I havent rooted or unlocked bootloader yet and i updated last night.. since i havent rooted yet can i still root the usual way with odin or w/e
I used Odin to flash a root injected stock rom to gain root (check the galaxynote2root-dot-com Site for Verizon-specific instructions), used the ota rootkeeper app to save it, did the verizon ota, and regained root with the rootkeeper app. Worked great.

Troubleshoot that a couple of ways. First, go into the market, and download rootchecker by joeykrim. That should tell you if you somehow lost root. If you did, root again, I actually prefer photon torpedo method found in these forums.
If you still have root, go the market and download superuser. If you are showing that you still have root, and that superuser is installed, then you should be good, if not, then I would re-root with photon anyway.
I too lost root when I went back to 154....got the OTA to 198_6 then I re-rooted with AIO...all is good now
I checked and saw an OTA update for my Atrix (4.5.141) [mine currently 4.5.91 ; 2.3.4]
I downloaded and install but it appeared a < ! > in process then it restart itself and says update failed.
I think this problem caused by Root.(Is there any way to unroot my phone ?)
Be sure to undo anything you did that requires root access (defrost apps, etc)
For unrooting, it depends how you rooted your phone.
1) if you used the one click method, there's an unroot button
2) if you used the fastboot preinstall method, delete the su related files:
http://androidforums.com/atrix-4g-all-things-root/423259-best-way-unroot.html
It may be as simple as only removing su from /system/bin and uninstalling superuser.apk, but doing a full unroot is the safest way IMO.
I just updated today. ATT 2.3.4 with locked Bootloader, rooted with the one click method. When I went to use the one click method to unroot I received an error message saying that I didn't have the proper back up files.
After much searching on-line, I installed OTA RootKeeper and ran it to make my Atrix look like it hadn't been rooted. After the update I ran OTA RootKeeper again to restore root.
I've restarted my phone 3 or 4 times in the last 4 hours and so far all is well!

OTA Rootkeeper is good only if you used a root method that uses the zergrush exploit. Most of the one click methods use it. I however, used a method that edited build.prop. I used OTA Rootkeeper, updated, and it failed to properly restore root. Others that used a root tool that uses zergrush had no problem restoring with OTA Rootkeeper.
I rooted my razr last night and im gonna keep my stock rom. I was interested in upgrading to update 6.12.181 . My question is will i lose root and if i do can i root it again with that update?

I believe you'll need to root again, just if you reflash another rom. Updating through the default way, you won't lose the root, I guess. ( and if you lose, you'll be able to do it again )
Goto market and install OTA Rootkeeper. Then run it and backup root. It's straight forward and required a single tap. Then using Rootkeeper tap on uninstall root.
Then update your phone.
Run OTA Rootkeeper again and tap restore root. I restart my phone after but you don't have to.

Just get ota root keeper. Do not install safe strap or bootstrap. You don't e end have to unroot to install update. Do not freeze any apps. Just run ota root keeper. Make it backup root. Accept the ota. Once it reboots, restore root via ota root keeper. Worked great for me.
Will OTA rootkeeper work with the I605VRAMC3 update or will I lose root and need to use another root method? Currently on Stock ROM with locked bootloader, rooted only.
To answer my own question, I just updated and root was successfully restored using OTA rootkeeper.
Thanks for sharing this info. Glad you were able to figure it out.

What rooting program are you using??? I've updated my phone and ready to root however I'm getting an error when trying to use No You Verizon Casual R478.
My phone was already rooted before updating, I used OTA rootkeeper to temporarily disable root before updating then restored root using the app. I originally rooted by flashing the root-injected firmware. When I bought the phone it was already on VRALL4, I flashed the root-injected VRALJB image then used OTA rootkeeper to disable root and updatedback to VRALL4. OTA rootkeeper work for the VRAMC3 update as well.
[Q] Is there root process for I337UCUFNJ5?
Hello,
Recently there was a firmware OTA sent out from ATT for the Galaxy S4 SGH-I337.
Prior to this I rooted the phone using towelroot.
Of course after the update I lost my root and now I want to root it again!
Will I have to reflash an older firmware (NJ4) or does anyone know of a process to root this current firmware NJ5?
I took the update also. Lost root. I then used Odin to flash the I337_NC1_Stock_Kernel. Have Towel root v3 on phone before flashing since I lost wifi and data after the flash. Run towelroot and its rooted. Then odin I337_NJ4_Stock_Kernel on. Its rooted. Use Titanium to stop update of NJ5. Until someone figures out how....
