So I was helping a guy at the home depot I work at. I saw the Guy had a S2 skyrocket and asked him how he liked it, then I showed him my Note I just got. Turns out he works for AT&T corporate. He new about the Note but wasn't really familiar with it, so I got my gadget geek on and showed off what the Note can do and then talked about the network around Atlanta.
So I went into work for an hour today to help out on a special order and I had a message with a contact number. So I call and it's someone from at&t, she told me that Guy I helped was so impressed with my knowledge and passion on mobile that he gave the info he had on me to her. Now she wants me to come in and discuss opportunities with business sales. It's face to face stuff mostly (not a call center).
Update: Got an interview on Tuesday at one of their corporate offices.
Update2: So I interviewed with them on Tuesday and it went very well. They said they have some in house promotions about to happen in a few weeks to a month and they would be contacting me again when they know more about the upcoming opens on their floor. It would be a 8-5 job with base salary and commission with business sales in the mobility division.
"Buy a galaxy note, get a job offer."
New marketing campaign.

I could sell the sh*t out of some phones. Haha. It's funny how uninformed the sales clerks are at some stores. I literally saw an At&t employee trying to sell an iPhone to a guy based purely on Siri, and couldn't even get it to work. Her explanation was that "it just doesn't work sometimes, but it's still a really great feature"
Sad thing was, the guy walked out with an iPhone that day. If only I could have saved his poor soul...

I had a post about this the other day and I totally can agree... its bad how they will hire people who don't know what they are doing but you get a bad rap from the go ernment and they wont hire you even though it was in the general basis... I went to three different att and a bestbuy asking he managers about the note not even two weeks ago and they acted like I was talking about space travel -.-

This actually happened to me too! Except not with a Galaxy Note and not AT&T but Verizon! I knew more than the guy they were training and actually troubleshooted a customer and the regional sales manager offered me a job! Too bad I don't go to school where I live :/

No he Just remembered my name and gave a description of me to a coworker and she called my HD and left a message with a number to contact her. I didn't know what it was for when I called. Then she telling me that I impressed this Guy so much and asked me if I would be interested in changing careers.

They read rumors off the internet and many of them do not seem to be able to ask the higher ups if rumors are correct, they will just tell them what you have read on blog sites of people who are not in the know.

I had slim hopes as well. Sorry, but there isn't going to be a surprise release of a phone without at least a few days notice.
The Verizon chat representative was probably going, "Hey Sa'irah, I'm so sick of people asking about the TB, lets get this guy going. 'Yes, the TB will be available to order tomorrow.' 'Yes, you'll be able to purchase it as well.' ".

So last Friday i went to my local att store with the full intention of getting the Note but naturally i wanted to try having some fun with the reps. I told them i was wanting a new phone and then asked them what is the best phone. Turns out the iphone 4s is the best. When i asked why i was told it has siri and a retina display. (no one there could tell me why the retina display was so amazing) At that point i decided not to attempt to troll them as it would have been pointless. Fast forward and im at the checkout buying the Note. While checking out the rep tells me how the phone has a 1080p screen. At this point i couldn't help myself i asked if it was better than the iphones retina..short anwser no it is not. Anyways im now a proud owner of the only 1080p galaxy note. lol

Haha I love messing with the reps there never gets old. I was there last week and the sales rep trying to sell me the phone was unaware of the different processor the ATt has over the international model to comidate LTE. I could write a book from going in there and talking to them. My gf always tells me to take it easy before we head in lol.
Best part was when i was walking out someone was complaining to the rep about being throttled. I noticed he had the infuse and after the rep told him they couldn't do anything about it i made it a point to tell him how to fix it. Once again the rep told the man what i was saying wouldnt work and against the tos. Needless to say he is no longer throttled lol.

I was at a corporate one. I don't mean to sound like an ass i just think its funny. To be honest if i worked there i would recommend iphones and act ignorant of cell phone tech. The vast majority of people would just get confused otherwise. When people get confused they feel dumb and when they feel dumb they get offended and end up leaving and making their purchase elsewhere.

Sometimes I get people that try to pull this stuff in my store. You can always tell because they ask questions that are technical but is a question that you're asking you should already know the answer to, like what does aws stand for, or what is a pentaband phone... Completely owned some guy yesterday that said you can't unlock the note and use their 3g on tmobile

AT&T corporate store employees make more on iPhones, indirect agents (authorized retailers) make nothing on iPhone sales.. not even the data plans. So it really depends what type of store you're in. Personally I enjoy when someone knows the tech they're talking about. Although it is quite funny watching people try to convince me the iPhone is better than everything else.

You have some more research to do. The skyrocket & note are unique in this way.
Just remember that for most people that work at those places they could give a **** about most everything there, they are just trying to do their job. Those stores have high turnaround in alot of cases and employees aren't required to know everything about devices.
And technically going by ppi the 4S is better. He couldn't tell you why though. And i would rather have the Notes screen that the tiny iPhone any day.

