Just curious on whether there is any custom video capture software for the galaxy s3 that can capture more than 1920x1080. Previously for the pocket pc based phones (mda compact etc) it was possible to record at very high resolutions at decent framerate.
There is the burst feature i believe already which can capture 3 frames a sec or so, Anyone know of any other software similar?

Possible to Capture pictures while shooting video?
Maybe need a new rom for this function..
I don't think you can do so directly, it requires specific hardware (as in the HTC One X) but there is an app made by Sony called Frame Grabber in the Play Store which can retrospectively clip stills from video and it works incredibly well.
I don't know if it is hardware specific. The Galaxy S 1 can do it in the newest firmware so it could be a software feature.
When you take a clip out of the video, solution is lower than normal picutre.
Hopefully it can be added in by software fix.
Hey guys,
I just watched like all videos about s3 and its camera, it seems like the audio quality of recorded videos are hoorible compared to even older devices... Is there any way to simply implement an equializer with a default settings change for the audio recorded ? U know, to fix that..
And the other thing is the brightness, i noticed that if ur recording outside or in a forest or park the camera cant simply handle the bright spots... In general i watched comparision videos with an iphone (which i will enver bey) and a galaxy nexus, the nexus doesnt ave these problems with brightness and has a waaay better audio quality..
Can anyone of u who owns this device please make some videos in 1080p and plax around with the contrast/brightness settings, since i dont have my device yet so i can see what quality changes one cna make ?
Thanks. Sincerely Gram.

If you already are aware that it's possible to stop the camera from refocusing during recording, then this post isn't for you...
BUT...
If, like me, you initially didn't realize this, or are currently considering Galaxy S III, you should know that you can stop the camera from refocusing during video recording. This has been a big source of complaints on latest smartphones with continuous autofocus that constantly adjust (and sometimes lose focus) during video recording, which can be annoying. Stopping autofocus during recording will give you complete control over what the phone should be focusing on. Check it out...

p.s. If you missed my complete Galaxy S III review and a brief comparison with HTC One S, link is provided at the end of the video.
Hey,
it there any camera software, mod, a particular device or any workaround that allows you to maintain the original resolution of the recorded video while digitally zooming rather that just enhancing the 1080p image and making the experience all blurry? What I mean is something in the fashion of the Nokia PureView or the old N8 which was able to fully utilize its 12 MPix sensor while recording 720p and digitally zooming. Just wanted to know if Android is capable of anything like that since the old Symbian already was.
Here is an example video of what I mean (not mine)

I've owned the Galaxy Tab S6 for over a year. Even though the official specs say that the front camera supports up to 1080p resolution, by using the application Open Camera from the play store I discovered that the front camera actually supports up to 2608x1956 resolution for video recording (4:3 aspect ratio). I have written a couple of applications using the front camera and I can easily use that resolution to record video. The official camera app that comes with the tablet only shows up to 1080p resolution.
I bought the Galaxy Tab S7+ as well and guess what: the same video resolution was supported, so I guess both tablets use the same camera. However, when I updated the Galaxy Tab S7+ to Android 11, suddenly the 2608x1956 resolution is not supported anymore by any application. So of course, now I'm thinking that I should not update my S6 to Android 11 because the higher resolution will not be supported anymore. I write software that relies on higher resolution video and object detection and would rather not lose the ability to use the 2608x1956 resolution, at least for now.
Can anyone confirm that if I update to Android 11 the video resolution will be limited to 1080p. Keep in mind that the official camera app that comes with the tablet never exposes the higher resolution. Only other applications such as Open Camera expose the higher resolution.
