After some requests from users here is a rooted rom for all the I8190 with NFC
This rom is based on the official I8190N-BTU-I8190NXXALL6-1356151513
Rom is compatible with all the I8190N devices.
This rom has not been tested, but i can assure you that it wont brick or break the warranty of your device.
Before flashing i recommend that you have a the original rom handy as a backup, you can find the here
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I8190N
How to flash;
Before flashing I urge you to backup the device and the internal sd card ,Also be aware that if you restore the device to default factory settings it will erase your internal card!
Make sure that the pc installs the required drivers before going any further,Windows vista,7,and 8 should be able to download and install them by default, otherwise Install samsung kies.
Shutdown device
Put your device into Download mode is by pressing "Volume Down"+"Home"+Power Button" and then "Volume Up"
Connect device to pc
Unrar the downloaded package,
launch Odin , on "PDA" press browse and select the final.tar.md5 file ,then press "Start"
After the first boot you must reboot the device.
Alternatively If you familiar with ADB type the following commands to get into download:
Code:
adb shell
su
reboot download

Hi, I can't download the file...any help please?
Thx in advance

confirm working....thanks!

hi, one noob question, can i instal one of custom rom here on my N version? seems like there is no specific rom for the N version. .

work like a charm

NFC is not working anymore?!
Was working without root and now I can't turn it on ...

Thank you for that. Works perfectly.
I have also installed CWM recovery
Any ideas how i can go back to stock recovery and where i get it from?
I have seen a stock recovery for a NONE NFC version (so just the 8190). can the same be used on the N version or does recovery vary from model to model?

Hi
I am going to try this, but can you first tell me what software I use to back up the device and the internal SD Card, and what is the difference between both? I know the SD Card is the removable memory, so perhaps by backing up the device you mean the ROM?
I tried backing up with Titanium Backup but it tells me the device needs to be rooted first.
I also tried Rom Manager but it also says I must be root for it to function. That said it does have some recovery and backup options I can access but there are so many options I do not know what to select.
Please help, thank you.

Have a look here.

There are no guides on what and how to back up or what other precautions to take for this phone, you are not the only person who googles.
Also, I am trying to download the firmware for my phone to keep handy as a back up as suggested from http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I8190N but unfortunately it does not have a file matching my Baseband version 18910NXXALL3.
The instructions at the top of that page mention how to provide the admin with my three letter region code and device model, and it says I should be able to see model current firmware version in Kies after connecting my phone but unfortunately this is blank! SGS CSC another way to find the pcode seems to be unavailable too. The third suggested way also fails. I am able to get my IMEI code, but when I then enter it into the second command to get my PCode, and I have tried with and without the last 01, it says 'unknown application'. I am in Ireland.
I have tried on different computers and reinstalling Kies etc.
My phone is only a few days old and I have not rooted it etc.

Works perfectly.. like the fact, thats its not needed to flash new recovery for roots.

Thankyou !!

Obviously you didn't read post #11
BTW, simple steps...
1- Flash CWM/TWRP via Odin
2- Do backup via CWM/TWRP
3- Continue with op page

work like a charm

I just did my sons friends phone all went well
but its showing unknown csc on *#1234# and was fine before
it was
AP:I8190NXXALL6
CP:I8190NXXALL6
CSC:I8190NOXXALL3
BTU

sorted it
the easiet way to do this is to choose pda as I8190NXXALL6_I8190NOXXALL3_HOME.tar.md5
and csc as rooted.tar.md5 it then flashes the whole stock image on then the rooted image straight after
so the csc is applied on first boot
But a double flash isnt really optimal
a complete rooted image is preferable for future users

thanks

This root doesn't allow flashing custom roms

Hero flashed (2.73.728.5)

