My last phone was a HD2. Great phone (Windows).
New One X+. Great phone, but I'm new to Android. All OK (great), but why no date/time stamp on camera? This is a problem. Just a general moan about something so basic I never thought to ask. My mistake.

Try the extreme camera mod, adds the ability to stamp date/location on the image and improves still and video quality locked at 30fps even in lowlight.
I should have said, I have had a all HTC (XDA) phones since my venerable SE T610: I'm not fickle, but need date/time stamp on photos - not an alternative App. Android please note.

I'm not quite following. Are you looking to print the timestamp on the photo itself? Otherwise, the data is always saved with the photo. If you have the stock camera and gallery (4.2, at least. I cannot remember the others), you can view it if you wish hitting menu -> details. If you upload it to an image site, then the data should also appear. Again, if you wanted it displayed on the photo itself, I do not understand why but can tell you that, yes, Android cannot do that by itself. But the purpose of apps is to expand the functionality and features regardless, so your refusal to use another app (that the user describes as possibly more useful) is a bit confusing.
I mostly shared that just because you seemed to be talking to the Android system, and I used the stock apps as an example. I do not know if HTC's camera and gallery made unnecessary changes.

HTCcamera JB plus Extreme v5.1 is a mod not alternative app, it added various and great features to your native HTC camera and one of them is the date/time stamp.
But the disadvantage of this mod is that you must have a rooted phone to flashed it.
Thanks

A quick thanks is always greatly appreciated!
Thanks for all the comments and advice.
I want to print the date and time on photographs produced by the Android camera. There are features that camera has that I want to use. My phone (HTC One X+) is not rooted. It is standard O2 issue. I know that some apps can do this but the resolution of the pictures are reduced.

Anyone else having a nightmare of a time with video recording? Compared to my original one x it's very choppy and loads of picture noise. Very very disappointed. Think I might sell it. I don't find anything else, apart from jellybean, worth the upgrade to be honest.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Hmmm i thought they might actually have tweaked the camera at least on the software side of things to make it better than one x but this turns out to be just the opposite ! Anyhow thanks because these days only real user opinions can be trusted not those reviewers !
I don't know what's going on, my HOX+ records very well... I have to guess if
1) users do something very wrong
2) there are some faulty devices out there
3) the want to troll the HOX+
Don't forget it's a smartphone and no DSLR, so you will need enough light for pics, but that's the same with all similar decives with this small sensors out there...
Mine is very very fast, get's warm but never in any way hot, battery life is great and recording of stills and video is excellent compared with other smartphones...

+1 for this.

I love my one x camera. Stills and video are great. The one x+ stills are not quite as good but I can live with it. It's not bad by any means but the video recording is very poor. Can't live with it like this. Going to do a factory reset and see if that helps. If not I'm going to try and exchange it. I'm thinking I might have a faulty device.

Maybe a third party video recording app can fix this?
Any suggestions for 3rd party apps?
I shouldn't have to rely on them but it's worth a shot.

You might want to try this one.
Thanks. Will check it out. And report back.

Just checked the app you suggested. It's definitely better. Love the fact you can alter the bitrate. It seems to solve the blockiness and noise. Although im only checking on my phone as I'm not at home to try it in my tv. Unfortunately the chopiness is still there. Most annoying. Will have to check more when I'm home. You guys who are having no problems, what are you comparing the video recordings too? Which phones?

Just an update.
I've exchanged the phone for a new one and the stock video camera is still definitely far inferior to the original one x. Not sure if it's just a software problem but I assume it is. Can anyone else with both phones confirm this to save my sanity please.

I'll try it tomorrow and report back.

Almost guaranteed to be a software issue. HTC just looooooves to compress the living hell out of everything without giving an option to remove compression.
Thanks. Try and compare on a tv if possible

I have the same problem with poor choppy video. I did a side by side comparison with the original HOX and the video is much better than the HOX+.
Anyone else having disappointing video recording on the one x+?
And also has anybody got any 3rd party camcorder apps to recommend? I'm using LG cam at the minute but it seems a bit buggy.

Are you looking at the videos on a tv or just the phone?

Agreed...mine is terrible too. Most certainly the software. Trying Procapture, as the app listed earlier in this thread just crashes when I click on the advanced options.

Thank god I'm not going crazy. Thanks for putting my mind at rest. I'm a bit worried that not enough people have noticed this to bring it to HTC,s attention.
Hope they fix it soon or I might just keep my one x and sell this.
Shame because I love everything else about the phone.

