Hello everyone,
I wanted to root my device so i can install cyanogenmod in my phone.
My phone is an Galaxy S2 International version from T-moblie NL.(its unbranded, but has tweaked firmwire and kernel made my T-mobile.)
So i have searched alot about my device and how to root and flash, but i cant sort it out.
Model number: GT-I9100
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: I9100BOLP7
Kernel version: 3.0.15-1056084
[email protected] #3
SMP PREEMPT Fri Aug 24 17:36:36 KST 2012
Build number: IMM76D.BOLPM
when typing in *#1234#
PDA: I9100BOLPM
PHONE: I9100BOLP7
CSC: I9100TNLLP8
Build info: Fri Aug 24 17:14:30 KST 2012
Now you know what my information is, can i tell what i am planning.
I would like to root my mobile for the first time by flashing SiyahKernel S2-v5.0.1 whit odin3( this was the safest kernel?)
After that i wanted to install cyanogenmod 9.1 STABLE using CWM recovery (No bugs related to signal functions like: WIFI, 3G, GPS, BLEUTOOTH, MOBILE NETWORK?)
Is this the good method, or do i need to do it differently because i heard about bugs bricking up your phone and i defenitely wil be safe from that!
(I readed somewhere that i at first need to flash the offical samsung stock XEN android 4.0.4 because i have an tweaked version from T-mobile?!)
At last if i want to go back to stock rom, i only need to flash it whit Odin and then everything will be back the same?(kernel and ROM)
I hope you guys can help me, THANKS!

Flashing siyah will avoid brick bug on 4.0.4. Get got brickbug app from the store to check your chip's status.
If it says "No, Sane chip" you're off the hook, so you can flash whatever you want with it.
If not, your procceding is alright.
When going back to stock, you can either make a back up of your system right now or else flash a stock ROM via Odin. And yeah, it will be all good.
About your model, if you are packing I9100 international version, no need to go to that T-mobile ROM. Check under the battery to see what model you own.
About rooting, you can try ExynosAbuse (one click method) or try this.
need help whit sd-cart

You dont need Siyah kernal as you have CM9 custom kernel. However if you prefer Siyah you can flash Siyah via recovery like a rom. Go download Siyah kernel v4 (.zip).
What do you mean "will no connect the card", do you mean you cant browse to card contents via phone or do you mean you cant access them via USB? You need to be more descriptive when asking for help.

thank you for responding,
What i meant whit the sd card,
I have an External SD-Cart in my GS2. i have putted all my contacts, photo's, video's on it so i wouln't lose it while installing cm9.1
I already found the SD-cart by now but the content says its saved in /emmc found by root explorer.(how is this happened?)
because normally you would go to /sdcard/external_sd but there is says its empty.
i dont know if this is normal, would like to hear your comment about this,
thanks

Ignore the "external_sd" folder, This is just a left over shortcut from your Samsung rom. CM9, stock Android etc mount your external drive to other locations. This is normal and something you will have to get used to.
Also, no need to backup contacts as they are synced to your google account automatically. All you need to do is enter account details and they are downloaded back to phone.
cant get contacts back

I have a bell Galaxy S2. Today I rooted it and after hours of confusion, I finally managed to install resurrection remix 4.04 ICS on my phone.
So far I've run into tons of issues:
1) No GPS
2) No wifi (stuck on 'obtaining IP address, unlikely that this is my network's fault)
3) No software buttons, so I can't multitask (have to use task killer to kill unused apps right now)
4) Rom Control crashes everytime I go into the Navigation bar page
The phone in it's current state is useable, but I will go back to stock settings if I can't fix these problems. Maybe there is a better ROM out there? Though I heard resurrection remix is the best one. Also, could it be that I installed the wrong kernel? The one I installed is:
CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5
Can somebody help me out? Any tips would be appreciated.
EDIT: I just realized that USB connectivity (file transfer) doesn't work either - not even in clockwork menu!

