USB 3.0 + Windows 8 + Flashtool = Flashmode problems - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Has anyone experienced trouble in this combo?
I own a desktop (w/ USB 2.0 ports) and a notebook, recently acquired, fully USB 3.0 powered (no USB 2.0 ports).
In both I have Windows 8 installed, and the environment and drivers installed for Xperia X10 are pretty much the same.
In desktop everything runs normally, never experienced any errors. However in notebook I'm not able to flash any kernel. The process recognizes the phone in flash mode, but quickly Flashtool gives an error message.
Maybe this issue has been posted somewhere, but I really couldn't find anything and "USB 3.0" is a too-specific term in searches, returning me no results.
So far thanks for attention and sorry for bad english...

..
even i have the same problem with my laptop but the other one having win 7 works well dunno maybe some problem with win 8

has anyone found the solution??

Yup, 2nd this. I also have problems with USB 3.0 and Win8 combo. It seems as the drivers don't work with USB 3.0 in Win8. Saddly.

@fsmaia
Try to Install Flashtol Drivers, in the same folder installation... or maybe you need the PC Companion
Install also this (Right-Click RUN AS A ADMINISTRATOR)

No this ain't helping. I've found out that the problem is solely with USB 3.0, and not Win8. I too suffer from a lappie with all USB 3.0 ports. I had my phone flashed with my friend's lappie, running Win8 but on USB 2.0 port, and it did the job flawlessly.

problem solved !!!
I found a solution, but i can't post link beacause i'm new on xda.
just looking for on google : windows-8-and-intel-usb-3-0-host-controllers from plugable
if someone want to make a tuto...
Have fun !

Correct USB Drivers for Win7 x64

Hey Everyone,
I am having trouble making my computer recognize the phone. Either in mass storage or in usb debug mode, when I plug the cable in, the phone will Vibrate but Windows does not recognize it.
I tried installing Kies and install the USB drivers but it does not change anything. Did anyone have any problems and if so, how did you fix it?
thank you
Running Win 7 64 Ultimate and have had no problem. Just downloaded the correct version of Kies from samsungs site and let it do its thing. Possible issue withe either usb cable or usb port, have you tried different ones?
Not sure if it helps but I also had issues with drivers on win64. Ended up downloading the Galaxy S ones for win64 from Softpedia and then everything worked fine after that.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App

Connecting USB to windows not working?

Ok so im trying to connect the phone USB but it gives me only options like im connecting a camera photo and scan in windows lol? how do u access the phone so that you can transfer files i dont understand, never had a problem connecting a phone this way before.
I had this problem too.
I'm using XP and I had to install a driver for windows called MTP I think it was.
Once I restarted it worked. Make sure it is in MTP mode when plugged in via USB.
Probably worth trying
EDIT: Just realised I think what actually fixed it was installing the Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones (I installed 1.4.8.0 which I think was the latest)
Google it and download should do the trick
Thanks that did the trick installing USB drivers, i found them from here if anyone else has the same problem.

no hardware id

Hello All,
i had a problem with my phone every time plugging in galaxy s3 into windows (xp or 7) i kept getting no hardware id found after flashing my last rom.
just thought i would share how i resolve. very simple steps...
power off and remove battery
uninstall any drivers from windows
insert battery
power on device
once fully booted plug device back into windows and let it search for drivers.
all "should" now be working.
just thought it would be helpful to share as took me a while to find information online.
Got the same problem, with the difference that my S3 is fresh out of the box. Installed kies, drivers. Tried all of the usb-ports but nothing seem to work.
Was looking to root it but the connection (looks to me) would be an must...

jups, tried several cables and all of my usb-ports. Still no marriage between phone and desktop
funnily enough i just had this happen to me on my win 7 64bit ultimate, havent flashed any new roms just stock with cf root. All of a sudden my comp gave the sound effect if something was disconnected and I just got hardware id missing.
It did resolve itself though after I rebooted both phone and pc so unfortunately cant narrow it down further.

Is KIES loading while you are trying? If so, shut it down.
I've never had to load drivers. Windows always finds them on it's own.
missing hardware id (Win7 64 Home)
Same Problem for me.
I have never used Kies, but installed des Samsung Driver Package Ver. 1.5.6.0 .
For 3 month all worked fine with 2 Galaxy S III, 2 S II and 1 S I.
Since yesterday i have this trouble. Reinstall drivers, shut down phone... nothing helps. Changing USB-Ports, nothing...
Running on Stock XXBLG8 wird Syiha 1.5 or Speedmod K1-8 Kernel.
Would be fine if there is a fix or at least idea how to solve this
Just so everyone knows, the way i fixed this was very simple.
1. Uninstall Kies and All Drivers
2. Reboot Into Recovery (If Roooted)
3. Wipe Cache and Dalvik
4. Fix Permissions
5. Install LG8 Rom (rom installer from UpdateMe)
6. Reboot Phone
7. Disconnect From Internet (PC/MAC)
8. Re-Install Kies
9. Connect Phone to PC/MAC
10. Let Phone Install Drivers Again with Kies
11. Should Be Good-to-Go
1
-On Control Panel go to Programs and Features find Samsung mobile USB drivers and uninstall it, conect phone on PC via USB cable and wait for drivers to install.
or
2
-Use Kies and klik Troubleshoot problems with connectivity
That should solve the problem