Hey all, quick question regarding cameras on Android phones.
What affects how fast the camera takes a photo? Is it software (app or possibly rom?), hardware(camera, ram, cpu), or something else? Just wondering, because I noticed my friends s3 take photos much faster, especially in regard to auto focusing (iphone as well). I have an HTC Sensation, and my camera takes much longer to take a photo. Any info or insight would be awesome!

Is there an app that will allow the pic in pic like the gs4 has? Where you can input your self photo via front facing camera while taking a pic with rear camera?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Yeah there is it's called buy an S4. Lol
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
To each their own but I can't see how that feature is useful. Not hating on the s4, my girl has it and it is great but when I was showing her everything it can do all she cared about was getting her dice with friends account working to continue her games. I couldnt get the gestures to work or the eye scroll thing to work. The only gimmick that is has that I like is the multi window feature. That and the whole designated menu button. I hate having to add the mod to enable a menu and get rid of that stupid three dot bar. If I wanted on screen buttons to take up more of my screen is buy a nexus phone.

I don't want an s4...just an app that can duplicate that one camera feature that is in fact fun to use. I handle both the One and the S4 all day at work. The feature is not worth getting the S4 over the One.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Hey everyone, I currently have a S4 and I'm about 85% sure that I'm going to exchange it today for a HTC One. My question to you all is do any of you know of an app that utilizes both the front and back cam like you can with the S4?
That's one of the main features I like of the S4...
HTC 3D has an mirror app, but that S4 app sounds better
s4 has a better app desigh for this function
No. I wish it had the multitasking feature where you can run two apps at the same time. But it is what it is. I actually am leaning towards getting the Google Edition of the GS4 so I don't have to deal with all the bloat and bs. Waiting half a year for my carrier to push my updates and bug fixes out.

Considering both the s4 and the HTC one have the same cpu it should not be impossible for a third party app. Think of the ability to have a video callwith both cameras enabled, it would be a battery juicer, but nice none the less

What would be the use to having both cameras operating at the same time? Just wondering.. i cant think of anything.. even video calls dont make much sense to me, how would both cams benefit a video call? You want the person on the other end to see you and what is in front of you? Not trolling, just inquiring..
It's actually a nice feature..it's on the S4 and I used it a lot ...especially with my kids.

This wasn't happening when I first got the phone but now it is happening all the time when I receive photos through messages. Downloading other sms apps doesn't work either. Please help if you can. What's the point of having such a big beautiful screen if I can't use it all.very frustrating

I'm coming from Sprint and the HTC EVO 4G LTE and I have to say I'm really surprised and disappointed by this. I was able to send 2MB pics via MMS over Wifi with my EVO LTE.
I'm not sure if it's an HTC or a T-Mobile thing, but I hope there is a fix for it.
Well t-mobile has a 1mb limit, so if the picture is bigger than that, it does get compressed.
HTC One™
For example: Original picture is 526KB with a resolution of 720X1280. As soon as it's added as an MMS it's automatically compressed to 63KB ... but the same resolution. Upon being the MMS being received it's been reduced to a resolution of 432X768. Size and resolution reduced considerably on a picture that does not exceed 1000KB.
It has to be a htc thing because everything I'm reading on has to do with the evo, the one, the one x, the one v. I started using hangout and that solved the problem. I don't wanna use it forever but it will do for now

It's a problem that has been with the HTC One since day 1. I've made a couple threads on it as have other people. I'd link them up but that's too much work from the ipad. Bottom line is there is no fix and receiving pics via mms sucks on the phone and the only option is to switch to a different one. . I think I'm actually going to pick up a s4 because it drives me crazy.

i never noticed this problem on my evo lte. not once. this is actually the only thing i hate about this phone. been using imgur to upload pics and share links instead of mms, but it stinks that i have to.
and this is why I use gmail to send pics
I've been experiencing the same thing with downsized MMS pics on my One. The people who send me MMS are all using iPhone's or other Android devices, and the pics all come through much smaller than I would expect.
Then today I received a MMS that had a much larger-sized and seemingly-higher-res photo. Interestingly, it was from my father, who is using an LG flip phone (not a smartphone). It's not an old phone, maybe a year, with a 3mp camera. But I thought it was odd that of all the MMS I get that are low-res, that his pics from his non-smartphone would actually come through in higher resolution. Just an interesting observation.
My device: HTC One on T-Mobile US, in Portland, Oregon
My father's device: LG flip phone (not sure model) on AT&T in Portland, Oregon.
Only person I really get MMS from are my fiance & she has a One also they come through like I took them myself.
