Would it be possible to redirect an existing app on the home screen to launch a different app?
I'm using the samsung messaging app on my galaxy s3 and I hate it. I find the color scheme is very bland and crappy. Instead I started using the jellybean messaging app. I have both installed on my phone.
I like the samsung messaging app icon better and it also comes with notfication badges. So what I'm asking, would it be possible to launch the jellybean messaging app with the samsung app icon?

Not sure what its called but with the new TW update, there is a quick launch on the status bar with task, calender, world clock, pen memo, calculator, and music player.
My question is can you change these default apps to something else? and what is it called?
I do not believe so. What you will find is some of these can only be accessed by this bar or a widget. Task manager takes up alot of space on the home screen (widget wise.) So I find I'd prefer the mini app version in the mini launcher.
It would be nice if this evolve to be a row of mini apps and a row of quick access shortcuts to real apps.

Hi all - first post so i hope it a relatively decent question. Did have a search but couldnt find anything related to this particular issue on this phone.
I have an unrooted S2 and i would like to use another Launcher.
My problem is that i cannot seem to find and App or Launcher or anything that can alert me of unread emails.
I have tried 'missed it' and executive assistant but to no avail.
Missed it works for calls and SMS but not email.
I should add that i am not using G mail but using the built in samsung email App with two accounts (1 POP and 1 Exchange).
If i receive an email using the default launcher and open the app drawer there is an email icon which displays the unread count in a red bubble. So if i add this icon to desktop or to the dock i can see unread mails.
If i am using Launcher Pro for example this icon is not in my app drawer or anywhere that i can find it. In stead there is exactly the same icon in the drawer but this does not display the unread count.
I am assuming that this is a semi sansung widget (although i cannot add it to desktop as a widget even in the standard launcher).
I have also tried using the social hub with launcher pro (and Go launcher and ADW) but again i get no notifications.
I still get the notifications in the notification bar no matter what launcher i use but these dissapear after a while.
This is currently the only thing stopping me using a different Launcher and it would be great if anyone had any ways around this.
Unfortunately i cannot and dont really want to forward my emails to Gmail.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Nath
Does anyone know of a solution for getting badges for the default mail app to show up in Launcher Pro on either the app icon or the dock icon? It works fine on the app icon when using TouchWiz, but not when using Launcher Pro.
Initial research didn't yield any results; it seems to be a problem for other platforms as well. *sigh*
I recently installed Resurrection Remix 2.4 and have an issue with the messaging application. They have updated the messaging application and now the default icon for contact is a blue droid. It hurts my eyes even at moderate brightness. Is there a way to go back to the grey droid as the default picture?

Replace the icon in the messaging app's res/drawable-hdpi folder with another one you do like.
Do i need to edit MMS.apk for this or is there an easier way?

An easier way is to place the application onto your homescreen and change the icon with your own picture, if your launcher supports that feature (such as Apex Launcher) But that will only change the one on your homescreen and not in your app drawer.

It also adds the option to have linebreaks in SMS so I can't ask for more. Thanks a lot for your help guys
I love the handcent app more than the default messaging app, but I hate how the default icon doesn't show the number of unread messages. However, the widget DOES show the number of unread messages. But the Optimus G doesn't allow you to put widgets on the dock. Is there any way I can get the handcent widget onto the dock? I've downloaded the Nova and APEX Launchers but I'm not a big fan of them yet. If using a launcher is the only way to do this then I'll just have to get use to it!
EDIT: Or, is there anyway to take my current Handcent theme (bubble colors, font color, background, etc) and make a theme for the default text messaging app?