this worked for me but i have to repeat the process every time in reconnect my phone to the pc
It works
Hi guys,
I think I figured it out.
I was reading posts about this issue on multiple forums and there was one that caught my attention (I cannot remember where it was exactly- it was late in the night).
The thing is that the current Windows running PC's (or most of them) does not have the latest drivers and updates installed.
First I tried connecting my Galaxy S3 to the PC (which was not updated) and had the same errors you guys have. Then I connected it to my home laptop and this did not work as well. Today when I went into the office (@work) i tried again there and it worked flawlessly. Then it hit me:
The IT dept keeps the laptops and all the infrastructure up to date (including Windows updates). Therefore I tried again at home but this time with Windows up to date and guess what...it worked on both PC and laptop !
What I did (please keep in mind that all of my laptops and PC's are running Windows 7 - not sure if it works on older Windows versions):
1) Uninstall Kies and the related USB driver it installs (Control panel -> Programs and features)
2) Let Windows install the latest updates (Control panel -> Windows Update) and let it reboot your machine and finish installing things.
3) After you're logged back into Windows just plug your USB cable into the phone and PC/Laptop on any of the USB ports and it works !
Hope this helps !
Regards,
Mike

Samsung Composite Driver is exactly the Problem on Windows 7 X64!
I installed these drivers SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones and this solved my problems with the ID issue. Here is the link https://www.dropbox.com/s/fm9b12xy3r0t07b/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.zip. Good luck guys
i try it with only Windows Update Driver that was not the Solution, that was without ADB Support..
I resolve the Problem, :good: if anyone have the Problem further, try this..
- uninstall all Samsung Driver & Kies from your System
- then you need the tool USBDeview
- uninstall with that tool all unused or Samsung USB Driver from your Sys
- Reboot your Machine
- after that clean your registry (example with CCleaner)
- Reinstall or Update your Motherboard System Driver (Only USB)
- Reboot your Machine
- Install Now Samsung Kies again
- again Reboot your Machine
- and last disable USB Debugging on your Phone and activate it again
now you can plug your Device and hopefully with MTP and ADB Support and without Hardware ID Error.
Best Regards
This happened to me since I updated Kies. What works for me:
Go to settings -> more (under data usage) -> USB Utilities -> connect storage to PC -> OK
Windows now does recognise the phone and you can browse the phone as a drive. Kies will give you an error.
Turn off USB Storage, disconnect the phone.
Take out the USB cable and put it back in and Windows should detect the phone properly now and Kies will recognise it too.
this worked for me first time
Flashed rom, new error of mulfunctional USB and not recognized phone on USB. Interesting is, that another phone, but the same type, same ROM was recognized. Nothing from above helped (reinstalled progs, restarts, reinstalled ROM, tweeking in kies)
Helped only reinstalled drivers posted above by gee2012 (SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones)! Thanks for this.

Big thanks, these drivers sorted it out for me though the ones you hosted have gone from your dropbox I found more easy enough because of the name you supplied.
Just out of interest are those having this problem using an AMD chipset or a gigabyte motherboard? My main PC has both and its the only system I am having this issue with.
had this happen again after flashing a new rom from a full wipe. un installed the drivers then reconnected and fixed the issue.

Acer A700 USB problem

Hello. I've got A700 and I'm trying to root it but I've got a problem. I tried it with every key combination (power, volume up & down) I found on the internet but they don't work.
I also tried it when using the USB port but my PC and my laptop won't recognise the tablet. I've downloaded the drivers from Acer but when I install them my PC asks to install NET frameworks 2.0.5727. This version is no longer available but Frameworks 3 also worked according to Microsoft. After this installation the drivers from Acer still don't want to install. Then I tried it with Android USB driver but the same problem keeps coming back.
When I plug the tablet on my PC and look in the windows device manager there is a yellow triangle on the USB port with an error code 43. I've got the same problem and errors on my laptop. They both work on Windows 8.1. Could it be that the problem is on my tablet's USB? There is no problem when charging.
Does anyone have a similar problem or maybe a solution?
I have this problem too for my Acer a700. When I connect the tablet, i can't see the folders on the tablet via the pc anymore. I can't put files on it, and I can't transfer files from the tablet to the pc.
I contacted Acer and they said that windows 8.1 uses a new way to deal with usb drivers.
I will translate (google translate) from dutch to english
Dear customer,
*
Unfortunately, Windows 8.1 handles the USB drivers differently than Windows 7/8. So there are specific drivers for Windows 8.1 required that we can not supply at this time.
We have made a request to check whether these drivers are still going to be mad.e At this moment we can not specify the period within which we as a reaction to get going.
Until then you might try to work with the following generic driver: http://www.droid-now.com/2013/10/fix-working-fastboot-drivers-windows-8-1-x64/
Note that they are not specifically designed for the Acer tablet and we can not provide support for the things that are discussed there.
Following the instructions is at your own risk.
*
As soon as we have more information about the Windows 8.1 driver, we will inform you about it.
*
Hoping this provides you with sufficient information and we apologize for the inconvenience
Any update. I have same problem running window 10.

Installed a HTC sync like program named PDAnet, and updated the drivers from that program, once in fastboot mode device is recognized in pdanet and in a command prompt (adb). this only worked on a usb2.0 port though.
(didn't bother replacing usb3.0 drivers as suggested elsewhere as this has caused big issues for me before.)
