Do the visible screen dots on the Optimus G bother anyone else? I noticed them today when there was a lot of sunlight shining on my phone. I saw them on several HTC devices in the past (Inspire, Flyer, etc) and it never sits right with me.
By comparison, there are no dots visible on the iPhone 5, Galaxy S III, Note II, Lumia 920, or many other phones that I have.
Maybe I'm just anal and/or nitpicky.
I've seen them and they don't bother me at all.

I thought that I replied to another post exactly like this. Anyways. Its part of how they place a cluster of touch points and they matrix them together. Those are kind of the way the screen gives you a multi touch screen and to make it work past 2 fingers.

I suppose because everyone is different. Just like nails on a chalkboard irritate some people, but not others.
Since I have seen many great screens without the dots, I always wonder why any of them have them. Is it a cheaper manufacturing method? Inferior materials? Why do they need to be there on the Optimus G, but not on the iPhone 5 or Droid DNA?

And since every device screen has sucked for me in the sun, I don't care at all.
I'm not going to be watching a movie on the beach (or taking the phone anywhere near a beach for that matter), so I don't see how it matters at all.
Can you actually see them indoors/when you are actually trying to use the screen for something other than a call or text?
Yeah I remember getting the Inspire and seeing all the dots and thinking it was pretty cool xD
Then the other day I noticed this phone had them (albeit it much less in comparison).

I watched the LG CES 2013 trailer video thing on youtube, and general speculation is that the G2 will be announced with a 5.5" screen and bumped up specs from our precious G. What are your thoughts? Will it be a Note 2 competitor, or a G replacement? And how do you think it will affect our updates?
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
I could never use a phone that big, and I carry a purse.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
This phone is already a note 2 competitor
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
Powerwise yes, but the note has a far larger screen. A 5" + screen would make it a closer competitor. See LG intuition for where I'm coming from.

Agreed, minus the purse. I have large hands and having tested a Note 2, I think the LGOG, and phones of the same size for that matter, have reached the optimal size for traditional use, IMO.

It's called competition. The Note phones have proven there is a market for phablets. I'm going to guess you're not studying economics or business.
I returned my Note 2 in under a week. It is too damn big.
I'll be at CES next week. Hopefully there will be something interesting to comment on.

Then I guess this will blow your mind: http://t.co/91c3vTNA
I believe with LG's newfound success regarding the G, a direct attack on the Note would be fantastic, as well as possibly a new tablet. The G2 would fulfill the phablet competition that currently hardly exists. The LG Intuition is too wide, but a form factor like our G with the larger screen would be fantastic. Add a pen display, as well as having quickmemo, and the Note has real competition. Considering LG Displays is suing over the Note 10.1 in Asia, this may indeed be their plans in a nutshell. As HTC slowly falls (sad but apparently true), it's time for Samsung to have a true competitor in the Android market. I would love to see Motorola to come out of the blue, but that seems doubtful to happen. LG has an opening, and I think they should take it. I've been a Samsung fan, and still somewhat am (the siii disappointed me), but I think nothing makes products better like competition. The iphone is competition of course, but there needs to be android competition, or devices will get progressively worse.

If it is actually 5.5 inches then I don't mind even if it is technically the successor to this phone. Only thing id like in this phone that the g2 has is the 1080p screen and the camera if its any better

... I'm not talking about tablets. If I was talking about screens in general, I would be complaining about laptops, desktops, and tv's as well. But I'm not. It's a personal opinion, and a personal opinion of a few others, that a phone doesn't exactly need a huge screen. To each his own if they prefer that size. Apple has a ridiculously tiny screen, so I'm not really sure why they were even brought up lol. Considering I'm a girl, I have naturally smaller hands and have no desire to hold a phone that I need to doublefist. And even some men agree, it's too much.
No reason to be so nasty, Butler. (;

Sorry, not trying to be nasty. Just trying to point out that just because you (and for that matter, I) have small hands doesn't mean that everyone does, or that there's only one size that the market wants (as Apple seems to believe). Everyone thought Sammy was crazy for putting the Note out there, but since it and its followup have been very successful, it's only natural that other OEMs want a piece of the action. I'd like the big screen (even if I did have to double fist it), but there's no way I'd be comfortable having that thing in my pocket, and I'll be damned if I'm wearing a holster for a phone.
I'll be honest, I can't reach the whole screen of the OG with one hand, but I don't care. I arrange my icons to be close to my thumb, and use two hands when I have to.
Didn't mean to offend.

Except not, haha. I guess I'm in luck with the whole small hands + long fingers thing (my grandma has always told me I have piano fingers). My only fears of extending my fingers is that it slips out of my hand and falls on the ground. I have a case, but I still use at least one hand to balance it. Can't get too ballsy with this phone.

