OMFG !
I'm dead if my mom gets to know about it.
It's just been a month , got my phone on my birthday .
Tried to flash a generic neo v rom posted by doomkernerl ... Flashtool gave an error.
Then when i tried to switch on my cell , it just vibrated and nothing was displayed.
When connected to pc , green led is on.
i tried to install the firmware "4.0.1.A0.283" via flashtool but it gives me error.
flashing aborted....then it says device disconnected.
some one help..
PS:sorry for posting another thread.
Had this too when I tried to root my Neo, which was a birthday gift aswell, after a month. I know what you going through, stay calm and read the forums well

ICS on the XPS is great imo, and there's many ROMs that you can now flash even with a locked bootloader. Very useful script for any new users. :good:

flashtool does not root or unlock bootloader of your device until you do it by your own.
It is a tool to install firmwares on Sony Xperia Devices.
So do not worry about it thanks to neectron for a helpful thread on Sola Development Section

Is it safe to upgrade to ICS? I am very confused? i have done this before but I dont wanna take risk with me new phone. Is this ICS update bug free?
And if something went wrong can i go back to my origional software?
No there isnt any risk
Ucs is always better in all means than gingerbread..
But at the same will consume a bit more ram..
Nothing goes wrong normally..
Its safe and if sumthing goes wrong flash back to gb using flashtool..
Otherwise no prob..

Obviously cause the ramdisk image is different so its stuck on bootlap...
You need to compare kernels and alter the ramdisk!! Not an easy job...

Sola JellyBean
one thing that i cant understand , sony wont be releasing JB for U and Sola because they have 512 Ram and 480x854 resolution . while Xperia J have the same Ram and resolution but with a single core low end processor and an old Adreno 200 and they released JB on it. please explain .
Xperia J has Adreno 200 which uses less RAM than Mali-400, hence Xperia J is updated and sola and U are not.
Lol!! Sony's marketing & business strategies didn't let it...
Sony sold many Solas & U and achieved its target of selling those devices now they don't care a sh!t
But they cdnt sell that much of Go & P and had to support its newer sh!tty configuration phones like J & E to keep up , it released JB for em and gave lame excuses for Sola & U!!
Its all business not compatibility & performance issues like Sh!tony says...
Cheers!!!

1) The disadvantages are that you will loose bravia engine and you will void your warranty. The only reason you should unlock your bootloader is for installing custom kernels.
You can relock your bootloader via flashtool. This way you will have your warrranty back but you will not get back bravia engine as far as i know because you will loose DRM keys.
2) The rom you are using if for all bootloaders. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to boot system
3) You can unlock your bootloader even if you are on a custom rom but i suggest you to take a backup and install the stock firmware.
4) My opinion is that if you don't want to install custom kernels, cm10 or cm9.1, just leave the device as it is now mate.
5) Don't mess with things that you don't know because you may regret. Unlock bootloader only if you want to install the custom kernel or cm9.1 or cm10.
6) Here you will find a tutorial on how to unlock your bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
Should work on xperia go also.
Didn't make a separate thread as I got the same doubts.
I am using Xperia sola , rooted with stock ICS.
I want to eventually use a stable JB ROM.
I am not worried about losing warranty.
I want to know about the DRM keys.
Is there a way to backup or save "DRM keys"?
And then restore them when I want to relock bootloader?