UPDATE: My Experience Getting The Phone Flashed to the 2.73.405.5-rooted-signed.zip
Phone CAN be flashed!
Old Version:
Build: 2.73.728.5 146733 CL#61267 release-keys
Kernal: 2.6.27-8dd6deee [email protected] )
Baseband: 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18
New Version (pre-rooted):
Build: 2.73.405.5 146733 CL#61267 release-keys
Kernal: 2.6.27-8dd6deee [email protected] )
Baseband: 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18
The phone did not have android market on it initially as it was the Malaysian (SEA) version. This is how I flashed it to the WWE version with market and most locales etc.
1. Choose a ROM (Link to Generic ROM's inc. pre-rooted
They will be in the update.zip format, as this is the format we need. The link I have given is for the generic versions with nothing added to them.
2. Download the appropriate files
- Flashrec Download the latest version from here (fastboot will not work for this phone kernal)
- Amon RA Recovery Image
Either: (For Installing .apk's)
- HTC Sync
or
- OI File Manager
3. Install Flashrec
Either using HTC Sync or OI File Manager install the flashrec apk onto your phone.
To install with OI File Manager, just copy to your SD Card, and browse to the SD card and select the file.
4. Run Flashrec
Select backup recovery image (the last option), and let that finish
Then type into the box up the top the following
/sdcard/Recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.2.img
And select the button below the textbox (flash recovery image)
Once this is done, your recovery image will be flashed, and you can now boot into recovery mode!
5. Backing Up
Rename the ROM file you downloaded to update.zip
Save it to the root directory on your SD card
Turn the phone off, hold down the home and power buttons until a green menu comes up.
*** Select nandroid backup first ***
Let it run its course and then reboot you phone (first option in the menu) and copy the folder 'nandroid' from your SD card to your computer and store it somewhere safe
6. Flashing new ROM
Reboot your phone again into the recovery image (home + power buttons)
And select Wipe/Factory Reset
Then select Apply:update.zip
Let this run, and when it is finished, you will have the 'good' software, and android market!
With this method you can apply any other ROM you want (MoDaCo for instance)...
Hope my learning experience will help some other people!
I have the exact ROM (bought my Hero in Malaysia)
It can be flashed. I use flashrec, Amon Ra's and official pre-rooted 2.73.450.5 update image.
Yes there is no Market, and that's why I flashed it with another ROM.

It came like this, I have not flashed the updated Hero rom on it, from what I know its the SEA version of the Hero with no market on it. And I really would like to have the market on it
Has anyone else had experience in trying to root/flash this version of the Hero?

You're damn lucky dude that you've got THAT kernel version. Check out the thread which says that flashrec doesn't work and those guys have a slightly different kernel and are having hell of a trouble trying to flash a recovery image and a new ROM.
Yep, your best bet is to use FLASHREC AND AMON_RA'S recovery image, then go for any ROM you like (as long as you do not get and Customer ID error). Good luck

I am assuming he used update.zip, I have updated my first post to reflect on my experiences flashing my Hero.
hey guys I'm totally new to this and I think I messed this up already... I'm pretty confused by all this - I am not a computer/technical person in the least I just want market place... anyways I messed up in flashrec and now I don't have the right options - I reset the phone and reinstalled flashrec and I get "phone is ebi1/32a" at the top, the type box, and 'download recovery image' and 'restore backup image buttons'... how do I fix this or atleast get it back to original..? sorry I'm so ignorant, I've not done anything like this before.

Thanks for this post. I just succesfully flashed my htc hero.
No i can look for some nice custom roms.
Awesome
The unlockr instructions were way too involved and require hacking an sdcard.
Thanks for sharing.
for some reason i did all kinds of editing to the phone supposed by the website the unlocker to unlock my htc hero.. now after doing all that they said it was as easy as 1...2...3... so after i did the cmd editing and phone cmd editing im still not being able to backup the original img that i have now.. so i understand that once you select backup that there is a load bar that starts working but when using fleshrec (or watever) i select backup and nothing happens... i might have done it already just not too sure is there anyway to check on the HTC Hero by Sprint???
-Thanks in advance
also holding down menu and power button on my phone (htc hero) it just puts me in safe mode ?????
I had to follow unlockr instructions for hackign an sd card as i had perfect spl. It was the only way