Hello,
I really like the Note 2, I've gone back to it two times already, once from a Iphone 5, and the 2nd from a Lumia 920. The lumia 920 was great for photos, but the windows UI was extremely boring. I hardly use the S-pen as well, I just like the big screen. But I do have a small wifi problem with my note 2 right now, in which a new replacement is coming in soon. Any Note 2 users out there planning to ditch and get the HTC One?

Over the past year I have carried every major new phone in AT&Ts lineup and this is the first one I have been truly excited about. I haven't been able to put it down. The Note 2 was significantly better than the Note, but can't hold up the jock strap of the One. Screen size is the only this the Note has going for it, the screen resolution on the One is ridiculous and more than makes up for the size.
Quality over size. And yes, that is what she said.

HTC one look and feel are amazing. (Its much better than IPHONE 5 in my view). But the Screen Brightness disappointed me so much. Our 50-60% brightness is equal to 100% on HTC one. I was really exited about HTC one...But after the above mentioned issue I think I will skip it.
the one wins hands down in the camera department. it has the ability to capture light unlike the optimus. however you can't really take pics outside the social pics scene with the one

I don't know what those numbers mean (Or how they got those)... But LGOG 50-60% is HTC one's 100%. The picture in OP was 100% and 100% on both the devices. I'm not a fan-boy of LGOG.. In fact I thought of selling my phone and getting HTC one... But when my friend got HTC one... I was really happy that I did not make that mistake after seeing his phone. I don’t know why some of you think I don’t have both devices on 100%... If you doubt it, go to nearest AT&T Store and check side by side... I guess they intentionally made it that way to save more battery. (That’s my guess)

hey man! i love the phone..amazing screen. quicker than my GS4. some bits of lag that annoy me (theres lag when going back to teh home screen..seems as if the launcher redraws every signle time, but it freezes movement so you don't actually SEE the redraw.)
the one was a great phone, and i loved my DNA..but the camera on both were meh. i played with a one in the store, and while it's great, and those spekaers rock, the screen was too small.
the speaker is nothing special on the G2, to be honest. there's some kind of built in limiter/compressor that you CAN'T turn off, which sucks, because it makes music sound kinda crappy over it. haven't tried headpohnes yet.
over all, fast, awesome phone though with a great screen.

def! i'm seeing mike D and scott around too, so who knows, we might get some good stuff going over here.
the lag i believe is simply the launcher handling refreshes. it's not always there, but sometimes hwen you go back home and try to switch pages irght away, it doesn't do anything, then it moves over very choppy.
Nice bro! Cleanroms r always good. And Mike D is a badass too.

Holy crap, I was watching NFL network, and saw the led light up on a phone during a commercial. I was like ohhhh ****. First LG commercial I've seen yet. Cool. I think at least.

Yeah I saw it last night on Comedy Central. I think they're pushing the whole index finger back button thing too hard though. I actually like the buttons, but the ad campaign feels gimicky. I guess their hand was forced by Samsung and people losing their **** over holding their finger over the screen and waving away home screens. I guess that's what gets the masses excited though so what can you do. It gets under my skin a bit though.
They should be making a bigger deal about 'knock-on' then the buttons in the back imo

Totally agree. I rarely use the power button or the volume buttons.
Lol, me too. I freaked out, went to work the next morning and told everybody that this new phone I got, that I'd shown everybody the day before, had a commercial on NFL network! They couldn't have cared less. They cared about as much as they had the day before when I showed off the phone. Like when I show off all my phones. Sad me. This is the only place where I can talk about my hobby and even here it's mostly negative. But not in this thread! Found someone who was as excited as I was!

To many ppl still think apple is the pinnacle of mobile devices. Because there are more not knowledge ppl then actually ppl that know that it isn't since a while already and that android surpassed them software wise already since a long long time.

Knock on is not a big hit, every cheap Chinese smart-phone nowadays has it

LOL... The first one is great! The number of times I've heard my wife say "Ugh... this PHONE!" when something happens during a call. (She has a GNex, I usually upgrade first to "scout" the devices.)

I saw a lg g2 commercial too. It was ok but it looked like a promo video i have seen before. I just hope that LG keeps putting up the marketing to promote this phone. I think a lot of ppl are still afraid to try LG because of their mid range phone past.

I thought there were funny. Makes you remember the commercial and the G2
I'm not sure about you guys, but I feel like the majority of commercials have been aired during NFL network time (ABC, CBS, Etc..) slots. Does that say something about who they are trying to market this phone to? Men?! haha. But who knows, maybe I only see the commercials during NFL games because that's about all I watch on Television right now.
