Went to AT&T store to buy a Note2 with my 50% off work discount. Their system says my discount is 50% off NEW lines. (Which is stupid because then it's more than new line price AND totally different of what my paper from work says)
So, anyways, now I'm on the hunt for something else. BTW: The prices for GN2 and GS3 on Craigslist is INSANE!
I came into this forum with Angst from the other Asshat filled sections of XDA and found a great group of helpful people! (Especially FJ, one of the coolest devs I've ever interacted with!!!) Hopefully I added in something somewhere along the lines.

HTC one x you can get for a very reasonable price just have to deal with piss poor battery life(my own personal experience maybe you will have different experience) also if you have 350 from your og note you should be able to find a gs3 for not that much more maybe like $50 more on eBay. You may miss the big screen(as if 4.8 is small Lol) but the amount if development on the s3 more than makes up for it.

I had a somewhat simular experience when I bought my Note. The sales rep at the first AT&T store I went to told me I was not yet eligible for an upgrade, based on whatever database he consulted. That was different from what my previous sales receipt said. Rather than argue I went to a different AT&T store in another part of town and found a sales rep that would listen to my side of the argument. She called the mother ship to talk to someone with the right authority and kept the conversation going until I got the Note I wanted. Based on that experience I would suggest trying a different location. Reliance on finding a sympathetic sales rep is NOT a business model I would condone, but this time that strategy worked.

With the exception of the screen size and s pen(if you even use it) gs3 is better phone in my opinion. You should flash illusion 4.2.1 ROM by itsmikeramsey. Damn near perfect

Fj released an update on his ICS rom on the 19th. Yea I know it's an ICS rom but since we still don't have official JB and there's rumors JB is right around the corner I think the devs are just waiting.

So I was helping a guy at the home depot I work at. I saw the Guy had a S2 skyrocket and asked him how he liked it, then I showed him my Note I just got. Turns out he works for AT&T corporate. He new about the Note but wasn't really familiar with it, so I got my gadget geek on and showed off what the Note can do and then talked about the network around Atlanta.
So I went into work for an hour today to help out on a special order and I had a message with a contact number. So I call and it's someone from at&t, she told me that Guy I helped was so impressed with my knowledge and passion on mobile that he gave the info he had on me to her. Now she wants me to come in and discuss opportunities with business sales. It's face to face stuff mostly (not a call center).
Update: Got an interview on Tuesday at one of their corporate offices.
Update2: So I interviewed with them on Tuesday and it went very well. They said they have some in house promotions about to happen in a few weeks to a month and they would be contacting me again when they know more about the upcoming opens on their floor. It would be a 8-5 job with base salary and commission with business sales in the mobility division.
"Buy a galaxy note, get a job offer."
New marketing campaign.

I could sell the sh*t out of some phones. Haha. It's funny how uninformed the sales clerks are at some stores. I literally saw an At&t employee trying to sell an iPhone to a guy based purely on Siri, and couldn't even get it to work. Her explanation was that "it just doesn't work sometimes, but it's still a really great feature"
Sad thing was, the guy walked out with an iPhone that day. If only I could have saved his poor soul...

I had a post about this the other day and I totally can agree... its bad how they will hire people who don't know what they are doing but you get a bad rap from the go ernment and they wont hire you even though it was in the general basis... I went to three different att and a bestbuy asking he managers about the note not even two weeks ago and they acted like I was talking about space travel -.-

This actually happened to me too! Except not with a Galaxy Note and not AT&T but Verizon! I knew more than the guy they were training and actually troubleshooted a customer and the regional sales manager offered me a job! Too bad I don't go to school where I live :/

No he Just remembered my name and gave a description of me to a coworker and she called my HD and left a message with a number to contact her. I didn't know what it was for when I called. Then she telling me that I impressed this Guy so much and asked me if I would be interested in changing careers.

Got my interview scheduled and she asked me about being able to work full-time. So I think that's a good sign.
Sad to say my gf traded her note yesterday after paying retail for it 4 months ago, she traded for an iPhone. :banghead:
But here's the deal. She traded thru craigslist, we all met at att to get new sim cards, i told my gf to drop the ins on the note (I sat in the car) when she was done she said the clerk was trying to reset it because it was used and because its jail broken, the reset was talking forever so they aborted. The clerk than said that they can transfer the ins from the note to the iPhone, I wasn't aware that they could ins a used device not too mention its jailbroken which they're aware of. Secondly, the iPhone was adverticed as a 5 month old 4s, after some research I found out that its an iPhone 4, and it could be years old. She doesn't seem to care but I do...she got ripped off. She thinks he bought it used and was under the impression it was a 4s. Sorry guys, this has been bugging me since last night. I'm still surprised that its covered by ins, but I wonder about the warranty?

The LG Thrill is, in my opinion, the worst android phone I've ever used.
I can't wait for the day when I can get rid of it. I'd sell it for $0.50 if I thought someone would actually buy it.

I didn't notice your second portion on your first reply "why didn't I check it out? Well, I stayed in the car the whole time, figured we could trust this guy since apparently we know each other from years ago and that we have mutual friends. It didn't even cross my mind that it may not be a 4s until we got home. To the untrained iPhone eye you can't tell the 4 apart from the 4s...there is only 2 physical differences that I know of, 1 is that the 4s has 4 black stripes around the edges were as the 4 only had 3. The other one (just learned today) is the volume switch is in a slightly different location.

Yep, the nexus 4 is back in stock on the play store. I added it to my cart, so hopefully its still there when I get my money in to my account tomorrow. I got $400 for the GNote which is a great deal I think, considering the Nexus 4 is only $350, so including shipping I think I made a $25 profit or something like that.
I really don't like the screen or the design tbh.
I love my samoled I have an s3 and the note now, just got rid of the galaxy nexus for the s3

Any indications? I have only seen a few people out and about with the N2, much more s3s. Verizon is so picky about picking up phones, I don't want any problems with them getting the Note 3. Now only if they weren't the last one to get it like the Note 2.....