[Q] Huawei U8860 Read-only file system

Hello Everyone,
I badly need help on my Huawei Honor U8860 phone. I have recently updated it from 2.3.6 to 4.03 over WIFI and the update went smoothly. So now here is what my phone have:
Kernel Version: 3.0.8-perf-00059-g3a757a2 [email protected] #1
Build Number: U8860IV100R001C00B923SP01
I have not rooted the phone at this time. It was working fine until 2 days ago when I started getting messages on the screen like:
"Unfortunately, 2D Home has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Google Play has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Settings has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Google Play Music has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Browser has stopped"
And so on, and so forth. It seems that all apps and processes have stopped when I try to use them so I literally can't use the phone. I went through several threads here just trying to restore my phone back to a
working state. I tried to do the following in order but without success:
1.) Factory data reset / erase everything - the phone boots to the recovery menu then it formats the /Data, /Cache and /HWUserData then it reboots. After reboot, the phone is back to where it was before the factory data reset with everything in it including downloaded apps.
2.) Manually uninstalled all downloaded apps. Removed screen lock (just to see if phone behavior changes). Then rebooted the phone but after reboot, all the apps are still installed and the screen lock is back as well.
3.) I tried to Force Update with the following official ROMs: B886, B919 and B923 but I always get the message "Update failed" during the update process.
4.) I downloaded the file "recovery-u8860-en.img" so I can replace the "recovery.img" file . Rebooted the phone w/ the pink screen and connected it to my PC but there is no USB mass storage device mounted.
5.) Finally, I tried to root the phone. I enabled USB debugging. I installed the ADB drivers then I downloaded the U8860 root tools and rootexplorer.apk. When I ran the "root-me.cmd", it tried to copy some files to the phone but it failed. The error was "read-only file system".
So it seems that the problem is because of the "read-only filesystem". I does not permit/allow any changes made to the phone. Can you help me restore my phone?
Please.. Can somebody help me on this?
Thanks, clint2rose

I still did not find any solution for my problem. I read from this thread that all ICS versions can be downgraded.

Is there a way to downgrade from B923 to B919? I think this will solve the problem I'm facing.

try to back-up some of the data form the partitions that are full on your phone and delete them, maybe afterwards the stock-rom-flashing procedure will work again.

what do you mean by flashing your current ROM? Just like any other stock ROM put the dload folder on the sd-card and start the update procedure either from the settings menu or via the boot-key-combination.
Yes the way you discribed is the correct one for flashing those patches, If those patches also don't work, I'm out of ideas, sorry.

Thank you once more for your time. Most of the thread I read regarding these patches often used the phrase" you have to flash the current version of your ROM using the patch"...
And yes I created dload folder, place the UPDATE.APP and put it on the sdcard. I turned off the phone and removed the battery. Then I pressed vol+ vol- and power on/off button. The firmware update went to about 70% installing before displaying update failed.
I guess I will have to bring my phone to a repair center. My only problem is that there is no Huawei service center at my place (I reside here in Saudi Arabia). I got the phone as a free device on a broadband package and the warranty is already expired. I'm a little worried to take the phone to the small mobile repair shops as they might screw up the phone even more. Huawei is not a popular device here unlike iPhone, HTC and Samsung Galaxy.
As I understood that your device is rooted, you should get some custom ROM and try to install it.

you don't need to be rooted, you only need to have a custom recovery deployed (which you can either do with root permissions, or by using the pink screen method, but some newer stock roms (you said your on 932 or something? last non-locked working is b919) this has been locked and the device will not boot if the kernel or the recovery image has been manipulated.
I think you will have to find some (huawei-certified!) repair-center, small do-it-all phone-shops probably won't be able to take care of this problem for you.. I'm sorry but I don't see any other solution

Ok. I will try to find a repair-center experienced in Huawei devices. I have one last question if you don't mind. Is it possible to erase everything on the phone? As in completely erase or reformat after which there will not be an operating system on the phone. I read in some threads that this is possible w/ custom recovery but I want to know if it is also possible for phones without the custom recovery. I'm hoping there might be some tool or something..
U8860 not responding

