Just wondering if anyone is having the same problem and if they are is there a solution!!
Over the past 4 days I have had a problem with my phone (occasionally) not coming out of sleep mode. Its not happening all the time. Its only happened about 3 times over the past 4 days. If I press the power button or the home button to wake the phone it won't come on. Its as if the phone is powered off. The only way to get it back is to take out the battery or hold the power button until I see the samsung logo for boot up.
I haven't installed any new apps in over a month and it happens when the phone is at between 85% and 93% power.
Twice it happened after unplugging it from the power supply and once for no reason.
I have all the latest updates available for the phone.

Sorry, I didn't see it as a question in that sense... It was more of a general query.

Can't see how that would work.
Seems a bit drastic for such a small problem.
Under clocking usually does this. If you're not UC, kernel is usually the cultist. Flash another kernel and report back!

I'm using stock rom. No customisation at all on this device.
Sounds like you may have installed an app which may affect wakeup, happened to me once. Check what you've downloaded especially what make affect wake like power saving apps.

Hi everyone,
first of all I did search forum, but havent find answer nor related thread, if I have missed it please sorry about it.
Got my SGS2 about 6-7 months ago. No issues, everything perfect. Got updated to 2.3.4 with KIES (not really fan of experimenting with phone that have price of above average monthly salary in Serbia).
Rooted device with ZergRush exploit since I wanted as close to mint backup in case I have to send it to service(dont ask, service here is pain in the butt), purchased Mobile Odin Pro (cheers to that Chainfire) and flashed Hellcat's kernel for 2.3.4 from Mobile Odin.
Everything was cool, CWM, made EFS backup with his tool too, and so on...
However, about 2 moths ago, I started experiencing random restarts of the phone. Did search, found out that it happens and actually dealt with it.
Now, recently, i switched off my phone in the evening (was on 20% and didnt wanted to leave it on charger, and didnt want it to die on me during night), and in the morning I havent been able to turn it on. Freaked out badly, only to realize that its battery was empty. Which was odd because I DID turned it off.
About few days ago, i switched the phone, and it went to full shut down, however managed to get stucked somewhere in process (LED's are on, did vibrate i think) but never shuts down itself.
After some time, when I picked it up since I saw LED's on, i realized that its very hot and that I cant switch it back on (presumably because it never got shuts down) and had to remove battery so that I can switch it back on. When I did, i found out that battery was about 15% drained in that 10 mins, and I dont know what he was computing while shutting down, but it burned the sh*t out of itself.
Tonight it did that again so I decided to ask first before I do factory reset/wipe everything (maybe update to ICS too).
So, any idea, suggestion what to do is more than appreciated.
Cheers
Polite bump?
What is the actual problem .

Well assuming you have read original post, why the hell that happen, does it happen to anyone else, and how to avoid it?
this may help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499
Well, as I said, its not bootloop.
As I said, I shut down the phone, it starts shutting down, turn on leds, vibrate and stays turned on. After that battery drains quickly, and phone gets very hot.
When I get battery out, and back in it boots up without problems.
And I dont have any cooked rom, just Hellcats kernel for 2.3.4 stock rom.
you problem
Hi there,
Here's the best way to resolve this issue you have to re-flash a fresh new rom, meaning a full installation of the android os and here is how to do it,
First search google and download ODIN to ur computer or Pc.
Next search again google and type the following ( Sammobile.com ) and register and after that type the model number of your phone for example (i9100) in the site search bar and download rom that u need and thats it this should solve ur problem
Note : be sure to have 100% battery charged before doing the above and after installing ur new rom do a full wipe and enjoy,
I hope this was helpful,
Regards,
iMatrix
Yeah, thats probably that I will end up doing, luckily i have bought Titanium Backup so that I can backup all apps that I have and restore them after wiping everything.
I was wondering that somebody have any idea what might be going on.
Thanks for suggestions everyone.
before that try wiping cache and dalvik cache

This seems to happen quite a bit on gb roms.. definetely time to upgrade to ICS
Actually from what I have read about ICS 4.03, Im actually glad I didnt.
Releasing it in that state(e.g. battery issues again, 3rd party sms programs sends sms twice...) is bad for both G and Samsung imho...

