Endless Bootloop - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

My phone is stuck in an endless bootloop. It gets to the Samsung logo, and then goes back to it after a few seconds. I am running the Eclipse ROM atm, and I can't boot into recovery either. It just hangs at the boot screen for the recovery, and reboots.

Prepare the PC for a flash to stock via Odin...
Then push and hold volume down, and power...
Continue to hold until the device vibrates 3 times,(15 seconds) then release...after the third vibration....
You should now be in download mode..
Push the stock image to the device...
Then push CWM recovery again to the device via Odin...
Boot the device into recovery mode, and wipe all caches, dalvik included...and data included...
then you can reflash your backup, or a new rom....g

Uh oh.....
Okay...first things first..
Have you done a battery pull yet ? to turn off the device ?
If yes, and it boots itself back on, then you have a stuck power button..
If the device stays off, then try booting into recovery from the phone off state...g

Yes, I tried a battery pull. It boots itself back up when I put the battery in. The power button doesn't seem to be stuck though, it feels fine.

power button is stuck in the depressed position...(not good)
The device needs a button repair, unless you are feeling up to taking the device back cover off...
There are several threads on this subject, and searching is the best way to find them...
Stay in the general QA section for our device when searching, and i'll look around as well for the proper threads as reference...
It's a pretty simple fix, and we have some video assists on youtube as well i believe...
I'll post links here as i find them...g

Yep....
Been reading several threads, but no direct "how to" threads...
Also many threads on how to remove the inner cover for repair...
Unless you just want to haul it to a repair shop for a button fix.....but i'll bet it just stuck...(common issue on the note1...g
Edit: is it under any type of warranty ??

It is, but it's rooted with a custom ROM :/

Well....
thats a potential problem....if you get caught..
but if you take the phone apart yourself, warranty gone...
So you have two choices....
I would personally take the chance, and fix it myself, by a careful back cover removal. but if the device is broken, and not stuck, then you are worse off than when you started.
best choice, send it in....IMHO....g

Bricked Vibrant, need help...

I have never bricked it before, and I cannot go into download mode... I tried the the Vol up and vol down, didn't work, so I have been using ADB and just ****ed something up....
Now I need to know a way how I can revert back to stock, please and thank you, I will forever owe you one.
EDIT: Okay there is some confusion, to simplify it I will take it step by step:
I replaced an APK file from my system/apps and ever since it has been force closing process.android.acore, so I tried reflashing to stock, it froze while doing so now I have a picture of a caution sign, a phone and a computer coming up on my Vibrant, it will not start up.
It is hardware locked because I have never been able to access download mode via hardware keys(I have always been using ADB).
Is there any way I can reinstall stock? Or is my vibrant now destroyed?
what exactly were you doing when your phone stopped working? "just ****ed something up" makes it hard to pinpoint problems...
I don't know I replaced my phone.apk with another one then ever since then it keeps saying process.android.acore has stopped working. It wouldn't stop showing up so I tried to reflash with Odin to stock but it froze and now it is bricked.
bumping a little bit, I have never bricked it before so I have 0 experience.
What do you mean by froze? On what screen? How far can you get into booting?

Alright let me start over with more detail:
I tried to replace the dialer so I replaced the phone.apk and then process.android.acore kept force closing so then I tried reflashing with stock, during that I don't know what happened but I think my phone froze, so then it shut off and turned back on, I only found a screen with a computer on it... I am assuming it is bricked.... I also know it is hardware locked because I tried going into debug mode with vol up and vol down, how can I unbrick it?
Try moving the stock rom into the phones internal memory via adb. And flash it after a wipe.
I am Also having this same problem
I Flashed my Vibrant through Rom Manager to Froyo 2.2 from eugene373 and sombionix.
After flashing to both ROMS for Froyo I wanted to revert back to 2.1.
I tried to put sombionix 1.3 eclair ROM back on to my phone using clockwork mod.
The flash was not successful it stopped in the middle but the phone came on with a Force close error of an android process.
I tried to reboot through adb reboot recovery with usb debugging enabled.
The phone shut down like it would reboot into recovery mode and now it gets stuck on boot at the samsung vibrant screen.
I tried to use ODIN to flash back to the stock Rom but the phone is recognized in ODIN but will not flash.
ODIN sees the phone but will not get past flash analysis. (Sat for 8 Hours)
I believe this is the definition of bricked. Please Help!!!!!

If there is an answer, which I am not sure that there is, it would be here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782739. You may have already seen it, but if not it gives many different processes to try. Good luck!

Can you get the phone in download mode?
Did you try this:
Pull battery
hold the volume up and down
reinsert the battery whiles still holding down the volume up n down
plug in usb cord
it should put you back in to DL mode
Open ODIN and unplug phone from PC and plug back in hopefully it will notice it then.
I am not sure if you can get in DL mode and it just wont let you do anything, but if you have already tried this my apologies.

[q] help needed !!

