Charging port issue, or battery? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

So, I was on my phone non-stop last night and ran the battery down to 2%. I put it on my car mount charger (Sprint I-bolt), where I found it not to charge. Got home and no charge on all my chargers. Frustrated, I assumed my charge port broke. I went back out to my car and tried my best to get a good connection, and what do yah know, a blue light and orange light on my phone. So, I let it charge overnight in my car and brought it inside in the morning. I tried it on my charger, and it charges fine. So, I called my buddy whom is a Sprint tech., and he said sometimes the battery gets so low, they have to pull the battery and put it on a machine to boost the battery.
So, did I let my batt get too low, or do I have a bad charging port?

I've let my battery die down multiple times and I haven't had a problem charging yet. Just letting you know.

Yeah, I could have sworn that I've done this before and had no issues getting it to charge. I don't know what to say, it's working flawless right now.

Do I need a new battery or are my settings messed up

I own a HTC wildfire. I have some issues with my battery and I can't pinpoint out the reason, these are the issues:
It rarely charges to 100% unless I let it charge for a while and then reboot the phone. But it'll drop really quick
If its charging while switched off and I take the charger off, the charging light will stay on indefinitely
The battery goes really quick, in 90 mins my battery charge is now 38%
When switched off and charging, it never gets the green fully charged light, but if I switch it on it'll say 100%
Do I need a new battery?

Have you tried calibrate it?

Yes, a good few times. I've ordered a new battery

Extremely slow charging (12+ hours).

I recently upgraded to a Rezound before the family share data plans came around to keep my unlimited.
First thing I did when I got the phone was to install the latest ICS RUU, unlocked via htcdev, s-off and ra recovery. For the ROM I used business sense ics. Started on 5.4 and upgraded to 5.5. I'm using the stock kernel bundled with the ROM. It's running awesome. Only problem I have is the battery charging.
I have the OEM HTC 2750 ma extended 3.7v battery. The charging is extremely slow. It took the phone almost twelve hours to go from dead to "charged". I've read a few issues regarding this, but nothing that looks like it matches my issue.
Using battery monitor I checked the ma when charging and it seems to be charging at a slower pace than via even USB. It ranges anywhere from 175ma to 400ma with occasional jumps to 800ma and even the occasional dip into negative ma even with the charger connected. According to the app it seems to stall at 98% charged with a charge of 2692 mAH of 2720 mAh. I've tried the stock charger that came with it, an igo charger, an lg charger. Just about every charger I could think of. Even the 2.1 amp chargers.
Anyway, I'm at a loss. I love the phone, I just hate the fact that I have to basically be tethered to a charger for 12 hours to get a charge that only goes to 98%. Any ideas or explanations of to why this is happening. I checked the battery threads here, but like I said or doesn't really match my setup. I appreciate any input.

I know you have tried different wall plugs but have you tried different cables?
It is possible you might have got a lemon.
Yeah, I've tried a few different cables, even tried bump charging like I did with my old incredible. When you say lemon, do you mean the battery or the phone itself? everything is working so well except for the charging.

Does the normal battery charge at a normal milli amp rate or do they both charge slowly? Also, how hot is the phone when it is charging slowly? The phone might be getting too hot and slowing the charge down to reduce heat
Honestly, I haven't actually used the stock battery. I'm not at home now, but when I can I will switch batteries and let you know what happens.
The temp is usually in the low 90s when charging. It actually increases during use. Right now, discharging the temp is at 107 and seems to be climbing.

Try the stock battery. We need to narrow it down to a phone or battery problem.
install current widget
tell us what the mah charging rate
check ur cable might damage or fake
So I ran down my battery until the phone shut off today. While I was waiting I wiped the battery stats five times. I'm currently charging the phone now and it's charging much faster. The ma when charging now is up where it should be. Ranging anywhere from 500 when I'm using the phone to over 1000 when I leave the phone alone. I don't want to speak to soon but maybe everything worked itself out. I got about six hours of use out of the battery, and that was with the screen on over 90% of the time. Not bad. I'll report back after a few charge and discharge cycles.