Hi guys,
I am experiencing a strange thing on my phone. Some days ago i tried DOVA a PA 2.50 port, and at first it was working well and all was good for some days, then 2 or 3 days ago it started to crash and freeze or just didn't wake up, randomly. So i did a full wipe again and tried to see if it fixed the problem, unfortunately it didn't.
My next move was to fully wipe again and flash all the way back to the official PA 3.15, where there was no problem, but the phone still crash
So here i am, asking if any of you could help or even tell me my phone is done and needs to get repaired.
It may be due to sds fix. Try kernel linked in my signature. No more freezes for me
I get freezes on all cm kernels

I will give it a go and get back to you if it's going well or not
After 5 mins i had my crash with the new Kernel, so the phone is alive in some way, course when pushing the home buttom some times in a row, the screen turns negative "white". But don't reatch to anything els

If you still can, reset your counter via Triangle Away because you might have to bring it to a service center if the device dies. So to be on the safe side I would recommend to do it while you still can.
So before sending my phone to rep, anyone els might have a solution?
The phone freeze randomly.
I can't wake it up often - a new message do wake the phone, so that is really strange.
Factory reset. Format internal and external sd. Backup everything first though

Have done full wipes, not on external sd though.

I will give it a try later
Okay, i did an unroot and then root. and all is running great
The phone was plugged in to my computer (I was doing development) and was running all the time. Suddenly, while I was not doing development or doing anything, the phone died and I have have never been able to turn it on again.
I've tried:
Hold the Power button
Hold both Power and Volume down button
Take out the battery and put it in again
Replace the batter with another one from my friends' working-perfectly-fine Galaxy S3
The result is the same: no response from the phone at all - it's completely cold, no sound, light or vibration at all - all I've seen is the blank unchanged screen so please don't ask me about the start up screen
What can I do?
*Notes: I've read this thread but my warranty has ran out so bringing it to Samsung is not really the best option.

Sounds like hardware failure, nothing you can do apart from obtain a repair.
Just wondering: what android version did you use before?
looks like an SDS for sure

My Galaxy S III have few problems from which i am suffering everyday. My phone is not rooted and has official ROM and I am from Hyderabad India.
1. The volume down button work unexpectedly. Sometime it works sometimes it won't. Sometime while a single press it came down to 0. Even when i am not touching while i am in call or even not involved in anything i.e. idle the volume goes to level 1. Each time i try to increase the volume it again decreases to level 1. It is very irritating while in a call. Thought of going to a Service Center as it is within warranty but then i want to check if it is a hardware problem or any known software issue. I tried to find in many forums about this but no one has a concrete answer
2. The second problem is My phone always is entering Safe Mode. I am successful in bringing her out once or twice but 2 out of 3 time while i restart it is stuck in safe mode. I have tried each and everything suggested in forums to bring her out of safe mode but none works. Twice keeping the battery 30 mins out helped, but nothing is working this time though. I think it is probably after my last update on july 17 from Samsung not sure about that though. I tried uninstalling apps which might cause her to go in the safe mode in the first place but sadly no luck
Will appreciate if somebody can help me reg these 2 problems.
Thanks in Advance.

Dhruv

Critical you read the first two posts .
Suggest you take the phone to a service centre
Might be water damage from the button side, my friend had a similar-ish problem, didn't cost anything under warranty though - service center is your best bet.
following with JJEgan, this is clearly a question ([Q]), so you should post it in the Q/A section, you should probably make a thread there next time
Sorry
Extremely Sorry, Didn't know about that. Actually it is my first post here..
Next time i shall ask questions there only. :good:
But any answer to the 2nd problem about Safe Mode? Just interested to know the reason behind such behavior.
same problem

Hi guy,I using I9300, Rom stock 4.0.4, no root, and i haved the problem like you after I installed some apps such as : button savior, lock screen when rotate phone, flashlight. It automatically turn down the volume, I replaced the cable volume inside phone but it's still not working, Now I can press volume up but volume down (volume down died) and when I turn on the phone, flash turn on too (about 2,3 sec before it off automatically). I think my ROM was impacted by that apps and flash origin ROM can fix it, but a staff said that my main might had problem, and I had to replace the main. How do you think about it? Could we exchange the information by email,my email is [email protected] .Thank you. I hope you will tell me ,if you can fix it
Hi there,
For a few days now I have been experiencing random reboots of my phone and I've always just thought that it was the ROM I was on (Omega) as I did not update it for a time (Not too long). Now the phone has decided to keep rebooting and I have installed a recovery of a stock ROM. It also won't turn on sometimes and when it does it just shows a picture of a battery when plugged into a charger. Sometimes it shows charge and sometimes it says there is no charge at all. It also turns itself off sometimes when plugged into a charger. I am not sure whether this is SDS? Any ideas to save my S3?
Cheers,
Jon

Try changing the battery. Confirmed to be working by some users.

Flash a full stock firmware with odin and factory reset, if still the same then it's hardware.

Have you even thought about it possibly being your battery? I've had problems with my battery in the past and just replacing it has fixed most issues.

Flashed a stock ROM, unrooted as well. Problems still occurred and now trying a factory reset. If that doesn't work then I will try a new battery. If all else fails it may have to go back to Samsung as I'm still under warranty.
You should have really tried replacing your battery before anything. It seems like that's the problem
