3D GSM. There are some topics about this but all of them are about CDMA (not GSM) or seems to be dead (not supported anymore, dead links, etc). Like that post above about Dodova kernel - wonderful but for CDMA...
Do you know about any kernel that supports 2WCR? I've heard that CyanogenMod has that feature which suggests that it has to be implemented in MiRaGe's kernel but I haven't found any confirmation.
Can you help me?
*) Before you ask... In my country it is perfectly legal to record calls. All you have to do is to inform guy you're talking to at the beginning of call that you're recording conversation. It's useful when talking about business with thousands of details you have to memorize....

I recently was looking for such information.
The answer is simple.
You check yourself if you install Call Recorder in the system, including root.
After you install the application
Settings -> Recording -> Device -> HTC EVO 3D.
The program will default recording by the kernel.
2WCR works fine on ICS Stock ROM with root.

I am in the last stages of getting my Turtle Power Rom beta 1.0 ready for use but I would like to get a few people for testing.
The Project has turned into a very new thought on custom roms. What I am working on some have seen early betas of but this will not be anything close to what that was.
With Aroma Installer I have made it to where you can get several types of roms from the one base. You start off by choosing your base. For now you have the choice of MIUI or ICS sense. From there you can choose your launcher. So you can have a MIUI with sense, or with aosp ics, or others. Or you can have ICS sense with MIUI, or sense, or aosp. Then you can choose your settings type. Again you have several options of what you get. Then you can get Leedroid tweeks, and choose your service provider. There is sprint, cricket, and boost, but virgin and metropcs are in the works for future release. You choose your gapps normal or inverted. Your mms type htc, aosp, inverted aosp. Along with many other apps. You can get all your sprint apps vmm, sprint store, etc. You can choose from several boot animations.
This are just some of the things. As you can see by the options list the bugs can be countless so I am looking for many people to help with checking out different install types and reporting bugs back to me.
For those who would like to help out hit me up in a pm.
Peace,
Love, and
Happiness.
+1 good start
Please do make it for GSM too....It'll be great as your rom sounds good !

gsm?
Since I dont have a gsm I dont see this going that way. Sorry folks, but I would just be shooting in the dark and hoping for a hit if I was to try a gsm version.
Okay cdma users how about a teaser of what the next release will be like. This is only the aroma installer and will not flash anything to your phone. Enjoy.

This thread is to compile a list of ROM's that work well on Boost Mobile flashed Evo 3D's. Please post any tested ROM's that you can contribute, and I'll add them to the OP.
It's important that we contribute ROM's that have all important functions working, including MMS and voicemail notification.
Please DO NOT submit ROM's that require us to install 3rd party MMS or voicemail notification apps.
When contributing a ROM, please include a link to the ROM developer.
Thanks

Question, isn't it possible to make just about any rom work with boost? To my understanding I thought you just had to do some modding the apn and whatnot and there you go. I know some Roms (like miui by dh) come with boosts apn already configured into it. If that's the case are you looking for Roms that all ready have the work done for you or are you looking for the best Roms to do the work on? Or both? Lol sorry just curious.

I know Viper3d has on option when installing that lets you choose the carrier and boost mobile is on there. I'm flashed to boost also and i can tell you that almost all roms work with it(if you know what youre doing, just change apn).
Only thing that doesn't work is sprint voicemail app not downloading voicemails but i dont think Boost has that yet

Yes, it is possible, but looking for the ROM's that already have the Voice Mail Notification working and the correct APN settings or a selection like he mentions below that will do the config for you.
I thought I would start a thread to make them all listed in one place.
Thanks for the input like the MIUI by DH.

Thanks for the input on Viper3d.
The hope is to gather a list that includes the VM Notification working and as you mention about the APN settings.
Thanks
@Malvarez92 - I've not had luck with Viper3D ICS ROM. It never makes it past the initial HTC screen on the first boot. Do you have a link to the ROM that will work?
@gadgetdaddy - I just tried out Elegancia ICS ROM from htcevohacks.com. Very nice ROM, however I can't use it since it doesn't have a camera at all. Even the most basic nonsmart phones have that.
The ROM I've been using which I believe is the best I've seen so far for the EVO 3D is Newts One S RC3. It is an ICS ROM and only thing not working is 3D pictures. From what I hear that is status quo for ICS on EVO 3D tho.
I'd like to find a nice GB ROM with even has 3D pictures working. Last one I used was Infected Rom 1.4.2, but I had to replace the Phone.apk file to get native vm to work.
I beg to differ on 3D pictures on ICS. d3rpICS-inbREDed-5.4 has working 3d pics. I'd love to get native voicemail working on it. APN Settings can be fixed easily and someone in that thread is submitting the details for another prepay carrier so that they can get it added to Aroma. If only I knew how to fix the native voicemail.....
Any Sense ROM that has EPST codes working can work on Boost Mobile because you can change your MMS server using the ##3424# code as long as you know your MSL.
Also any AOSP ROM as long as you follow the instructions in my AOKP Jelly Bean thread (2nd post) would work on Boost Mobile
I don't see a need for this thread BUT to each's own I guess...HAHAHAHA