Have you find the solution yet? I have the same problem. Somehow my phone system is "locked". I can't install or uninstall app. Some google apps keep showing not responding. Everything changes i made, keep showing up after the phone rebooted.
This was happen a few days after I upgrade to ICS B932SP01 and rooted my phone (to remove original chinese apps).
Luckily i have friend in huawei indonesia. He gave my u8860 to the technical support. But the result was no good.
They try everything, even install my phone with the original GB and always failed.
The last suggestion is change the phone machine, which is as same as buy a new phone.
I really appreciate is someone can help me here...
Thanks

Data recovery HELP - Bricked phone

Sorry for the duplicated post. I just noticed the other one i posted is in the wrong section and this is the one for the AT&T phones so here it is again.
Hi Guys. Today i rooted my phone for the first time (LG Optimus G e970)
Everything went well, then i uninstalled the bloatware from AT&T and a few of the google apps that i do not use like books or music, and on the next reboot i got my phone bricked with the LG loop and "Security Error" message.
I found some great info on these forums on getting the phone in working condition with the help of this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2388440
However, before i go ahead and restore the phone's original firmware, i would like to know if there is anyway to recover some of the files. I have some important notes i wish to recover, everything else is on google and the external SD card so im not all lost.
I am able to put the phone in download mode by holding the up and down volume keys and then powering on the phone with the usb cable connected to the PC, but it is not showing as an external disk on the computer. I do have the LG drivers installed tho, the same ones i used to root the phone.
Any ideas?. thanks a lot.
What recovery do you have ? You may be able to mount internal and sd card in recovery and access them on your computer ?

Hi thank for the help.
I have no clue about what recovery i have. I never played with the phone before the rooting and removal of the apps, so i believe it should be the "stock" recovery if you wanna call it like that.

I don't know what guide you followed to get the root. If you followed this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450258
You should have twrp. Stock recovery may not be able to mount storages for uses on PCs.
Also I haven't seen the post you included , maybe that's an older post. A lot of people use this to recover their "bricked" phones
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230994
I personally have followed this too.
As long as you have download mode you don't have to worry. However you need to read carefully before processing with teenybins because its something that can actually brick your phone if used wrong.

Ok so when i did the rooting i followed that same guide you linked to, but i only did it to the root part. Not the "UNLOCK BOOTLOADER AND INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY-"
I just wanted the permissions to remove the apps.
So now with the TeenyBin guide.... will that erase the current settings and information on the phone or is it just an attempt to fix the firmware loop?
will the process attempt to restore the google apps missing?

There are different kind of teenybins. They do different things, one giving you a working recovery and updating RPM/TZ, one restoring your phone to complete factory state. You will have to read it to know what I'm saying here. The one that give you twrp and update your partitions may let your data alone but you will most likely still have the existing bootloop. The gapps missing ? The ones you deleted ? If you use the bin that recovers phones to factory state then you will have all the stock apps again.
Quick update.
I was able to recover the phone and the data in it. :good:
I installed the new boot loader with the teenybin instructions and was able to backup the data partition to an SD card.
Anyway, after that i went for a recovery using the stock firmware and LGNPST and now i lost the boot loader with all the neat options, but got the phone working again, and to my surprise, everything was back there including data and applications,. i dont get it but oh well... im back alive.
Ill backup all the important stuff from now on, and then i will keep messing with the phone again LOL. i learned quite a few things today... ill read more from now on before doing more things.
Thanks for all the help.!!
Good nite

Unofficially installing CM - Need help?

Hi!
I am installing CM from my phone's sd card, because my laptop never show the connectivity of my phone. Maybe a cable issue, but I don't know why. Someone told me that you can not connect GT-I8552 via USB cable.
OK! I have rooted my phone, and busybox is installed. I have downloaded CM v11 for Samsung Galaxy Premier, as this was the phone having configuration closer to my phone.
So, I installed ROM Installer, and it asked me to locate the zip file on sdcard. I did that, and finally clicked the install button, and that displayed a message for reboot in recovery mode. I clicked OK! My phone rebooted, and a screen came with the logo of android. Now, there were some option like wipe all data, reboot. Installed from SD card. I choose SD card and but it says no file here.
Although it displayed me a message on the main recovery screen that Multi CSC successful.
What could be the problem here, any idea?
I'm assuming that you rooted your phone using the CWM method.
The first problem is that you should install it directly through CWM (recovery), these programs like the one you used don't work very well with your device. I don't trust them, but this is my opinion.
The second problem is that you are trying to install CM of another phone. You shouldn't do this. Seriously. Unless you are willing to get a nice paperweight to use at office...