Sounds like you might have flashed the wrong kernel for your phone.
did you first check what was the original kernel on your phone? acutally, run me through your root process so i can figure where you went wrong, because the Resurrection remix rom is just about perfect
I know it was KG2 kernel originally. Don't remember the other numbers.
I'm now on a different kernel because when I used KG2, the phone wouldn't work at all (the buttons were screwy).
The process went something like this:
1. Rooted KG2 kernel installed
>Phone still works like before, but rooted
2. Put Res remix rom on my phone's storage
3. Go into clockwork recovery
4. Flash/Recovery
Format /system
Wipe Cache
5. Install ROM from SD card - twice (since the video I was watching told me to do it twice)
>Phone turns on but the buttons don't work so I can't navigate menus
6. Install CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5
>Buttons sort of work now but lots of problems
>All of my old files/music are still on the phone despite all that format/recovery stuff. Is that normal?
Now when I try to install KG2 kernel phone doesn't even turn on. If it helps, the phone currently tells me the baseband is I9100MUGKG2
k, yep you missed the gapps install. did you make a backup in CMW recovery before you flashed remix?

Nope. But if I understand correctly gapps is just the google stuff (maps, gmail, etc) but that all works fine for me.

It's the I9100M (bell) and the Kernel before I started was KG2. I already mentioned this.
@kilometers4 that's the exact kernel I tried the first time (from that tutorial) but it didn't work.

Ok, some good news.
I installed the CF-ROOT KG2 kernel.
I went into recovery, formatted/wiped everything that needs to be done. (Then USB connectivity began to work!) so I put a 2.3 Cyanogen Mod on there and now everything seems to work (USB, WIFI) except for the home button. I still can't exit out of applications.

Yes but I can't find any other rooted kernels out there that will work for my phone. I've googled it but all the GS2 rood/mod tutorials I've seen use CF-Root.
If you can let me know what kernel or rom to install that would be great. I'm not going to touch my phone until I figure out what to do.

Why not start with a working phone + a nandroid backup before you start playing with roms .
Stock rom + CWM and root kernel = Nandroid backup .
If CM does not work then read the CM thread faqs and instructions .
jje
first of all get into reserection remix thread and ask whether this ROM supported for I9100M or not, if yes ask somebody can provide CWM flashable CM9 kernel (if it is the original kernel of your rom) then flash from CWM and try..

Have you tried to flash back to stock firmware, then re-root.
I know how to root and how to backup the phone. A other problem that comes up when I flash a rom is that it delete everything on the phone. But I learn from my miss takes, so I save to external SD card and remove it when I'm going to "play" with the phone.
I will check the dual thing up and see if that helps. But so far is it still rebooting to cwm or just going black...

Yes I have tried that with ODIN. It was still going to 3e> even tho the phone wasn't rooted. But it's mostly when I charge my phone, when the phone goes black or 3e> mode. I've scanned it both from the phone and computer for virus but nothing was found...
Hi All,
Okay, so recently I rooted my phone Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100T using Odin and this:
CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XSA_LP8-v5.4-CWM5.
Here is what it looked like before I rooted it:
PDA: I9100TDULPB
PHONE: I9100TDULP4
CSC: I9100TVAULP8
BUILD INFO: WED JUN 13 11:52:35 KST 2012
The after I rooted everything was working fine ect ect. Then my brothers phone (un- rooted) started getting random reboots, n it stopped working completely, (plugged into charger tried download mode) nothing worked. So me having a rooted phone I got worried cause mine was starting to do the same, so i un-rooted through SuperSU. Stuff seemed okay. However I still had the Yellow triangle n stuff at start up. Anyway so I decided what the heck, n now i wanted to re-root! But i cannot get it to work?
This is what the "About Phone" looks like now after un-root:
Model Nu:
GT-I9100T
Android Version:
4.0.3
Baseband version:
I9100TDULP4
Kernel Version:
[email protected] #3
Build number:
IML74K.DULPB
Can someone help me as to how I can re-root? I tried but Odin using this: CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XSA_LP8-v5.4-CWM5 but all i get in the box is:
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0).
Thanks, in advance .
You do realise you're in the Droid DNA thread right? However, if you do a search in google you will figure out other rooting methods. Personally I would do a full wipe and then flash a complete stock firmware with Odin click here for official firmwares link and then start over. You could also try another Odin based Kernel like Siyah. Alternatively, because you're still in fact using a compatiple kernel you can flash a custom ROM zip through CWM Recovery that is already pre-rooted (99% of ROMs) Just make sure to do a full wipe and wipe caches and everything will be fine
This is my phone:
Model: Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100
Android Version: 4.0.3

