Unfortunately Zune will never recognise WP8 devices, basically Zune is dead! You wil have to use the WP8 desktop software either for windows 7 or windows 8 Here.
I found just using windows media player to be good!

Yeah well, I have the same issue here.
So to be sure, let's say I have to developp WP7 applications on my Lumia 920 on Windows 7, since I can't get Zune to detect my Lumia 920 how am I supposed to deploy application to my phone ?
Visual Studio won't allow me to deploy if zune doesn't detect the phone...

Help

Could anyone advise me, I have Vista on my laptop, I use Ms mobile device centre to sync my xda2 (works well enough), I would like to upgrade the xda2to WM6 from pc2003se, would I be ok using vista or should I use my lads xp laptop with activesync?
What pitfalls are there using vista?
Not too sure on the pitfallss but as you have access to a PC with XP on it best suggestion is to use it.

PC Suite for HTC Hero

Is there a software similar to the Nokia PC Suite that provides options to control / access the phone from the PC? I am used to the Sony Ericsson PC Suite with my earlier P1i and use the mRouter for accessing the internet. What i get from the HTC Sync is options to sync the data alone. Something similar to the PC Suite will be better!
Thanks

You could look at this and this. Haven't tried any of those, but hey, you could give it a shot
Just for info the second suggestion does not seem to work on Win 7, haven't tried the other yet.
MG
Have you tried running it in compatabilitymode for vista/xp?
any ideas for sync / rom update in non-microsoft OS? what about ubuntu?
PC Suite
the first option (htc phone portal) works fine for my Hero. the phone is added with a web server. from the PC browser I am able to connect to the phone and access all my contacts, SD Card contents and to an extend configure the settings as well.
Thanks

Nope. Literally absolutely nothing will be backwards compatible from what MS has said.
...And there are some question marks around whether existing WM6.5 code will work on WPS7 although MS do seem to be retreating from one or two of their more restrictive positions. We shall see...

That is impossible. Windows 7 only runs in x86 and x64 processors, not ARM ones like in Sony Tablet S.
MAYBE it will be feasible to install Windows 8 RT in the future IF Sony unlocks the bootloader AND Microsoft allows instalation in non-sanctioned tablets.
(fat chance of any of them happening).
Still, I actually use Windows 7 in my Sony Tablet S every day. I use a program called Splashtop (special 5-min version for Sony in Google Play) that mirrors the screen of a Win7 machine. Works pretty well, I can even watch videos in it, close to real time.

As you alluded to, that is definitely NOT going to happen.
Microsoft have already stated that Windows 8 RT will not be publicly released, will only be available to OEMs and will not be backported to current hardware. Even if it was, drivers for the Sony's quite unique hardware set are definitely not going to be easily available.
Just to clear it up for everyone.

Teamviewer

Does anyone have any idea about teamviewer for Lumia 920 if there will be in the near future?
Also I sent a mail to teamviewer team but they still didn't respond to me.
Regards!

Have you take a look at RemoteDestop app on WindowsPhone store.
maybe a suitable alternative.

There are no alternatives on the Market so far. The only agreeable alternative would be LogMeIn, but that app too isn't on the Market
All these others cannot replace TeamViewer.
I'm connect to my PC with Mocha VNC or Remote Desktop, and then with Teamviewer to another PC.
HD7 with VNC --> My PC VNC -- My PC Teamviewer --> Other PC Teamviewer
TeamViewer on Windows Phone 8
We released TeamViewer for Windows Phone 8 earlier this week.
As soon as I heard about TeamViewer (3 days ago), I rushed to download it. Works like a charm. Thank u very much.