OK! If no, what should I do then? I mean I need to update it to v4.4. Is there any legal ROM for GT- I8552 by other Custom ROM developers?

Right now there is no way you can install Kitkat, if you try then your device may hard brick, but there is a solution to it you can install custom os based on kitkat available in this forum.

Hi!
Thanks for the response. Well, yeah! I guess there is only one fine-working ROM for GT-I8552, and that is by Bionic Monkey. So I guess I will install that. But I have a USB cable connectivity issue. My laptop never show the connectivity of cell phone. Do you have any idea about that?
Does you system has "samsung usb drivers" if not please install it and then try to connect it.
Here is the link: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOB...es-15270.shtml
or you can install kies
Here is the link : http://www.samsung.com/in/support/us...tware/KIES/JSP
if this not the issue, then may be it's due to corrupted rom or drivers, try same as above uninstall drivers and kies and re-install them, if not worked may be issue with rom.

[RESOLVED] Help upgrade a SHV-E160S 4.0.4 IMM76D.VH29 to latest??

Hi guys!
This is my first time to post a thread in this forum, I just bought a Samsung Note with model SHV-E160S, Android Version 4.0.4 and Build# IMM76D.VH29. I know that this is a Korean Variant and I'm using it here in Philippines (I can send SMS -- Openline). I don't know if this phone is already rooted, I don't know how to check.
What I'm trying to accomplish is to upgrade this phone from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 then later on upgrade it to Android Lollipop 5.1 and I don't know how. It will be a great pleasure if someone help me or direct me on what should I do.
I'm totally new to android devices and I'm not familiar on how to upgrade, update or root an android device.
Thanks!

Hello guys, any ideas? Thanks!
You'll be able to find your firmware here https://mega.nz/#F!IxJTDDQQ!TTgzxjX8d7EnzemoIj0ogg
4.1.2 was the last official update from Samsung for your device. If you want to update to newer than that, it will have to be done via updating with a custom recovery and custom rom, such as TWRP recovery and CyanogenMod 11 or 12/12.1.
Follow upgrade instructions from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997 and sub your firmware file instead of N7000.

Thank you es0tericcha0s for this information.
What I'm trying to do right now is updating my SHV-e160s from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 using Kies v2.6. Unfortunately, I'm getting this error "Failed to run firmware upgrade: unknown error.". Until now, I'm afraid to update my firmware manually as I don't have much knowledge to do that.
1) Download firmware and Odin
2) Open Odin as admin
3) Load firmware in PDA or AP slot depending on which version of Odin used
4) Boot to Download Mode and plug in your phone
5) Once Odin recognizes it ( will show highlighted - COM:xx where "xx" is any number, doesn't matter which ones) hit start
6) Grab a drink and a snack and come back in 10 minutes or so
7) If device bootloops, reset in recovery
Once the files are downloaded, the whole process takes less than 10-12 minutes or so. Everything you need is in the guide I linked to besides the firmware you need, which is in the Mega link. If you need a video guide, there are dozens on YouTube. I find it much easier to use than Kies and once you have it working, then there are not many things you will do that restoring with Odin and a factory reset won't get you out of.

Hello, sorry I forgot to ask, will this root my device? I'm afraid I might bricked it.
No, this is just the official update. As long as the download is good and you follow those directions, you won't do anything that won't be easily recoverable if it doesn't work right away. Soft bricking is not a big deal and nothing you would do here would cause anything worse unless you unplug the phone in the middle of something important.
---------- Post added at 09:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:20 AM ----------
And because you'll probably ask... It's easy to root. Just download Chainfire's SuperSU zip, put it on your phone's storage and use Odin to install TWRP recovery (just like you do with the whole firmware package) , boot to recovery before it boots to the OS and install the zip. Reboot and enjoy.