Hi all,
I installed a kernel on my phone so that I was able to Root my device.
My phone was booting up and I saw the yellow explenation mark underneath the the Samsung Galaxy S II logo.
There's only one issue, my phone won't start, it freezes at the boot logo and won't do a thing :/
How can I fix this?
It freezes or is it in a bootloop?
If you got into bootloop, check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499
see this !!!

It won't enter in Recovery mode,
When i hold down home, power, and volume UP the bootup-logo (Samsung galaxy S II ''With Explenation mark) shows up, than dissapears for 1 second than shows itself again and it's just freezes like it did before.
Now I never heard about a Boot Loop but this looks very disturbing.
I need some help with this.
Jeezus Christ, you joined today and already posted in the wrong section, didn't bother to read or search. So on that note I HOPE your device is Bricked just to serve you a purpose of reading before hand.
However since you are unable to read or search, we will treat you like a child. Your device is not bricked. Turn it off, take out battery, unplug from computer. Put back in battery and press volume DOWN, power and home until you get into download mode. Then plug into computer, start odin and either reflash the kernel in PDA box, or flash a stock rom.
Now this is been covered numerous times, so I will ask again to read next time before you post a question that has been answered 10000x times over.
Also if you would have read anything at all, you would know that you will get the yellow triangle when flashing any kernel but a stock on. There is a way to get rid of it, but that requires searching and reading. Something you know nothing about.

At first I would like for you to tone it down a little bit, I searched down the whole Internet, I just didn't now under what name I had to search.
Since I don't know the name of this particular issue, I couldn't find it on this website nor on the Internet (wich is obvious). So I started a treath to release my question.
Before claiming and occusing me of something, aks me the questions first.
You're judging a book by it's cover and your arrogance blind you.
But i'm not here to occuse people of something or giving them names etc, I'm here for some serious bussines.
Now...
I saw your answer (possible solution) and I wan't to thank you for this, I will give this a try and keep this treath updated.

No it won't go in Recovery mode unfortunately.
I think my phone is bricked as I noticed the ''Phone...!...Computer'' logo when I tried to start it up.
Can happen, now It's just the challenge to find the solution.
Perhaps I should go to the store and tell them if they can help recover it.
If you got any suggestion what I should do it would be wel used.
In the mean time I will earch on the Internet and the forums how to unbrick the phone by myself.
Note - I still can enter Download Mode.

No,
It all happened after I installed a costum-kernel (The one that I need in order to root my phone) I followed the instuructions of a Youtube webpage.
I did root my phone before to try it out and it worked smoothly.
After I realised that I could so much once a SuperUser i wan't it to Root my phone again but it all went wrong when my phone was rebooting after I installed the costum-kernel.
I went into Download mode, I tried to install the latest firmware on my phone, yet it failed to do so, so i plugged out my phone, shut it off, turned it on and all of a sudden I saw the *Phone...!...Computer* logo wich (if i am correct) stands for a (Soft)brick.
I re-installed the costum-kernel and the Brick-Logo isn't visible anymore, but I'm back at the previous problem, The Samsung Boot Logo with Explenation Mark freeze issue.
Once I entered Download mode I noticed that Costum Binary Download is set to (Count 5).
I need a good tutorial how to fix this, I'm quite new with the Android (half a week)
Help is well appreciated.

You need to use odin to load a stock rom. You are not bricked, you are not on a bad situation, your phone will be fine once read about how to fix whatever you did. There are 9000+ threads on this same topic. I would tell you what to do here, but if you are not smart enough to google "how to unbrick vibrant" or simply read a few of the sticky threads ( those are the ones stuck at the top of each section ) I am not sure you are capable of following my instructions.
You need to odin jfd.
Beware of angry gingerbread man
Yeah what he said.. your kinda pathetic
I cant be completely useless though...
Open odin, try every method to get into dl mode or get recognized by odin.. youll get it eventually. If you don't know what to do after that, im sorry i even bothered to get you this far..

Ok Ill point out why you got the responses (rude).
Things you didnt include in your post:
What ROM are you on. (Froyo could mean any number of ROMs)
What where you doing when it happened?
What have you tried already to fix it?
Where have you searched for the answer already?
The nature of your post suggests you are not an experienced user, thus you had no reason to be flashing ROMs. This is NOT a rude comment. Im simply trying to make your next post for help fluent. The general mantra of these forums is if you wont make the effort to research and try and fix it yourself, why should anyone else?
Remember:
What where you doing when it broke? >> What have you researched to fix it? >> What have you tried to do and its outcome?
Hope the best for you.

If you are have you flashed CF-root kernel?
How did you try to install the rom?
More info and then more people can help you out buddy..see if you can get into recovery and restart your phone.
well... if you've tried "every" (its not like there are a lot) button combination... then just go buy a jig from ebay and force it into download mode...

