"Android is upgrading" on every boot after 4.1.2 update. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yesterday,I updated my gs3 to 4.1.2 using kies.I was rooted with chainfire's exynosabuse.apk but before I upgrade,I unrooted. Now, everytime I reboot I get the "android is upgrading" message. After searching for a while,it turned out that the system wipes dalvik cache on every boot but why is it happening ? I didn't have any root apps installed at the moment of upgrading except for exynosabuse which I also removed thinking it might solve the problem but it didn't. It doesn't bother me too much, only a 2 or 3 more secs in boot time but it is still kinda annoying.

bump..
i also have the same problem..

Just preform a factory reset and reinstall your rom
This should solve your problem.

I am not sure but I think it's related to ODEX, DEODEX, ZIPLIGN or something like that.
I have been experiencing it as long as I can remember!

The problem solved itself after a few days.Maybe it's something implemented by Samsung after installing an update? Lol.

Anybody try resetting their phones to factory settings? Boot in recovery, then use vol+/vol- and select wipe data.

I'm on OTA ICS VZW and it does the same thing.
Both mine and my wife's were doing the same thing so I did Factory Data Resets on them and now it has stopped. This was in stock ICS on Verizon.
factory reset via recovery should fix this

Camera reboot

Good morning guys. I'm having trouble with my Samsung galaxy SGH-I777. Every time I open an app that uses he camera (ie camera, barcode scanner, flashlight, camera) he flash goes off then it just reboots he phone. I've already done a factory restore. I even went into recovery mode and wipe cache and did a restore from there. I've also just downloaded the new ICS update and it still didn't fix the problem. Please help
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
when you say factory restore does that mean you completely wiped the phone and flashed back to stock rom. If not, that's what I would do to determine if we're looking at a hardware or software issue.
No I didn't flash it back to stock. How would I even do that?

OK I flashed a new rom but it didn't work. Flashed back to ics still doesn't work

I would flash back to stock. If it still does it, bring it in to at&t service center and show them. They can give you a replacement. Or you can call them. Just make sure your on non rooted stock firmware.
a full wipe and reflash is required before posting any problems. because99 % of the time it's user error. Did you fully wipe system, cache, data, and run the kernel cleaning scriptbefore posting this issue?

Yes. I did a full wipe and restore. Installed a new rom and still nothing can I maybe install a new camera apk?

IF this is happening across roms, and assuming correct firmware, with a clean install (factory reset, no misc apps installed) then I'd say you have a hardware problem. If you've flashed incorrect firmware then a reset won't help you until you flash back to the correct firmware. Of course all of this moot if its physical damage caused by dropping the phone or maybe water damage. If you're completely stock and haven't subjected the phone to any physical abuse, then return the phone for a new one.

Phone is rebooting several times

Hi all,
I have tried to install several roms on my I9100 phone.
Sometimes the roms are working for a couple of hours and than it starts to reboot continuously...
All other times it reboots every couple of minutes...
I already installed several roms:

My phone is rooted, CMW has been installed and i tried to clear all caches and did a factory reset as well.
Do you have any ideas?
Did your phone reboot like that while using the stock ROM?

- The make of your phone. There are many different variants of your device. I9100 G/M/P/T -> I9100
- Are you rooted/unrooted? -> rooted
- What rom you are using? -and- What kernel are you using? -> CMW 5.1
- Have you flashed any mods/scripts/themes? -> NO
- Have you done anything to try to solve your issue? -> Re-installed ROM, deleted cache, factory reset
I used to have this problem + sod like crazy rendering my phone unuseable. Sent my phone into Samsung 2 times for warranty and both times it came back with the same issues. I then decided to reformat my external sd and boom, problem solved never had sod or reboots since may this year. I'm not sure if this will work for you but it worked for me. Give it a try you got nothing to loose

Reboot problem

Every time I restart my phone just after the boot animation I get the "optimising apps" screen and it continues to optimise 61 of my apps.
I have no idea why it is doing this but it's getting very annoying. It takes ages just to reboot my phone.
Anyone have this issue? Or know how to fix it?
Thanks in advance

Do you have a app installed that every time clean your cache and dalvik cache when you restart your phone?
I mean something like system tuner pro or so.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Not as far as I can tell.
I have SD Maid but I have been using it for months and this has only just started.
It's different to wiping dalvik cache though, if I do that then when I reboot I get a screen saying 'android is upgrading' and it installs 110 apps.
This message is 'optimising apps' and it only does 61 of them.........
I just can't figure it out

Oke,what rom are you on,and is it rooted?
Also do you have flash any tweaks or apps from another rom, like popup browser.

I'm on stock DLJ4. the only tweak I have is V6 Supercharger, and some status bar icon mods. But these shouldn't effect it
Have you upgraded your stock rom OTA?
Same things happened to my sgs3 after OTA upgraded.
I flashed rom again by odin. That updating message was gone ever since.

Rebbot after screen turned off

Hi guys, I have this weird problem.
Today I bought a S3 from a guy.
When the phone screen turns off because i don't use it, it doesn't wake and reboots.
When I use it, and screen is on, never reboots.
What to do?
I flashed the newest ROM and the problem still exists
R: Rebbot after screen turned off
Have you done a factory reset before flashing?

Yes, I did
R: Rebbot after screen turned off
I mean a real factory reset, not the one found in samsung's settings, but in clockworknod's.
Just root, install clockworkmod, factory reset and flash a custom rom or a samsung stock rom edited to run on rooted s3.
If you've already done that, might also try dalvik cache format...but i dunno how much help it can be.