So this is my story, thought maybe someone would enjoy hearing it. And this story involves my s3, but I'm telling you guys cause i like this forum better lol.
My mom sent me to the Mall to see if the line was too long for my sister to get an iPhone when she got home from college today. (Line was super short compared to when i camped out for my ip4, shameful i know )
I was leaning over the railing looking at the first floor ( Apple store is on second floor) I was texting my mom about the situation on the line, when an older gentlemen came up and tapped me, he asked "Do you like your phone" I was like of course I love it. He then asked was I going to be trading or selling it for the iPhone, I was like no way i fell for that with the ip4 then a month later traded it for the original galaxy and haven't looked back since owning every galaxy. He said me either then pulled out his I.D. he worked for Samsung Atlanta, and he flashed me his galaxy, and thanked me for my loyalty to Samsung gave me a $25 mediahub credit and gave a smirk to the fools in line haha. Not much but i thought it was cool

Went to AT&T store to buy a Note2 with my 50% off work discount. Their system says my discount is 50% off NEW lines. (Which is stupid because then it's more than new line price AND totally different of what my paper from work says)
So, anyways, now I'm on the hunt for something else. BTW: The prices for GN2 and GS3 on Craigslist is INSANE!
I came into this forum with Angst from the other Asshat filled sections of XDA and found a great group of helpful people! (Especially FJ, one of the coolest devs I've ever interacted with!!!) Hopefully I added in something somewhere along the lines.

HTC one x you can get for a very reasonable price just have to deal with piss poor battery life(my own personal experience maybe you will have different experience) also if you have 350 from your og note you should be able to find a gs3 for not that much more maybe like $50 more on eBay. You may miss the big screen(as if 4.8 is small Lol) but the amount if development on the s3 more than makes up for it.

I had a somewhat simular experience when I bought my Note. The sales rep at the first AT&T store I went to told me I was not yet eligible for an upgrade, based on whatever database he consulted. That was different from what my previous sales receipt said. Rather than argue I went to a different AT&T store in another part of town and found a sales rep that would listen to my side of the argument. She called the mother ship to talk to someone with the right authority and kept the conversation going until I got the Note I wanted. Based on that experience I would suggest trying a different location. Reliance on finding a sympathetic sales rep is NOT a business model I would condone, but this time that strategy worked.

With the exception of the screen size and s pen(if you even use it) gs3 is better phone in my opinion. You should flash illusion 4.2.1 ROM by itsmikeramsey. Damn near perfect

I recently purchased a Note from Gazelle's Ebay store for a pretty decent price. I'm not sure what your price range is but I was able to pick up an I-717 for $285.

Fj released an update on his ICS rom on the 19th. Yea I know it's an ICS rom but since we still don't have official JB and there's rumors JB is right around the corner I think the devs are just waiting.

Went to AT&T store to buy a Note2 with my 50% off work discount. Their system says my discount is 50% off NEW lines. (Which is stupid because then it's more than new line price AND totally different of what my paper from work says)
So, anyways, now I'm on the hunt for something else. BTW: The prices for GN2 and GS3 on Craigslist is INSANE!

My wife and I went into the ATT store in our neighborhood Saturday for her to pick between a SGS4 and a One, and see if we could get her an early upgrade. She's not due for an early upgrade until July and her Samsung Infuse is not performing well anymore and we wanted to take advantage of their trade-in offer. After waiting for about half an hour and haggling with a sales associate and the manager, the were not convinced and we left empty handed. A co-worker put me up to calling customer service and after explaining the situation and our in-store experience and a brief hold, the rep came back with some awesome news! She was approved to not only let my wife have the early upgrade, but a FREE upgrade to the black 64GB! And just to sweeten the deal, she threw in free overnight shipping!!! We're expecting it to arrive tomorrow. I think i'll keep the black one and let her have my silver 64GB.
All of those TMOUS and VZ subscribers who say ATT has terrible customer service have no idea. I have been with ATT since 2006 and have never needed to call customer service. This is not bad for a first experience!

Thats the funny thing because i didnt even tell her we were treated poorly in the store, but i think thats how she interpreted it. All i said was that my wife's phone is i sad shape and the store would not honor an early upgrade.

U just got very lucky. That one experience does not mean all of ATT is that way. Believe me you can call with the same question 5 times and get 5 different answers..been there A LOT with ATT. Go to vegas soon my friend, before your luck runs out
I came from an Infuse as well. I wish Scott would come over here. I miss my BeanStalk. BTW I came up with the logo for that. Lol.

I got the same treatment. I called told them why I needed an early upgrade 30 mins later I got my confirmation email with shipping info.
Att has been great to me.

I simple told the Rep that I need my upgrade 2 months early because my current phone wasn't working for me anymore. she understood my problem and said retention department could help me. Five mins later she came back and said since I was nice and in good standing that she could approve my upgrade and wave my upgrade fee. I need a larger screen due to losing most of my eye sight in an accident she said the only draw back was I'd have to pay for whatever phone I wanted right then . So I told thanks and then spoke with her supervisor letting him know how great she was. Being very decent is the key even if you need to speak to a supervisor ask nicely and erasure the Rep that you understand that she help as much as they could. So I paid for my phone and they shipped it out ocernight. Be patient be pleasant they get ****tiy people calling all the time so it helps to be nice.

Co-worker got a similar deal. His problem was that the online system would cancel his order immediately after completing it. It happened twice. He called not to complain, but simply to order the phone and got it free with free overnight shipping. His account was eligible for an upgrade, though.
The store manager has the power to give u an early upgrade within 30 days of the eligible date. Its funny BC some managers will say well it has to be in the same calendar month or ah it's gotta be within 14 days. U got lucky!