Kernel Version: 3.0.15-I9100XWLP7-CL340913

I've successfully flashed the "leaked" JB 4.1.2 ROM on my SGSII, just to see if I could do it - and then restored it back to ICS 4.0.3, with all my apps and data intact, using CWM recovery. While I had JB installed, I found that I couldn’t enable USB debugging, which made me nervous, as I know that a number of the utilities I’ve been using require it.
So my questions are these:
1. any ideas why USB debugging wouldn’t switch on, and what could be done about this?
2. if I were to do the JB thing again and keep it this time, could I use the same rooting mechanism that worked on ICS, and get all the apps and data restored - but this time running under JB? The package I used went by the name CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5 – it includes CWM Recovery.
3. or if not, what is the best way to restore apps and data in this scenario? I really, really don't want to have to restore all my apps and data one by one when I upgrade my phone.
Of course I could just sit on my hands and wait until the official release.... Where’s the fun in that?

Usb debugging wouldn't tick or you couldn't find it? I'm guessing it just would not tick up. Where did you get the JB leak? sammobile?
Maybe is just a bug, never heard that one before, you'll need to re-flash it.
There are a couple of ways to root JB, just have to search for them. You can always try ExynosAbuse and see if it flies.
Titanium back up pro is a hell of an app for backing & restoring your apps & data, you just tick 'em and click on back up/restore.
If you like going back and forth with stock ROMs tou can try Mobile Odin (It's got EverRoot option in the pro version), no risk of bricking there.
USB debugging - wouldn't tick in either of the versions I tried - one from sammobile, one from Stockroms.net - latter was a rooted version.
Titanium - have a backup using that, but it seemed like it didn't want to restore many of my apps, so I didn't try it.
What you mean TBU wouldn't restore your apps?

It was a couple of nights ago now - I got a message saying can't restore, so I chickened out. Can't remember the exact message any more, sorry. I'm going to have another go at this, but probably not for a few more days, and after a little more research.
Still worried by the "can't tick USB debugging" problem though.
Thats odd, makes no sense. Can you tick anything else in developer options?
You did tick "use developers options" right?
TBU always asks for usb debugging.

Hi Guys,
I seem to have got myself into a bit of a pickle and I really do not know how to get out of it!
First thing I should say is that the phone itself seems to work fine, other than the fact its marked as "modified" and as such cannot do OTA updates.
A little while ago I rooted my S3 with no issues at all.
I recently I thought I would flash back to a stock firmware so that I could upgrade to the latest version using OTA. So I downloaded the latest Firmware, fired up Odin and tried to flash it. Nothing, it gets as far as "Setup Connection" and then stalls, and stays there forever. I then tried upgrading to the latest version of Odin, still the same thing.
So I went back to basics, installed Samsung Kies, all the drivers etc and tried to connect using that. This is unable to connect also, I can however view and access the drives from my pc from within My Computer as I would expect.
Next up, I tried copying the firmware over to the phone and flashing using CWM. This starts to flash, and then comes up with a message saying "installation aborted".
I have tried, various combinations of USB ports and cables, and a couple of different firmware files all with the same result.
As a last ditch effort I also restored to factory settings from CWM and tried again, also didnt work.
Has anyone got any suggestions as to what to do now as I am at a complete loss!
I am not sure what information you need from me so I will just post below as much info as I can find on the phone!
