microsd card: vfat issues - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi people
Very strange issue (google does not help). There is Galaxy S III 9300 Intl, with the latest stock 4.1.2, rooted. There are microsd cards (tested with 2). There is a number of media files. I am copying those files to the microsd card (does not matter - using MTP or pull microsd and then copy directly from PC). Then I am rebooting the phone. And ... vfat is broken. In particular, the directory "Russian Music" is renamed to µUSSIA~1 (I suspect, vfat is losing the long name leaving only 8.3) - and it is empty (was full of files downloaded from youtube). A number of files appear in LOST.DIR - obviously the names are useless like 132829, 133145 etc...
I disabled media storage. Tried to uninstall as many apps as possible.
Anyone encountered anything like that?

Files relocated with directory bind still counting against storage allocation

I hesitate to ask since other topics have adressed what seem to be related issues, so I anticipate being told to Google it, but none of the threads I've found have given solutions so I'm posting ...
I've used directory bind to relocate files to my ext sd 64 gb. I don't want to just swap my ext and int. It seems that some files, including those from Google Music cache and camscanner are still being counted against me in the system.
It's to the point that the total amount of space supposedly used exceeds the capacity of the drive. I'm attaching photos of what I'm directory binding and the storage report.
Can anyone please clue me in?

Why does my storage list UsbDriveX?

This has been bugging me since my d3 days. Why do my file explorers list USBDRIVES?
I've had this microSD card since myTF101 days.
Anyone know how to get rid of it?

These are the system mountpoints for USB drives. If you connect a flashdrive to the USB connector, it will appear at /storage/UsbDriveA. I use FX File Explorer, it doesn't list them on the main screen unless something is mounted ( of course they still appear if you look under the /storeage directory ).
Good to know. I thought they were physical locations on my external sdcard or something.
Thanks.

[Q] Swapping External SD for Innternal Storage

OK I've tried several different things to try and make my external SD card be seen as my internal. I have tried different methods from you tube to forums. Link2Sd was my latest. I had no success with the main app i want to be used on my SD card. The app I'm trying to move is RDIO. This app lets me download music to my phone and use it only through the app when i have no internet. My regular storage capacity is so small it takes all i have for a little bit of music. My phone is rooted. Any help would be appreciated. My phone is a LG G3 Vigor.

Xposed is your friend
You may have to edit build.prop
Code:
#Simulate sdcard on /data/media
#
persist.fuse_sdcard=true
Change to false, maybe I wont test, because I don't have internal sd backed up

I formatted my phone, but I copied my entire Titanium Backup folder to my computer.

Can I somehow restore using this? I literally have a folder on my desktop with a ton of .properties, .tar.gz, and .apk.gz files. Can I get all my apps back from this or is it impossible?
Hi Byyz,
Not sure which is your phone, has it only internal memory or also external storage via micro-SD ?
It shouldn't be an issue as long as you respect the same folder logic prior formatting.
->Get your system back to your phone
-> Install Titanium and check where it gets installed, most probably on the internal memory
-> Copy that TitaniumBackup folder to your device
-> You can chose in Titanium where to look for the TB location: Go to Backup/Restore - Preferences - Backup Folder Location

Question Why 16 folders are being automatically created by Android 13, when inserting a microSD card in your Android ?

Hi, When inserting a microSD card in my Galaxy A7 Lite, 16 folders are being automatically created by Android, without asking me anything :

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
Why these 16 empty folders have been automatically created by Android ?
.$Trash$/

Alarms/
Android/
Audiobooks/
DCIM/
Documents/
Download/
LOST.DIR/
Movies/
Music/

How can I prevent this, when you use a microSD card like a USB key, to exchange data with friends ?
Why no folders gets automatically created my Android when inserting a USB-C key in the USB-C port of my Galaxy Tab ? Regards