Nothing from what you said would help..
He obviously flashed it with Odin, and he said he's getting a yellow triangle with a computer behind it..
From what I understood, he could get into download mode.
So just boot into download mode and flash stock ROM. That should do it.

anyone else seeing an increase in the "i bricked my phone" threads?
dont think its coincidence they are increasing after the american variants have been released. People need to check what model they have before flashing things.
OP: not saying thats what has happened to you as you dont say if you have the i9100 or not, hopefully you do.

well from what he said by his post did not make sense at all..hence why i asked for more details to explain so i could give him a better explanation and guide to fix his problem...but you seem to get what he said so by all means do your thing....but if he comes back with more detail then i will point him to the right direction on what he needs to do...at the end of the day the more opinions he has the better for him

its ok and same goes by my post as well buddy..we all been in his position one way or the other
1st - Your phone is not bricked if it show an image. Whatever image it is. The only real software way to brick your phone is to flash bad bootloader or stop a bootloader while they are being flashed. However, Bootloader are flashed first. So if your phone stoped half way, you should not have trouble too much.
Remove the battery from your phone for like a minute, then reboot your phone in download mode (vol- + home + power and when the phone light up, release power.) Then flash another rom from odin.
Also, what rom did you used ? If you flashed a rom for another phone, then you might have flashed bootloader for that phone on yours, which is bad. In this case you will surely need a JIG.
sorry im new to this whole rooting/flashing thing. i downloaded the lightning rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274
i have never rooted or doneanthing to my s2 before. all i did was follow the instructions on the page and thought it would be all good? it froze about a quarter of the way there in odin so i just took my phone out.
I usually find from this state I can get back to bootloader or download states
push and hold vol+ and home then power for bootloader
push and hold vol- and home then power for download
sometimes the phone can seem to freeze a little or even die (this happened to me loads on the galaxy s and once already on the s2) and removing battery sim etc or attaching the charger can jog it
however as other have said a JIG is your friend if for no other reason that even if you recover without it, custom roms up the rom count which some twitchy carriers might invalidate your warranty for, the jig will reset this
you can get them from ebay for less than £3 delivered, or there are instructions on this site for making them yourself if you are so inclined.
simply search 'galaxy s2 jig' on ebay mine was delivered today from portugal as I am way too lazy to make one and only wanted a counter reset anyway

Phone not booting after Odin fail (Galaxy A21s)

Hello guys,
I flashed the Android 11 firmware on my Samsung Galaxy A21s (SM-A217F) using odin. The progress didn't finish successful because of an fail.
Now my phone seems to not boot anymore. It shows the "Samsung powered by Android" - Screen and after this nothing more is happening. It's not possible to fully start the device. Also downloadmode doen't work. Connect the phone to PC doesn't work because phone is not turned on.
Is it possible to install OS/ROM/firmware with an SD-card or otherwise?
Do you have any other ideas to safe the phone und make it running again?
Please bear with me if the topic already exists and I didn't find it in the search. I apologize in this case and ask for reference to the forum post.
Thanks a lot!

Welcome to XDA. I hope you'll always get the support you require.
However, prior to your next posting please read the guidances that are stuck on top of every forum like

download mode will work again once device left boot-loop. shutdown can be achieved by draining battery or long press power

well, that's not true. this device requires high skills and hair dryer - I do strongly not recommend this
just wait few weeks for the battery is drained

I will give it a try, if there is no other option.
But is my phone really in a bootloop? I don't think so. In the loop the Android-screen shows again and again. In my case, it only shows once including vibration and after this the screen turn off again. No second boot. The phone seems to turn off again.
In this case it will take ages to let the battery be empty.
yes that's boot-loop
if device would have powered off you would see charging animation when plugged..
according to this factory reset will solve?
Fingerprint sensor after update
Just installed UPDATE for A22. Fingerprint sensor not working any suggestions?

I've tried it. The is truely no charging animation.
So now I need to let die battery die and once that happend booting into download-mode is possible again?
Why did u try to flash using odin in the first place?
don't nail me but I believe buttons for download mode are read from ABL (aboot.mbn) it's very unlikely that OTA or stock ROM caused corrupted bootloader...
you can see Samsung logo, guess that means aboot is alive
@Verspot pointed out it requires vol dn + vol up + usb cable to enter download mode (imho bit unusual)

The mentioned button combination is the one I used to get to download mode before I flashed the firmware.
Now the button combination is not working.
It will not boot to recovery or the download mode.
Yes but what I meant the usb cable is important (instead pwr button) - obviously you did it right before, just wanted to clarify intentionally/unintentionally.
The error screen "fingerprint protection failed." suggest it can not read fingerprint so I guess your phone stucks somewhere beyond aboot, that's why it does not work
after doing some more research I have bad news for you:
found two other sites with same issue "fingerprint protection failed" (in espanol and nepalese) both suggest bricked bootloader which can only fixed by JTAG or ISP.
If that's true I recommend RMA to Samsung there is a good chance they treat as hardware failure (don't tell anything)

I don't like to hear that but after nothing so far worked, I expacted something like that.
Is my idea to boot the phone from an SD-card (like booting windows from USB-drive) and reinstall Android Firmware nonsense or is it somehow possible?