Settings/Power/Battery Status. With the OEM charger and cable, it should say "Charging (AC)." If it says "Charging (USB)," there's a problem, with charger, cable, the jack on your phone, or the firmware you're running.

[Q] 2xBatteries, 100% 15mins, Weird!!

I just got a Samsung Battery Charger/Stand with Battery & have just charged the new battery with it, swapped it for the old one that had just run out when I noticed something weird...
The new battery was showing up as 100% for about 15 minutes. During which time I had the screen on for 3 minutes at full brightness.
What does that mean??
I've never seen 100% for any more than a second after I've unplugged the phone.
I'm assuming there's some difference between the batteries and the stats that are in the phone for the battery. I've used the Battery Calibration app before, when changing roms on my old phone, and that would sort out little anomalies. Do I need to use battery calibration every time I switch batteries?
Will this work itself out?
Will this swapping negatively affect my phone in anyway?
I thank you in advance for your help/suggestions
The phone has logic to not let the battery charge to 100% for too long. The charger does not. Battery calibration apps do nothing.

So... the charger over charged the battery?
Will that damage it?

I posted the same thing in the morning on another thread. Great mind think alike! Haha
Well to me it doesn't mean anything wrong really. Just that the phone doesn't fully charge the battery for safety or maybe heat reasons. Who knows? If samsung desktop charger is approved by samsung its good enough to me.

Guess your right.
So yours was saying 100% for unusually long as well?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
It did on my new one for about 5min. Only but I had wifi on and screen and doing some work. It Wasatch new battery and didn't think much of it. I would say that even that was way more than the immediate 99% once off the charger on the phone

Just read your earlier post. Seems strange that the external charger charges more than the phone. I guess I can't complain about a few extra minutes!

One of my usual days with the battery charged up in the morning on he desktop charger, and I'm now 8 almost and have 72% when previously I was getting about 60% around this time

Battery Longevity and Charging Techniques?

Here's the scoop, just purchased the car dock designed for the EVO from Sprint and installed it into my semi tractor. I've never worried about how long the battery will last, in terms of months and years. Now, the battery isn't easily replaceable and my phone will be plugged in 24/7. Should I limit the amount of time that my phone is plugged into a 12v outlet? Is it fine to keep the charger plugged in non-stop?

A quick note about my question. Just took my phone off the car dock and battery percentage dropped from full to 95% in a few seconds, the dock is limiting charge?

First, it is not good to leave a phone on the charger 24/7. Doing that could cause the phone to over heat and mess up the soldering done to the charger port. I would suggest leaving your phone on the charger when it is needed. When your phone gets below probably 50 percent you can plug it back up, but don't just leave it on there. It is not fine to leave the phone on the charger non-stop. I hope I have answered your question.

Battery charging issue?

Hi,
I just noticed that after 12+h connected to charger my SGS3 is still at 87% of battery level. Does anyone faced that kind of issue?
- phone is new
- this is first full charge
- soft: JB (XEO)
Adam
hi adam!
that is odd.. i have not experienced that.... ever.
anyway, here are some of my theories:
considering you are using a wall socket...
a. your battery is defective
b. your charger is defective
c. just some other matters such as: black-out, some one unplugged the charger
i suggest you use your warranty now

Its ok now, i restarted the phone, charged it a bit turned off, and started charging again when turned on. its now green led and 100% looks like new battery stuck for a while when charging.

Also make sure to use the sammy charger and cable they are sensitive about not having Samsung branded things inserted into them
Thats a jelly bean issue which alot of people are facing...i charged it to 100% In like 8 hours and now on my second charge cycle and its charging perfectly like it used to on ICS roms
Ps: i am using HTC charger with orignal s3 cable