While any rom can be used for MMS with very little modification, the original post also stated voicemail notifications without a 3rd party app. ASOP and other non sense roms have this because it is standard for android. However, the EVO 3D roms mostly come with only visual voice mail because that is how a majority of 3D users access voice mail. So while you may think that any Rom can be used for boost, the idea of this thread is for a WORKING boost Rom that requires NO 3rd party apps for MMS *or* voicemail notifications. I actually find this thread quote helpful.....

Hopefully you don't think I meant any disrespect BUT from reading your post, I think you did...HAHHAHA
Let me make a few things clear before I just let this be and move on.
1. I've been on Boost Mobile for about two years and have several devices flashed to Boost Mobile. With that said, I know what I'm talking about here........not just doing a drive by post. What I've said is backed up by experience and facts not just opinions
2. AGAIN, my post was not meant to be disrespectful towards the OP so there wasn't a need to come off defensive. I was simply stating that if you put in 1-2 minutes of effort into it.......every ROM works 100 percent on Boost Mobile....i.e MMS, Voicemail notifications, etc. Why clutter up the general section even more for something that serves no purpose? Should we start up a thread on how to change your wallpaper on different ROMs?? LOL
BUT this little back/forward is useless in itself and to be honest, I got better things to do. Arguing about whether the thread is helpful or useless doesn't help anyone at all anyways due to the fact the OP hasn't been updated in over a month HAHAHA

Hello, I have been a member for a while, but mostly read, do not post on this site so I cant post in the development section yet. I have an EVO3d I am trying new JB Roms on to find a new cool rom , but every one I find I am having an issue here and there. I recently updated my Kernel to a different kernel, and that fixed some of the issues.
I am trying Paranoid Andriod JB and got everything to work, but receiving SMS messages. I cant find the setting for changing the Proxy like suggested in one post I read. Could someone point me in the right direction? Sorry if this is posted, I searched but was unable to find it for the Sprint Evo 3d. I found something for Cricket, Called APN manager. Would the settings be the same except for the mycricket inputs be sprint instead?
Any one know any other ROMs to try that are cool and customizable for JB?
Thanks for all you developers do, Love ALL of the work!
Chris
Hello, first and foremost I know where you are coming from. I've been playing around with jb ROMs for weeks now. You are using paranoid jb correct? The problem you are having is the developer ported this ROM over from another device meant for another carrier and thus the APN settings are not coded for sprint correctly. Generally, ROMs built from source typically have MMS and texting working specifically for that device. While no ROM is best and due to moderator preference we cannot have opinion threads on which is best. However I can point your to a few ROMs that have those things working. You can try gangnam style, king kang, unofficial jb aokp. Hope this helps.
I realize there are multiple threads on this. But unless I'm blind - which I may be - I can't find a final solution.
I can not tether on my rooted DNA. WiFi Tether does not work. I have tried multiple versions. I don't know if it makes a difference, but the MSSClamping option is not available. Even still, it won't start.
I've tried 1-Click - that says it requires a subscription.
I've tried FoxFi. That sets up some VPN tunnel then doesn't start.
Any leads for a successful solution?
I have several rooted Roms posted with native tethering enabled, since most 3rd party apps no longer work on kit Kat.
So, the best solution, which works, is to run a Rom with native tethering enabled for all users or modify the Rom you're running to do the same.

Thank you. Unfortunately I'm in an area cursed with the Verizon Trolling of custom ROMs. Anything other than Stock Root results in SMS sending issues.
I'm not a programmer by any stretch, but have been modifying phones for a while based on all of you wizards' work. Is modifying the current ROM a "simple" task?
A little research has shown there is an "entitlement hack" for other phones. Does that hack exist for the DNA?
Still searching...

Just a stab in the dark fur you but.. I would think that sms/mms problems would be from your setup(apn, system selection etc.) and if big brother is tagging you I suggest a firewall.. That said were all pretty much on or used Verizon /Santods rom my tether works great..

Thanks a bunch. You may find a thread of mine buried deep on here somewhere about this problem back in Feb/March. I had just gotten my DNA and ended up with the issue of not being able to send. It became a general consensus that VZW was testing some sort of blacklisting of custom ROMs in certain areas. I've not heard of a solution yet. I've tried multiple ROMs, all with the same outcome.
I look forward to your thread and whatever brainstorming comes from it.
Thanks!