Hello again es0tericcha0s, I haven't tried the instructions that you gave me yesterday as I'm still downloading the firmware, last night I encountered an issue after enabling my Bluetooth, something like "NFC Service has stopped." just keeps on popping up. So I turned off the bluetooth then restarted my phone, it went well for a while.
After that, I enabled my 3G Cellular Data to check what was NFC service error is, after a few minutes, I lost my signal, phone turned to No Service, then in Settings -> About Phone, I got an Unknown Baseband.
EDIT
I got No Service since last night up until now.
EDIT Oct. 13, 2015 9:49 AM +08:00 Manila Time
I manage to update my phone from ICS 4.0.4 to JB 4.1.2. But still, my baseband is Unknown and I have no signal.
If it did that before you tried to flash anything...that doesn't sound good. Hard to say without testing it, but kind of sounds like the baseband chip (hardware issue).

I also though of that, hopefully not.
When I first got the phone, my gf sent me our pictures via bluetooth , no issues occured. After a while, I noticed that there are so many photos of the previous owner (around 1000+) and mp3s (around 1000+ also). So I connected the phone via usb to my pc and deleted all those pictures and mp3s inside the My Computer -> SHV-E160S -> Phone (Computer\SHV-E160S\Phone). After doing so, I started to encouter some issues, when enabling the bluetooth, the phone hangs and reboots then the error 'NFC service has stopped' keeps on popping up, until it went Unknown Baseband.
Now, the phone keeps on rebooting similar to the symptoms that it gets when baseband version is unknown.
I'm looking for solutions to fix the unknown baseband and saw the Back up and Restore EFS, I just need to root the device to try this fix. Maybe I'll post an update whether if I manage to solve this problem or not, if it didn't fix the issue then maybe the problem is the baseband chip. what a crap!
This is my reference for the EFS Fix

Thanks!
Rooting will be easy. Just install TWRP with Odin and use the SuperSU zip from Chainfire. Process should take like 5 minutes once everything is downloaded.

So I need to install TWRP first before rooting the device? Also I'm planning to use a rooted stock firmware which is 4.1.2, I just don't know the difference between UH24 and MH2, I've read that UH24 is already old and it's better to use a MH2 build and what is the Recovery UH24/MH2?
EDIT:
I forgot, I cannot check my current Baseband since it is still unknown.
EDIT: 12:30PM +8:00
I managed to get my Build#, it is MH2, I'm currently looking for a rooted 4.1.2 MH2 download link.
Way faster and easier to use the method I outlined, but either way should work.

Sorry, I'm really a root virgin here. While following your advise, I'm also currently looking at this guide -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924535. I'm done downloading Tegrak for MH2, a small problem I encountered here is I don't have a folder named 'sdcard' in my phone, so I created one and copied the 'Kernel' .zip, also I copied it to usbStorage folder.
I'm about to flash the 'Recovery' .tar to my phone. Hoping a success result
Should be fine. Your phone's internal storage is seen by the OS as /sdcard. Doesn't matter where you put the file as long as you remember where it's at so you can navigate to it through recovery to install.

Finally! I'm done rooting my phone, though I encountered another issues again. My Menu Button and Back Button does not work.
UPDATE: 4:08PM +8:00GMT
I think I found the problem as to why my Menu button and Back button doesn't work. I'v check my Baseband and it is -> E160SKSJMH1 and my Build # is -> JZO54K.E160SKSJMH2. Am I using a wrong FW as supposed to what I should be using? Which build should I install, the MH1 or the MH2?
Also, the Tegrak Kernel I've used is Build 48 for SHV-E160S MH2. I've also tried factory resetting the phone but the issue still exists.
Thanks!
UPDATE: 4:41PM +8:00GMT
Managed to fixed the issue by updating my Touch Firmware. Cool!