I think they sold great. I saw many many people in my daily commute trains with Note 2. Surprisingly, many are girls with verizon white version.
I see people with N2s all the time. Might be areas had less advertising? I do see people with more S3s than n2s though. I would say I actually see more samsung phones than iphones now a days.

Mostly based on area for that it's the other way around for me only seeing iPhones everywhere I go but see maybe 2 Android phones.

Exactly, I see more Sammy phones in my area than iPhones now. Before the release of the S3 and Note 2 it was the other way around. I predominantly see people with AT&T and VZW Note 2's, a few S3's, and maybe 1 iPhone on my trips to town. In fact my local VZW store only keeps 2 iPhones of each size/color in store because they sell so slowly.
Honestly I think the N2 on VZW sold like hotcakes. Possibly as good or, hopefully, better than the S3.

Check Craigslist. Used GN2's STILL sell for $500+. I like to bounce around phones and try them all. What's the point when the N2 does everything? I'll probably switch to the S4 soon but that's not to say I wont get the N3 when it comes out. Samsung is doing it right.
Apple is losing market share, HTC is barely hanging on (sealed battery doors and no expandable memory - WTF??), and Motorola is doing it's thing. They build great phones but the locked bootloader is a NO for me...although Google is in bed with them now and recently someone "cracked" the HD/M military grade bootloader so we need to watch out for new stuff from Moto. But my money is still on Sammy. Same for my Allshare Cast, GN10.1, laptop, and TV.

Every verizon store I went to in greater Orlando area never had some left. The flipcases for white were always also sold out but they had plenty of the itanium or whatever flips and 1-3 of those in stock.
Also on swappa theyre selling fast...and on ebay too so! Its doing well. Maybe some like me ordered oem parts and did a part switch to remove branding or its just hidden behind the flip/case.
Everytime I pull out the phone people comment about it, so I decided to stop bieng vzws free advertising.

Not sure where you're getting your info, but it's still selling at the release price of $299.99 and it's 5 months out. They might have run a sale or special on it at some point, but the website still lists it at $299.99 right now. It's more expensive than the S4.

I think that price is the only thing keeping it from retail bliss. Everyone who doesn't want the note to begin with thinks its an oversized S3. So....they would go for the s3 at 50 bucks versus 4x as much for what they think is nearly identical....when its not.

I purchased one also, and at full damned price! My main reason for that was because VZW and Sammy refused to acknowledge the radio issues, which made the S3 unusable at my house while the Note 2 gets as good if not better service than the Motorola phones I have used, and when I asked if they would send a different S3 out for me to test and see if it was just an issue with my phone they refused and offered to send me an original Razr...... I decided that I wanted to keep my unlimited, I had an upgrade, and actually be able to use my phone to make calls so I gave in and bought the Note 2.
I must say that this is the first phone I have been 100% happy with after using it for 3 or 4 months, usually something better has come out and I get fed up with the bugs but with the N2 I can fix the bugs myself, what few there are, and it is the first phone that has actually fit my hands perfectly.
This phone sold like hotcakes when it first came out in my town, for the first 6 months they would sell out the day they got their shipment of them in the store. They sold so fast here that the store had a list of people wanting it and they would call when they got a shipment, it takes me ten minutes to get to the stores and by the time I would get there they were all gone. Walmart and Radioshack were also always sold out so I finally just had to give in and order it off Verizons website. They still sell extremely quick here but now they usually have at least 1 by the time their next shipment I comes in.

My grandmother had a iphone 4s and now the iphone5 that she loves. however when i pulled out my note 2, she put the iphone away and kept saying how nice the n2 is LOL.

The typical font size on the Note is definitely easier on the eyes than the iPhone or even 4.3"screens for me. My vision isn't bad to the point where I need reading glasses, but when I switch between phones the size of the Note is really easy to like.

I was at the vet the other day and this old man was there talking about how he was turning 85. Then he pulls out his iphone and starts showing me pictures. I pull my n2 out and he's like "is that the Galaxy note 2 or the S4?!?" He said he was so tired of how simple his iphone was and wanted to switch. Was so surprised someone his age new so much about phones. This guy was a true techie. Lol

He sounds like my grandfather... the man is a genius with windows, especially for being 72. Its funny how many people start looking out of the corner of their eyes when the note 2 comes out to play lol.

I must say the phone has its ups and downs. If you can get it off contract for a good deal I would say go for it. If its a contract then I would save some more and get something newer

as RQUIETT stated, yes this phone has its ups and downs as they all do.
I got my Infuse for 1 penny as a refurb and never had issue one with it. after Thanksgiving, I got my Note and 2 S3's for under $100, also refurbs.
well worth the money.
between contracts, data plans and need accessories and their availability, that's up to you. in my opinion, XDA is the one that keeps us current and keeps our Notes looking and feeling new and up to date
With the latest JB update, the phone is alot zippier. The hardware is still nowhere near the new phones, but it is more than enough for regular/daily use. And as mentioned before, there will be new updated ROMs to keep this phone going.
It sounds like OP is fine with the screen size, so if the price is reasonable (considering how old this phone is), I would recommend it.
Just note that the resale value might drop alot once the new Note 3 comes out later this year.
Ok thanks guys. I found it used. A family member will sell it to me for $150 and the note has no screen scratches and light scratches on the body. What do you guys think? Is it at a good price?

Yes. In Vancouver Canada, you can flip it for at least $250.
Sounds like a deal! I bought one with one case for $300 and another with a few cases for $210. Hell, I'd buy another if I saw it for 150.
